Great hotel and the architecture with its history is wonderful. Loved the hospitality at the restaurant. Ordered for Salmon. It was very tasty and juicy. Kids loved the Chicken tenders. Highly recommend this place if you’re in Yosemite area.

We went to The Awahnee Dining Room as a family of 6 on two separate occasions. LOVED the experience. For breakfast we opted for the al la carte menu and we can say everything tasted really good except for the French Toast that was more on the soggy side. The steel cut oats and trio mushroom, avocado and salmon on toast was a big hit. Angeline was incredible super cheerful and friendly. On average each plate was around ~20 dollars per pax before tip with generous portions. For dinner we had the dinner buffet. Although the selection was smaller than anticipated we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The highlight was the prime rib which was not chewy and the salad was to die for. We received great service yet again from Shannon and Marcus who were enthusiastic and attentive. Shannon even provided us recommendations for which route to take back to sf. There was live piano music which adds to the atmosphere.

I read all of the reviews about how bad the food is so we decided to eat here for lunch and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The dining room is magnificent. It looks like the dining hall in the Harry Potter movies. The views from the huge windows are stunning. We had the salmon, burger, french dip sandwich, cauliflower appetizer and stuffed mushrooms. The salmon was good and the burger and french dip were decent. The cauliflower was actually very good, with dates, honey, and chili flakes. The mushrooms were bland. The service was ok. The waitstaff are nice enough but they make some mistakes and aren’t really professional. But it wasn’t bad enough to ruin the experience. I think that lunch is the way to go. It’s less expensive and you can enjoy the views outside. It was one of the highlights of our visit. If you’re not staying at the hotel plan to pay $10 for parking or take the shuttle from the welcome center. It’s a long walk from the village.

The room is beautiful and service was ok. What really disappointed was the food. We ordered 2 burgers cooked medium. The burgers were overcooked but the worst was that the fries were served completely cold and mushy. In a hotel of this level how can’t they even get a burger with fries right?

What can I say, I was so looking forward to dinner in the beautiful dining room having booked many months in advance. The room, stunning, our waitress efficient, courteous & engaging, piano player provided a pleasant atmosphere. The food however was quite an opposite story. Unremarkable & underwhelming start with the bread basket. Dry rolls & lacking in quality & freshness that you would expect for $8. French onion soup & salad fine but nothing spectacular. Main course of prime rib & hanger steak came out cold initially. Potatoes severally undercooked. When the meal was returned, came back having been obviously placed under a heat lamp. Yorkshire pudding burnt on top, steak recooked to well done & potatoes dry & hard. At $62 & $54 again I expected so much better. The best part of the meal was the glass of wine which indeed was delicious! Whilst the manager reduced the bill by taking off the coat of bread & soup & offered a dessert, it just didn't recover the night.

I recently had dinner at the Ahwahnee Dining Room and while the night overall was memorable, it was thanks largely to the stunning atmosphere and the great company I was with. The grandeur of the historic hotel truly sets a tone of elegance and charm—the high ceilings, classic decor, and timeless beauty of the space made it feel special. However, a few elements detracted from the experience. While we dressed for the occasion, it was disappointing to see that the dress code was not consistently enforced. The lack of formality at many nearby tables took away from the sophisticated ambiance that the venue naturally provides. As for the food, it was unfortunately underwhelming. It wasn’t bad, but it lacked depth of flavor and the menu was more limited than I expected for such a renowned location. Service was another area that didn’t meet the mark. Our waitress was kind and genuinely tried her best, but it was clear she was under stress—likely a result of being understaffed, which seemed to be a theme across the room. The setting is truly one-of-a-kind and worth experiencing, but I hope the dining and service elements rise to meet the surroundings in future visits.

Google
The setting is absolutely stunning—the dining room feels like something out of Harry Potter’s Great Hall or Beauty and the Beast. High timbered ceilings, stone walls, candle-like chandeliers, and live piano music set a magical atmosphere. Unfortunately, the food was a major letdown. Despite the fine-dining prices, the buffet menu was underwhelming and poorly executed. Most dishes lacked flavor, and the desserts were simply bad. It was quite disheartening, especially considering the grandeur of the place. Another downside was the inconsistent service. While some of the waitstaff were professional and attentive, others seemed undergroomed and unprepared, which detracted from the overall experience. If it weren’t for the charming piano music, this would have been a zero-star experience for me. I truly hope they improve the food—it wouldn’t take much, given how low the bar currently is. I came in with high expectations, and sadly, the meal didn’t come close to matching the setting.

