**DO NOT STAY AT THIS UNSAFE HOTEL**
This is going to be a very long review. What you should know, is this is an old, dirty, disgusting, unsafe hotel. Rude staff, drugs on the floor of the hotel room, unclean pool, bugs, broken door locks, food in the halls... I was informed by the neighboring hotel, that they receive numerous upset/unhappy guests at their location after leaving the DEPLORABLE Academy Hotel. The positive reviews of this hotel are fake, this place is the worst hotel I've ever had the displeasure of stepping foot in.
We started by calling and spoke to a few people who were actually very nice. DON'T BE FOOLED LIKE I WAS! After speaking with a very pleasant receptionist about our reservation, she let us know that we could call before we were leaving to ask about early check-in. We called the morning before driving there and asked if there was a possibility of early check in. The gentleman "John" told us that "Absolutely! We have a room ready for you" I let him know when we would be there in about a half hour and he said that was no problem! When we arrived, the rude front desk lady "Colleen" said "we don't have a room ready" when I said we talked to John, she said "well he doesn't know, he's new". She told us the room was "in blue" so it might be ready and she'd check with housekeeping. While we waited I walked around lobby with my kids, we saw bugs and food on the floor. We checked out the pool that's right in the middle of the lobby with no privacy at all, just a gate around the pool. It was a nice size, but dirty, it was so cloudy you couldn't see the bottom...yuck. Colleen let us know the room was ready and gave us the keys, we made our way to the room, in the hall to the room we saw dried Mac n cheese, a piece of chicken and a fry. We got to the room and immediately it smelled of cigarette smoke, so bad my kids covered their noses and couldn't stand it. Having signed a waiver at check in stating that any sign of smoking would result in a $200 fee, I decided to go back down and let them know immediately. Colleen said there were no other rooms, so I could cancel if I wanted. What a weird response, no apologies or other alternatives. My kids were so upset and I looked at her and asked if there was any other option, she said the maintenance guy could come unlock the window to air it out, so I decided to give that a try. He finally showed up and when we opened the window, several people proceeded to smoke and partake in other drug related activities at the dumpster below our window. At this point we are just not staying in this place. I closed the window and while waiting for my husband and 15 month old to arrive I checked out the tiny, dirty, old room. Where do I begin? Ash on the broken AC unit, food splattered all over the counter, food/drink splashed on the table and lamp, the table was literally falling over with a completely broken leg. Dirty remote, stained sheets, hair on the bed, broken lock, BLACK MOLD and food all over the mini fridge ! THEN....I found nuggets of weed on the carpet, multiple nuggets in different places...you have got to be kidding me. I took pictures, grabbed my kids and got the heck out of there. I went to the front desk, asked for a manager and this little, rude guy comes out, I explain what I just experienced and he says "oh, sorry about that, I'll cancel your reservation." I would think after seeing the pictures I showed him, any reasonable business would be embarrassed, incredibly apologetic and try to remedy the situation, but no! What would have happened if my 15 month old got ahold of nuggets of weed and who knows what else?! I walked out with my disappointed children and we drove over to the Hampton Nextdoor. PLEASE, do yourself a favor and DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL! The Hampton was clean, quiet, great breakfast and the same price!!
