Our Favorite Universal Orlando Resort Attractions You Can't Miss | Condé Nast Traveler

"One of the original attractions built for the opening of Universal’s Islands of Adventure in 1999, The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man has held its ground as one of the best 3-D motion rides out there. It combines impressive high-definition projections with just about every special effect there is, including wind, heat, strobe lights, and water (don’t worry, you can leave the poncho in your backpack), but they all work together seamlessly for an exhilarating experience. Keep an eye peeled for Marvel Comics founder Stan Lee; the Spider-Man co-creator makes multiple cameos in this attraction." - Valerie Marino

If we had to choose just one ride at Universal, it would definitely be this one. It's incredibly fun! You get to enjoy a thrilling 3-D experience combined with an indoor roller coaster. We loved it so much that we rode it five times in a single day! The line itself is exciting too; it really makes you feel like you're part of this amazing universe. Plus, we even got to meet Spider-Man afterwards, which was such a great experience. Overall, this is one of the best rides at Universal!

Okay I’ll make this quick, This attraction is a motion simulator moving dark ride, it will move you around sets in New York! This is for the whole family to enjoy it will rock your world! This is definitely a must ride.

As a non-roller coaster rider this is far amd away my favorite ride at any park in Universal (including epic)! I went on one last time before we left and it only got better. The 3d is done perfectly and the car you ride in is perfect for taller 6'3 riders like myself. It puts you right in the 90s animated series and is a must ride for anyone visiting islands of adventure.

Google
What a throw back to days of reading Spiderman comic books and anticipating those TV episodes! It's kinda cool that this themed ride kept the nostaglia (or the management don't want to invest more) but the experience can be one about the evolution from what it was to the current spider verse.

Google
I think the ride is worth 3 1/2 stars. My family all enjoys it more than I do. The ride queue needs updating. The ride itself is ok but makes some people nauseous from the 3D experience. I think the story of the ride isn't the greatest but it's fun when you have air, water, and fire shooting towards you.

This ride never gets old! Even if you know what's coming from riding so often, the execution is so flawless that the ride is always as thrilling as your first run through. It's also fat friendly and is a good escape from the heat.

This was the best virtual ride we had on the Island of Adventure. There was a waiting time of 30+ minutes. We got into that ride two times one at first and ended up with this ride at night. The wait time at night was less than 30 minutes. We can see many things well arranged through this queue. We were given 3D glasses and got into the ride. The front seat experience was better.

Google
The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man at IOA has become a classic ride over several decades. When it came out about 20 years ago, it instantly became the most beloved. I still remember the very first time trying out this ride; it was mind boggling and thrilling beyond expectations. Fast forward 20 years and I got to try this ride last month. It was the same without much notable updates. It was entertaining, dizzy (due to my age and motion sickness) and thrilling. The experience was great, but can’t say it was the greatest like I did 20 years ago. Not only Spider-Man’s popularity is being out-rivaled by IOA and USO’s own new rides (Hagrid, Velocicoaster, etc) but they are outclassed by some of Disney’s new attractions (ie Avatar, Rise of Resistance, etc). Hope they make some updates to remain as the most beloved classic rides.

Yelp
I remember coming to Universal when I was 6 years old and riding this ride and thinking it was the best thing that I'd ever been on. I returned many many years later and have that sense of wonderment once again. Spider-Man is one of, if not, the top most recognizable character in the marvel universe and seeing him come to life and break the fourth wall and talk to you is so cool. The ride is my favorite of this type that they have at Universal, others May incorrectly draw comparisons to The Simpsons ride, but this one is a mix of a ride track and a 4D show much more similar to Transformers at Universal Studios. Revisiting this ride after Stan Lee's passing makes his constant cameos in this ride even more special. Spider-Man fans young and old will love going through the daily bugle in the queue, and seeing different areas within New York. Iconic characters and villains are shown throughout the ride, from Doc Oc to Hobgoblin, to J Jonah Jameson, I had an absolute blast as a kid and had an even bigger blast as an adult.