We were very impressed with the service here. Our server, Shannon, gave us great advice and tips. All the servers were very friendly and attentive. There were many menu options, including vegan ones. And the space is AWESOME! As in, truly inspired awe. It's a grand hall with beautiful windows and lots of space between tables. Just lovely. Thanks again!

Yelp
This is a must do experience if you are visiting Yosemite. The service is impeccable. The dining room is beautiful. Each table has a high candle. The prime rib portions were hugh, tender and cooked to perfection. It included Yorkshire Pudding, potatoes and green beans. Caesar salad was rather bland and instead of traditional croutons, they had two huge croutons that were too soft in the center. If you are an onion soup lover avoid this one. They use a vegetable broth rather than the traditional beef broth. This impacts the flavor. For traditional French onion soup go to the Mountain Room at Yosemite Lodge. Very reasonable corkage fee of $25. Reservations are needed at least a week in advance. Drop in possible for breakfast and lunch.

Yelp
The Ahwahnee Dining Room is undeniably stunning--an expansive, grand space with architecture that instantly elevates the mood. The live pianist added a lovely touch, and he was genuinely excellent. Unfortunately, the food and service didn't live up to the setting. Our server felt more suited to a casual roadside diner than a high-end restaurant, and the overall service reflected that mismatch. The food was hit-or-miss: the scallops were good, but the soup and salad fell flat, and the steak arrived overcooked. For the price point and the ambiance, it was disappointing. The venue itself is worth seeing, but I'd recommend going for breakfast or lunch, when the natural light lets you really enjoy the views. Dinner, once it's dark, just doesn't offer enough atmosphere to make up for the mediocre food and service.

Yelp
We love this place. It's been years since we've been here; we were staying at the Yosemite View Lodge, and because of rain we could not go on a couple of hiking trips we had planned. We ended up spending some time puttering around at the Ahwahnee and were able to make reservations for lunch shortly after we arrived. What followed was an absolutely delightful experience sitting next to an immense picture window with a lovely view of the park. We both had the French onion soup, which was one of the best we ever had and the roasted cauliflower. (I wouldn't recommend the two together because they're both brown and the textures are not very different from one another. Nonetheless, it was delicious and they were both a delight to enjoy.) Service was superb, and we finished off splitting a crème brûlée, which came recommended, and we understand why. Overall, the perfect lunch experience to brighten up a rainy day.

Yelp
First of all - you're in a busy, major national park and your dress code outlaws any kind of shorts. Whatever. Fine, so you want to be hoity-toity enough to enforce a dress code...then serve food commensurate with the level of posh-ness you're trying to convey. The whole meal was bad. I got the bone marrow appetizer and the salmon. My wife got a pear salad and hangar steak, medium rare. The marrow was undercooked and underseasoned. Speaks volumes that this 'fine dining' establishment with the snobby dress code has salt and pepper shakers at the table - they know their food isn't good. The steak came out grey - just hammered. We sent it back before the waitress left the table. If you're going to tell me my dress shorts aren't good enough to eat at your restaurant and then charge me $62 for a hangar steak, it better be immaculately cooked. It was served with an au poivre sauce that contained exactly 3 peppercorns and tasted exactly like Campbell's beef and noodle soup. The salmon was also overcooked and featured no seasoning at all. Ordered their signature dessert - the boisenberry pie - and 2 Bailey's and coffee to go with it. The pie arrived, but no drinks. Pie filling was sweet but tasty; crust was about 2 inches thick - you couldn't cut into it without the filling oozing everywhere. Reminded the waitress about the coffees after we had finished dessert - she had forgotten to ring them in. After one entree sent back and 2 cocktails forgotten, no adjustments to the bill at all. $350 to eat at a theme park restaurant masquerading as fine dining. Skip it and get chicken strips at the food court. They'll taste better and you won't feel ripped off.

Yelp
I'm very saddened by the food served here. It could be such an all-around experience but the food quality cuts it short! $160 and I had the worst salmon ever in my life with ZERO flavor, dry, and overcooked. Mind you the service and ambience are amazing! The food doesn't match at all... my husband's flank steak was the same, no seasonings and it was gross. The French onion soup that I was so looking forward to was cold and hard to eat. They need to step up their food game to keep up with the beauty and ambience of this restaurant!!

