The 1661 Resort

I don’t know why you’d stay anywhere else on the island. The location was gorgeous and perfect. Close enough to the action in town, and just a short walk away. The grounds were beautiful, and the views of the ocean amazing. The room was very nice. The breakfast and evening wine and nibbles were a perfect way to start you day, and your night. Finally the staff were top notch friendly, and attentive. Would highly recommend to anyone going to Block.

We had great stay at the Dodge cottage for two nights in August. The rates were competitive or a little better than other similar options. ||We really enjoyed the room. It was very clean and quiet. The cleaning staff were very nice and helpful. ||We used some of the extra perks that the hotel offers. Although it was up at the 1661 house, we enjoyed the coffee and complimentary pastries for breakfast. We didn't have time to try the buffet. It was really nice that they kept our bags while we went to the beach on our last day after we checked out. We were even able to take a shower before we got on the ferry home, again after we had checked out. And we had some complimentary wine and cheese that day as well. They even had a free shuttle to the ferry, which was a nice way to end our trip. ||We would definitely stay here again.

1661 Inn is such a wonderful place. So many options for accommodations. We stayed in the Ball room and others with us stayed in Dodge Cottage. Imagine if you woke up in the morning to a view of the Atlantic Ocean 500 feet from your porch. Fresh flowers in your room and a wonderful breakfast buffet with fresh produce from the garden on site. The staff was so friendly and always willing to help. Rita, the owner, making sure everyone feels comfortable and available for any questions or concerns. The convenience of the location to the waterfront activity area was so easy to walk anywhere. Also as a pleasant surprise a ride to the ferry landing at the end of the trip so we didn't have to drag suitcases. Thank you 1661 Inn.

We decided to make the late October trip to Block, and we're very glad we did. The 1661 Inn proved the perfect spot. Great location...walk to town. Short trip to the beaches. Our 1st floor room off the lobby with an ocean view was clean and very nicely appointed. We spent much time on the porch reading and enjoying the view. The Inn is quiet, particularly at this time of year. Front desk staff could not have been nicer or more attentive to our needs. They gave us great input on where to dine. At this time of year that can be tricky. We will be back!!

Everything about this stay was fabulous! Beautiful well kept room, perfect location overlooking the bluffs and a delicious breakfast buffet. The staff was so friendly and definitely felt like a well cared for family run business. Until next time!

Exceptional service, friendly staff, great breakfast and fabulous location. We stayed at one of the rooms with a shared bathroom with three other rooms, booked through Hotels.com, so it was quite reasonable (recommend spending the extra $ for your own bathroom). However, I will say the WiFi was spotty probably due to the distance from the router and the side tables and bureau should be replaced (they appeared to be a cheap particle board). There were also no complimentary waters in the room; an oversight? Lucky we brought our own! The best part about 1661 Inn was the farm! They had Camels, Tortoise, Guinea Hogs, Emu, Lemur, Kangaroo, chickens, rabbits and more, unbelievable!

We stayed at the Hendrickson House, it wasn't entirely clear from the website that it was an entirely separate property. The location was amazing, right in the heart of the little town. No parking, so if it's raining you'll walk back to the lots in the weather. The room itself was not great. Some fixtures didn't work. Overall I probably wouldn't choose this particular property again when visiting BI. The views and history are amazing, but it looks like there are many nicer properties. At checkout no one was there at 6:45am, so we left our keys on the desk and had to leave to catch the ferry. No word or email yet as to having received the keys or thanking us for the stay. My GF stayed on the property as a child, it did not match her memories. Overall BI was a great experience.

Recently visited the island and stayed at 1661 Inn. After our car was parked on the ferry for the way home I noticed I had left jackets/scarves in the closet at the Inn. With no time to walk back - we quickly called the front desk. Although I wouldn’t have minded an excuse to visit the island again :) Logan saved the day by bringing our coats to the ferry before it took off. I really appreciate how she went above and beyond for us !! This has been my experience with her every time I stay at the Inn. Her patience and kindness really add to what makes this such a special place to visit !!
