Extremely friendly and helpful when we admitted it was our first time there. Crepes were great and appreciated the tearaway sleeve to keep all the fixings in. Macaroons were fantastic, too!

Google
That French Place is the best! Very reasonably priced, my favorite latte is only $4.25! I’ve never had bad service there and their crepes are delicious. Very good atmosphere, and I love that the iced lattes have ice cubes made out of coffee so it never gets watered down. I would definitely recommend!

Google
That French Place really is THAT PLACE! Incredible sweet and savory treats for everyone. Love that their coffee drinks are all made in house and don’t taste fake-syrupy at all. You can tell that they’re locked into their craft when you look behind the counter and see them whipping up the items for the display case. No inside seating, but plenty of outdoor seats and they pack things up nicely for to-go orders. Don’t leave without trying one of their quiches or cookies!

Google
I was so excited to stop for a savory crepe for breakfast. We usually love them, but these were not your usual crepes. They use buckwheat, and we both thought they were not very good. My other half still ate his, but I chose to toss mine. We also got a quiche, which was kind of the consistency of cheesecake. It had great flavor, but we couldn't get over the supper soft texture. Still admittedly polished it off. The third item we tried was a bacon and egg pastry. That was definitely our favorite, and it took us no time to gobble it down.

Google
The food was incredible!! The had lots of different crepes and pastries to offer. The drinks were pretty good, all iced drinks come with coffee ice cubes which can ruin a tea but overall it was great. The staff was very kind and it did not take long for the food to come out. However, it was kind of cramped inside so I recommend sitting outside or sitting somewhere else in the town. Overall, definitely a 5 star breakfast spot.

The pastries here are so good, you can’t go wrong with any. However, I did not enjoy my latte, didn’t really taste like espresso was in it. Very milky. I would go here for pastries only.

Google
Went twice here in two days, and was very impressed by That French Place. The coffee is balanced and flavorful. Both croissants we had (different days, pain au chocolat and butter) were a bit overbaked for my tastes, but some might really love their pastries that dark. The crepes were both excellent and worth the short wait. But the two stars of the show: from the pastry case, the Kouign Amann was DIVINE. We ordered it both days. Buttery and sugary perfection. But if you only get one thing, make it the quiche. Truly the silkiest quiche I’ve ever had. I’d travel hours just to have the quiche again.

Google
The crepes were really good. Everything tasted great and fresh! When it's busy, you might have to wait a little bit for your crepe and coffee to come out, but it was worth the wait. The cheesecake and macaron were scrumptious too!

Yelp
Adorable storefront in downtown Charlevoix recommended by a friend! As I walked in, I was immediately hit with the delicious and comforting smells of baked goods aka butter. Their laminates (croissants, kouign amann, etc) are fairly reasonably priced but I was feeling the buttery shortbread-like stuff so I picked the Breton Cake (like a cross between a shortbread and poundcake)! It was delish - the perfectly dense puck was exactly as described and hit the spot. Would be great in the afternoon with some espresso! I also ordered a buckwheat crepe - with spinach and mushroom. Couple of stand out things: 1) the custom packaging is so smart! You rip along the perforated edges as you ear so you can hold it 2) they really think about the textures - I was worried that the spinach would make it super soggy but I could see that they chopped it up finely and sautéed it. Really like the buckwheat over a regular all purpose flour crepes! Saving the best for last - coffee ice cubes!!!!! Apparently they don't have regular ice cubes. So I had to get an iced beverage. Ordered an iced chai for a dirty chai situation. There's some tables out front but get your crepe & eat it marina-front!

Yelp
Food. We arrived just before it closed, and so the offerings were limited to few baked items on display. So we only had the Ted Lasso shortbread. AH-mazing: crisp, buttery, good balance of sweetness. Funny how simple ingredients ingredients can blow you away.... Maybe it is the presentation and packaging? Or. Quality ingredients? C'mon... it's name is "THAT French Place". Service and ambiance. Want to turn off customers? Give an annoyed vibe about half hour before closing and say, "Can I help you find something?", especially when you have a few items left on display in your VERY small bakery with a couple bistro tables. And, turn up the AC to freeze people out. Parking and things of note. Street parking. Overall, underwhelmed except for the shortbread.

