Disappointing experience. I thought I’d found the perfect spot for a Sunday date night, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. We were initially impressed by the beautiful interior and cosy lighting… such a promising start.
We ordered a bottle of wine and a few small plates: oysters, olives, burrata, and cheese toasties. Not long after, our waitress came over, very apologetically, to let us know they were out of bread. She saw my disappointment and kindly offered to make a toastie using leftover baguette, which I appreciated.
But things continued to go downhill. She returned again to say they only had five oysters available, not the six I ordered. With such a small menu, having two items unavailable already felt like too much.
When the burrata arrived, it was served with slices of stale, rock-hard baguette. Untoasted too though toasting might’ve salvaged it. The oysters were borderline lukewarm, served without a slice of lemon and with barely any vinaigrette.
The improvised cheese toastie came out on two thick, dry slices of bread with barely any cheese…perhaps they’d run out of that too?
On top of all this, the service was slow. The food took forever to come out, despite staff standing around chatting.
We ended up leaving with a half-finished bottle of wine, feeling pretty let down. A shame, because the space has potential, but sadly, the experience didn’t match it.
