A Football Fans' Guide to Food in Charlotte, North Carolina

"A cozy, squat restaurant on East Boulevard with no TVs but a near-shrine photo wall dedicated to Panthers players (notably former Panther Luke Keuchly), Thai Taste has been running since 1988 and serves generous portions of drunken noodles, a slightly stinging green curry, and warm Pud Thai — the obvious spot for a post-game gorge." - Kayleigh Ruller

If you're in Canton, this place ticks all the boxes. Basil rolls, Golden Tofu, Tom Kha Soup & Roast Duck Curry. I stopped in, placed my order and 15 min later, im on my way! A little spendy, but fast service & great food, its worth it!!!

Google
Lovely place and delicious food. The yellow curry with shrimp was delicious! Will be coming back.

Google
I've been eating here once a week or so for almost 2 years, sorry took so long for the review :) This place has the best Thai Yellow Curry and Basil Rolls you are going to find in the NW part of Atlanta! These guys are authentic to the cuisine and the flavors reflect that in their food. Restaurant is always spotless and never failed to be greeted with smiles.

Google
Phenomenal food and fast, attentive service. The best Pad Thai I've had in years and the Drunken Noodles are the best in town. Definitely our go-to for fantastic Thai!

Google
Came again after a few years and there are improvements hence I will improve my rating. Overall the Thai curries were good and a family favorite but I still feel it needed more punch. Veggies were fresh and the service was fast. The basil roll was a pop of flavor and rolled to perfection. The Thai tea was good after they remade it with less milk. After that you could taste the tea! What made the tea even better was the main course. Traditional Thai food is spicy. Here you can get it spicy if perhaps a little too spicy. Once your mouth starts to burn the Thai tea really does its job. I ordered a Massaman Curry which was tasty but a little too salty. I have never had curry before that was too salty so this was a new experience. The veggies were crispy and fresh and they were generous with the cashews. Lastly I felt bad for our server. He did everything but cook. He took care of several tables, handled all the take out orders, answered the phones, did tasks for the owner and ran all the checks with a smile. I was never lacking for service but I feel like the owners could bring in more help. When I checked I was told No American Express.

Google
If you're looking for some awesome food, this is the place to go! Me and my family went here and the food was completely amazing. The inside of the resturant is very nice and cozy. It has a very interesting but nice vibe to it. The costumer service was very great and the waitress was very nice to us and our requests. Now the food was also very very great. Not one person had any complaints about their food and most of us wanted to keep it for home actually! The prices were great and the area that it is in is also nice. I know that I am planning on going here again soon!

Google
Lovely ambiance and server is friendly. I ordered vegetable rolls , Tom yum soup and Basil shrimp fried rice. Being a Thai food lover I did not find authentic taste of thai in any one of the ordered food at all.

Google
I believe this is the first time I've given an average review! Normally I wouldn't post but I'd already decided that I was going to post before going in. So, this restaurant is in a strip mall and I feel as though they utilized the space they had but I feel like the layout could have been better, but who cares, right? The restroom was clean, the food was edible, even if the sauce for the salad was a bit watery. I ordered panang curry with scallops (adventurous, aren't I) it was good, but I didn't take my leftovers for later. This is a spot to stop in when you're over in the area, not a neighborhood "go-to" spot.

Yelp
Visited Thai Taste, craving sushi, but switched it up at the last minute and ordered noodles instead! My favorite Thai Noodle dish is Pad Kee Mao or the Pad See U, you can never go wrong with either. I tried the Pad Kee Mao here, with all veggies and my Fiancé ordered the Panang Curry! The Pad Kee Mao was soooo fresh! The veggies were cooked perfectly, the noodles the perfect texture and spicy level #3, added the perfect amount of heat! Although the picture isn't all that great, my Fiancé's curry was delicious as well. The service was great and food was fresh, I will definitely return to Thai Taste to try more dishes!

Yelp
The young man working was attentive and friendly. The dining room and bathroom were clean. The decor was fresh and modern. The crab rangoons were typical and tasty. We added shrimp to the basil rolls. The pieces weren't wrapped tightly so the lettuce (not basil) was spilling out of them. The peanut sauce wasn't like I've had anywhere else- it was watery with peanuts floating on top. My husband's Pad Woon Sen had great flavor but the thin rice noodles were overcooked and mushy. My Pad See U was the best I've had in years! The chicken & veggies were cooked to perfection & the flavor spot on. The noodles were overcooked also. Hopefully the chef can adjust that for future patrons. My daughter enjoyed her Sweet & Sour Chicken. It looked soupy but came with rice to sop up the sauce. Yum!

