These forgotten mountain paths in Northern Thailand are every trail runner's dream - SilverKris

"A guide-run operation led by Sébastien Bertrand, a former outdoor-industry product manager from Annecy who relocated to Thailand to build and showcase long-distance routes. The service offers guided multi-day runs through very remote foothills, with the leader’s intimate knowledge of the terrain proving indispensable for navigation and safety; groups have included high-profile Asian ultra-runners and the outings emphasize both technical challenge and immersion in rarely-visited mountain villages. Plans to stage a 100-mile race were explored but, lacking permissions, the operation instead focuses on curated trail experiences for ambitious runners." - Ric Stockfis

Had a really great experience with them. They were able to plan a morning till noon hike for us on the next day. Our guide May, was very nice. She knew a lot about the things we saw on our hike and she had a genuine interest in nature herself. We forgot an item in the truck that was used to pick us up and they even did the effort to send this back to our hotel the next day.

Brilliant 'Escape to Chiang Dao' experience. Our guide was awesome - 5 stars! Loved staying at Lahu and Hmong villages, trying local food and coffee. Sunsets, sunrises and waterfalls! It wasn't easy - there were some very steep sections - but it was so rewarding. An absolute highlight of Northern Thailand. Only note is that it wasn't clear that the Chiang Dao Wildlife Sanctuary was closed (it closes annually in the dry season to mitigate risk of fires) and therefore our itinerary was changed on the last day. Also the company is not Thai owned (actually French)

I highly recommend the "Escape to Chiang Dao" trip! What an experience! Staying in quaint countryside villages, breathtaking Thai nature, fast friends, great local cuisine, challenging but rewarding hiking - what's not to love? And to top it all off, Mit, our guide, was top notch and made the journey informative and entertaining. The trip itself was roughly 40km and 3000m over 3 days, with 2 overnight stays in remote villages. Food, transport, lodging, and water all included in the initial fee (beer is extra 😉). The first day or two was pretty cloudy, but regardless of the views, our group made the most of it and had a blast. On the last day, though, the weather was perfect and we were blessed with some truly stunning scenery. Chiang Dao beckoned us onward in the distance as we completed a grueling descent down a valley of mandarin tree orchards then followed by an ass-kicker of a climb up the opposing mountain. Mit helped motivate us the whole way, and even procured some local wildlife to show us 🐍. Once we reached the pick-up point at the end, we were all beat but enjoyed some well-deserved drinks as we basked in the shadow of Chiang Dao and took in our accomplishment. Do this trip! You won’t be sorry. And thank you so much, Mit!!!

The hikes are amazing but intense. Our guide was not very motivated and didn’t really make sure everybody was able to keep up… I have done other hikes from Chiang Mai, where the guides where actual locals from the mountain tribes (they had a much better insight about the nature and people). But this company offers great hikes in specific areas, that other companies do not offer. And if you are fit enough, it shouldn’t be a problem.

I did the 3 day "The Great Escape to Chiang Dao" trek and it was a perfect experience. It was very well organized and our guide Mit was a delight to be around. The trek can be very challenging at times as the elevation gain is intense and the terrain can be rough, so be prepared for that. The views are absolutely stunning and it was a great opportunity to go off the beaten path. We saw no other tourists our entire 3 days. There is lots of free time in the afternoon to explore the villages. It was great to see how the hill tribes live, and all of the locals were very friendly. Our group stayed at 2 villages and passed through 2 others. Overall, I wouldn't change a thing about this experience. If you are up for the challenge, do not pass this opportunity up!

We had a great experience with Sebastien, who was professional, lovely and interesting. We liked that he offers something different than the other local companies. He took us for a 35 km hike over 3 days. It was truly beautiful and off the beaten tracks. It was sometimes very steep but we went on our own pace and my mother who is 62 did it. Just bring your hiking sticks! The accommodations at the locals were very basic but the hosts (from the tribes) cooked us some delicious food. Thank you Sebastien for this memorable adventure!

Wonderful experience with Thailand mountain trail. I did the 2day lahu trek with guide Kui (Ken) who was the utmost professional, friendly and had just good energy about him. Kui made sure that everyone was comfortable and kept the morale high throughout the tough sections of the trek. He also made sure there was good vegan meal options which I really appreciated. Definitely request Ken as your guide! Great value for money with everything provided and an insight into the culture of Thai villages. I am excited to return and experience another trip with Thailand mountain trail.

Share is a real good guide who know perfectly his country and give us a lot of very interesting explanations. The trail was great. He adapts his rythme for everyone. Despite a very rainy weather, we really appreciate this trail which give us a good view of the Thai jungle.
