THAPOVAN HERITAGE HOME

Thapovan turned out to be a gem. Perhaps due to the harbor construction there are few tourists on site. Actually that made our stay more comfortable and we also got upgraded to an independent cottage. The staff (Srikanth) is very attentive and tries hard to help arrange your stay, visit and experiences. The food was just too good, the fish curries and Kerala delicacies and other dishes. The cooking class with the chef was outstanding as was the personalized catering of our food needs. The Ayurvedic treatments with Ajitha were just too relaxing and rejuvenating! Dr Anand is very attentive and provided a lot of useful information. We also made a trip to Kanyakumari 3 hours away with Thapovan’s help, and transport. The calm atmosphere and the beautiful surroundings were a balm to us visitors! The best thing here is nothing is forced in you, they go with the flow and only suggest after you ask them questions. A pity you can’t walk to the beach due to the construction. The noise at night can be a bit imposing if you are close to the harbor. But most of that lower location seems deserted with the exception of the Ayurvedic treatment rooms and yoga class area. Everything is in rupees except the treatments in Euros (which doesn’t make sense). All in all a memorable stay, delicious meals, and beautiful location. Would go there again should I be in that part of the world.

Wonderful retreat for authentic Ayurveda treatment. Highly recommended if you are searching a place to disconnect and rejuvenate, to feel physically and mentally reborn and to enjoy good ayurvedic food in a peaceful environment, far away from all the mass tourism resorts. Staff was so kind and helpful, the therapists very competent and yoga and meditation class with Vijay was life-changing. Thapovan is not for everybody. I'm pleased about that. The beach has been closed off to allow the construction of a major super-port and it is very sad. But turn your back to this and if you have eyes to see, you'll appreciate what a very special and marvellous place this is. You will have an amazing time here. Why?||||The staff are committed and cared for by the owner (they told me). No bowing and scraping, They have dignity, humour and the ability to connect and truly take care of their guests.||||The accommodation is some of the nicest I have stayed in at a fraction of the cost.||||The Ayurvedic centre is authentic. It is not run as a business - no selling unnecessary treatments or over-working therapists. Full autonomy given to Dr Anan and his team to truly adopt the philosophy of ayureveda unlike many other centres.||||The owner himself organised a quirky bespoke tour at my request to places completely off the tourist trail. No selling, no gimmicks - real living and working Kerala, an inside view.||||The most beautiful beaches are a fun rickshaw ride from the front gate and a free shuttle to Kovalum Beach will take you there and back every day.||||The food is freshly prepared, the portions are generous and both a main and specialsed menu is available. My cooking class with the chef means I can now cook a mean chappati! and I am addicted to cucumber lemonade.||||Every day signposts a new event, performance, activity, cultural happening for guests to take or leave and full transport & escort provided if required.||||Thapovan has the very best Sivananda yoga teacher in Rejeesh, able to read the group well and support fist-timers or push those wishing to progress. Kindness and gentleness allow everyone to try out or sit out - no pressure and lots of fun.||||I could go on...... There is construction work and a little noise (welcome to India) - but I will certainly return. I felt like a family member rather than a hotel guest. I can overlook a lot for that. Come like at home stay in a paradise. .My wife, four friends and I have been there in December 2015/Jan. 2016. Thapovan is more an excellent recreation center and not just a hotel. Thapovan has a fantastic seafront location in a palm grove or A/C cabins uphill with a marvellous view. We like to mention the arrangement of the individually “hidden” Bungalows under the palm trees - this is permitting privacy and are not for everyone visible. The facility is well maintained. The Ayurvedic applications are excellent as the treatment will only be done by those who have passed their exams at the the High School of Aryuvedic in Trivandrum, Keerala. , The Yoga Teacher helps you to understand Yoga and meditation. There is a "Ayurvedic spirit" in this resort without, however, being a too narrow one and without being dogmatical The guest come from all over the world. In particular, we have enjoyed the extreme friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Even though some might complain that the serving of food is taking a little while: Please remember that each and every food is being prepared and cooked when you will have given your menue order. The German owner Andreas Heitmann, his understanding to help each and every guest. His assistance and the assistance of his staff, whenever needed, is going far beyond that what a guest can expect. , his profound knowledge of Indian culture and his open minded attitude will give you a very comfortable feeling. Many guests have canceled their reservations when they were informed by Mr. Heitmann , that road work for a container harbour nearby had been started. We have stayed there for over 2 weeks and we were not disturbed. If there would have been any disturbance Mr. Heitman had offered us to search a new place for us. But this was not at all necessary. Thapovan is a place to feel completely at ease and you will recharge your batteries. Come like at home stay in a paradise. .

It's my fourth stay at the resort and amused to see the place is still maintained very well. The property is full of different varieties of plants and they keep on adding new. The staff is very friendly, food is great and a peaceful stay is guaranteed. Will definitely come back soon. Thank you!

We had a short stay here during our trip to Kerala. Honestly, our experience was below average. When we reached there was loud music from nearby temple, which was seriously annoying. Hotel was completely empty and I guess we were the only guests. We ordered bread-butter & team for evening snack, took forever to arrive and charged a bomb (and it wasn't even worth it)! I gave two stars as the breakfast was decent. FYI - This place is more for meditation or to get disconnected from everyday life, as it does not have television or Wi-Fi ;-) P.S - If any of family member can't walk much or have issues climbing stairs, I recommend not to book this place.

Thapovan Heritage Home is a very tranquil place. No distractions like TV or other forms of entertainment. A wonderful place for reflection. A lot of attention has been put into the details of landscaping this beautiful paradise. The sea is just metres away and if you stay at the Eagle's Nest, the crashing waves will lullaby you to sleep. The staff here are very friendly and helpful and will go the mile to attend to your needs. This place also has a wonderfully rejuvenating Ayurveda Centre. Will definitely make it a point to come back here when I can.

Beautiful property if you are looking for a green hideout away from the hustle and bustle of the city life. A place where you can spend days and days in perfect solitude and serenity. Their ayurvedic massage is excellent. The only spoiler is the noise from the harbour construction work and occasional blare of the temple loudspeaker.