Yelp
A nice location in Charlevoix to order up delicious crepes and cappuccino or coffee for take out to the bay park steps away watching the ship sailing to the island under the raised bridge on a beautiful fall day. We especially loved the banana/Nutella and Apple cinnamon crepes, with a side of cinnamon muffin! Excellent food and service!

Maggie S.

Yelp
The owners are amazing. Came here in January and they remembered my son's name when we came in the second time. The crepes were delicious (we first got a sweet, then came back for a savory). The baked goods looked amazing too but get there early because they sell out! You must visit!!

Chris K.

Yelp
Honestly felt pretty overhyped. We ordered online and were told 20 minutes to get our crepes. Could not order any bakery items online - yet they had plenty there - so they don't care to update the online ordering system. Order ended up taking about 50 minutes to be ready... and they never notified us it was ready, despite saying they would. The system is only as good it works in practice, and it really does not work well for this place. Crepe with nutella and banana was fine, but it would have needed to be memorable to make me forgive the bad service up-front. It was not memorable. The iced coffees were really quite bad. A disappointment for the rave reviews we had heard.

Jennifer M.

Yelp
The quiche! The quiche is amazing here. Very creamy and delicious! You will want to try all of them!

Annette J.

Yelp
Walking around downtown Charlevoix on a chilly, rainy day and I saw this place and was intrigued! I had just eaten a meal so I didn't go for a crepe here like I normally would have (even though they looked amazing) but I did desperately needed coffee so that was on the agenda. I ordered a latte and also picked up a few baked goods to try later, some Madelines and another kind of cake/cookie thing that I'm blanking on the name but it was SO GOOD. As I was waiting for my drink I chatted with the fella who I believe was the owner and a nicer guy you'll never meet! Truly so warm and friendly. You should pop in if only to meet this guy. So great! As I mentioned it was unseasonably cold so I didn't go for an ice cream either but their offerings are super unique, including a morel mushroom variety as well as champagne and chamomile, strawberry sichuan, and pumpkin garam masala. But if you're not into more adventurous flavor combos they do have traditional flavors like pistachio, lemon, chocolate and more. Definitely adding this to my "must visit" list every time I'm in the area. But next time I'll be sure to come hungrier to enjoy a crepe!

Irving W.

Yelp
I had the spinach mushroom feta quiche and it was one of the best slices of quiche I have ever had in my life. The coffee was also good and the cashier was super friendly. You get your food at the counter and take it to go or to a sidewalk table. Eating outdoors was a bit loud due to being a very nice day during peak tourist season but that's ok!

Stephanie G.

Yelp
Good crepes! The service was ok. Had to wait too long for my food, but the staff were friendly. Eating outside was nice in the summer.

Fernanda P.

Yelp
Great coffee and pastries ! Great service, they take their time to explain all the kinds of pastries they have, there is no place to sit down inside, but they have tables outdoors like an European cafe. Also they have excellent crepes savory or sweet.

Chelsea L.

Yelp
Adorable little café. Stopped for breakfast on a ride and had the best quiche I've probably had ever in my life, and was pleasantly surprised when my chai came out as a steeped tea and not mixed from concentrate. Made a point of stopping in again to try their signature crepes and again was not disappointed. Both the savory and the sweet were delicious, and again we were pleasantly surprised that the ice in the iced coffee was made from coffee! What a nice touch. Sets a new bar for five stars. Brava!

Ben C.

Yelp
The food here, crepes and pastries brought us right back to our European vacation. Highly recommended.

M P.

Yelp
Best crepe of my life! I ordered a Nutella and my son ordered a Nutella and banana. We both loved it! We will definitely go again in the morning.

Arleen G.

Yelp
Everything in here is amazing!! The minute you walk thru the door you smell butter! The owners put their heart and soul into everything. The baked goods and crepes are heaven! And they have delicious coffee. I love the ambiance here, very cute decor. I look forward to coming back

Naji

Yelp
The food is very good although it's expensive. Service is pretty solid besides the crapes usually taking 30-40 minutes.

Sally W.

