The Abbey Hotel Miami Beach Sonder

This hotel is a bare bones operation. My room was large, well lit and clean. They are not full service and checkin is late. It also has a good location. The common areas need a refresher and some of the bathroom furniture too (see photos). I found it clean and efficient. No keys. All codes and your Sonder App. Bare bones staff and no amenities. You need to resupply your room and there is no restaurant. Only Keurig Coffee and basic tea. No local or cable television channels. The Samsung Smart TV can be hooked up to your phone or Chrocmecast. Price is very competitive and I guess you get what you pay for.

The Abbey Hotel in Miami was clean, neat, and smelled great. The rooms were tidy and comfortable, and the property was well-maintained. However, the parking situation is completely unacceptable. There is no hotel parking, no loading or unloading zone, and no clear signage warning guests that parking directly in front of the hotel will result in being towed. We parked outside for less than 30 minutes to unload our luggage and our car was towed almost immediately. The front desk never mentioned this risk, and the nearest parking garage is several blocks away. This hotel absolutely needs to install clear signs and warn guests at check-in not to leave their cars unattended, even for a few minutes. It cost us nearly $500 to retrieve our car and pay the citation, which completely ruined our stay.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. The front desk staff was helpful. The room was very spacious. The bathroom was beautiful. The walls are thin but we were able to sleep through the night without excessive noise. Only downside is that they don’t offer beach chairs or umbrellas. If I were to go to Miami again, I would stay closer to downtown only because we spent a good amount of money on rides over there. If you’re looking to be close to the beach, definitely stay here. Very affordable!

The room was dirty including the sheets. The were loud party goers upstairs who made so much noise it was difficult to sleep. We contacted services, but they didn't resolve the loud noise that they claimed they did. The gentleman running the desk the next morning was nice and offered to stow our luggage while we went to brunch. We won't be back I don't think in the future.

My experience with Sonder was fantastic...traveling from Toronto to Miami, Julian gave me that southern hospitality- recommending dining establishments that were within my budget...making sure I was comfortable in my room, and letting me know what were the safest areas to walk around alone at night during the hot Miami nights. Thanks to Sonder's team and especially Julian for a 5⭐ stay.

Decent affordable Marriott by the strip. But one of our pillows had dirty red spots on it.. the fridge didn’t keep our drinks cold, the TV didn’t work, and there was trash left in the shower. The door to the shower wouldn’t shut firmly so our floor flooded. No microwave or ice machine available.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel don’t believe the reviews. I was really worried about staying here reading the reviews but it was absolutely wonderful. The room was pristine. The service was exceptional. My room had a huge balcony with furniture on. There was an empty fridge and a kettle. There wasn’t made service unless it was ordered, but for three days that didn’t cause me any issues.|The only problem for me was that this is three old Art Deco hotels that have been amalgamated and as such only have one small swimming pool which is mainly in the shade. The vibe was very much chaotic with lots of children died bombing in there and there wasn’t many places to sunbath and this is the only reason I’ve given it four stars.||The location is perfect and central opposite a drugstore a bakery and Edina and it’s very safe opposite the Miami police department and it’s quiet.||There is an on-site little restaurant café and bar that are all great and you can help yourself to any extras that you need such as extra toiletries loo rolls that kind of thing.

I rarely leave reviews, but my experience at the Sonder Abbey Hotel in Miami Beach was so disappointing that I feel obligated to warn others.||Within five minutes of arriving, I realized I had made a huge mistake. The walls are paper thin. I could hear everything from the adjoining room — footsteps, coughing, sneezing, conversations, phone calls, even light switches being flipped. It’s like the room was built out of cardboard. If your neighbor so much as breathes, you’ll hear it.||The room itself is all style, no substance. Sure, the design might look sleek at a glance, but it falls apart on closer inspection:| • The bathroom faucet handle was broken.| • The showerhead leaked.| • A ceiling light fixture was literally missing its glass cover.| • The bed was uncomfortable and the pillows were flat and useless.||I contacted Sonder support hoping they’d try to help. Their response? “There’s nothing we can do.” Completely dismissive.||Out of desperation, I called Expedia (who I booked through) and asked to move hotels. They reached out to Sonder, who refused to cancel or refund anything. Zero flexibility, zero customer care.||There are no amenities here. No on-site staff, no soundproofing, no comfort, and absolutely no accountability.||If you value sleep, comfort, or basic hospitality, do yourself a favor and stay literally anywhere else in South Beach. This place is a joke.