Yelp
This was an okay experience, and I'm sure I'll be back because it's close to my house, but there is better Thai food a short distance away. I like that it's cuter inside than many similar places that look like nail salons. The service was okay, a couple of minor missteps like forgetting part of our order and one request. The tofu appetizer was very bland and not visually appealing but a decent texture. The crab fried rice was light on flavor and crab...I had to salt it just for some taste. The massaman curry was exceptionally good, and you can choose your level of heat. That will be worth a return visit.

Yelp
Had dinner at this Thai restaurant recently, the restaurant is pretty dated on the inside. The service was pretty good, the food was brought out in a timely manner and was hot. While the food is made fresh to order the overall taste was not up to par with some of the other Thai restaurants in the area. We ordered the tom yum soup. Pad Thai with Tofu, the massaman curry. Overall the food was decent although the pad Thai was disappointing. While we will continue to to to try other Thai restaurants in the area, Thai Taste is worthy of a try.

Earl S.

Yelp
The food is delicious and authentic. I do find even when I select mild on the online order my food is almost always spicy. The food otherwise is flavorful and the orders are always ready on time.
google avatar

Kat S.

Yelp
Enjoyable dining in experience... the food was missing flavor. Admittedly, I wasn't hyper aggressive with my medium spice choice. However, the soup and the entree were missing the flavors of basil, onion, sliced peppers, etc. these items were present on the plate but bland. The server was very pleasant and attentive. On the customer service alone, I may give it another go- I am often on this side of town.

Janet B.

Yelp
My mom and I had dinner here and it was very tasty. I had the Pad Thai which was excellent and some egg rolls which were perfect. Servers were very friendly and accommodating. And the restaurant is cute inside with a warm feeling and a small bar. Finally, great health department ratings which I appreciate. Try them out.
google avatar

Jessica B.

Yelp
Delicious food, pleasant service and affordable prices! I don't know what more to ask for from a local thai restaurant. I like the medium spice: enough to make my nose run, but not enough to deter me.

Eric B.

Yelp
Always fresh, delicious dishes. Excellent / friendly service. Clean establishment. Great go-to for dine-in or carry out.

Caleb M.

Yelp
chicken stir fry looks like soup. egg rolls are burnt also ordered a shrimp basil roll that had no shrimp.
google avatar

Melinda A.

Yelp
This was a very nice restaurant. I had absolutely no complaints. Food service and ambiance were all good. We had the duck dish, seafood salad , Tom yum soup and egg rolls. Each had a very nice flavor. Our server was nice and polite. She was also efficient and timely. Let me add that the decor was quite nice

Yelp
My husband and I were in the mood for Thai and while in the area we saw that Thai Taste cuisine had a decent rating so we stopped through. The restaurant is in a gas station shopping center next to a burger spot. There is a sushi bar and several tables if you are interested in dining inside this quaint restaurant. We made our order to go. Customer service was friendly, our food was prepared fast and packaged well. My only issue was the taste of the food, it looked delicious and seemed to be fresh but my Stir fry shrimp and broccoli was not good at all. I took a few bites of my dish and threw it away. The Shrimp Pad Thai was equally not good and my husband was also disappointed. Unfortunately we won't be coming back. Maybe if I'd never had good Thai food then my opinion might different. I gave 3 stars for the great customer service.

Mike B.

Yelp
Only one experience, got takeout and we were underwhelmed. I'm not interested in trying again.

James B.

Yelp
Have more than two shrimp in Tom Yum soup. Also, I ordered Basil Fried Rice with Level 2 (Medium ) Thai spice. There is NO SPICE to this rice at ALL. The rice tastes SWEET. I'll NEVER go back there again. I just rode by and decided to try their food. I'll give them a 2/10 !!!!!
google avatar

Jay M.

Yelp
I ordered Massaman curry and got this, thin liquid with thick cut carrots and potatoes in it. It barely had any chicken. The food is also very expensive. Not very good at all. They also put absolutely no condiments , napkins or utensils in the bag.
google avatar

Larry M.

Yelp
Came here for the first time and we were not disappointed! I had the seafood combo and there was so much seafood and great mix of vegetables. Excellent taste best thing about everything here is none of. It's too sweet. Especially the coconut soup my wife had that, and it was the best she's ever had And Sam the owner explained that he does not put sugar in it like many other places definitely putting this on our regular visit list

Margaret B.