Yelp
Beeline down to That French Place whenever you can! The joke in our family is that its freshly baked aroma, floating through the air outside its doors, is a gift in itself, but get ready for the authentic French charm that greets you inside! I guarantee you will be challenged trying to choose from the array of mouth watering pastries and quiches on display. Crepes are made to order while you wait, so pour yourself a cup of delicious coffee and enjoy. There is seating outside, or take your treasures to go, cleverly packaged in individual boxes. Here's the frosting on the cake: homemade applesauce included with the quiche. Don't miss That French Place, a Charlevoix jewel. Heartfelt gratitude to Brian and Emily, devoted, hard working and gracious owners.

Lisa P.

Yelp
I tried the bacon, egg, and Swiss crepe. It was so delicious that I wanted to go back the next day. Definitely worth trying!

Kendra L.

Yelp
We stopped in hoping to grab a crusty bread for soup that was cooking. No luck, but two in our group started to enjoy some lattes and pastries while the other two went to grocery store for some underwhelming bread. The food and drinks were tasty and the service very welcoming and friendly. It was an unexpected but thoroughly enjoyed stop!

Kate M.

Yelp
Hate to edit my review because I had such a wonderful experience a few days ago!! Which is why I desperately wanted to stop by once more on the way out of town. We were in a hurry so I placed my order through their online system, hoping it would be ready by the time we arrived. My husband stood in the looooong line to pick up and order his pastry. I thought for sure by the time he got to the front (20 minutes) they would be ready. No. She told him it wouldn't be for another 30 minutes?! She said she would try to get our two crepes to the front of the line, however, the wait continued. I took note of customers walking, standing in line and ordering. Shockingly, I saw them walk out with crepes as I continued to wait! Not right. Overall, I waited over 45 minutes! I think online ordering is a bit too sophisticated for a small shop like this. They are incredibly popular but it's not right to make mobile orders wait so much longer- if I had known I wouldn't have done it. Coffee was a disappointment today, as well. Very watery! Hopefully they can be receptive to my feedback because they do have great crepes!

Mary Pat M.

Yelp
The pastries are some of the most delicious I've had....especially the cinnamon rolls and kouign amann. It's a cute shop situated quaintly on the main street with a few outdoor tables. The staff was quite friendly, too!

S R.

Yelp
Almond croissant is out of this world I also had a few bites of the sage and bacon scone- not my jam (haha). Place is a gem in this resort town

Beth J.

Yelp
We visited Sunday am. Wait wasn't long. Ordered cappuccino and latte, no 2% milk had whole milk. The coffee was fantastic. PB cookies are sinful. Had Charlevoix Quiche it's savory and very rich with a light crust, with a small side of applesauce. My husband had a ham cheese crepe, it was good. We have high standards as we live next to Nathaniel Reid. I'm not sure why there are bad reviews. Just enjoy the delightful finds in this bakery and gorgeous surroundings!

Lauren S.

Yelp
This was my first time in and first time back to Charlevoix in over 10 years. We will absolutely be back and will make That French Place a stop on the list again. The iced coffee was great and even though they were slammed, there is a seamless process to order and get your buzzer so you know when your items are ready. This was my first ever Kouign Amann pastry, and I can say I audibly moaned with joy at the first bite. It was flaky, buttery, and oh so sweet. I'm hooked!

Sam W.

Yelp
Delicious crepes, the savory breakfast crepes were particularly delicious. Having both buckwheat and regular crepes works well for a gluten free diet! Latte was good. Cute location as well, would go back in a heartbeat.

Tracy F.

Yelp
I love this place! Sitting by the lake with one of their warm lemon crepes and cappuccino is a slice of heaven. I have tried several of their pastries and they are all made with love and well worth the calories! The tiny shop is adorable and has a great vibe. The owners are warm and personable. If you visit during high tourist season, be prepared to wait (I have found this to be true of all the great restaurants in Charlevoix). A nice touch - you can go shopping or people watching and they buzz you when ready.

Larry S.

Yelp
Amazing food, very delicate and French like. Wonderful and delicious. The quality is high. Love it!!

Madison P.

Yelp
This was such a cute place to visit on our trip! The staff was so friendly and was very patient while we were deciding what we wanted to eat. And the food? It was like heaven in my mouth. I got the Charlevoix quiche and a nutella crepe and it was just amazing. I would consider making the three hour drive again and again just so i could experience this place all the time.

