Recommended by the hotel concierge and it does not disappoint. We order the butter croissant, chocolate croissant, and chocolate fondant, latte, mocha and hot chocolate. The drinks are great - not too sweet. If the pastry can serve warm that would be perfect. Server speaks great English. Overall very enjoyable experience.

A hidden jewel! Great flair in a side street a little away from the hustle and bustle. Pleasantly mixed guests and nice service. The coffee is great and the selection of beans to take home is impressive. I came across it by chance and will definitely be back on my next trip to Bordeaux.

What a beautiful experience!
The coffee at Alchimiste is carefully curated — you can truly taste the intention behind every cup. Their menu is diverse, offering a wide range of options to suit any mood or preference.
The service is outstanding: warm, professional, and genuinely helpful. If you’re unsure what to get, they’ll guide you with expertise and patience.
Highly recommended for specialty coffee lovers visiting Bordeaux. ☕️✨

One of the very best coffee shops in Bordeaux. Excellent coffee and wide selection of high quality beans. Lovely that you can order « dunes blanches » from the pastry next door when ordering coffee.

Great place for a nice , well made, well selected coffee. Not overly priced… for the great quality. Armosphere is awesome, away from all the noise, but right in the center of the city..
recommended, top top coffee shop in Bordeaux.
We will return every time we come back to the city …
Ask for the second coffee option, we tried an Ethiopian coffee. Good good good .

We had a day in Bordeaux and built our itinerary around coffee and food. Typically I struggle to find (i) great coffee; and (ii) non-UHT milk when exploring coffee shops in wider France, but I was pleased to find a number of options in Bordeaux and having tried 3 cafes, L'Alchimiste edges it as my favourite.
The service was attentive and knowledgeable - the staff took their time to discuss their products and helped us choose some beans to take home which having now got home and brewed on my home machine, I must say match exactly what we were looking for.
The ambience of the shop was spot on and it was in a beautiful tucked away corner of a tranquil street.
If you're in Bordeaux and looking for great coffee, then this is your place.

Yelp
Just remind me not to go there!
The hot beverages are pretty good but the service is soooo deplorable.... The wait is more than 20min for a regular latte....
I know the place gets popular among tourists and locals and it gets easily crowded but please hire some staff for a better service. One coffee barista isn't enough

Yelp
I was in the area and decided to stop by L'Alchimiste and it's situated very nicely in an alley away from crowds. I was really excited to get some iced coffee but because iced coffee isn't really popular in Bordeaux, I had to settle for an orange juice because it was way too hot to drink hot coffee. There's ample seating however I'm sure it has its peak hours. The baristas were nice but I don't think my orange juice was worth 4 euros!

Yelp
This place is so fantastic. The cappuccino was the smoothest I've had and truly delicious. They have dune Blanche on the menu and they get them from the actual store down the street. And they are amazing. Very friendly staff and good prices. My wife and I loved it and plan to go back tomorrow morning!

Yelp
By word of mouth, its an overall highly recommended coffeeshop. after my visit, I would have to say, I agree. Barista works downstairs while patrons are seated upstairs in a little loft. (tip: Dont visit with shopping bags or gear, you wont make it past the narrow stairs) Atmosphere is also very calm and soothing. Coffee is made well however, I prob wouldnt recommend the pastries there. Just enjoy the coffee. Plenty of other bake shops nearby to grab a bite from

Yelp
Super friendly staff and the best espresso drinks we found in the area. Came back every day we were in Bordeaux!

Yelp
So if you're completely frustrated with the terrible coffee in France it's your lucky day because your coffee woes are over. Run over here because this place is awesome. Before or after , make sure to grab a dunes pastry from right across the street . It's probably one of the best pastries I've ever had! I will dream of dunes all of my life ...

Yelp
Awesome coffee. Great place relaxed and make sure you have a Dune... then go directly across the way and by a whole box of them......