Yelp
We were here for Breakfast and everything was lovely. The dining room is absolutely beautiful with a rustic, yet vintage elegance. The Chandeliers and dim lighting along with the large windows that give view to the spectacular scenery made for the perfect way to start the day. The service was also excellent, with a team of servers that made sure we had everything we needed. I had the Ahwahnee's Eggs Benedict, served with Tomato, Spinach, Canadian Bacon and Hollandaise, a very savory combination. The Ahwahnee hotel is a must-visit, while in Yosemite Valley.

Yelp
Oh my god what a beautiful dining experience!!! The Ahwahnee dining room was one of the most gorgeous places I've eaten at. I absolutely loved the large windows so we could see the park while eating. It was so pretty!!! Service was 10/10. All staff were very attentive, professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. We started with their homemade focaccia bread (made from 100 year old sourdough starter) and whipped butter. It was a little slice of heaven. So warm, soft, and flavorful. The perfect start to our meal. We all ordered the braised short rib and my god it did not disappoint. The most mouth watering and fulfilling short rib meal we've eaten. The risotto and vegetables paired perfectly with it. The price was not bad at all for how nice everything was ($30). I'm still reminiscing over this meal days later. If you want a nice fancier meal in Yosemite, this place is a must stop.

Yelp
This is fine dining that everyone gets to enjoy. Breakfast and lunch are casual so feel free to come in your hiking clothes. Dinner is formal and they would prefer shirt and long pants, probably shoes! Hee hee! But seriously, my family, which consisted of the hubs and my son who is a special-needs young man & myself were welcomed graciously to a table that had a cloth over it and glass drinkware. We asked quickly for the glass drinkware to be removed, and they were more than happy to bring us cups that were of the to go style. Made things easier for everyone. The menu for lunch was really nice. Here's the funny thing, our meal didn't cost any more than our meal at Red Robin in Turlock California. Without having alcoholic drinks, entrées for three and a 25% tip was almost $100. But you have to remember you're getting a dining experience that you're not going to get anywhere else. The room is absolutely gorgeous. The view is absolutely gorgeous. The history there is so dense It seeps from every poor of the walls and floors and ceilings. There's a ambience or aura, if you will that will simply drop upon you as you enter the hotel. It's a grand experience that if you are going to Yosemite, you most definitely should try. Do not let the place itself intimidate you. It's grand and it's gorgeous, but it's also very welcoming. As are the people who work there!

Yelp
Let's be honest here, we're really here for the ambiance rather than the food. There's no denying that the dining room at the Ahwahnee hotel has an amazing old world charm and beautiful views of Yosemite. The service is top notch as well with attentive and accommodating wait staff. However that's really where most of the good stuff stops. The food is super hit or miss. We tried multiple dishes our latest time there, such as the short ribs, mushroom duxelle flat bread, French onion soup, and the eggplant parmasean. The French onion soup was more sour than sweet/savory and the onions were undercooked/not caramelized enough. The eggplant parmesean we had to send back as the eggplant itself was still raw underneath the breading (our waiter was super accompdating about this). The flat bread was super dry and the duxelle was more chunks of mushroom rather than a true duxelle. The only stand outs from our meal was the complimentary bread, super garlicky and fluffy, and the short ribs. The thing is though, it's not that technically difficult to make good short ribs. Overall, just know what you are coming for at this restaurant. Come for the views and the ambiance, try not to go too crazy with the food, it just is not worth it.

Yelp
Totally enjoyed the buffet dinner here at Yosemite. Great food selection, wonderful service, delicious dishes! Came worth family and we had a great time!

Yelp
The dining room is beautiful, but the food was mediocre. Bread is $8. Service was alright and friendly enough. I don't plan on returning. The mediocre food convinced me to not ever book any nights at the gorgeous and stately Ahwahnee (because food matters when you're in a secluded place).

Yelp
Ambiance and service is great Food is terrible, absolutely terrible Onion soup was cold and had no broth Steak was cold as were the accompanying potatoes chicken dish was cold and pasta overcooked Caesar salad was wilted and cheese crackers soggy..

Yelp
The setting is a grand dining room in a nearly hundred year old historic hotel. High ceilings with rustic chandeliers, 30 foot high windows with views of the Yosemite valley, white tablecloths and tall wax candles all make for a special dining experience. During our 3 night stay we dined here 5 times. Service was spotty. Joshua and Demar were pleasant and attentive. Another server was hardly seen. We enjoyed the short rib and risotto, the mixed greens, the crab Louie, the chicken Francaise with pappardelle Al fredo, and the salmon with fennel. Less successful were the French onion soup and French dip. The fruit tart was mostly inedible. Dessert was better at the Sweet Spot inside the hotel. Prices are high, but you're paying for the ambience. If you're just going for dinner, it would be worthwhile to walk around the beautiful property afterward.

