The Alan Manchester

Not worth the money paid. The room was very shabby for what is meant to be a 4-star hotel. There were visible holes in the walls and scuff marks throughout, which made the room feel tired and poorly maintained. In the bathroom, some of the tiles were loose, which isn’t great from either a safety or cleanliness point of view. To make matters worse, the fire alarm went off twice after midnight. There was no explanation, reassurance, or apology from staff, either at the time or when we checked out the next morning. After just getting to sleep, being woken up in the middle of the night like that seriously affected our stay. One half of the window has been permanently fixed in an open position. Even though the gap is small, it let in an incredible amount of noise. Being a Saturday night, the street noise was constant and kept us awake well past 1am. Overall, this hotel did not live up to expectations at all, and for the price paid, I would not stay here again or recommend it to others.

We booked here for my birthday weekend! When we arrived on the 22nd we were struggling with all our bags, we asked the guy on the desk whether he could help us with our bags in the lift but he said he wasn’t able to, we then had to do two trips which was slightly frustrating… Normally in hotels we have visited this service is offered - which it actually was at the end of our stay. We had no problems during our stay, our room was beautiful! The shower took a while to heat up and the toilet had no heating which made it very very cold but these were minor faults. When we left the front desk staff allowed us to keep our bags at the hotel while we explored. We checked out on Xmas Eve in the afternoon at roughly 3/4pm. The gentleman on the desk saw us struggling with all of our bags and he kindly offered to actually help us take our bags to our uber on the road opposite our hotel. This was a huge gesture we felt, we couldn’t thank him enough! We compared this to the beginning of our stay when we asked for help upstairs with our bags and were refused… Overall, would stay again. All staff were friendly and helpful apart from the first day we arrived. Thank you again to the Gentleman who went the extra mile and helped us with our bags when we were leaving.

A new modern hotel, located well in the city centre of Manchester. Beautiful interior design. Food was very lovely for breakfast. The rooms are well laid out but we had issue getting the heating to work so it was a little cold in the night. Still a couple of teething issues but overall a good stay.

I stayed here last night and had a really lovely time. The staff at breakfast were all very pleasant and helpful, but Kai was an absolute standout. He was incredibly welcoming and attentive, making sure I had everything I needed throughout my meal. His warm and thoughtful service truly made the experience even better. Highly recommend!

Absolutely gem of a find. The hotel is contemporary in designs which is nice and comforting. Very spacious hall entry with beautiful marbled flooring. The staff are a great credit to the hotel very pleasant and make you feel relaxed and welcoming. The service is spot on hassle free and always staff around to assist whenever needed. Kai is extremely professional and lovely he really does go out of his way to assit and make sure your happy. Top lad and a great asset to the hotel! Toilets are very clean and accessible. The also have a lift entry to the building to. Bar and food is amazing and you can watch the chefs cook which I find is really fun and intresting to watch. Extremely clean and the staff abide by food hygiene regulations which us good to see. The rooms are spacious and the beds are very comfy. Teas and coffee in the room where great to. Bathroom and room where extremely clean and bath towels of a good quality.

Best location in manchester. Close to Chinatown and gay village, pubs around the corner and very easy to go everywhere with bus and tram. Rooms are nice and staff is friendly. Only downside is the temperature in the restaurant where breakfast is served. Because the doors opens when guests arrive and leave the hotel, there is a continuous cold wind in the restaurant. The curtain that is ment to prevent this, is not allowed to close, so when it’s cold outside, it’s also cold during breakfast.

I had such a great stay at The Alan in Manchester. From the moment I arrived, the staff were welcoming and attentive, making everything feel effortless. The rooms are stylish, modern, and very comfortable, with great attention to detail. The location is perfect — right in the heart of the city, so it’s easy to get everywhere. I also loved the atmosphere in the bar/restaurant, which has a really relaxed but trendy vibe. Overall, a fantastic hotel with brilliant service — I’d definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Manchester.

Total Catfish Hotel From the minute you walk in, this place looks stunning - the reception and restaurant are spotless and really modern. But as soon as we got up to our room on the fourth floor… wow. Totally different story. Brown carpet, green walls, cracks all over the bathroom, old wooden beds, ancient TV - it honestly felt like a completely different hotel. Don’t get me wrong, it was clean, but nothing like the photos online. Next morning we woke up to our bathroom completely flooded because of the cracks. Brown water all over the tiles. We told reception and they just moved us to another room with barely an apology. The new room was closer to what they show online, but still not great. The shower was freezing cold, water all over the bathroom floor again, and dirt in the sink. Just not what we thought we’d booked. We spoke to a few guests who were also staying on both the fourth, third and second floors who all said the same. Disappointing. Honestly, the place looks the part when you walk in, but once you’re in the rooms it’s a total letdown. Definitely won’t be staying here again.

Pretty nice hotel with a 24 hour fitness center. Great location! Very close to tram, buses and local shopping like Primark, Chinatown etc. The lobby and bar are modern looking, but my room wasn't. However, my room was nice, clean and spacious. No free breakfast though, but the staff was superb!

The Princess St. Hotel has a lot of good and some I don't like, personally. Although I was here on 'business' and not in charge of booking this hotel and it's likely unfair to this hotel that I am comparing it to where my company once booked us. That said, that's just the way it goes when reviewing! The hotel, itself, is located in a great, convenient area. It's walkable to Piccadilly Gardens and various shopping like Boots and the ever loved by every American I ever knew, ( not me!), Primark. Great pubs and eateries abound and the arena isn't far, either. Upon arriving you will tote your own luggage up about 6 stairs, as there was no ramp or bell man. The lobby level is modern in a disco sort of way, as is the bar and restaurant below. Andre is great though and me and my colleagues loved him during a recent visit where he explained some of the 'futbol' rules to us during the Fifa World Cup England/Colombia game. Happy Hour is a good one. The gym is modern and nice. My room, hmm.. not so modern. I had a hard time finding plugs! I was unplugging appliances and plugging my two items in! I even moved the tea pot to heat water to the floor since it was there in the most random place and a UK plug. The shower took me forever to figure out how to turn on from running water ( no plug for bathing) to shower. One more note, my sink clogged from just washing my hands and it took forever to drain! No plugs in the bathroom and two small towels for bathing. I did like the staff but just wasn't that impressed with much of anything else. Maybe again, it's unfair because I miss the other hotel which catered to my company a little more. And now you know ! Cheerio!