Yelp
This is a bit more my speed, a motion simulator instead of an actual roller coaster. The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man does whatever a spider can and in this case, it's a moving car and some very elaborate set design that makes you feel like it's going but you're really just moving along on a track. Definitely a lot more my speed compared to The Incredible Hulk Coaster. [Review 1023 of 2024 - 1899 in Florida - 22051 overall]

Yelp
Loved this ride! My favorite part was the attention to detail in the queue. It feels like you're really touring the Daily. We were also lucky enough to meet Spider-Man so the kids really enjoyed this one.
google avatar

Molly M.

Yelp
Classic Spiderman is still the best. The ride is a good example of a theme, not thrill ride. It's good for all ages, requires 3D glasses for the full effect, and there is some water spray especially in the front seat. It's a great time and the ride has aged well. It isn't super fast, but has a lot of great detail. Hope into the scoop to get headlines and watch Spiderman in action.

Yelp
The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man is one of Islands Of Adventure original rides when it opened in 1999. It is located on Marvel Super Hero Island. Based on Marvel Comics Spider Man, the ride has roving vehicles and it combines 3D projection, sets, and special effects. It has won the Golden Ticket Award for Best Dark Ride for 12 consecutive years. In 2011 Universal refurbished the attraction making the video 4K high definition, making better 3-D glasses, adding new animation sequences, and updating the mechanics. Background details were enhanced to make the experience sharper. Spider-Man reopened on March 8, 2012. The ride queue takes you through the Daily Bugle and during the ride you become a reporter. Before you board the 12 passenger Scoop vehicle, grab your 3-D glasses. The Sinister Syndicate made up of villains Doctor Octopus, Scream, Electro, Hydro-Man and the Hobgoblin have captured the Statue of Liberty with an anti gravity gun and Spider-Man must defeat them and save you and your fellow reporters. This is a 4-D multisensory attraction. When the Hobgoblin hurls a flaming pumpkin you see real flames and feel the heat. The final 400 foot drop off the tower gives you the illusion that you are really falling. Scott Trowbridge of Universal Creative was Spider-Man's original show producer. He has since gone on to do principal work on Star War's: Galaxy's Edge for Disney Imagineering. This ride has held up well through the years. My favorite part is finding the cameos made by Spider-Man creator Stan Lee that were inserted during the update. While this is a motion simulation ride like Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, the motion is less jarring making Spiderman a family friendly ride for all ages. Since this is an older ride you can often get on with a 30 minute or less wait. Spider-Man is an Islands of Adventure classic and not to be missed if you are a Marvel fan.

Yelp
Great ride for kids and adults. It's an old classic, but definitely a lot of fun! If you have a few people that are too scared of roller coasters, fear not. This is a great compromise and won't have you too nauseous. IG:QueenOfAdventure

Yelp
This is a really fun ride that the kids enjoyed. During the ride you wear 3D glasses and also feel special effects. The ride simulates a news van being driven through town as its attacked by super villains. Bumps and turns, even simulates flying through the air after being thrown. A little water, a little heat. Overall a great ride that we went on multiple times.

Yelp
The decorations in the wait line hasn't been upgraded since they have opened this ride which is cool because it's nostalgic. Unless the the line is really long the bulk of the wait is indoors. The ride itself is fun with a lots of twists, turns and a bit of spinning. The 3D adds a nice touch as well. One of our favorite rides here.
google avatar

Yelp
The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man is a 3D-ride in Universal Islands of Adventure. Been on this ride sooo many times and a must every time I am here. Yes, this is a popular ride so the wait times can be long. As you wait in line, you see the Daily Bugle, office, etc.. go around until you get to the ride. Don't forget to take 3D glasses and stay with your group or if you're going as single rider, stand in the lane you are directed to. Amazing 3D effects as you go through the ride... When you are done, don't forget to return the 3D glasses. Visit the gift shop to purchase any souvenirs.

Yelp
This was such a fun experience! It was probably one of the top favorites in Island of Adventures. It was really interactive and nice, my family loved it too.
google avatar

Jay S.

Yelp
This is definitely one of the better 3D / 4D rides. The entrance is modeled after the 1994 Spider-Man The Animated series. The ride is fun and action packed.

Tae Kyung Y.