Yelp
We didn't make a reservation but did a walk in right at opening. There was live music with a piano player playing. The dining room itself was a marvel and such an amazing experience to walk through. The dinner buffet itself seemed a bit limited but for the cost, but we thought it was delicious. The filet mignon and the brisket that day was fantastic. The service was highly attentive. Also, it's understandable in the middle of a national park. How cool is this dining room to experience in the middle of Yosemite Valley? I would recommend if you want fine dining, this is such a wonderful experience. The caesar salad was fresh and had sardines. The dessert bar didn't seem mindblowing but for the very aesthetics and experience, the ahwahnee dining room is a wonderful experience.

Yelp
We had heard such nice things about the historic Ahwahnee Hotel and it's Dining Room. Unfortunately, we were told, "the kitchen is undergoing a complete renovation' and is closed. They have a 'buffet'. A buffet which was so bad - the Prime Rib was not hot and too rare....the Basil Chicken wasn't edible. There was another meat - I can't even recall what it was, other than the fact it was tough and tasteless. The only 'slightly' redeeming dish, little shrimps and the potatoes - both were fine, and we filled up on those. The desserts were also inedible. I won't even mention what they charged. I've had good buffets before - which leads me to believe, the issues at the Ahwahnee Dining Room extend beyond the buffet. Kitchen closed notwithstanding, we'll never be back.

Yelp
Haven't been the the Ahwahnee dining room in over a decade. Been going to the mountain room the last few years but saw a steady decline in the food and service. Finally able to snag a reservation for dinner and stopped at the bar first for pre dinner drinks. Dining room is now a buffet service with options for bread and soup as well. Buffet had a nice selection of proteins and craving stations, salads, and plenty of sides. Food was delicious and it was nice having so many options. Ordered more drinks from the bar and grabbed a small plate of desserts too- wish they had more options there, but overall a good meal!

Yelp
A fine dining Buffet! I will say most of the things on the menu are very well done. The prine rib was excellent. The tri-tip was excellent. Thumbs up on the broccolini, the cauliflower, The Yukon mashed potatoes. Downs: They really missed the mark, however, on the shrimp--they obviously substituted cayenne pepper for paprika in the recipe. The quinoda was also quite plain. Because anchovies were featured in the original Caesar salad, they had anchovies on the side,, however. I'm pretty sure the originals would have been the highly salted variety, and these were more marinated in lemon juice. So, I'm not sure we had the flavor that the original had intended. But Service is Top Notch. The house wine, by the way, is excellent. Probably worthwhile for the experience.
google avatar

Bee B.

Yelp
You are there for the ambiance. The breakfast buffet is not impressive at all. Free breakfast at Best Western is better. Costco pastries are better. I'm pretty sure the eggs are powdered. Benedict was cold. Bacon was limp and way too salty. Over all huge let down.
google avatar

Nancy H.

Yelp
The hotel is cool. I'm not sure how early you need to make reservations for the dining room because we checked a month out, and there were no reservations. I kept checking, but no luck. I also tried calling, but it's just goes to an automatic message; there's no way to reach them. Customer Service: They are very, very nice! I walked up to the Dining Room hostess. She was in the middle of a conversation with a guest. I waited for about 5+ mins with no acknowledgement even though I was right in front of her (can come off negatively), but she was was sweet when I did talk to her, so that made up for it. She was honest that the wait was going to be about 2-3 hours, with no guarantee that we will be seated that night. She recommended the bar instead. If you're not too hungry or in a rush, I recommend getting on the waitlist. They texted us that something was available in about 1-2 hours. Parking: It's valet parking only: $10 for a day-pass and $30 for overnight. Pricing: The buffet is $60, which usually is a great deal, but not so much with the limited menu at the time. Food: You cannot order from the menu; there is only a buffet setting that is rather limited. Atmosphere: The hotel is well-designed and fun to check out. However, there is no view due to construction, which was a huge selling point to diniing here. I think we will come back and try when the construction is done. Hopefully then they will return to their regular menu and not just the limited buffet.

Yelp
This is an amazing place for history and architecture. The fire in the winter is amazing! I recommend the breakfast buffet before going on a big hike.

