DONT GET ALL UP IN MY BISCUITS!
Something I have noticed about Alabama, Birmingham in general, is there are so many biscuit shops and people who are proud of their biscuits. There is an equal mix between franchised biscuit companies as well as small business biscuit shops.
The Alabama Biscuit Company is a small business and we are so happy to have them here in our city. This location is very difficult to find if you have not been before. While driving if you pass Ms Myra's you have gone too far. It is located in a small strip way in the back of Cahaba Heights. Some landmarks next door are: Zebra Moving and the Flip Flop shop, if that helps.
Jasmine and I were planning on doing some shopping today, but first wanted some brunch. I gave her a few options to choose from, but we decided on the Alabama Biscuit Company as neither of us had been before and wanted to try a new spot out. Another reason we chose this spot was because the prices weren't too over the top. There are several other brunch spots in town that are a little more on the pricier side if things, but this one was right where we needed it to be.
First walking inside we noticed how rustic and cute the inside is. There are large red lights that float over a huge communal table. Aside from that there are a few other smaller tables 2 tops, 4 tops and even an outdoor seating option too.
Since neither of us had been to this brunch spot before we took a little time to look over the menu and talked with the friendly staff member behind the counter. She showed us that not only did they have their regular menu but also a seasonal menu too, both of us ordered off the regular menu since this was our first time. Noticed that a lot of the menu items on the seasonal menu were not biscuits, but instead different toasts and a few biscuits sprinkled in. I felt as though since the name of the restaurant is the Alabama Biscuit Company, we need to order a biscuit. But of course no shame to anyone who doesn't order biscuits here.
I ordered the pecan goat cheese and honey biscuit and Jasmine ordered the Croque Madame biscuit. I thought it was interesting that each of us ordered different variations of biscuits one savory and one sweet. But we definitely tasted each others to see the difference.
The Croque Madame was interesting, I've had this dish many of times before, but never on a biscuit. I found it interesting that the girl at the counter described this dish as similar to a Eggs Benedict as I never thought of this dish as similar to a Benedict at all. My pecan goat cheese and honey biscuit was absolutely delicious. Think of it as a charcuterie board, but for breakfast. It truly had all of the elements of a charcuterie board, but in a smaller form. The bread, nuts, cheese and honey drizzle. This was one fantastic biscuit.
We also each got a coffee to go with our biscuits. I ordered a coffee off of the seasonal menu and Jasmine ordered one off of the regular menu. The blueberry spice latte was just okay, it wasn't anything special. It barely tasted like blueberries or spices. The vanilla latte Jasmine ordered was just okay I've definitely had better.
I will definitely be back for the food, there is so much to offer and so many biscuits to try. I know I'll be coming back again and again and trying to not order the pecan biscuit, it man was that a heavenly biscuit.