Annette R.

Yelp
Great place to visit... they are old school, well known in town, and you can watch them making your order. I ordered the spinach, mushroom and swiss crepe, and it was quite a while until our order was ready (crepes can't be produced quickly). It was good--nothing to get excited about--but I blame that on my American palate, since I like sauces and gravies with everything. That's how I wish these crepes were made. But I believe this place is an authentic creperie, so that's on me. Next time, I'll opt for one of their sweet crepes and I'm guessing I'll be much happier. Staff is great.

Maddie C.

Yelp
We were so pleased with our trip here! The staff were very kind and our food and coffee were amazing. We tried the bacon, egg, and Swiss on the sweet crepe and it was phenomenal. Definitely recommend!

Dawn V.

Yelp
We were in Charlevoix for the 4th holiday this year, in the middle of the pandemic, and these ladies are handling the challenges with hustle and great service! You cannot enter. They have converted the front door to a walk up order with contactless payment. (Credit card swipe outside for you to do it). They had , and seem to always have, a little crowd awaiting their turn and they move those orders quite quickly. (Crepes are not a super fast food to make so that's not easy) We ordered a ham/cheese and an egg/cheese and both were terrific.

Suzanne B.

Yelp
For a recent breakfast in the go in Charlevoix, That French Place proved to be the perfect spot. After checking out of my bnb, I wanted something for the road that wasn't just the granola bar or apple that my bed and breakfast had provided. A quick Yelp search turned up That French Place, which was quite close to my location and had good reviews. A quick stop by the windows revealed some tasty-looking pastries, which sealed the deal. I placed my order for an almond croissant at one window, and waited a few minutes until it was delivered at another (pandemic flow). It was a drizzly morning, but I found a nearby bench under an awning and pulled out my croissant. That French Place must be incorporating this American style to their food. I'm used to an almond croissant with a bit of almond paste inside and some slivered almonds on top. This was more like a plain croissant slathered in a brown sugar almond flavored crust/frosting with a bunch of slivered almonds over the whole thing. While it was quite tasty, it wasn't as authentic as I had hoped and actually left me wanting to brush my teeth from the sugar! Still, I could tell that it was fresh and made with good ingredients. It's a solid choice for a fast breakfast and one I would return to, maybe just for a plain croissant next time!

Matt M.

Yelp
Omg the pastries! Almond croissant was amazing. Saving the chocolate for later. I will be back

Cece S.

Yelp
BEST coffee in Charlevoix!! Super friendly staff & great menu options. Love that they use ice cubes made out of coffee instead of water so it doesn't water down your drink.

Heidi E.

Yelp
The full package. I cannot express how much J'ADORE "That French Place." It's one of those places I dream about for months, as I am not local. I first enjoyed this place a couple years ago, and each time I'm in the area I visit as much as possible... and the rest of the year I'm left salivating for my return. They are wonderful for being gluten allergen friendly -- I always enjoy 2 of their buckwheat crêpes--One sucré and one salé (1 sweet and 1 salty crêpes). The caramel buckwheat crêpe is decadent and worth the visit alone. They also have a wonderful, KIND, and knowledgeable staff who all seem to genuinely love their job and appreciate your patronage-- a hard thing to find these days! Also worth mentioning are their espresso drinks and fabulous teas! I've had several lattes, cappuccinos, and my favorite-- a London Fog here! They have very yummy looking pastries here but I have not sadly been able to try them as I have a gluten intolerance. They look absolutely divine and I've heard other customers raving about them! The absolute dream leisure breakfast/brunch spot to people watch, or an easy and quick grab and go place as well! I will come back every time I'm in the area and continue to recommend this place to anyone I know! Thank you for always having a wonderful staff and consistently delicious food and drinks!

Eng C.

Yelp
Tried the spinach mushrooms Swiss crepe, bacon and egg crepe and lemon crepe. It's good. Patronize twice. Waited 5-10 minutes for the crepes and was lucky to be ahead of the line!

Gabi M.