Yelp
We stayed at hotel and only ate in the main dining room once which was for breakfast. First off, the dining room is breathtaking, just beautiful and iconic. Tip, you don't have to stay at hotel to dine here. So my review of 5 stars is not about the food which was pretty average, although the fresh squeezed OJ was excellent, my 5 stars is due to our waiter, Alec. He was FANTASTIC and was full of great information, stories and just overall a gem of the entire establishment. I am a director in the lux hotel business and he is is epitome of a professional in his field. Hotel management please please please appreciate Alec for how amazing he is! Ok that's my review:)

Yelp
This review applies to the evening meal only. Breakfast wasn't nearly as good as the evening meal . First off, make a reservation well in advance. This will get you a nice table at a reasonable hour. We lucked out in that the dining room renovation was completed just in time for our visit in early September 2025. The dining room is very unique with high ceilings, wonderful custom-made candlesticks, and live piano music. Our dinner tonight was vastly better than we anticipated. We were expecting a buffet with mediocre food, but it turns out they have an entire menu with interesting choices. we started out with deviled eggs that were good. Crab Louie was way better than we expected--Approaching excellence. Mushroom cream soup was also very good. Our angel hair porcini came out lukewarm and with mediocre flavor. Our waiter Andrew was kind enough to redo it for us. We still didn't love it, but at least it was hot and fresh. There is a decent cocktail and wine list. All of this was more than we thought we would find in Yosemite national park. Somebody has put a lot of effort into making this into a fashionable and modern restaurant. Cost is reasonable. Try it, I think you will like it. 4+ stars.

Yelp
Yikes! I was VERY excited to dine at the historic and legendary Ahwahnee Dining Room (we stayed at the Ahwahnee Hotel during our Yosemite visit). Our breakfast reservation left us very disappointed. The worst part was the ambiance. This restaurant is supposed to be all about the grandeur of the wood lined hall, with its floor to ceiling window views of Yosemite out of the dining hall. The state of the dining hall was a mess. The windows were hammer boarded up due to construction, so the room was dark inside AND YOU COULD NOT SEE THE LEGENDARY SCENERY OUTSIDE. The dining room looked like a construction site and not a grand upscale restaurant. The construction noise coming from outside was unbearable during the meal. I heard rumors about how Aramark completely mismanages the hotel, and it was most apparent from the state of the dining room. As for food, I got the breakfast buffet and sampled a little bit of everything, and my husband got the foragers omelette. The food was NOT good at all. Nothing was fresh; for example the fruit all looked like it had been sitting out all evening. The bagels were soggy and the potatoes were bland. We paid $75 for this breakfast by the way. The only saving grace is the staff of the restaurant. Our server Justice was so kind and was going around to each table doing her best to salvage the experience.

Yelp
The service and atmosphere were excellent. The food was poorly prepared. I ordered the hanger steak, medium rare which came with a scallop potato side dish. My wife ordered the Chicken Francaise. My steak was cooked well done. And, it was very tough and chewy. I sent it back and it returned well done once again except for one cube, which was medium rare. It was still very tough and chewy. The potato side dish was inedible. They didn't cook the potatoes enough and it was cold. My wife's chicken was poorly prepared, tasted rubbery and like they cooked it in the morning. I have been to the Ahwahnee several times. This was the worst time by far. I can only assume that this poor execution of the food is because Aramark doesn't care. It is not hard to cook a steak properly or make scalloped potatoes or cook chicken fresh to order.

Yelp
Lunch at the Ahwahnee Dining Room turned out to be a fantastic stop in our Yosemite adventure. Nestled in the heart of the park, this historic dining hall blends rustic grandeur with exceptional culinary care--and it's a hit even for a discerning New Englander who knows his chowder. We kicked off with their house-made clam chowder. It's not your typical thick New England style, but a lighter broth-based version with bold, briny flavor and just the right depth. As a native East Coaster, I admit--this was damn good. For our daughters, the classic kid-friendly choices of a cheeseburger and chicken fingers hit the mark perfectly. My wife and I shared a beautifully stacked Montecristo sandwich, warm and satisfying, alongside a fresh Caesar salad topped with crispy fried capers and real anchovies--yes, real ones. It was elegant without being fussy, and every bite felt well thought out. Service was off the charts. We had three attentive servers who didn't miss a beat they were friendly, proactive, and genuinely cared that everything was perfect. That kind of hospitality makes all the difference, especially when dining with family. And surprisingly, the price didn't feel steep for a high-end national park dining experience: just under $80 (without tip and tax) for a family of four. Considering the quality, ambiance, and attentiveness, it's more than fair.

