I was informed by the NH Collection staff that the beach club pool “305” is part of the hotel and that hotel guests are allowed to use the adults-only pool.
After walking from the beach, I asked two lifeguards to confirm which pool belonged to the NH Collection hotel, as I wasn’t sure which one we were permitted to use. I then sat on a pool bed while waiting for my friend and ordered an iced coffee from the waiter.
Shortly after, I noticed a security gesturing from across the pool, indicating that I should leave. At first, I assumed he was speaking to someone else, as I would never expect that kind of treatment toward a hotel guest. A minute later, he approached me directly and, in a rude and intimidating tone, told me that I had to wait for my order at the bar and that I was not allowed to use the beach beds because they require an additional payment. He said that if I wanted to pay, I should speak to the staff members wearing pink shirts.
I was uncomfortable with the way this situation was handled. Instead of being approached politely by a member of the main staff and having the policy explained in a professional manner, I felt singled out and spoken to in an unnecessarily harsh way. The tone and approach were intimidating and not what I would expect from hotel or beach club staff.
After that I moved somewhere else where apparently I could stay, still ordered drinks from the bar which were good. Music too, but unfortunately I'll remember this rude treatment for very long time. How could they send security instead of having a friendly chat with me in the first place?