Yelp
Wow... That French Place is a fabulous, five-star, (local) find! On a recent morning spent in Charlevoix with my family and some friends, we happened upon TFP on our stroll... perfect timing as we were all a bit hungry for a snack. We shared a couple of butter and sugar crepes that were to die for, as well as a slice of delicious quiche. My husband and friend also enjoyed their coffee and a smoothie. The storefront is small but worth a wait if you encounter one as we did... Sit outside and people-watch and then enjoy your crêpes on-site or take advantage of the "crêpe cones" in which they are served and eat as you stroll through town! Note: they are served hot, so you may need to allow your crepe to cool a bit before digging in. Additional reasons to visit That French Place: friendly, fast-casual service, a clean bathroom for patrons, and wi-fi.

Tasha d.

Yelp
It's great that half their fare options are GF buckwheat crepes. The spinach, mushroom and herb crepe was what it should have been. Only downside was this little place was slammed so it took 45 mins to get one crepe. If you are going to go, go early.

Jeff P.

Yelp
Amazing amazing amazing! I love this place, we try and stay inc charlevoix just to eat here :). They are accommodate allergies and are so careful about it. The food is delicious. Be ok to wait ... but it's worth the wait. The staff is friendly and amazing!

Carol P.

Yelp
I ordered a Latte and Buckwheat spinach and mushroom crepe. Delicious. Portable too. Walk and eat. I really enjoyed my breakfast and the buckwheat crepe was packed with delicious flavors too. Not bland at all.

Gail S.

Yelp
4 thumbs up from my daughter and I. Sweet crepes are what we wanted but savory crepes are also on the menu. Friendly staff and well priced.

Gail G.

Yelp
Really impressed with the variety and that they had Gluten Free crepes. Coffee was good and crepes excellent. Try the Ted Lasso biscuits!

Dave F.

Yelp
While in Charlevoix for the weekend we had breakfast both days at That French Place. The bacon egg and cheese crepes and croissants we delicious. The shortbread biscuits "Ted Lasso" were so good I bought a pound of them. Don't forget the coffee it might be worth the trip on it's own.

Erin B.

Yelp
Perfect pastries. Exquisite crepes. Heavenly aromas. Just what you want. Still no indoor seating but you can order inside and breathe in the smells of fresh baked goods. I hope someday they'll have something other than paper cups available.

Stefany F.

Yelp
Don't miss this local gem! Their pastries and crepes are homemade and truly a taste of Paris. Be patient and call ahead if you can though. They are in high demand for good reason and the staff couldn't work any harder or be any nicer.

Angela N.

Yelp
Came by for a coffee and breakfast and was not disappointed. Everything was absolutely delicious and I appreciated the COVID precautions. Be prepared to wait unless you can call ahead. Worth the wait! My quiche was light and airy, the cinnamon roll was perfect with some delicious crunch on the bottom and outside. My son ordered a sweet and a savory crepe and he was happy with both. We ate at an empty park to the left of the restaurant in order to be removed from the crowd waiting.

Sue W.

Yelp
Deliciously authentic French baked goods. We will be back to enjoy more treats very soon!

Sally D.

Yelp
Friendly and accommodating staff helped us with a quick pick up order for our grandma who hadn't had crepes in years and...loved them! Even though we had to wait to eat them, which lost the fresh crunch, it was still so good so we have to come back to try them fresh! We tried the banana and Nutella, and the apple with caramel. You can't go wrong and they didn't with the warm bananas with the silky smooth chocolate-y nutella but my personal fave was the apple with caramel because it wasn't too sweet and had a bit of crunch left on the apple! Definitely coming back here to try more. Sad I didn't get a picture before we gobbled them up haha

Andrea K.

Yelp
This place is a must visit every time we go to Charlevoix. The caramel crepes are my favorite along with the chocolate chip cookies. My mom prefers the jam ones because the jams are homemade. The cookies are perfectly flavored with crispy edges and a soft center. Delicious! I also appreciate that the crepes come in a holder so it's not too messy. Make sure you plan accordingly because they do get very busy and crepes and coffee drinks take time. Everything is made to order, and it's worth the wait.

Tina B.

Yelp
This place is wonderful! The food is always delicious, and Emily is just lovely! Thank you for making That French Place something we look forward to every year during our visit to Charlevoix! Happy Birthday, Emily!!!