Yelp
Such a disappointing birthday meal tonight! Our server never made eye contact with us the entire time and didn't remember that we were celebrating our birthdays with this meal, even though I told her when we were seated. I also put in a request on Open Table when I made the reservation 2 months ago!! She ran out a muffin with a candle AFTER we finished our desserts and sang the Happy birthday song. Our food was mediocre- my risotto was undercooked and the burnt onion pieces made the entire dish taste bitter. The ambiance was ok until our table candle burnt out then it took awhile for the server to relight it. The best service was from Miguel who was so attentive and kind throughout our meal, we always had water and he poured our wine for most of the meal. We needed to pour it ourselves at the end of the meal.

Yelp
Overall we had a great dining experience. Our 530 pm reservation was ready and we were seated right away. The dining hall has elegant cathedral like ceilings which reminded me of Hogwarts dining hall in Harry Potter. The servers were very friendly and attentive. The dining is buffet style. The salad and meat bar items tasted very high end. Unfortunately they were slow to refill the hot side items like polenta and shrimp which I didn't get to sample. The dessert bar was simple and about average. The bill was very high but we were very satisfied.

David D.

Yelp
Unfortunately I'm writing because it's not a healthy situation when service is not very good. The food is barely average. I'm writing because I didn't like the way I was treated... I even called the hotel manager but there is the problem. It starts at the top.... It's not good and I'm embarrassed for them. If you don't have enough help then own it... if your servers are under qualified then own it. I'm not living in a bubble I get it... we all have bad days... I just want others to be aware of how poor the service truly is...

Yelp
This was pretty bad. We didn't even care about the price, and the price was certainly cheaper than The Mountain Room at the Yosemite Valley Lodge. First off, requiring a strict dress code of long pants and close toed shoes for men for a BUFFET is absurd. If it was a la carte menu dining I would understand. The dining room is beautiful and it may be worth it for you to go for that. But just know, the food is not good. I have never seen such a limited buffet before, there are so few options. We went at 6:45pm too so it's not like they were out of stock for the night. Of the options there are, some are inedible. The fish was so dry we could not eat it. The desserts were worse than what you'd get at a grocery store. My boyfriend liked the prime rib but I didn't think it was special. The Caesar salad was the only objectively good thing here. Even the bread on the table was bad. Also the website said free valet but they charge $10 even with validation.

Yelp
We went for breakfast buffet. Unfortunately the kitchen is still under construction so all of the food is made in the temp kitchen. Given that the food is amazing. The menu is more limited. but what they make is worth the price. I had the eggs benedict bacon, biscuits and chipotle sausage gravy. Coffee and fresh squeezed juice. It was all excellent. I can't wait until they can return to the updated kitchen.

Yelp
Food was terrible! $150 later... Onion soup was sweet with nutmeg or cinnamon in it. Salad had moldy tomatoes. Stuffed mushrooms were burnt, and the cauliflower was full of red pepper flakes. Service was great and the ambience of the restaurant was beautiful. Just skip the food.

Yelp
Overall you are paying for the incredible experience to dine in the Ahwahnee Hotel. A few things to know before you go the food is a buffet, a small selection but a good selection of a variety of items (Prime Rib, Shrimp, Chicken), a few side dishes and a desserts. The service was good for what we needed clearing of buffet plates and drink refills. They had a nice piano player and the experience itself was a 5/5 the food was closer to a 2/5. If you are going know it is the experience to dine in the restaurant and probably something you would do once and say you did it.

Yelp
Service was good, both waiter and server very nice and attentive. Service/chef was very slow and not refilling food dishes fast enough when the restaurant is buffet. Very overpriced at $63 for buffet and not many options. Not worth it. Dinner was at 6:15pm, and items out were potatoes, prawns and vegetables. Then 30 mins later, potatoes refilled but salad was out. Chicken tender dried out. Prime Rib has creamy horseradish which was good. Potatoes were good. Ambiance with decor and piano music very nice!