Yelp
I would give this a 3-star review as of now, but I do have bias -- this was one of my favorite rides at Islands of Adventure and I have a deep obsession of Spider-man. Being one of the few 3D rides inside Islands of Adventure, this ride takes you on a journey to fight the villains of Spiderman and you get to do it in the grand New York City. Get your 3D glasses on and you're on your way in saving the world! The animations for this ride do seem a little outdated, but it's still not bad at all and you'll be jerking, twisting and moving around but no worries as your guy Spiderman will be there to save the day! I think this is the best 3D ride in either park and I will try to check this one out everytime I come even if it does give me a little bit of motion sickness towards the end. And of course -- the queue is also fun to look at. They have offices of The Daily Bugle and other interactive things you can look at.

Yelp
I went to IOA on a very busy day and this ride had one of the shorter wait times. I had never ridden it before so I hopped in the single rider line. I was really impressed with the setup and how the vehicles moved. The graphics were really cool and I imagine revolutionary for the time this ride was built. Great for the family and is in 3D (noting that since I know some can be sensitive to 3D). It's a pretty quick ride so I really wouldn't wait more than a half hour to ride it honestly. But worth jumping on if you've never been!

Yelp
This is a great ride that we always ride with me are in universal studios Orlando. I'm a big Spiderman fan I'm a big adventure ride fan so when you put the together of course it's gonna be a 5 it's a lot of fun 3-D ride shakes y'all around and make Spiderman save the city and this is an overall good family fun ride

Yelp
This has been a favorite ride since the start of our coming to Universal as a family. For me it is so nostalgic. Spider-Man is one of my favorite Marvel characters, I have loved so many renditions of the movies and animated versions. This ride is a classic! I really love the line here, the inside of the Bugle is so fun, I love looking at all of the details they have added when waiting for the ride. The effects, experience, and even soundtrack for this ride is pretty exciting. It makes you feel like you are there moving with the action. This is a must-do ride every visit! I even love that they have included Spider Gwen in the gift shops. I would love to see more character from the Spider-verse animated film, we are big fans and would totally buy their merch!
google avatar

Yelp
As much as I love Spider-man and Marvel in general, I wish I could say I like this ride more than I do. It's a virtual ride and very 3D, and this one is probably one of the most herky-jerky ones I've been on, and it can get pretty intense so just be warned of that. Waiting in line to ride is pretty darn cool. It's set up like you're walking through the Daily Bugel office (the newspaper where Peter Parker works). It's all very old school and has such good vibes. The ride itself is very cool, don't get me wrong on that. But there are parts where there's high heat and a lot of sudden motion and even for me, a now adult, it was too much the last time I went on. I just don't enjoy it and it made me feel pretty sick. So if you're like me at all in that way I'd be careful about going on this ride.

Yelp
Universal's Island of Adventure (Florida) MARVEL SUPER HERO ISLAND pavilion My first time on this attraction. It is an indoor, 3D dark ride. We strapped on our 3D glasses and we joined Spider Man in a virtual reality adventure... the bad guys have stolen Lady Liberty and, of course, it's up to the web slinger to save the day taking us along for the ride. I found the ride very engaging with great visuals and cool special effects. There are some fairly mild spinning, not too extreme (I didn't get dizzy). Mostly fun atmosphere... oh, and keep your eyes wide open at the end - you don't want to miss it and don't forget to say "Cheese!" Enjoyed the motion flying around the city and the free falling! It reminded me of the Transformers 3D Ride in Hollywood. Find this attraction in the Marvel Super Hero Island pavilion at the Universal's Island of Adventure side of the resort. Review #1583

Yelp
The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man is another one of the older rides at Universal's Island of Adventure. There was an upgrade to the ride several years ago that greatly enhanced the overall experience. This ride is a big thrill for Spider-Man fans and the lines are always very long. It is a fun experience and worth the wait. It is a family friendly 3D simulator ride with fun special effects. Spider-Man and the villains appear lifelike in your face and at a distance. There is some spinning and you will feel as though you are speeding through each scene. At one point there was a plunge that had the group laughing in excitement.
google avatar

Kristina G.

