"Opposite Camden’s bustling market, Thanh Binh is a low-key Vietnamese store that also serves great food. The small family-run restaurant has had the same chef and same delicious recipes since 1970. A wide selection of dishes from rice noodles to spicy curries are affordable, and there are plenty of vegetarian options and three set menus at £18 or under.Where: 14 Chalk Farm Rd, Camden Town, London NW1 8AG, United Kingdom" - MATADOR_NETWORK

Came here twice so far with my partner and confident to say this will become our regular spot. The owner is lovley, attentive and fast. Warm and cosy vibe full of different customers. The food is very authentic and the best for Vietnamese restaurant I’ve had so far. The food reminds me of home and portions and price is decent. Lots of space and seats in the restaurant.

I had spring rolls and special beef pho. They said they had no pork spring roll so had to get the veg one. The spring rolls weren’t the Vietnamese cha gio so that was disappointing. Also we weren’t given any lettuce to wrap the spring rolls in…The pho soup was nice, flavourful, but the “rare” beef wasn’t rare and they only gave 1 meatball. Total was £21.50 . There was strange rust on the sauce bottled..

I had their beef brisket pho. Amazing food and even better services. I would give 6 star rating if it is an option.

This is an amazing restaurant has amazing authentic food and a great value for money. The spicy seafood Pho was delicious, one of the best I’ve had in London. I’ll definitely come back.

From the quiet Primrose Park and Regent Park to the extremely busy Camden Market, we found this tiny and authentic Vietnamese restaurant, with seats to sit down for delicious food. The Vietnamese coffee tasted great. The spicy pho with beef brisket was very spicy but tasty. I also enjoyed the green mango salad with prawns and the stir fried morning glory with garlic. Food tasted really homy and delicious. The staff were very friendly and service was fast and attentive. Definitely recommend in this area!

Outstanding fresh Vietnamese food in Camden. Everything we ordered was so tasty and fresh. We even ordered more food because it was so good. I tried the veggie spring rolls, hot spicy rice with tofu and veg, salt pepper tofu, Vietnamese iced coffee and homemade lemonade. Everything was great and it seems like a family run restaurant which was very nice to see.

Very afordable food. I have come a few times and haven't always enjoyed my meal. The meat in my pho soup was a little tough. But i enjoy the noodles. Excellent service, the staff are always nice. Although it is a small, busy restaurant, everything came quick. But the seating area is a bit tight, as the seats are so close together.

3rd iteration. I came back to try this place. It was one of my favourites, I had a delivery that went very wrong. Now I've come to eat at the establishment. Food, especially the Bun Thit Nuong, and spring rolls were great. I loved their Nuoc Muam. Service was excellent. Food came out quick. I will definitely come back.

Yelp
A nice surprise We already had some small lunch at the Camden Lock market when we walked by this place. We actually only planned for a few snacks and a cold beer. We took a seat outside (there's only one table), since we were travelling with our dog. We looked at the menu, which looked very good and ended up ordering a lot more than we planned (even ordered a second load of food). We had two plates of BÁNH MÌ TÔM (Prawn paste on toast with sesame seeds), the CÁNH GÀ RÚT XNG (2 Boneless chicken wings stuffed with minced pork & prawn, glass noodle and cloud ear), the CH NEM CHAY (Crunchy golden vegetarian spring rolls served with lettuce, coriander & chilli garlic soy sauce) and CH NEM (Crunchy golden rice-paper rolls stuffed with minced pork & prawn, glass noodle & cloud ear served with lettuce, coriander & fish sauce). Everything tasted fresh and the beer we ordered with was nice and cold. Everything was really good priced and service was attentive. A great place to grab some lunch if you wanna escape the crowds of the Camden Market.

Yelp
TL/DR: Dishonest shop owner overcharged us (£2) and blamed us for wrong order. Being extremely rude and threaten to call police when I record evidence. I used to be a recurring customer because their food was ok but this time I ordered the Char Siu Fried Rice and they mistakenly delivered Special Fried Rice (+£2) . I didn't notice this because Special Fried Rice also has Char Siu in it. When I calmly asked them to adjust the bill at checkout, the female owner quickly shifted blame to us and insisted we should remind her about the wrong delivery, all while acknowledging the fact that another server has mistakenly taken our order. At this point, things are going out of hand so I pull out my camera to protect myself. She instantly freaked out and threatened to call the police, all while screaming and shouting at me and others. I am really disappointed not only because the food has gone downhill but also my troubled encounter with the owner. I trust this is a genuine mistake but her reaction was way out of line. No customer deserved to be treated like this. And for those who are interested, I finally give in and I was pressured to pay the additional £2.