Yelp
Absolute major disappointment. whoever is managing Currently should be let go. Starting with the reservation process that was a nightmare. They couldn't find as planning as they did. The dining room was 100° everybody was complaining but they couldn't fix the heater. I understood they couldn't open the door because of the wildlife issues. The food was very mediocre. Nothing like the old dining room I recall. We will never return. And then the lobby bar/restaurant was another nightmare. Talk about raping for the prices of a drink. I had a vodka tonic, and a shot of scotch. $93. Come on folks we will not ever be back and I'll pass the word. This is so not acceptable. Plus the lobby looks like a convent. Not cozy like it used to be. Looks like a hospital award. You guys need to get it together.

Yelp
This has definitely been my favorite dining experience in Yosemite so far. I recently made reservations through OpenTable to have breakfast at the Ahwahnee with my cousin. It was a little bit difficult to get reservations. I looked five days ahead of time, and there were only a few breakfast slots left-- and this was before busy season even officially started. Because the Ahwahnee Hotel is currently undergoing extensive reconstruction, some of the kitchen areas are closed. Rather than traditional service, they are currently only offering buffets for breakfast and dinner. I like trying everything on the menu, so, a buffet sounded great to me. I tried everything on the menu that didn't come with fish or eggs. Overall, I loved this buffet so much. This is how breakfast buffets should be done. It was full of fresh, delicious food that was mostly nutritious enough to eat before a long hike. My favorite item by far was the vegan sweet potato breakfast scramble. There was a little breakfast potato bar with the vegan scramble, country potatoes, ketchup, sour cream, and chives, and I tried it all. From the oatmeal bar, I loaded up a small dollop of oats with nuts, seeds, and dried berries. From the yogurt buffet, a dollop of yogurt with fresh melon, berries, and granola. I'm not a huge fan of chorizo, but I LOVED the chorizo gravy with the mini biscuits. Delicious. I was not as impressed by the sausage or bacon, but they were alright. I had to try at least one pastry, so I tried the mini Raspberry Danish. I also had one slice of French toast, and it was good. I failed to use any of the cute little Jams the waiter brought me. For drinks, we both had coffee and pineapple juice, but there were also several other juice options available. There was also a bagel bar with lox, and I think there was an omelet bar, but I didn't try these since I don't eat fish or eggs, and didn't want to fill up on a bagel and cream cheese. It was a bit pricey at about $32 each, especially considering the obscured view, but the service was outstanding, and I think we got our money's worth. I absolutely loved eating here, and hope I get to eat here again someday!

Yelp
We stayed in the Ahwahnee hotel! Everyone is traveling and only there for a few nights. Make your reservations a week in advance! We did not, and could not get in until 8:45pm the next night! After hiking 10 miles, we were hungry and tired. Yet we were excited for our dinner! We went to the bar prior to get cocktails and a charcuterie board while waiting for our reservation. By the time we got in for our dinner reservation we were done with alcohol and barely hungry. The Ahwahnee is a huge, beautiful restaurant and we were seated in a small table away from everyone. (We were dressed up!) There were a few tables open near the piano in the middle, yet we waited all evening to sit near the server bus station by the door? Literally alone & away from everyone, so disappointing. My husband's steak was solid, the butternut, mushroom risotto was a miss, salad was less than basic. For the price, I would expect more. Next time we'll just eat at the bar and skip the wait. You could see the staff was tired as well. They were courteous, but basically cleaning up for the evening. When you spend $700 a night for a high end experience, you deserve more from the main restaurant. So many couples were going up and asking when they could be seated. Not worth the wait. **Breakfast in the restaurant the next morning was great! We ordered from the menu as the breakfast buffet looked terrible. It was less to order from the menu and it was fresh! The breakfast was five star off the menu.

Yelp
The lowlight of an otherwise wonderful Yosemite vacation. Had dinner reservations for the buffet and found it immediately disappointing. The atmosphere is very nice, but the buffet choices were slim and quality was poor. My husband had a piece of the prime rib which was incredibly fatty. The server had a very difficult time carving the meat, bad knife?, we don't know. Everything was cold, even food just being restocked in the chafing dishes. Macaroni and cheese was like glue. Our server was nice, however not attentive. She came back once but never checked to see if we needed any more iced tea. I had to flag her down for coffee and the check. Should have cancelled the reservation when I got a head's up from the local postmaster the day before that the quality of the food had gone way down once Aramark took over. Was over priced for the amount of food offered and the poor quality.

Yelp
Family tradition always takes us to the Ahwahnee for lunch. I especially love getting iced tea and finger sandwiches. The gigantic fireplaces are like nothing I've ever seen before. Wait staff are always positive and prompt. Thank you for a wonderful and consistent experience!