This hotel I booked on the marriott.com app. The hotel was pretty decent, but the payment process was all over the place. I must have thought I paid my invoice three times and now they're asking for another payment and I'm not sure why. I like the fact that this is an all electronic process and you check in and check out at your leisure. I had a good time staying here, but they need to change their system to accept payment once instead of a bunch of times.

If you are looking for a 3-star hotel with a prime location, reasonably affordable and within walking distance to South Beach, Sonder the Abbey is worth a stay. Not the most luxurious lobby or most hospitable staff, but at least your hotel room is clean and the lobby doors lock at 9 PM. Upon entering, the lobby has a strange, old smell to it, but once you enter your hotel room, the smell vanishes and is replaced with a fresh, odorless scent. Furnishings were clean and modern, however, shower could be cleaned better, as it is full of grout hidden on the dark tiles. Each room is equipped with a Chromecast, but does not functionally work. We had to do our own DIY factory resetting and rewiring, and even so, we still got disconnected from casting. NOTE: They WILL be having a cafe/restaurant in the near future on the lobby floor, expect construction in the next few months!

Pros- quiet location only a short Lyft ride away from lots of restaurants. Room and bathroom were bigger than I expected so that was a nice surprise. Staff is friendly and the doors are locked by 8pm Cons- the water pressure in the shower was SO WEAK. Walls are pretty thin and we could hear people walking above us. There was an odd smell as soon as we walked into the lobby but luckily the room didn't smell at all. Overall, I'm unsure if I would stay here again.

Clean, easy to check in and get help, great location, 2 blocks from the beach. The keyless approach works well.

It was quite clean great parking..the guys that work here are super nice. As a single woman I felt safe here. Highly recommend this place.

There are Many reasons I would never recommend this hotel no pool, old and outdated decor, 4pm in check in, mediocre service. I got in at 11am and somehow not a single room was ready by noon despite Tons of people checking out at 11am. All I wanted after my long flight was a shower and bed and this hotel did not provide. Extremely overpriced for the service and the look.

PLEASE BE AWARE!!!!! I travelled to Miami for my birthday and stayed at the Sonder Abbey in South Beach. I had a wonderful stay. The room was nice and Julian at the desk was amazing and also the other two employees at the desk. The hotel was close to everything. It wasn't until the night before I was leaving that a pending charge came up on my banking app of $448.00 CAD. I quickly went to the desk and was told that the charge will be reversed and that it was because of the change of software within the hotel. I got back to Canada on Friday and the charge went through. I had a virtual chat with Sonder and they said that they weren't responsible for the charge and to talk to Expedia since I had booked with them as a package. I mentioned that the charge for the package went through already and the new charge was from Sonder. I contacted Expedia and they said they only have the charge for the package and not the additional Sonder charge. I then got a hold of someone from Sonder and sent they screenshots of the charges and they could explain the charge that they did to my card. After the shouting match about being charged an extra $448.00, I was told by Sonder that they couldn't do anything for me and that I should call my bank. I said to the man on the phone that I felt that he work for a company that charges additional amounts of money to people's credit cards without knowing and take not ownership in doing so and that Sonder is not a good company to work for. He then said that he spent more than an hour on the phone already with me and that he could not do anything for me and to call my bank. I got off the phone pissed off and called my bank. My bank mentioned that Sonder has had charged other people that had stayed at various locations. The reason that Sonder told me to call my bank was that they were willing to give the $448.00 back to me and after I paid for the package of the hotel and flight originally. The additional charge was something that they took upon themselves to charge my card in hoping that I wouldn't see it or say anything. Thankfully, I have a good standing with my bank and the charge has been rectified and reversed. I am writing this to let people know that Sonder company rips off people and to not stay at their hotels if you are planning to loose money and energy trying to get it back. Please be wise and think before looking into this hotel to stay.