Yelp
nice cafe/small restaurant opposite the Camden Markets. Friendly and fast service - range of pho, noddle salad, Vietnamese curry and rice options available. We tried pho, curry, noddle salad and fried rice - all were devoured quickly and silently by the family. Noodle salad was fresh and yummy. Well priced. Highly recommended

Yelp
The service was amazing. The waitress was kind and helpful, being so patient in helping us navigate the menu. The restaurant was small and bustling; however, she still made sure to pay attention to our table and make sure we were waited on. The food for the price point was phenomenal, very inexpensive and tasty.

Yelp
Came across this small Vietnamese restaurant amidst all the busy food stalls in Camden. Vietnamese summer rolls came quickly, I would say within 6 minutes of our order. The ratio of parsleys and lettuce, versus shrimp, is a little out of proportion. Standard summer rolls, although the shrimps were rather small, and the dipping sauce was a little too watery. Then came the noodle soups. My BÚN CÁ (Rice vermicelli in fragrant broth with monk fish) was tasty and flavorful, the fish broth was rich and appetizing, light yet satisfying. There were also quite a lot of fish within the noodle soup, making the £8 I spent worth every penny. My friend's PH BÒ VIÊN (with meatballs) was also delicious. It's like a usual Pho, only added with a gracious amount of meatballs. My utmost favorite dish was the CÁ KHO T (fish cooked in clay pot). OH HEAVENLY and worth the wait! The sauce was rich and thick, not to mention that it was soaked within the fish itself as well. It was at the right amount of saltiness cooked together with savory blackbean sauce. Ah, just amazing. The bill came out to be around £15 per person for 4 dishes. The price is alright, not the cheapest, but not ridiculously overpriced. Might also be cash only? I would def def defffffinitely recommend the Bun Ca and Ca Kho To. Winning.

Yelp
Yay! I'm a fan!! I should have given it five stars really, but Im not that generous... The food here is really fresh, so fresh that you bite a crunch and feel all of the goodness oosing into your blood stream. Usually after eating a Chinese or vietnamese my heads pounding, my skin breaks out in spots, and I feel as if I've had a night out. But luckily I have restored my faith in Asian cooking, I left feeling refreshed and rejunivinated... yay! The owner lady is really chilled too, she very nice at suggesting what to have, thumbs up! :)

Yelp
My mum has been bringing me here since I was first born and although sometimes there might be a few years between visits, the woman who owns the place ALWAYS remembers us. (a matter which always brings us back each year, regardless of the good food) The owners say their family-run restaurant is the most authentic in the city and that their Vietnamese spring rolls are the best around (they are) It is a popular Vietnamese spot and has a few key things going for it; low prices, location, friendly service and good, honest food. There are not that many tables, so you never have to wait that long for service and the food comes quickly. Seafood is king here, but I strongly recommend the pho as well. For desert, the banana pudding is delicious.

Yelp
The best thing about Thanh Binh is how affordable it is. I often come here for the noodle salads 'cause they're really worth it! £6.50 for a portion that's big enough two and superrr tasty. The BO NUONG (chargrilled beef with lemongrass) is the best! Order that and a few side dishes and you're good to go. They also do takeaways and you can call to order in advance, but the portion sizes seem a little smaller when you do, unfortch. On the downside, the service isn't great. It usually takes quite a while to get their attention and the lady boss is either very friendly or kind of rude, but it's not a massive turn off. You don't expect the best service at a small family run place in Camden anyway!