Yelp
The ambiance was really nice and cozy but they only have a few selection of food. Everything we ordered were good but the serving size was small. The service was fast.

Yelp
Booked 2 nights, close to $1800, yet unable to get a dinner reservation for either night. Called numerous numbers and was literally told, "we can't help you". How is it possible? Answer-absolutely the poorest managed location on God Green Earth, coupled with a series of "customer support specialist" who haven't even the ability to answer a basic question.

Yelp
The service is very attentive and caring, and the hall is beautiful providing an amazing experience and atmosphere. This said, the food is terrible and IS A BUFFET!!! Why? Why? Why serve mediocre buffet food in such an amazing dining room? And the cost is completely ridiculous given the quality of the food.

Yelp
Wonderful meal and dining experience in this historic dining room. Staff was very attentive. Currently dinner is buffet style but began with a wonderful salad bar. Great meat selections and fabulous dessert selections and coffee. Both house white and red wines were delicious.

Yelp
Where do I even start? I mean the location is second to none. We're talking Yosemite National Park here so you know the view is going to be amazing. Then you walk in (with a reservation of course) and realize you've stepped into a architect juxtaposition; a log cabin with a high ceiling mixed with a banquet room prepared for royalty. Be sure to get a table by the windows. During the summer you'll see the water fall, during the winter it will be a blanket of white. Then there's the menu. Everything from venison to prime rib, squash ravioli to smoked trout, and desserts that are just as amazing. Your bar and cocktail options are some of the best you'll ever find and wines for that perfect pairing are awaiting in the cellar. I highly recommend coming for lunch or supper, but then return for the Sunday breakfast buffet. It will be everything you think of for breakfast and so much more. And, it gives you an excuse to walk around the entire banquet room (aka, get plenty of photos). This is the kind of place (and service team) that will spoil you. Nothing but perfection after visiting here.

Yelp
Food was terrible. Buffett was Luke warm, not hot. This is a dying vestige of something that may have been great in the past, but not anymore. My wife got sick afterward.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our dinner last night. Great for families! Prime rib and tomato bisque was our favorite, but everything was pretty good. Caesar salad actually offered anchovies, my favorite. Our 11 year old enjoyed her chicken tenders and mac and cheese. Yummy bread. Dessert assortment was perfect. Service was excellent, ambience beautiful with a talented pianist. We are going back for dinner tonight!

Yelp
Unfortunately we couldn't get dinner reservations - my bad - but we were able to get reservations for the brunch the next day - casual attire - the selection wasn't the most extensive, but there were plenty of different items to fill your stomach and they were pretty good! I couldn't believe that they had eggs benedict - I expected them to be cold and gross but I tried them anyway and they were fresh, warm, gooey, plenty of hollandaise - they must just continuously crank them out and rotate them whether gone or not - they also have bagels and eggs and bacon and sausage and fruit - but I returned for another eggs benedict - seriously, so good - the price is very reasonable considering where you are, and where you are eating - Yosemite...at the Ahwahnee! Beautiful building. Unfortunately there is construction going on, so all of the views out of the windows were of equipment and containers - if you want a view, you need to go to the Mountain Room right now. The orange juice tasted definitely fresh squeezed. The coffee was...acceptable. $32 for an adult, and $15 for kids. Usually more, but they did not have a carvery station or seafood - not enough people in the park probably. I don't care! I had plenty of good food, and the wait staff was very pleasant!

Yelp
Had a phenomenal breakfast buffet here. We had heard horror stories about what a terrible job Aramark have been doing running the food establishments in the park (the breakfast on previous day in main pavilion was pretty bad, powdered eggs etc). The dining room here in the old hotel is half the experience, giant wooden cathedral ceilings. View is also fantastic. Food was pretty decent with quite a lot of selections. Best part were our 2 servers, Alec and Kat, almost embarrassing the amount of time they spent chatting to us, so friendly and with all sorts of advice. Really made it a memorable experience. We also adjusted our activities to follow some of the advice given. Go if you are in the area- it's $32 for breakfast and you will eat way too much but enjoy the memories!

Yelp
What an experience to dine at the Ahwahnee in the park! Unfortunately they only had a buffet style set up since they're remodeling but all in all it was still nice to dine there. Reservations seemed pretty much required and check the dress code beforehand if it's enforced or not because I think typically there is one but with the renovations things are more fluid. Food quality was just okay but I mean what you're paying for mostly is the ambiance.
