The 1661 Resort

We love Block Island and come out a few times a year, so this was the perfect fit for our elopement! We stayed at the Farm and Garden Cottage (Campbell) as this space was pet friendly. The cottage was adorable and updated with modern furnishing and a full kitchen. Our favorite bit was being so close to the farm and visiting with the animals in the morning. The accommodations were very comfortable and clean, we felt right at home. I appreciated that they called us every day and asked if we wanted service, which was helpful as we had the dog and did not need cleaning each day.||The staff is great and friendly. We appreciated the morning breakfast and afternoon wine and nibbles each day. 1661 is a great place to stay, all their properties are wonderful and are open year round. They made our wedding weekend just perfect!

Just had a wonderful 2 night stay. The jacuzzi tub was wonderful. I feel so rested and relaxed, exactly what you want from a vacation. Breakfast was generous and why not have a mimosa at 9am? The 4:00 bites and sips was also lovely and a nice moment to interact with other guests and attentive staff. The farm across the street was a delight! A camel?! Kangaroos and lemurs?! Can’t wait to come back in warmer weather.

My husband and I spent the weekend of October 11 2025 at 1661 Resort. The breakfast buffet, and the "wine and nibbles" served at 4:00 every afternoon were delicious...and at no extra charge. However the true test of their excellent hospitality was proven when a hurricane came roaring in on Sunday. There would be no more ferries until Wednesday morning. So our original two nights became four. Our extra nights were chanrged at half price. Our original room was in a second building a 5 minute walk away, but for the last two nights we were moved to the main building. It was a spacious, beautiful room with a bathroom you dream about. The breakfast and afternoon nibbles were still provided every day, even though the extra guests were not planned and there were no ferries coming in with supplies. The hotel owners and their staff could not have been more gracious throughout the experience. I highly recommend 1661 Resort to anyone of any age visiting Block Island.

An off-season stay at the 1661 Inn is pure magic, and this weekend was everything we needed—peaceful, cozy, and completely rejuvenating. We stayed in our favorite room, The Arthur, which feels like a private retreat with its fireplace, amazing hot tub, and unforgettable shower with 12 shower heads.||We loved the thoughtful touches that make the 1661 Inn so special, especially the afternoon Wine and Nibbles and the Champagne breakfast each morning—such a relaxing and indulgent way to start the day. Our days were spent walking the beaches, playing the Great Game and discovering new sights, enjoying local traditions like the Lobster Pot Christmas Tree and checking nightly for the Block Island Glass Float, and even catching a Jamaican fundraiser with great local musicians at Yellow Kittens.||On our last day, we were lucky enough to see snow on Block Island for the first time, and it was absolutely breathtaking. Most of all, this was an amazing getaway with my husband Steve—unplugging, slowing down, and just enjoying each other’s company.||Innkeeper Rita and staff member Eric truly went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable, and the entire staff was warm, welcoming, and attentive. The 1661 Inn continues to be our favorite place to stay on Block Island, especially in the off season. We can’t wait to return. 💙

We had an absolutely fabulous stay at Dodge Cottage, one of the 1661 satellite houses. Clean, quiet and great location around the corner from the charming downtown area. We had never been to Block Island and didn't know what to expect. It is understatement to say we were blown away by the beauty and friendliness. The brunch and happy hour at 1661 with that unbelievable view of the ocean were highlights for us. Every staff member was super-helpful. Whatever they are doing there in training staff and creating a hospitable culture is definitely working. Thank you. We will be back!

recently stayed at 1661 with my mom and we had an amazing trip. the resort is clean, staff is very friendly, and rooms are cozy. very conveniently located too.||we loved the complimentary happy hour each day and appreciated the complimentary champagne at breakfast too!||they have a garden across the street, be sure to check it out because the veggies are so fresh and delicious!||i also appreciated the fact that they had a coffee machine in the lobby with some treats/muffins that was available 24/7. water too, so we could refill our bottles at any time of the day or night.||can't wait to come back!

Valentine’s Day stay and Emily was very helpful. We called before we arrived and she sent us a list of restaurants that were open. This way we could make reservations for dinner,etc. She checked us in and made sure we had everything we needed. This is off season and she was by herself. I have to say she handled it very well. We had family on the trip with us who joined us for drinks and she attended to all of us and the other quests. She was the attending to the front desk, bartender, etc. She did not miss a beat. Impressive! We were on the island in Sept. My friends stayed here and loved it. I come often and have had brunch here, but this is the first time we’ve stayed. The room was spacious. My 10yr old loved her pull out bed. She asked us to stay longer she had so much fun. Our room was the Tosh. The view is great, they have cheese and wine in the evenings and like I said I’ve had their brunch, it’s great. Emily checked us out and I asked if she would be there in Aug/Sept. Told her wood call her to book and I look forward to seeing her. She was amazing!! I also have to give Rita a shout out. I met her in Sept and she was such a gem to my friends who were staying there. They are all very accommodating.

They’ve truly created a tranquil, modern vibe that sets this place apart. This is hands-down the nicest accommodation on Block Island. Every detail has been thoughtfully designed, and the staff goes above and beyond in every aspect.||The property is meticulously clean, in a superb location, and totally family-friendly. You simply can’t go wrong staying here.||Bonus: the offseason is the perfect time to explore Block Island — peaceful, scenic, and uncrowded. And don’t miss their breakfast — it’s a highlight, with stunning views, a laid-back vibe, and the kindest service around.
