Where to try your hand at pottery in Singapore - SilverKris

"Designed by a local arts-school lecturer, the comprehensive pottery course is split into two phases focusing on domestic and decorative objects and spans 20 weeks (3-hour sessions), with a monitoring system used to track each student’s progress; the full course costs S$900 (S$450 per phase)." - Megan Khaw

A pottery studio that I have been going for almost 3 years now. Did my wheel throwing course here and stayed on ever since! Really like the chill vibes and a nice community formed :) I highly recommend!

Decided to come here to learn wheel throwing and attended phase 1! Instructors are attentive, will guide and observe what mistakes im making and teach me how to correct it. Its my first time wheel throwing and they rly teach from scratch and pace at my progress. Place is nice and airy, have to bring ur own apron! Made about 8 things at the end of phase 1, can make as much as u want from the bag of clay given

The 8th floor studio is my regular retreat, offering a tranquil haven for honing my craft and unwinding after a demanding and hectic workday. This space offers a calm, nurturing environment, fostering creativity and camaraderie among like-minded individuals. Thanks 8th floor 🫶🏻 🩵🩵🩵🩵

Weekday instructor is utterly useless 1/10, she is rude and has no interest at teaching. AVOID AT ALL COST. only weekend instructor is helpful, 10/10.

Before coming to the 8th floor, I had zero experience in pottery. I did phase 1, phase 2 and then studio hours here. During this time, I grew to not only love pottery but to love this safe space where I feel free to practice. The 8th Floor has given me so many fond memories and became basically a second home for me. The instructors are so kind, helpful and supportive and I feel like I was given space to experiment. There's not an awful lot of handholding which I like, and instructors were always available to demonstrate if things were unclear. I will miss this studio fondly as I relocate out of Singapore - it's what made my time here so lovely. I recommend this studio 100% - it's a quiet, lovely oasis to learn and to grow. keep up the good work!

What a find..! The 8th Floor is more than just a ceramic studio—it’s a little escape from the rush of daily life. Everything slows down and quietens down when you enter, give it a visit and you'll know what I mean. The peaceful and airy atmosphere makes it so easy to relax and focus, and the gentle, knowledgeable instructors create such a warm and encouraging space. I never felt rushed or intimidated, just completely in the moment, shaping clay at my own pace. I've visited other clay studios before and I'm truly glad and proud to say that I have found my core place to be. I especially love their motto: "Find Your Centre." It’s not just about pottery—it’s about finding balance, patience, and a sense of calm. It’s my way of slowing down and being present. If you're looking for a place to create, relax, and reconnect with yourself, this is it.

I finished the beginner course here, I think the teachers could be more attentive or proactive throughout the class time so we can learn more! And also the glazes were running so low it was really hard to glaze the items. That being said the classroom environment was quite pleasant, but not sure if I'd go back given how much I'll learn. --- Update: the glazes turned out really uneven (even for the piece that the teacher used to demo so it's not a skill issue). Professionally I feel they shouldn't have continued with the classes that week if they knew the volume of glaze was going to be a problem. Really disappointed, to have all the hard work turn out this way.

Attended their Pottery Trial class at $38, which was at a promo rate. The instructor was incredibly passionate about his craft. He's also an instructor with NAFA and opened up this space so that him and his students have a space to continue their work. The class itself, you'll be given 3 credits, or 3 clay to try out. You really want to get at least one nice mold which he'll help you to trim and fire. The instructor was really helpful and don't hesitate to get him to help you work his magic, the outcome is amazing.
