4 nights stay in room 202.|The room was spacious, airy and bright double aspect room with king-sized bed. Extra pillows and blankets available. Working TV and air conditioning. Carafe of water, refreshed regularly. Shower over bath, good towels and toiletries provided. Wooden floor. Safe in room. Great position in central Lisbon. |Lighting outside room broken so corridor dark, sensor lighting in other areas responded too late so starting stairs in the dark. Nail sticking up out of wooden floor, hazardous to bare feet, cleaners must have noticed this when sweeping or mopping room floor. No plug for bath, so I assume they just want you to shower. Inadequate mattress, the sort you'd have on a spare bed in a back bedroom and rarely used, not up to the right quality for paid accommodation. On the website info said Nespresso machine on every floor with fruit available, none of this had been available since 2020! Website 5 yrs out of date. Staff apologised for incorrect info on the website. I suggested that they might at least offer us one hot drink in the morning as a courtesy because of the missing advertised provision. I was told they would ask. Heard nothing from staff, another person in our group also asked, so staff were given ample opportunity to make an offer to us but clearly were not interested, which was disappointing. I did ask on the first morning for a decaffeinated coffee, but no decaffeinated coffee possible. I realise this is a 3 star establishment but the improvements which could have made a big difference were customer care and minimal cost for a hammer for the nail and 1 plug for the bath and a few coffees. The only big outlay would be mattresses, which need to be of quality when you pay a place to sleep there. |My first stay in a place like this in Lisbon so I've nothing to compare it to locally. It may be great for Lisbon?

This place is great, well deserving of a much higher rating than the current! In Lisbon for only a day before catching a flight early tomorrow morning and the stay here was perfect. Super clean rooms, comfortable pillows, front desk staff very friendly, and a cute little reading area. Perfect

Worst hotel experience ever. Stayed at Hotel 8 in April — or more accurately, we couldn’t stay. Room 101 stank of fresh paint so badly it gave me a migraine. The room was filthy and poorly maintained. We left after 10 minutes, it was that bad. Staff were rude and refused to help. On top of that, they entered our room while our stuff was still inside — a total invasion of privacy. We paid €800 for nothing, and they refused to refund a single cent. Absolute scam. Avoid this place at all costs.

The front desk staff were very friendly, especially Pedro, who welcomed us warmly and helped us a lot. He gave us plenty of tips on places to visit and where to eat in Lisbon. Location 10/10 close to everything.|The room was spacious, but unfortunately needs a bit refurbishing. The curtains were dirty, and there were nails sticking out of the floor in several places. We had to tape some of them down to avoid stepping on them.||The place has its charm but needs refurbishing.

I don't even know where to begin with how bad this place was. The room stank the moment we walked in - a mix of mildew, sewage, and old cleaning chemicals that gave me a headache. We were given a room on the 5th floor, but surprise: the elevator only goes up to the 4th. We had to drag our luggage up a narrow staircase to the top. Not exactly the "luxury" they promise. Our window opened to a view of filthy, trash-covered rooftops, and just outside was a noisy, disgusting exhaust vent that blasted hot, stinking air all day and night. It was impossible to open the window without feeling nauseous or being deafened by the noise. The room itself was dirty-dust on surfaces, grime in the bathroom, and stained linens. To top it all off, the beds were like concrete. I've slept on camping mats that were softer than this. And then there's the lady at the front desk, who was shockingly rude and completely unhelpful. Any question or issue we brought up was met with eye rolls and attitude. She clearly hated her job and wanted us to know it. I genuinely regret booking this place. It's one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. Save yourself the stress and book literally anywhere else.

We booked Hotel 8 in April, and it was a complete disaster. The moment we entered room 101, we were hit with a nauseating smell of fresh paint. It was so intense it gave me a migraine within minutes. The room itself was dirty, poorly maintained, and absolutely not ready for guests.||We stayed barely 10 minutes before deciding to leave — it was physically unbearable. When we asked the receptionist for a room change, she was rude, dismissive, and claimed the hotel was fully booked.||Worse, while we stepped out briefly (our belongings still in the room), the receptionist entered the room without our permission. This was a shocking violation of our privacy.||Despite all this, the hotel refused to refund us. €800 gone for a room we couldn’t even stay in. Amex Travel has been unhelpful too.||Do yourself a favor — stay far away from this hotel. It’s not worth the risk.

We stayed here for 3 nights, and while it was styled nicely, the cleanliness and condition of the room was well below average. All the walls were covered in marks including dirt and makeup (in the bathroom). The toilet under rim was covered in black mould - to the point where when we'd flush, black mould would run down the bowl. The shower was mouldy in between the tiles and the shower heads were eroding and a gross green colour. The skirting boards were super dusty. The vanity stained. A wooden plank in the centre of the room kept flicking up when we walked on it and when we inspected it, we could take the entire plank out of the floor. The floor rugs were dirty and stained. We also experienced the worst service of our trip: We had requested the iron twice - and a very rude lady (who didn't check if it was available) straight out told us that it wasn't and stated it was our fault twice for not asking earlier, in an extremely derogatory manner. Another worker witnessed the conversation and after they spoke in Portugese to each other (we don't speak Portuguese and couldn't understand), the other worker brought it right up - so afterall it was available despite the rude lady telling us it wasnt. We then ironed our clothes and rushed it straight back down because we wanted it to be available for other guests since we waited 2 days to use it. Immediately the same lady was so rude again and got angry with us, stating that we should've left it in our room. And that we were being a burden because we had brought it down? She then made us 'mind' the reception desk while she ran it up to storage, as apparently she couldn't leave it behind the desk. We were on our way to dinner and the last thing we wanted to do was mind the reception desk. Really bizarre experience and it made us feel like we were a massive burden. The other reception staff were super lovely - it's a shame the dirtiness and the one lady spoiled it for us. Won't be returning and don't recommend.
