Went here for a special evening meal with family . I've been here in the past and then it was excellent. Now it's the biggest rip off in the area. Extremely expensive. No table clothes anymore food arrived in dribs and drabs .the waitress managed to tip food off two plates onto the bare wooden table . Service was appalling overcooked chips that were too hard to eat . As for the cheap ice cream. .... tescos own brand would knock it into a cooked hat . They were unable to cook salt and pepper squid gluten free so either it's bought in ready prepared or the chef has no idea how easy it is to prepare without wheat flower or couldn't be bothered. I've never been this disappointed by a meal and ripped off by a bill ofl over 2020 pounds ever . Why has the class and excellent food and gone . NEVER AGAIN.

My friend and l went for a festive lunch earlier this week. The hotel excels in charm and is well decorated for Christmas. As soon as we walked through the door we were greeted by friendly staff, the atmosphere was vibrant with everyone enjoying themselves. The festive menu gave ample options. The food we chose was hot and delicious and so well presented, the portions were very generous. We were looked after so well by Bonnie our waitress, Such good value for money.

We are repeat visitors to the Alverton as convenient for family and always very welcoming on arrival and during our stay. The hotel is beautifully decorated for Christmas as this time of year the building does shine. We stayed in a superior courtyard room which I recommend as it’s Xmas party season so can be noisy in the main hotel. |Some things of note on this visit is the breakfast service can be very hit and miss. Some days it efficient and others it can be very slow sadly on one of our days they forgot our hot breakfast which I had to ask for twice. The actual breakfast is lovely it’s just the service lets it down at times. Our favourite area is the bar, staff are so friendly and helpful nothing is too much trouble. I prefer sitting in there than the main dining room especially with the log fire. Special mention to Babette what a star and Simon who both go that extra mile to make it welcoming. ||Sadly on our last day the room wasn’t serviced which was disappointing as we were late back in the evening however we told reception the next morning who gave a discount for that night .||Overall we love the Alverton just need to crack breakfast service and it’s a winner.

We did High Tea at the Alverton Hotel and it was wonderful. The atmosphere is classic, with comfortable seating and spacious tables. Everything started off with Mulled Wine (milkshakes for the kiddos) and the staff were very accommodating with our group's food allergies/intolerances. The food and tea were both delicious. Service was efficient, with questions being answered thoroughly. All of the staff were very friendly. It's certainly not inexpensive, but it's a lovely experience that everyone should try at least once.

Each year we take a pre-Xmas break in Cornwall. Somewhere close by with good shopping. This year we chose Truro and the Alverton popped up as potential accommodation. We’ve not been|disappointed. Lovely room. Excellent service and good food. Only a star off because our deserts were forgotten on the first night. We did get drinks vouchers as an apology. Would recommend and have already to family and friends

Great location for exploring Cornwall and a very nice hotel. We stayed in lovely garden view room with excellent facilities. Very comfortable bed and spacious bathroom with both bath and walk in shower. Friendly helpful staff throughout the hotel. Food is highly recommended from breakfast to dinner. Only a five minute walk into Truro centre. Definitely recommend.

We had a fantastic stay at the Alverton last weekend. This was a return visit for us, and we treated ourselves to one of the suites up near the Courtyard. The room was beautiful, very clean and nicely presented and felt very luxurious. We enjoyed relaxing in the bathtub which adds another layer of luxury, especially with the high end Bloom products that were stocked up next to it. The staff deserve a special shout out and were all exceptional, very friendly and helpful from check-in on the reception desk, our lovely waiter Eden who was incredibly attentive and efficient (we both commented on his warm and professional service) and also lovely staff who served us breakfast in the morning. We had a delicious meal in the restaurant in the evening with some non alcoholic cocktails and one of the best desserts I’ve ever had! Then breakfast in the morning was spot on, we both had a full cooked breakfast and also some fruit / granola to start which were equally presented in a very aesthetic way. We would highly recommend this hotel, it’s a beautiful location in Truro but you feel like you’re somewhere else because of the beautiful gardens and all the trees. The building is enchanting!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The staff were absolutely top notch, All of them; which makes a holiday even better. Clean rooms, attentive room service, and an all around peaceful stay. There are several nice little alcoves to relax and enjoy a beverage or catch up on reading. Afternoon tea here was the best overall on our 12 day holiday tour of England. Must have been that Cornish magic to everything.

Yelp
Came down to cornwall for the weekend and ended up here for dinner on our first night in Truro. The hotel itself is beautiful, an old convent with gorgeous features and lots of space as could only be expected. The bar and restaurant area are very modern and light with plenty of seating for large and small groups. The bar was well stocked and the staff were lovely. They had more gin on offer than I even knew existed ! The food was lovely. Menu had a great selection of meat and seafood with a few vegetarian choices. We had a selection of starters which everyone loved, I had the pork belly which was cooked absolutely perfectly. For my main I had the duck breast, and no word of a lie, this was probably the best tasting and most well cooked piece of duck I have ever had. For dessert I had the deconstructed peanut butter cheesecake which consisted of various ice creams and peanutty goods which again was lovely, but we all know Cornish ice cream is the best in England ! I would definitely come back to the restaurant, fairly pricey but the food and setting are both worth it. Only 2 mins walk from Truro centre too ! 5*

Yelp
We just had our wedding at this venue and it was absolutely amazing. The venue itself is beautiful and the staff were first class. The food was amazing also. Can't rate this place highly enough. Sam & Alana

Yelp
Been to a wedding here and a few corporate events and it's OK, they could make so much more of it though given its beautiful setting and buildings which are stunning. The staff are rude (just ask Chris Moyles who stayed recently and documented this!) and I have had first hadn experience of them cancelling our work Xmas party there with 1 week notice and then trouble getting the money out of them and they didn't even offer any kind of recompense for the inconvenience. Poor effort.

Yelp
great hotel, bit eery in the main ballroom area - dancefloor where the alter would have been bit odd!
