It's beautiful. There is a few cafes around it. You can chill and have a drink at the cafes while enjoying the majestic view of the stupa. Recommended!

The Black Stupa located in the middle of a roundabout was a sight to see. Loved it's ancient vibe. It was believed to be inhabited by a 7 headed serpent "Naga" who is a believed to protect Vientiane during crisis.

Its history makes it more interesting but its worth just to stop a second at this calm roundabout and stare at the Stupa

The Black Stupa (That Dam) in Laos is believed to be home to a mythical seven-headed Naga (serpent), a powerful spiritual guardian in Lao beliefs that date back over 2,000 years. Locals believe this NAGA protected the stupa from destruction during invasions by Siamese and French forces. Lao people often consider themselves descendants of the Naga. Meanwhile, the elephant is revered as a sacred symbol of Laos—once known as the “Land of a Million Elephants”—and is commonly depicted in temple decorations. I visited at late afternoon and enjoyed cafes nearby

Nice structure among french architect combine with contemporary urban. Good restaurant around. English speaking staff, well serve, afforable western food with mixed Lao's cuisine. Lot of trees with fruits, there are many birds gather chit chat, have fun, eating in the late noon, beautiful sunset.

I found this beautiful old pagoda by accident while walking around the city at night. The building is pretty and looks like it has a long history.

A large stupa located right in Vientiane, locals believe there is a 7 heads dragon 🐉 in here to protect people from Thai invasion in 19 century. There’s a cute cafe shop right opposite the stupa. However, the stupa is not so well maintained, a lot of rubbish along the path, people sleeping right at the chair. It is very quiet here at night. Walkable from here to Patuxay. Come visit if you have a day in Vientiane