Yelp
It was a lazy Sunday morning. No alarm clock had been set, I got out of bed around 11am. Looking out the frosted over window I shivered. Yup, another sub-freezing day in London. The stomach started rumbling." Hrm... I guess I should get some food. What to get on a day like this?" ...a grin began to slowly spread across my face as a fuzzy notion of what I wanted coalesced in my mind at the same pace. hot... soup? Spicy! PHO!!! I didn't want to go far in this winter weather having just woken up, but I knew from experience that the places within the first few streets from where I live had god awful pho. I had been planning on giving Thanh Binh a try for awhile, and it _was_ a 10 minute walk at most. So on went some warm clothes and I headed out and up towards Chalk Farm for my pho. I arrived less than 10 minutes after they had opened for the day and almost half the tables were already full with patrons. "That's a good sign, right?" The waiter brought the menu and I impatiently flipped through until the word Pho caught my eye, and I stopped. ...and I stared. ...and dissapointment started to slowly seep in. -break- They had four meager choices for pho. Chicken, steak, steak with meatballs, and pork with shrimp. Why is it so hard to find pho places in London that make pho with things like tripe and tendon? And what's with strange, almost sweet, garlic chili sauce as a condiment as opposed to a simple garlic chili paste, or something like sriracha or sambal (ok, so the Huy Fong brand "rooster" sriracha I know and love is American and Sambal is Indo/Malaysian, but both still closer to what I'm looking for)? Come on now, the simple things. Also on the con side, there were no form of onions in the accompaniments or the broth, and the amount of meat was minimal. To be fair, there were some pros. The plate of accompaniments wasn't bad. It was all quite fresh and there was a decent amount of basil, cilantro, peppers and mung bean (as opposed to the experience of some other Yelpers). Though I do prefer lime to lemon. Also the broth was decently well seasoned. Overall the pho experience here was probably average, but I had my hopes high. I don't think I'll ever go back for pho again, but I may go back to try other Vietnamese dishes. I did notice that they have the mung bean pancakes (the proper name of which slips my mind). I love these when done properly. I'm really struggling with whether to give 2 or 3 stars. You know what though? Beyond the pho I had a cup of ca phe sua da (vietnamese coffee with condensed milk, then iced), and it was the worst rendition I've ever had. Ok, 2 stars it is. It's harsh, but I plan to be back and sample other items to give Thanh Binh a chance to redeem themselves.

Yelp
My heart hurts giving this place a 3, cuz I've had the best pho broth here hands down, BUT let me tell you what's up with this joint. Family owned place, giving me grief about my ethnicity since nobody in L-town seems to understand that Americans ARE immigrants (minus the beloved Natives). After the 3rd exclamation of "you Japanese?" I almost threw a chair at the staff, Jerry Springer style. Food-wise, the pho broth as mentioned above was delicious, however upon asking for some basil to steep in my soup I was told they didn't carry any because basil only lasts for 3 days...so they never buy it. UH...I have never actually been told that fresh basil was not available at a vietnamese restaurant because it doesn't stay fresh for long....an open proclamation of low turnover. NICE. I can't wait to go back to Cali for some pho, piled high with all the fixins, and served with a lime instead of a lemon. Also the standard Sriracha hot sauce NEEDS to be there, none of this sweet Thai British-ized sauce BS. I'm probably going to get a lot of ish for this post, but it's the 2-year living in London ITCH and I am a-bitchin now. RANT-DONE. Apologies :(

Yelp
I love Vietnamese food, and love little independent places like this for their great food. This place is not that though. I ordered from their uninterested server, and received the most bland food I've ever encountered. I would have to rate it as the worse Vietnamese food I've tried. To add insult to injury, they added on a tip for their non existent service. Yeah, thanks for that. I usually like to give a place a second chance, but I won't be doing that here.

Yelp
I'm a bit loathe to write a review for this place because I think what makes it so nice is that very few people appear to know about it so it benefits from having a lovely quiet ambience and is still very keen to please! Absolutely lovely, tasty, unusual Vietnamese food that I want to go back to again. We had the frogs legs which were great, the soft shell crab which was amazing and a very generous portion. The aubergine was in a sauce that I could have licked the plate clean for. And when the lamb with plum sauce in lettuce was served they gave a really generous portion of plum sauce - which I find a rare thing in restaurants today. Also try the noodle salads - they were marvellous. Actually everything we ordered was wonderful, no complaints at all to be made - hoorah! Oh, and one last thing - also the Vietnamese coffee is a must have for all Vietnamese meals and this one was a proper one with the condensed milk and all. Oh, and one last other thing - it was cheap as you like. Lovely.