Yelp
When I visited during lunch, the place was empty. The food was tasteless. There wasn't much ambience to speak of. The waiter was inattentive ... not a good experience. I don't recommend this restaurant.

Thomas S.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. We usually order take out and it ready to pick up quickly. Always hot and delicious.

Jennifer O.

Yelp
The worst Drunken noodles I have experienced. I received dry noodles with little to no sauce.
google avatar

Yelp
Dinner take out . Dumplings , pad Thai- seafood Garlic stir fry beef . Dumplings were average , nothing stood out that made them any better than others I have had before. Pad Thai seafood was delicious. Plenty of shrimp, scallops, mussels and I think it was calamari (not sure though) sauce was very good (mild as ordered) . Service was efficient. Was in and out for order and pick up within 12 minutes. Garlic stir fry had nice flavor( mild also) , although it could have used a little more beef. The only thing that gave this a four and not a five was their health score of 82. I am hoping this is corrected already. Food was very hot when I got home, although packaging was poor due to the fact it leaked . All in all, very tasty and we will be back . My teenager wanted more of the mussels , very meaty and fresh , I will be ordering more of them the next time. The place had many people eating in.

Louisa S.

Yelp
Was searching for Thai food close to me and this came up in yelp. Ordered my food take out and was surprised at how tasty everything is. Service was quick and staff friendly. Definitely will trying eating in next time.

Marti S.

Yelp
Thai Taste has consistently had great food for the last several years! Always can count on great meal.
google avatar

Sheryl B.

Yelp
Best Thai food around and excellent service. We go there frequently. Lots of vegetarian options for us and so many sauce choices. Have never had anything I didn't love.
google avatar

Nancy K.

Yelp
No longer has sushi. The ramen dishes are more of an Udon noodle and very skimpy on the meats in the dish. Lots of noodles and 3 or 4 meat pieces for a 15 dollar meal.
google avatar

Nancy J.

Yelp
I get their veggie stir fry with steak and three pepper level spice. Their food is amazing! I love their little fried egg roll things... two is enough...Otherwise you won't eat your food.

Yelp
Went late last night on Saturday September 30. My first time here. Called in order of pad thai, curry chicken, and egg rolls. First the front desk lady was super nice, said she just started. The flavors were spot on, however, the pad thai was so salty, I couldn't eat it. I don't know if the sauce had a lot of salt in it or if someone was just heavy-handed with adding salt but it was so much I could I eat it. The carrots and potatoes in the chicken curry were gigantic chunks! They should have cut them in half or in thirds, that's how large they were! Not sure if someone was just being lazy. Needless to say, I was very disappointed when I got home and just did not have the energy to drive back there. As most of us know, there are not a lot of great restaurants in East Cobb and because the flavors were on point I will probably try it again and maybe just dine in the next time. If the Pad thai with chicken would not have been so salty and the vegetable chunks in the chicken curry were not so huge, this would've easily been a five-star review. I spent more than $30 so needless to say I was not happy.

Yelp
We came here for dinner on a weeknight and it was not busy at all. There was only one other party there and they did do a few take out orders while we were there. Being that there was only one other party, I thought it was strange that they sat us right next to them (COVID or not). Our server was friendly and was probably the owner. Note that they no longer serve sushi. We got the kids pad thai and an order of pad see ew, along with a tom yum soup to start. The soup was the best part for sure! There was a good amount of it and our whole party loved it. The pad thai and pad see ew was a bit bland, lacking flavor and not as spicy as I would have l liked. I should have ordered a higher level. That said, it was a good experience overall, but I would not go out of my way to come here.

Yelp
The Staff is so sweet here, the food is quality lots of flavor, I've had their Curry, Pad thai, and a host of their appetizers and it's all delicious.
google avatar

Richard D.

Yelp
The Thai food was awesome some of the best we've had in a long time the owners are from Thailand very friendly very nice service they went out of their way the restaurant was neat and clean and comfortable
google avatar

Lyn B.

Yelp
Excellent. I recommend this restaurant very highly. Your food is made so well. Plus it's a very clean and nice restaurant.

Howard M.

Yelp
Great food and service at moderate price. The staff and owner are very friendly! In a small strip center on Canton Road. Decor inside is nice. Food is always prepared to order.
google avatar

Coleton M.

Yelp
The location is okay for where its at and the price is somewhat decent. However, the taste of the food is somewhat okay because when I got their green curry, there wasn't much taste to it, it was more of a soupy taste rather than having a richer thickness like how most curries are suppose to be, and the vegetables were mostly chunky rather it being a little thinner or smaller. Its okay.
google avatar

Jime W.

