I hesitated writing this review but ultimately decided the experience I had was worth sharing. I not only hope that the owner of the salon learns from this, but that other customers don't encounter the same situation.
I've been to this location more than just a few times, spending around ~$500 each visit, excluding one appointment that I know was between $210-$300. I am a consistent, loyal, returning client who always tips at the end of every service. While some would argue "Why wouldn't you tip?," I'd like to gently remind that tips are not required. Despite that, I ALWAYS tip (and well!) on top of paying a premium price for a service that I'd say is not a priority for many during these tough economic times.
My previous appointments have been great, no real complaints. My most recent experience was absolutely ruined by who I am almost positive is the owner of this establishment, and that is what I want to make abundantly clear.
When I finished paying, I was asked if I was only tipping X amount on my $500+ service rather than 20+%. I was rightfully taken aback by the question, as I had never been asked that before here. I then doubled my tip and was still met with the same disapproving/snarky glance. That look I received was so condescending and they did not even thank me or say goodbye. One of the therapists who had serviced me looked uncomfortable, as well, but did wish me a goodbye.
To the owner - shame on you. You never know someone's financial situation. What if I was someone who had saved for months in order to book with you and genuinely did not have more to spare? What if this was a treat for someone else and you humiliated them in front of a guest? To so boldly ask for more of something you truly are not entitled to is a huge turn-off.
I will not be returning and this place has lost a returning client. I feel sorry for the massage therapists and I hope they can find somewhere whose owner does not try to swindle the customers like this. Additionally, I SINCERELY hope the owner does not reply to this review with a snarky comment as they often do on other negative reviews. If you can't take fair criticism, you should not be a business owner.