Yelp
No no no no no no no. I can't quite bring myself to give 1 star but I'm tempted. But I guess the pho was passable (if small, and onionless and served on a strange Japanese tray?!) and some of the starters we're quite nice, but sorry Thanh Binh, I so WANTED you to be good, or even just okay... but there are some things I just can't get over: The iced coffee was watery and didn't even taste of condensed milk. My boyfriends stewed fish was nearly too gelatinous to eat and covered in SO MUCH white pepper you couldn't taste anything else. The weird, sweet, watery chili sauce they gave was really bizarre and pretty disgusting Most importantly - service was added to the bill, but the person paying for our meal asked anyway to check and was awkwardly/mumblingly told it wasn't, and was asked how much she'd like to add ... so payed it again on the card to avoid embarrassment, I've now read other reviews elsewhere saying the same thing has happened to other people, so if nothing else, if you really have to go here, avoid being double charged! I won't be back.

Yelp
I'd give this place a 5 star if their Pho were better. To be fair, I've yet to find a decent Pho place in all of London. Hey I'm picky, I'm vietnamese and i was raised on this stuff. The problem with the Pho is down to the noodles, which I predict is the dried stuff. For proper Pho you need fresh Pho noodles, which you can't buy in London. The broth however was very good and also spring roll entree. Really generous filling will a crisp skin. If you go I'd recommend getting the "ca kho to" with "canh cua" with prawns and a serving of white rice. This combination is a typical Vietnamese home styled meal and something I've missed since moving away from my parents. The fish in the claypot was super fresh and delicious as well as the generous prawns in the sour soup. The sweet saltiness of the claypot dish fuses perfectly with the sourness of the soup. You switch between the two as you eat to cleanse the palatte and enhance each others flavour. You should mix the sauce of either dish into your rice too (depending on which you like better). Man makes me miss home so much!!! 5 stars for these dishes... I spoke with the owner before leaving. They've been in business 21 years and I can imagine they'll be around many more years. Can't wait till the vietnamese produce is more readily available in London because i can see this restaurant being able to do wonderful things with it. I still can't find good Vietnamese 3 colour drink anywhere!!!

Yelp
The pho I had was quite average, but for 6 quid I couldn't complain! I would definitely go back due to the very fair price range.

Yelp
Nice little family-run Vietnamese place in Camden. The food is really cheap and is cooked freshly in super-quick time. Nice ambiance with candle-lit tables and low lighting, with some interesting background music. Ideal for a first date!

Yelp
Popped in here quite randomly with the rest of my band when we had a couple of hours to kill between soundcheck and gig the other week and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food! It's quite a small restaurant that you might walk straight past on a busy day but the little old lady in the doorway enticed us in with her dazzling smile and friendly beckoning. The prices were reasonable and I went for the hot plate of beef, lemongrass and onions with steamed rice (£9 in total) which was absolutely delicious the beef was really tender (something I rarely seem to find in Asian cuisine) and the plate arrived in front of me literally sizzling and spitting which is always a bonus. Whilst I was really happy with my meal, a couple of my band mates felt a little let down by portion sizes however and one of the waiters bad English meant that a plate that was meant to be for sharing got wolfed down by our guitarist while the other lead singer sat there hungry until he asked where his food was and the manager had to come over and point of the mistake!

Yelp
I have had two very different experiences in this restaurant. The 1st time I came here was around 2 years ago when the owner served us herself, then the food was good quality, very tasty and gave a very insightful view and taste into Vietnamese food. Having this experience in mind I returned to Thanh Binh a few days ago for an evening meal, the experience was quite different. I found the food bland and tasteless and although service was still good I found the staff a bit inpatient. It seems to have fallen from a good standard recommendable place to something not even worth mentioning since there are a 100 more like them in London.

Qype User (Leonie…)

Yelp
Cute Vietnamese cafe close to the center of Camden but away from the crowds. Gets busy and cramped at peak times due to how good the food is - try and visit outside of these times. Noodle soups are full of flavour and cooked fresh; cold spring rolls with crab sticks are a great light starter. Everything is fantastic value for money and delicious. Greta place to try Vietnamese food.
google avatar

Qype User (sb…)

Yelp
It's just okay, I guess they're mainly catering for (non-returning) tourists, seeing food's a bit gooey and too much adjusted to European tastes. It certainly didn't taste authentic to me. But then again, after a night out as a late meal, you might appreciate it after all Unfortunately, they had also run out of water spinach, so all in all quite disappointing really.

