I drove a scooter from Hao Lu old town because the reviews here were so good. I was not disappointed. The food was great. I had the coconut shrimp which I would highly recommend (and did to a couple who was trying to figure out what to eat). It was really good. Staff is INCREDIBLY friendly and make you feel very welcome. You can’t beat what you get for the price. It’s very reasonable and affordable. Beers are super cheap at just 15,000 for the local beer. I was very happy with this place and will likely go back again during my short time in Ninh binh

During our travels in Ninh Binh, we stumbled upon a truly remarkable dining experience off the bustling Tam Coc main streets. Nestled on a quiet side road, this eatery offered not only a peaceful ambiance but also an unforgettable culinary journey. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth by the owner, who was incredibly friendly and provided fantastic recommendations. Her husband, the talented chef, crafted dishes bursting with authentic Vietnamese flavors. We savored the succulent duck with basil and the tender goat with lemongrass, and we also ordered the crispy burnt rice and the zesty papaya salad, both of which perfectly complemented the main dishes. What truly set this experience apart was the personal touch. We were the only customers that afternoon, and our food arrived in mere minutes. After the meal, we had the pleasure of chatting with the owner, who shared insights into their cooking techniques and the fresh herbs they use. If you’re a food enthusiast seeking authentic Vietnamese cuisine away from the tourist crowds, this place is a must-visit. It’s not only great value for money but also a delightful escape into the heart of local flavors. We’ll definitely return every time we’re in Ninh Binh.

The owner was so lovely and friendly. She was incredibly attentive and gave us amazing service. The hospitality here was above and beyond. The food was exceptional. It was home cooking done at another level. You can taste the love and thought put into each dish. We ordered more food than we needed to but we ate pretty much all of it because we could not stop eating. I will always remember the vegetarian fried rice here, it has been one of my favorite things I have eaten.

If you walk in and no one is there DO NOT BE FOOLED! This place is the bomb. Just sit down and wait a second and the amazing owner will walk out. She is also the one who cooks. We got the coconut shrimp, lemongrass and chili shrimp, pork skewers, and garlic spinach. Literally every dish was insane.

We stayed in Tam Coc for 7 nights and we discovered this gem restaurant, and each night we ate here because of the excellent food served and the welcoming and warm service we received. The family own hotel Vista Tam Coc and the downstairs restaurant Thao Beo are all friendly, efficient, with genuine smiles, made us feel welcome and relaxed, served delicious food and drinks which were sometimes modified to our palate (extra honey or chocolate sauce for the yummy fried banana) and freshly made fruit juices and smoothies. Being able to pay by card was also a big plus for us, and there were no additional charges like at other places. We highly recommend Thao Beo restaurant, away from the dusty and noisy high street, with great and helpful staff, excellent service and tasty food.

We ate here twice during our 3day trip to Ninh Binh, that’s how good it is. Incredibly flavourful dishes, highly recommended the bun cha and the goat stir fried with lemon grass. The true highlight is the owner who went out of her way to make us feel at home. Besides advising us on which dishes to choose she also gave us some great advice for the rest of our trip. Highly recommend Thao Beo to anyone in the area!

This has become our favorite restaurant in Cam Toc. It is tucked away from the busy main road inside a new hotel, offering a much calmer atmosphere. We loved the lemongrass goat and the tamarind tilapia, both of which were recommended by the owner. Her attentive and thoughtful service was memorable and greatly enhanced our overall dining experience. We made sure to try something new each visit, but the papaya salad quickly became our must-have to accompany other mains. The restaurant accepts credit cards with no extra fees.

5 stars all the way!!! Everything here is delicious. The food is incredible and the owner family are the kindest and friendliest people. We came here 1.5 years ago and found this place by accident. Loved it!!! Returned again and found it even better. We haven't had a bad meal yet and we eat here a lot!!! The owner even gives us little extras each time for being so loyal 😊
