Why Khlong San is Bangkok's next must-visit neighbourhood - SilverKris

"A traditional bakery known for Portuguese-influenced confections — most famously khanom farang kudi jeen, a Portuguese-inspired cake that visitors are urged not to miss." - Craig Sauers

A small dessert shop in a small alley located in a Kudichin, an old Portuguese community in Bangkok. The owner was very friendly and gave me advice about tourist spots in the community. The shop sells only a local sweet signature, Khanom farang kudichin (Thai-style cake influenced by Portuguese dessert), it is in two sizes large and small for the price of 50 and 20 THB. It tastes like Khanom Khai (Thai-style oval sweet cake made with egg and sugar) but has a crispy and crumbly texture because the shop bakes it without using baking soda and uses duck eggs instead of chicken eggs. In my opinion, this snack is worth to come and try, and after that, you can go visit around the community, they have museums, churches, and local restaurants.

A signature Thai dessert influenced by Portuguese dessert. The cake is rather dry than fluffy but it is their style of this cake. Good to explore the area in small alleys.

What an authentic place! It’s a hidden gem to sit quietly, enjoy the retro vibes and try some Portuguese cake with a nice cup of coffee. Off the beaten track

Quaint old coffee shop with possibly the most cheerful barista in Bangkok. Quiet and off the beaten path. They also run a class on how to make khanom farang. God coffee

When we arrived, they only sold prepackaged Portuguese cakes. Not tasty. Rather bland and very dry. The woman who sold them to us was pretty much buy one or not I don't care and put in minimal effort. Not a fan.

The drip coffee is probably the best i had after a long morning of cycling. Love the family and friendly vibes within this neighbourhood. Grab car or taxi might not reach directly, need to walk in some alleys to arrive but definitely worth it!

The best flour sugar. We love it. Indeed good coffee and non coffee as ice lemon soda. Nice owner.

Fantastic little cafe. Great tea and coffee and the traditional cakes are really interesting. Ask for a description of what everything 'means'. Fresh cakes are made throughout the day. Owners really make this place. Not the easiest place to find but if you visit the santa cruz church first. Walk to the Northern side and follow the signs to the museum (definitely take a wander around here) and then the bakery is just around the corner - ask for directions. The lovely museum owner showed us. We had been wandering around for a long while before we came to the right place. Cool and inviting place to spend some time. Definitely worth a visit.