Yelp
Than Binh is opposite Camden's Stables Market and it offers good Vietnamese food. It has to compete with all the food stalls on Camden Market so the price is low. Mrs. Bhin and her daughter were on duty the day I went . After a friendly welcome, I was offered the lunch and a la carte menu and was asked if we wanted a drink. This restaurant has a lunch menu 7 days a week and it offers prawn crackers to start with. I tried chicken with black bean sauce on rice which was very flavourful and savoury. An excellent stir fry. My friend ordered a Pho with seafood and squid which was also very tasty. The a la carte menu includes prawn and chicken sizzling dishes which are served piping hot at the table. The restaurant is clean and simply decorated with Vietnamese paintings and it gets packed at lunchtimes. Mrs. Bhin has been running this restaurant for many years so it has a loyal clientel. She has had the same chef for 23 years. She came to the table and asked if every thing was OK and also said goodbye to us when we left. There are a few other Vietnamese restaurants in Camden but Than Bhin offers much better food with lower prices and the portion is bigger offering good value for money. I will go back and try many more lunch menus and dishes on the a la carte menu.

Yelp
We went there with my family according to the comments and score on here. But the service was very very slow which means that four table after we arrived and ordered got their meals before us! The taste was not so good compare to the other viatnamese reataurants. I am not recommending you to go there if you don't trust your chance... I am totaly unhappy with this experiment:(

Yelp
Nothing warms the cockles of my...er...tummy, quite like a steaming hot bowl of pho. After wanting to try this place for quite some time, I finally made it. It's really cozy and cute inside, and although we sat in the front part of the restaurant, (which was busy at 6pm on a Saturday) the back room also looks nice, with fairy lights hanging from the ceiling. The staff were quite sweet and helpful too. So before we even stepped foot in the place, I knew that I wanted pho with beef. I didn't even need to look at the menu....although I did anyway. The menu told me that although I only really wanted a bowl of pho, it cost around a fiver, so I would have to choose something else as well, as there is a minimum spend of £8 per person. This isn't really a big deal, and I can understand why they do it (it's a small business and they don't want people coming in and taking up their tables when they are only going to spend £3.50) but I still found it a little bit annoying, because it forced me to find something else that I wanted to eat just to bump the price up, even though I would have been happy with just the pho. Anyway, we ordered shrimp summer rolls as an appetizer and it has to be said, they tasted very summery! The crunchiness and freshness of the salad and mint, along with the shrimp inside the roll was very tasty and refreshing and felt kinda healthy somehow. Don't ask me how. The pho was good, but as is the story of my life, a little disappointing after eating pho in California. The broth was yummy, the noodles were plentiful and the meat was ok, but the plate of extras was a little lacking. Whereas I am used to ordering a giant bowl of pho (that when taken home lasts me a couple of meals) with a plate piled high with fresh bean sprouts, peppers, lime, coriander, chilli as well as chilli sauce and hoisin sauce (all for around $4), this one came with a little plate that had one tiny slice of lemon (which looked already half squeezed), a couple of bits of vaguely dry coriander, 4 pieces of green chilli and a few bean sprouts that were getting brown and wilted, and frankly looked like they had seen better days... no biggie as I didn't really fancy bean sprouts anyway. Oh, I did have to ask for hoisin sauce too, and then they waited for me to use it so they could take it back. Now this sounds like a bit of a bad write up, but honestly, it wasn't bad and I would go back, it's just not one of the better experiences with pho that I have had. It was hearty and filling though, and satisfied my craving. Oh also, just a heads up - you gotta spend over £10 if you want to pay by card. I would probably give this place 3.5 stars if I could, as it is rather charming.

Yelp
Cheap as chips! Stumbled in from the rain on a first date and it was definitely a good choice! Definitely impressed both of us with quality of food (Crispy duck for the win!) and price.

