I first discovered the Alabama Hotel many moons ago in an issue of Frankie Magazine (for those not in the know, Frankie is a painfully hip monthly mag that covers cool people, architecture, fashion, general hipster-dom.) And since that time I have wanted nothing more to spend a night there.
The Alabama is a gorgeous Art-deco style building in Salamanca, filled with cane furniture, indoor plants, bright pink flamingos and intricate murals on the bedroom walls.
Our room was very simple. Just a bed, a heater and a clothes rack with a few hangers. Our view was of the building next to us, but we didn't really need a view so weren't bothered.
The bathrooms are shared and there is a male bathroom and a female bathroom. Do not expect much from these bathrooms, ok? I realised after staying at this hotel that I am *far* too precious for shared bathrooms. They were clean and slick but it was too much of a mental hurdle for me.
If you're on a budget or are looking for a hostel that is just a little bit fancy, Alabama is for you.
