Thämer's

This was a good spot for lunch. The food was really tasty and the service was very friendly. The only reason this loses one star is because it was quite pricey for what it was, but otherwise a really good place for lunch.

Great place. Can be busy. Great price good quality.. short but perfectly menu.. and nice prices wine. For sure a place to go.

As soon as I walked into Thämer’s I was made to feel welcome. The atmosphere was lively and the decor was traditional but comfortable. I had the burger which was the tastiest I’ve had in a while. The staff were friendly and accommodating. It felt like the other customers were local. This place was a little off the beaten track but a nice spot to have a bite or a drink in the evening.

An interesting spot just next to the city center. It's stylized in an old house/restaurant setting, however the menu is not reflecting that which is quite sad. Tried only the flammkuchen which was good and served quite quick, so mostly like they don't do them from scratch. Still it was crispy and had the right amount of ingredients, so I was overall happy. Finding the spot outside could be challenging, however during our stay the inside was basically empty. The only thing I didn't really enjoy was the pushy behavior of the service when you order, for example trying to convince you into buying a drink to the dish you order.

Very quaint old fashioned restaurant with a nice patio and interior. I visited on a Monday holiday so it was quite bustling but we still got great service Wait staff was very kind and English-speaking, although there wasn't an English menu offered. The owner offered some beers on the house! I had a burger with bacon and remoulade that was tasty but nothing amazing. Ratsherrn Pils was refreshing. Good variety on the menu with salads, schnitzels, burgers, and smaller bites.

Delicious food and beer! Walked around Hamburg on a Sunday where most restaurants that were open seemed quite empty but this place was busy and with good reason! Very good price and big portions.

Quick bite stop, food taste was average, price was ok type. behaviors of the staffs were average. Food taste could have been better. More menu options could have been adding more fusion.

It use to be my favorite place in Hamburg to have a wine and good foods, but the last years going there I felt uncomfortable with the unfriendliness, especially today…like commanding us to sit at the bar, where there were so many tables empty. I decided not to go there anymore. I deserve a smile with good service. I’m in service myself (reception) and I want people to come back again. I can find a smile and friendliness somewhere else.

Nice, this is the hipster version of a 'traditional Hamburg restaurant'. Solid Labskaus (you know, the dish that everyone sniggers about for looking as if it had been eaten once before, but tasting not too bad) - although if I were to make a recommendation to the chef, cut the Labskaus itself in half and instead add some of the signature friend potatoes (yum!) or some baguette bread; it's quite hard to finish off something so massive with this consistency, even if made very well. Good Ratsherren craft beer, too; quite popular; cheerful.

Nice little spot in a beautiful old Hamburg neighborhood. Part "Cheers," part New York neighborhood bistro. German staples and a few goodies like eggs and potatoes. They don't open until Noon (2p on Sunday). Perfect for brunching after a night on the Reeperbahn! FYI, they are very protective of their larger tables when it's busy. If you are one or two, they won't seat you at a four-top. Yours truly is traveling solo this trip and got relegated to the tiny bar. No complaints, as that's my preference rather than being the lonely dude at a big table. Also a good perch for people watching and composing pithy prose.

Nice cosy little pub. Service was very friendly, beer was cold. An open air market was happening in the square right next to this place. Good selection of dishes, the wurst salad was quite good. Came back for breakfast on Sunday. Three eggs, potatoes and sausage was fabulous, just the thing after a long night in St. Pauli

Really nice and cozy pub in the center of Hamburg. I enjoyed here a dinner after a soccer match...and it was kind of "rejuvenating". Nice beers and nice burgers. I took the Eva's: chicken breast, bacon and salad with fried potatoes. Really nice, good size and just 8€. Everything well cooked and the overall taste was well balanced. I really loved the internals, wooden table and chairs, rhe candles and the dark atmosphere!

We went last night while on a visit to Hamburg. It is off the beaten path but worth the walk. Our 82 mother on a birthday trip requested traditional German food particularly specials of the Hamburg area. Thamers did not disappoint. We all started with beer (of course) and she ordered up the Krabben. I ordered blackfisch and big guy wanted Wienersnitzel as we generally only have it when we are visiting Germany. We fancy ourselves bratkartoffeln snobs as we have had excellent and not so good. Thämer's was some of the best. Great atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Ordered the thämer burger with fries and 2 half pints of beers. Can't get better than that!

A delightful restaurant. We came here looking for a place to have a casual meal and drink whilst not being harrassed to keep buying more refreshments and could sit and chat without feeling like it was time to leave. There is the ground level restaurant which is rather snug the only table left was next to the toilet so we didn't fancy that (there is a reason no one sat there). We were then told that downstairs has more space. To get downstairs you come out of the restaurant and down the stairs from street level. A cosy 'tavern' type place with plenty of space. The waitress was happy and they were able to provide me with a English menu (yeah, I know..). Food was simple but looked tasty and very reasonably priced I felt. We opted for the recommended burger with fried potatoes (not chips as we know it). Burger came and was huge with a nice bowl of friend potatoes. The burger was delicious and can see why it was recommended. I didn't think I was very hungry but managed to eat every last morsel of food. We were able to stay there for hours without being harrassed. Waitress was friendly and service was prompt I have not complaints about this place and it was a very reasonable price. 2 good size chicken burgers with all the trimmings and fried potatoes along with a few alcoholic drinks and 2 hot chocolates all for €31.00. After that meal I was still feeling full and skipped breakfast the next morning! My only negative is that they do not take credit card payments and only cash. Wise thing to know before going there.

