The Alest Hotel

"Why book? Polanco’s newest boutique offers a taste of British style in Mexico City. Set the scene: Bright red chairs around jet-black coffee tables are the perfect perch for posh international travelers to enjoy their morning coffee during a stay at The Alest, Polanco’s newest boutique hotel. Beyond a sleek British-inspired façade, guests are greeted by a contemporary lobby and bar, replete with a fireplace, where a white marble staircase leads to 19 sophisticated guest rooms and suites. The backstory: Inspired by a fictitious tale of a roving British family of adventurers, The Alest brings a distinct sense of British hospitality to Polanco, Mexico City’s posh, international borough. The rooms: Of the 19 contemporary guest rooms, nine offer an exclusive view of the leafy Eugenio Sue street and all feature a curated collection of Mexican art and Carrara marble-clad bathrooms. The three junior suites are located on the third floor and have their own large terrace on the upper part of the building, overlooking the treetops. Food and drink: The property’s restaurant, 45, is helmed by chef Fernando Martínez Zavala, who specializes in contemporary Mexican cuisine with a flair for international presentations. Adjacent to the restaurant is the ground-floor bar, which features a signature cocktail crafted by the mixologists at Limantour, often regarded as one of the best bars in Mexico City. The spa: The property has no on-site spa but can arrange in-room massages for guests. The neighborhood/area: The bed and breakfast is only a few blocks from Polanquito, an area with myriad cafes and shops. It’s also conveniently located near the leafy Lincoln Park, a delightful area to pass an afternoon or attend a cultural event at the open-air Angela Peralta theater. The service: A fleet of complimentary bikes with rattan baskets are available for guests who seek to explore the boutique shops and cafes of Polanco. The property also has butler-style services, as well as quirky amenities like a cache of remote-controlled model boats and yachts for guests to take to Lincoln Park and join the locals in an afternoon of pond racing. Anything left to mention? Don’t miss the property’s ground-floor shop, Casa Ku, which features traditional Mexican products, from ceramics and handwoven placemats to jewelry and dresses." - Michaela Trimble

The Alest Hotel (Mexico City, Mexico) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Waking up in the Alest you might just forget for a moment that you’re not in London but in Mexico City’s upscale Polanco district. This 19-room luxury boutique hotel is as cosmopolitan as they come, with Italian herringbone hardwood floors, Le Labo bath products, and bathrooms clad in Carrara marble. Of course, it’s also intimately connected to its neighborhood, with locally made artworks and objects in the rooms and suites, and a bar and restaurant that present an opinionated take on the local traditions — the restaurant is by the well-known local chef Fernando Martínez Zavala, and the bar’s menu was crafted by Mexico City’s famed Limantour cocktail bar." - Tablet Hotels

The hotel is amazing and the service was incredible. Beautiful space in the best part of town. As an example of their amazing service, when I got to the airport to leave I realized I left my passport and significant cash in the hotel safe and so the hotel sent a driver to take me the passport/cash and we were able to catch our flight home. Breakfast was also amazing and the service staff were incredible as well. My wife and I will be coming back!

Our stay at The Alest in Polanco was exceptional in every way. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm, personalized service—every staff member greeted us by name and made us feel truly at home. Special thanks to Captain Armando, Mrs. Maribel serving us breakfast every morning, Mrs. Carla in the reception, Mr. Johny serving us dinner and Mr. Joaquin.||The hotel itself is pristine. Our room was not only extremely clean but also elegantly designed. The hotel has a private space reserved for guest that served perfectly as a quiet office and a refined spot to receive family. The guest bathroom was the most beautiful bathroom I have ever visited. ||The food was outstanding—each dish was thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. The complimentary breakfast was a standout: fresh, generous, and far above typical hotel offerings.||We originally planned to move to another hotel in La Condesa after a couple of nights, but we were so impressed by The Alest that we decided to extend our stay instead. It was absolutely the right choice.||The hotel’s private car service made transportation easy and comfortable, and the location in Polanco was perfect—safe, walkable, and right in the middle of some of Mexico City’s best restaurants, shops, and museums.||In every way, The Alest delivered a five-star experience. We’re already looking forward to returning and will enthusiastically recommend it to friends, family, and colleagues.

Picked Alest Hotel for a girls’ trip and it was a great call. We each had our own comfortable, well-appointed room, and really appreciated having the restaurant on site. The library/lounge area was a lovely surprise—quiet, cozy, and perfect for downtime. No gym or pool, but the rooms were spacious and the whole stay felt easy and thoughtfully designed.

An absolutely elegant and gorgeous hotel. The staff is so thoughtful. We were especially impressed with the delicious drinks and food at the bar and friendly server and bartender, Johnny and JP. We recommend ordering the ribeye taco and Pineapple Express cocktail. Perfecto!