Yelp
My girlfriend assures me this is the bomb - a Vietnamese place with authentic Vietnamese (and Taiwanese, as she spoke to) workers, and supposedly some excellent native chefs who are capable of producing a slap up meal. I took a gander inside and was impressed at the amount of choice I was given for food, and for the prices. True, a 'meal' is considered a bowl of noodles/soup/meat etc, but the price was still competitive. Look to pay between £5 and £6 for food that is nutritious and will fill you up.

Yelp
The service is great and the place is really cute. Unfortunately, the pho isn't the best. The spring rolls are pretty good and the location is great but when I want good Vietnamese this isn't the first place I go...

Yelp
This cute little vietnamese cafe is a no-nonsense, basic place that just serves great food. This is the perfect place to pop in for lunch as besides a good ranged menu they also do lunch specials of a main dish with rice or noodles. The welcome here is always friendly, and they serve food quickly enabling you to eat a fab meal and get on with your day, while still feeling like you have a good 'restaurant' eat. The food is nice too, good quality vietnamese.

Yelp
I have been eating regularly at this charming Vietnamese restaurant since 1990 when they first opened and the only time I stopped going was when they changed the menu last year. Now they put back my old favourites, so we eat there at least twice a month. This restaurant is owned by Mrs. Binh who has been running it for 23 years and she has the same dedicated chef since opening. She is very friendly and always chats with us. Our favourites are Cha Nem (Spring Rolls), Stir-fried Seafood Pho, Sizzling Prawn with Ginger & Spring Onion, and Squid/Beef/Chicken with Black bean Sauce. They are really top-notch dishes and the prices are very reasonable. The only thing I am a bit disappointed is the Pho, but my Japanese friend liked it. It has the clean taste but the stock needs more depth. One more warning is that Lamb is very fatty. They are very accommodating, so if you don't like chilli, garlic or coriander, just ask. They offer a good range of tasty £6 lunch and 6 of us went there last Sunday; I highly recommend Chicken/Beef with Black bean Sauce, Chicken with Lemongrass & Chilli, Slow-cooked Beef Brisket, Spicy Singapore style Stir-fried Rice Noodle, or my partner's favourite Pork Chop with Lemongrass & Chilli. I have never tried the vegetarian dishes, so I cannot comment on that. But I won't recommend anything with deep-fried Tofu or Mock Duck. Sadly they stopped serving Banana Fritters. If you are a fan, please ask them for it, so they might put it back on the menu. On our recent visit one Saturday in October, it was busy and there were only two person serving; the waiter seemed lost and he was just hanging around and not doing enough. He even forgot to set the table, so the group of 5 Japanese customers were left with no cutleries when their food arrived; one of them came up to the counter and asked for them. He also forgot to clear the tables and to give us our starter. I saw two new chefs/kitchen helps and the food was below par. They tend to be overwhelmed when the restaurant is busy, so you might not get a good service.

Yelp
They've been here forever and over all the years I've been going, they've never disappointed. Very honest and authentic, full of flavour and not to heavy. Just what you want either for lunch in market days or pre-night out dinner. Check out the photos on the wall: the Stones ate here.

Excellent Pho! I'm an expert! I have found one new place (you'll have to keep scouring the site), but these was by far the best pho broth in Camden. Enjoy!

Yelp
Well, I've never been to Vietnamese before. And I still haven't, because we got a takeaway. And it was lush, really really nice. I'm not the biggest fan of Chinese food, well, what we get from Chinese takeaways round my place, I'm not sure if that qualifies. But this was actually quite different. I was very pleasantly surprised. I started with 'Goi Cuon' which are a bit like spring rolls, but they're made with prawn and mint. Which was nicely different. Tucked into the Ca Xao Xa Ot, brilliant, it was Monk fish with lemon grass. Cooked to perfection, delicately spiced and flavoured. Been a good while since I had monk fish, but this reminded me of quite how good it gets. It was really really well cooked. And all round, the peeps I was with really really like what we got. We thought we'd push the boat out to be a bit adventurous, and were richly rewarded. Highly recommended, thanks Thanh Binh!

