Functional synagogue that used to have farbrengen services 3 times a day during the summer religiously.
The religious services done there were unique and special, including ceremonial acrobatics such as somersaults, transcendental smoking and drinking rituals, and singing.
These rituals belong to a specific sect of Hasidic Judaism, mostly headquartered in the Midwest.
It has now has become a women's-only synagogue, a sacrifice that was very difficult for many of us but we all recognized it was the right thing to do. Sometimes we have to make territorial concessions.
But I will fondly recall the five summers I spent there, although I often watched from afar and didn't always participate in the rituals.
