I was a member for six years. However, after repeatedly witnessing unprofessional management practices, I decided never to return.
Despite charging significantly higher fees than most gyms in Phuket, the facilities are outdated and poorly maintained, and member feedback is consistently ignored.
1. Feedback Is Treated as Hostility
I once suggested a reasonable improvement to a Muay Thai class:
“Perhaps class capacity should be reconsidered for safety reasons.”
Instead of a discussion, the fitness director entered the locker room and shouted:
“If you don’t like it, then quit.”
During classes, the same individual publicly berated members who left early, stating loudly that he “hates people like that.”
This behavior raises serious concerns about professionalism and member respect.
2. Membership Termination Without Explanation
The following day, I was informed that my membership would not be renewed. No reason was provided.
A gym should not function on personal favoritism. Members should not fear retaliation for providing constructive feedback.
3. Severe Overcrowding and Safety Risks
Group classes frequently exceed safe capacity:
・Participants collide during weight training
・A friend’s glasses were broken in an overcrowded yoga class
・Despite these incidents, no corrective action was taken.
4. High Fees, Poor Maintenance
・Showers heavily affected by limescale
・Equipment with unclear or missing weight labels
・Rusted equipment “repaired” by simply painting over corrosion
For one of the most expensive gyms in Phuket, this is unacceptable.
5. Conclusion
Many capable trainers have left.
Long-term members who raise concerns are removed rather than heard.
After moving to a properly managed gym, the contrast was clear.
This facility prioritizes image over safety, authority over professionalism, and silence over improvement.
6.Key Characteristics of This Gym
・A fitness director whose primary response to member feedback is shouting.
・A policy where memberships may be terminated if you displease the wrong person.
・Overcrowded group classes with inadequate safety considerations.
・Premium-level fees charged for outdated and poorly maintained equipment.
At a well-managed gym, problems are addressed and improved.
At this gym, problems are ignored—or the members who raise them are removed.
A Simple Question for Prospective Members
・Do you want to train in an environment where constructive feedback is discouraged?
・Do you want to worry more about management reactions than about your training?
If the answer to both is yes, this gym may suit you.
However, if you value:
・Safety
・Professional conduct
・Fair treatment
・A serious training environment
then the conclusion is straightforward.
Before committing your time and money, consider carefully whether this is the kind of “fitness experience” you are really looking for.