Yelp
Definitely will be back. Good food, portions are perfect, and we loved how clean the restaurant was!
google avatar

John L.

Yelp
Very good thai food in casual restaurant, love the basil rolls and fried rice, curry is good too.

Stacy L.

Yelp
Food is authentic, service is always excellent and ambiance is traditional and comfortable!
google avatar

Angela M.

Yelp
Authentic Thai food. The service is very fast and friendly. The ambiance is laid back. I had the pad ke mao. I'm not sure if i spelled it right but it was amazing! I go back for it am the time. So good. Staff is very friendly.
google avatar

Leigh N.

Yelp
This was one of the worst pad kee maos I have had, yikes. No color on the noodles, very light sauce, NO flavor. None at all. Also asked for extra veg, did not get that. They get one point for having fresh tofu available.
google avatar

Wendy S.

Yelp
Food was exceptional and the service was great. Wish I lived a little closer, but this place is worth the drive!
google avatar

Melanie M.

Yelp
So fresh and so delicious. The pot stickers are amazing and my meal is to die for! Please try this place!!
google avatar

Doug T.

Yelp
Food and service were both good. We'll definitely be back. Had sweet and sour chicken stir fry and my wife had shrimp pad tai. Both were very tasty.

AJ J.

Yelp
Food always good! Very authentic! Great customer service! My weekly Friday order to go!
google avatar

Eliezer M.

Yelp
The food was amazing we were a large party. Had different items off of the menu. Everyone loved what they got from the appetizers to the main courses. That ranged from Thai and Sushi selections. The service was great I highly recommended this place.
google avatar

Rebecca A.

Yelp
I think this place has changed hands, & unfortunately the service has declined. I ordered carryout and the hostess managing the front desk and carryout orders was flighty and distracted. There is a bar to sit at to wait for your order, but it's piled up with items for storage and the chairs are flimsy. I added thai basil to my stir fry order, and they made it clear it would cost $1 for that (okay, fine). Overall, the stir fry was inedible due to spice, and they included zero basil, although they charged me for it. The appetizer and sushi items were fine. The gentleman making the sushi did great, and he seemed embarrassed at the lack of professionalism from the server. This carryout experience was a poor one.
google avatar

Lilly C.

Yelp
I've been here three times now and all three times it was really good. It's located behind a Citgo gas station off of Canton Road near Jamerson by the railroad tracks. Patti Wagon Burger, Cremefina Ice cream is also located in the same shopping strip. They have all your favorite Thai dishes including: Pad Thai Pad see you pad kee mao pad woon sen Thai fried rice basil fried rice I think all their Thai dishes are quite good. Thai food of course like Chinese food differs from region to region. So it's so subjective. The Thai food that I'm use to eating taste probably more like Chinese food...so just keep that in mind as you're reading this. I've never been to Thailand so I have no idea what authentic Thai is suppose to taste like... They also serve sushi but I've not had a chance to try them out yet but from what I hear...its pretty good... I've gotten take out the 3 times that I've been here so I can't comment on the service in the restaurant. I receive good and prompt service when I ordered take out so I really don't have any complaints.... 890th review 12/6/2017
google avatar

Bella J.

Yelp
The best Thai food on the block! The service is great too. Definitely worth the drop by if you're in town.

Charles W.

Yelp
Service is good. Food is good. Pad thai chicken and beef both good. Some other dishes are ordered from my group. Always easy to get a table no wait. Not many people know about this place. It should be busier since it is so good. Unfortunately over $40 after tip for three meals.
google avatar

Brian D.

Yelp
Owners of this restaurant are very polite and friendly, I've tried most of the menu and have enjoyed just about everything I've ordered. Be careful what hotness you get because it can get spicy!! Other than that give them a try, definitely worth the experience.
google avatar

Beth A.

Yelp
I get take out from here for lunch all the time, they have a pretty good curry. But now I have eaten in restaurant twice. It is so good and the dishes are beautifully presented (something I missed with the take out). I've had the roast duck and just had the Yum Seafood salad. It was great. Easy with the optional spice, as in many Thai restaurants. The number 2 spice (out of 4) is almost too hot for me. Good to know: they never have Sushi on Wednesday. Not sure if that means Tuesday is a bad sushi day but it might mean it's freshest on Thursday.

Sean P.

Yelp
consistent delicious dishes and attentive service. can't go wrong, this is my go-to Thai restaurant