Yelp
This place never disappoints - except that it doesn't open on Mondays so you can't get your full 7 day v'mese food quota in should you wish to, which you might. I have been a regular since moving to Camden a year ago. Cheap, big portions and actually better than a lot of food I ate in Vietnam. Binh, the owner, is always happy to recommend a good combination of dishes for the newcomer. And although she doesn't work in the kitchen, the food is usually even better when she is around (she normally has Sundays off). Having tried most of the menu, I have to confess I usually stick to the pho - big bowls of noodle soup stuffed with meat and/or seafood, accompanied by a plate of mint and coriander, beansprouts and chillis, which you add to the soup yourself. But the real treat at Thanh Binh are the pork and prawn spring rolls, which you wrap in mint and lettuce, then dip in fish sauce and eat! Binh's is easy to find, situated opposite the Stables market on the high street.

Yelp
I've lived in Camden for the past 10 years and this has been my favourite Vietnamese restaurant in all that time, the food was authentic, service fantastic, the owner helpful and chatty and I recommended the place to a lot of my friends who also had a similar experience. However I'm horrified at how my favourite restaurant has changed beyond all recognition and now it's sadly lost one of its most loyal customers. I haven't been there for around 6 months but decided to take my in-laws last Friday for a special treat. Straight away we noticed that the menu had changed and that all of our favourite dishes had gone, only to be replaced by generic choices such as "chicken curry with onions", I asked the waiter if the old dishes were still available but he was totally clueless so I tried to get the owner's attention. In stark contrast to every other time I've been there (probably about 120 times over the past 10 years) she refused to come over to the table and eventually blanked me with a wave of her hand as she returned to her counter. A bit shocked and disappointed at this we ordered anyway and waited for the food to arrive. All I can say is that the disappointment didn't end there; the curry looked like it came out of a jar with texture like tomato soup and a few chopped onions, peppers and bits of chicken floating about in it. The spicy Singapore noodles were burnt and the spring rolls were almost empty with thick soggy pastry, my wife's soup was over salty and was pretty tasteless but spicy. Compared to all the previous times when we've left, congratulating ourselves once again with eating in the best Vietnamese restaurant around, it was very, very sad but nevertheless we decided to finish what we could and have a word with the owner as we left. That's when they really lost my custom and we encountered the worst Customer Service on record. We waited for the waiter to clear the table for 25 mins but nothing happened so we left the dirty plates and ventured up to the counter to pay there instead. The owner was clearly flustered but worked out our bill, pushing it towards us together, for some unknown reason, with a calculator. We duly paid and this is EXACTLY how the conversation afterwards went: - "We were wondering, have you changed chef and the menu in the last 6 months? We've been coming here for about 10 years and we noticed that it's really changed" "no, same chef, same menu...always been same menu[sic]" "You used to have a mixed starter, with crab salad, spring rolls, squid cakes, £5 per person, minimum of 2 people?" "no, nothing changed, you get all that separate, same menu" As she was saying this she was turning round, wiping surfaces, sticking her head into the fridge under the bar and frantically looking round at other tables and the dumb waiter so my wife asked:- "Excuse me, would you mind at least looking at me and giving me some attention whilst I'm trying to give you some feedback?" She carried on wiping, fussing and cleaning her hands but said with a pained expression "You tell me what's wrong and I'll pass it onto the chef?". We listed our issues but before we finished she suddenly stepped back with a pitiful look, pointed to her forehead, shook her head and shouted "very bad headache, very bad, please, please just go away!" before gesturing to the door. This was the final nail in the coffin; we walked out and informed her that we wouldn't be coming back and also that we were very disappointed because of the fantastic times we'd had previously. Our words fell on deaf ears by the looks of things as she was already pulling more dishes of chicken curry from the dumb waiter. So all-in-all we're incredibly disappointed, we're definitely not going back and will also be telling all our friends to stay away. We'll now be making another trip back to Viet-Anh on Parkway ASAP (which we haven't been to for such a long time) and will be hoping for a much better experience.

Yelp
The hostess was gracious and the service was attentive. The food was comparable in taste to, and even more authentic than, that of Little Saigon in California, where the best Vietnamese food can be found

Yelp
If there is less than 1, I would take that one . The Worst dinning experience in my whole life cos of worst customer service . I'm Asian and I'm a great fan of all Asian food but with the below average taste and bad customer service makes the food unworthy to try .
