The hotel is beautiful and the staff are fantastic. The breakfast was delicious. Unfortunately our rooms had two huge generators attached to the outside wall and they started up very loudly every hour, so no sleep for a 4 hour drive the next day. Enjoy the gorgeous hotel, but top tip..just don't stay in rooms 16 and 17!

I go to Truro for an annual social event and this Hotel is always my first choice. Rooms and service excellent over all my stays. The hotel is in a great location with great landscaping and is definitely a treat to stay there. My only thing I would mention is due to the character of the building, there are many stairs, so do make arrangements with the hotel if you have walking difficulties.

We celebrated a small family wedding here and it was perfect. The staff went above and beyond and took a very helpful, proactive approach. We stayed in a family room/suite and were impressed. The room and bathroom were both sizeable, and it was good to have a separate shower and bath tub. The room was well furnished with extremely comfortable beds. Some nice touches included a fan and some yummy home-made Cornish shortbread! I particularly enjoyed sitting on the terrace admiring the beautiful garden. In the morning, I was delighted to find breakfast was à la carte style, instead of the usual luke-warm buffet style you often find in hotels. The breakfast itself was FANTASTIC! High quality ingredients, a great variety of options for eggs etc and definitely one of the best I’ve had.

As a business I hired the Great Hall for an event. I could not have asked for more. The staff were absolutely fantastic and couldn't do enough. I worked with their events team in particular Sally Stobbs and also Lilly on the evening. The team were quick and efficient when it came to those VERY last minuet changes and all done with a smile. I would have no hesitation in booking again as it is such an impressive place to hold an event. The only comments I would have is that although large, the projector screen really needs to be larger for the size of the room.... (Difficult for clients to see details from the middle of the room and impossible from the back) or have additional TV screen that can be placed further down, say the mid room point, The price for tea and coffee was a little steep but I do understand that they have to pay staff for serving and clearing and the PA system was really good. easy to adjust and allows everyone in the room to hear what is said clearly.

I have stayed at the Alverton many times, whilst working in Truro. It is an exceptional and unique hotel, in an amazing historic building. Even the basic rooms are excellent in terms of space and decor, and other rooms are exceptional.|This weekend I returned to the hotel with my wife to celebrate our anniversary. The hotel had decorated the bed with petals, and left a bottle of wine and a card for us, which created a great welcome when we got to the room.|We dined in the restaurant, and the food was up to the expected high standard. The service was friendly and attentive.|This hotel really has the 'wow' factor with its location and building, and the service is there to match. I'd recommend it to anyone, both for those staying in Truro (a great central location) and to anyone who's after something a bit special.

Excellent hotel, with in walking distance to Hall for Cornwall for theatre show. We stayed in room 42 in the courtyard for 1 night. Beautiful room so peaceful second time in the same room. Great service from all staff, amazing breakfast. |Fully recommended .

Stayed on a B2B double booking before and after a cottage stay in the area. Communication before booking was prompt courteous and helpful and all my quirks were addressed in the best possible way. It is a magnificent place, which manages to strike the perfect balance and is luxurious without being snotty, comfortable without being shoddy, and it exudes an aura of nostalgia for the times that were. Our room - garden view - was spacious, quiet (even a wedding party held one night did not disturb us unduly) , clean and full of light, with a big sleigh bed and a very nice bathroom with bathtub and shower cubicle. Breakfast served at the table with menu choice - very good bread and pastries but only poached eggs (you can request scrambled but the ones we received were a bit sandy). Service prompt and courteous. public spaces grand and relaxing, lots of green all around. The hotel is positioned on a low hill near a main road from which the traffic is not heard from the garden room even when the mullioned windows are open, and easily reachable from the center of Truro - a lovely and proud Cornish city - on foot (about 15/20 min.), by bus from the main road or by taxi (about 3 gbp ride). I am truly looking forward to our next stay. Kudos to one and all.

Family event held at The Alverton in The Great Hall. Excellent food. Beautiful space. Staff were excellent setting up visual and sound tech. Couldn’t fault it. Staff in the bar were lovely!! |Big thanks to Patrick and Charlotte who were our event supervisors and were friendly and attentive throughout the event. Nothing was too much to ask of them.

Yelp
Came down to cornwall for the weekend and ended up here for dinner on our first night in Truro. The hotel itself is beautiful, an old convent with gorgeous features and lots of space as could only be expected. The bar and restaurant area are very modern and light with plenty of seating for large and small groups. The bar was well stocked and the staff were lovely. They had more gin on offer than I even knew existed ! The food was lovely. Menu had a great selection of meat and seafood with a few vegetarian choices. We had a selection of starters which everyone loved, I had the pork belly which was cooked absolutely perfectly. For my main I had the duck breast, and no word of a lie, this was probably the best tasting and most well cooked piece of duck I have ever had. For dessert I had the deconstructed peanut butter cheesecake which consisted of various ice creams and peanutty goods which again was lovely, but we all know Cornish ice cream is the best in England ! I would definitely come back to the restaurant, fairly pricey but the food and setting are both worth it. Only 2 mins walk from Truro centre too ! 5*

Yelp
We just had our wedding at this venue and it was absolutely amazing. The venue itself is beautiful and the staff were first class. The food was amazing also. Can't rate this place highly enough. Sam & Alana

Yelp
Been to a wedding here and a few corporate events and it's OK, they could make so much more of it though given its beautiful setting and buildings which are stunning. The staff are rude (just ask Chris Moyles who stayed recently and documented this!) and I have had first hadn experience of them cancelling our work Xmas party there with 1 week notice and then trouble getting the money out of them and they didn't even offer any kind of recompense for the inconvenience. Poor effort.

Yelp
great hotel, bit eery in the main ballroom area - dancefloor where the alter would have been bit odd!
