The Alex Hotel

Happy with our choice and stay! Ladies at front counter very helpful and friendly. Rooms are a bit on the smaller size but clean and comfortable. Sleep quality was good. Glad that the windows open for room was a bit warmer than we like it at night. Had a rental car, so parking out back was nice but there was a charge. Wine bar and patio very nice. Served wonderful wines might add! We were ok paying a bit more for a nice place like this is but were a bit surprised breakfast was not included. Was a nice breakfast though.

I've visited Freiburg three times now and have stayed at the Alex Hotel each time. The service, cleanliness and location is quite outstanding - a real credit to the owner, Alex Beinert, and his staff. If you book there, tell him I sent you !!! Michael Gottschalk Perth, Western Australia

Modern, comfortable, super friendly, great dinner recommends, enjoyable breakfast. Easy location to find and walk from to enjoy Freiburg.

Of the 4 hotels we stayed at during our recent Christmas market venture, this was our favorite. The location was perfect for us. While there are hotels closer to and within the city center, we found the Alex Hotel's location to be both an easy 10-minute walk from the train station and about the same distance into town. The surrounding buildings and neighborhood are safe to walk and we encountered no issues or concerns with location. The rooms were both clean and spacious (we had a king room) and our large suitcases fit and still allowed room for us to move around. The breakfast is a buffet and has ample warm and cold offerings. The coffee was outstanding. We stayed for 2 nights and found ourself in the bar/lounge area both evenings. They have a small wine selection featuring wines from a nearby vineyard which I prefer when traveling over wines that are mass produced or that I can find at home. We had the Pinot Noir both evenings. The bedding was comfortable and the pillows great. This is a family-owned hotel and the owner is involved in the everyday operations of the hotel. This ensures a smooth-running facility with a vested commitment to quality. We had nice conversations with several family members during our stay. I would like to return to Freiburg during summer season and will choose the Alex again.

The hotel is greatly situated minutes walk from all attractions! Very clean and modern, all rooms and common spaces are brand new! The staff are very friendly and helpful! Would definitely stay there every time I am in Freiburg! Make sure to have the breakfast included, since it is very high quality!

This place is amazing! Stop searching and book now. My wife and I spent 3 nights here and found the proximity to the train station and the city center to be perfect. The staff are helpful and knowledgeable. The room description is accurate. ||Try the rosé!

Excellent modern hotel in a quiet back street about 10 minutes walk from the old town. The staff on reception were very helpful and the room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was also good. A couple of warnings: if you use the parking garage, the passageway to the basement is very narrow and steep. And the town of Freiburg gets very quiet after 9pm in the evening. Perfect if you are visiting the university, also close to the railway station and just outside the historic centre of town. Very modern, and a lot of attention to small details (eg nice soap and shampoo in little bottles replaced every day, a bottle of water refilled daily and so on). Extremely friendly desk, staffed 24/7. Very quiet side street (bar a late night party in the high school across the street on Thursday night:-) )