Thamers must be one of the oldest pubs in Hamburg, the bar looks positively ancient. The beer selection is interesting (they are the only bar that I've found to sell Duckstein Weizen) and the food looks great - I've only ever had the goulash soup and it was the best I've had in Hamburg. If there is one small problem, then it's that the bar is quite, er, small. Each time I've been I've managed to get the last table, but I've never been at what I would consider a peak time

Just around the corner from my flat in Hamburg, this place is brilliant with a group or just on your own. I have eaten here a few times and its my favourite local. It does great Roast Potatoes and lovely Weissbier!

After an aborted attempt to visit another restaurant on our first evening in Hamburg we found this delightful little pub. Tucked in a pretty, quieter part of Hamburg near the Hummel statue, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, the servers (not all spoke English, but were more than happy to get their coworkers who did, and English menus were available) were friendly and even attentive - not terribly common in Germany! You don't have only one server - the whole team is ready to help you. We were excited to try a craft Pils rather than something from the big breweries, so we ordered a few glasses. After a few inquiries we made our selections from the menu. I wanted to try a dish more local to Hamburg and our server helpfully pointed them out to me - all different herring dishes. I asked which she would recommend and she very helpfully told me that the Eingelegte Bratheringe (a fried herring dish) had started marinating that day, so it wouldn't really taste the way it should until it had marinated overnight and therefore suggested the Heringstopf - a dish with marinated herring fillets in a housemade cream with onions and apples. It came with Bratkartoffeln (fried potatoes) and salad. It was delicious but extremely rich. I couldn't finish it because we had ordered an appetizer (a very tasty goose terrine). The boy had pork schnitzel which came with a nice cucumber and cream salad that we didn't have in any other parts of Germany. Bottom line: The meal was reasonably priced, the service was friendly and efficient, there were Hamburg specialties on the menu, the ambiance was great, the area was pretty and the beer selection was good. Wholeheartedly recommend it.

Great food, large portions, reasonable prices and a quaint old world setting make Thämers the go-to restaurant in this area. What I like the most is the ambiance. It is dark and rustic. Whether with a group of friends or alone with a book, it is a great place to unwind at the end of the day. There isn't a great deal of sitting space inside, so if you are coming at prime time it is a gamble if they will be able to seat you. Favorite dishes here were the pan fish and the pork chop. Both come with a side of fried potatoes, which are very tasty. Potions on all the dishes were hearty. The staff is welcoming, and with a drink the average price is somewhere around €15 for dinner.

This was one of my favorite places while visiting Hamburg. Such a great welcoming vibe: old wooden tables, candles - cozy but not precious. The owner was extremely nice and they have an English menu too which was so nice after struggling to decipher German menus for weeks. I had the chicken burger which was incredible - full of flavor, topped with bacon and all the usual toppings. Highly recommend! I enjoyed it with a Petit Chablis which I rarely see for sale in the US - definitely not a wine snob approved pairing but it hit the spot. If you're in the area definitely try this spot out!

I love this place. It's nearby, is a classic bar, and the Polish owner/bartendar remembers every time that I am from Slovakia. Their food is basic but good...it's not a gourmet place, yet I've always been happy and never went home hungry. The bar is well stocked and they have a nice selection of beers I like. Sitting at the bar or in one of the "cubby's" each has its benefits and drawbacks. At times, the place can get tight as it's not that big. At the same time, it's very "gemütlich" which I consider one of the major draws for me. Finally, the Zwiebelkuchen rocks as does the Tzaziki. Both great companians to a good beer.

The beer is good. The service was poor / spotty. I think they prefer their local crowd who will be there. Not child friendly at night, though they have a kids menu.

I stopped in after ready all reviews, I code the Eva's chicken burger with cheese, reminds remoulade sauce and potatoes, everything was great, potatoes were cooked perfectly, the chicken burger was perfectly cooked and the best part was the remoulade sauce. I really recommend this quaint little place.

A pretty nice place for beer and food and a great place to sit outside in summer.

I like Thämers. It offers a friendly, beery old-style pub ambience without a hint of oompahpah or that sneaking suspicion that they're putting it on just for you. Much more personality than the other offerings at Großneumarkt. Food is hearty but good (mountains of bratkartoffeln with everything!) and I find myself coming back here often for dinner and to sit and read outside over a beer and enjoy the balmy summer evenings.

We stumbled upon Thämers during a frigid, windy Sunday, and it served as an excellent port during the storm. Though we didn't try the food, the Latte Machiatto and Pharisäer were just what the doctor ordered. Looking forward to trying out the terrace when the weather improves and upgrading to 5 stars!