Yelp
Not a Spider Man Fan and actually avoided this ride for awhile because I don't like simulators. However I was convinced to ride it this time and it wasn't bad at all. You're in a moving vehicle and that helps a lot so you're going through the various scenes and they're blowing fire on your and stuff to get you really immersed but then you do some things with big screens too and by the time you could get nauseous, you're moving again. Its in 3D too which is an added fun effect. I'll ride it again. I had a good time and didn't feel crappy at all! I think that's the secret to a good simulator is to mix it up with actual ride motion and simulation. All simulation is just a recipe for disaster!

Yelp
Masks required. Line was long. We waited around 90 minutes to get on the ride. The ride itself was pretty cool. And it was for everyone regardless of size. Dont have a ton to say. I had my eyes closed through part of it. Like I said I dont enjoy amusement park rides however was trying to make my husband happy after his really poor experience in Universal overall. It does move around and unfortunately that combined with the 3d stuff going on caused me to become somewhat motion sick. What i saw of it was good. and my family all did enjoy this ride.
google avatar

Tina P.

Yelp
Came here with my little family during the pandemic & it was a great experience. We went on this ride first because it was going to take us the longest, according to the app. Everyone was spaced out & followed guidelines on social distancing. It did get a little difficult to do so when inside the building, but line went fairly quick. It is a 4D animated ride where you could feel like it is coming at you where you just want to reach out & enjoy the adventure with them. I say 4D because you can even feel the wind & water coming at you as you're on this trip with Spiderman. Loved all the details & features, so before the park closed, we went on it one more time since the line got shorter. Definitely returning to the Daily Bugle!
google avatar

Tiesha G.

Yelp
This ride was OK. It's not a roller coaster, it's one of those rides you sit in and get moved around, like a motion kind of ride with a monitor in front of you. Lots of moving back-and-forth, and left and right. It shows Spider-Man hiding several of his villains, while we were getting tossed around in between the two. I would not wait long for this ride. Just a ride that you tick off the list, to say you've done it.
google avatar

Nicole B.

Yelp
This is the best ride in this park! Period. Don't argue with me! Nothing beats it. I won't spoil it for you, but go! Multiple times if you can. It's that good!!
google avatar

Karen F.

Yelp
A really fun 3D ride, that sees you as a reporter trying to figure out (get the scoop, as it were) who stole the Statue of Liberty. What's funny is that the cars you ride around in are called "Scoops". The 3D effects are great, from Spider-Man getting in your cart with you, to the villains reaching out to grab you and throwing things at you. There is one scene near the end where your Scoop falls out of the air into a web thrown by Spidey, and you literally catch your breath it feels so real. Don't forget to look for the Stan Lee cameo appearance(s)!
google avatar

Tim K.

Yelp
Easily my favorite ride at Universal Resort, thanks to it's good, clean fun! I have to preface this review by saying that I've been a huge Spiderman fan since I was a kid, so this was one of the rides I was looking forward to most. And I was not disappointed! A mix between a coaster and a 3-D screen ride, you rocket around the room, watching and feeling as Spiderman saves your cart from a fall or the evil Doc Ock carries you away. You feel like a kid again, especially since a lot of footage from the 90's cartoon is used. I loved this ride and would definitely hop on again!
google avatar

Stacy F.

Yelp
Usually I'm not a big fan of 3D rides cause they never look right and just end up making me dizzy or giving me a headache, but this rides unique blend of props and 3D really brings something new to the table. It has been around for awhile but has seen upgrades over time. If you have a premium annual pass this ride does have an express line after 4 pm or you can purchase express tickets if you want also. The line is usually pretty long so you'll want to plan accordingly. We like to play heads up or other games while waiting (we also always bring a back up battery to the parks). Most of the line is inside which is nice on those rainy Florida days. The ride follows the comic more than any of the movies so if you're an avid fan of the comics you will enjoy this one! Overall: A A fun, and mostly updated, 3D themed ride.
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man opened in 1999 in the Islands of Adventure at Universal. Until Harry Potter rolled around, this was the best ride Universal had to offer. It's standing up the test of time pretty well and is still a fun ride. After putting on your 3D glasses, prepare to be taken right into Spider-Man's world. The ride combines the 3D effects, physical effects, dark ride, ride simulation - just so many different elements come together to make this ride great! This is one of very few rides I can justify waiting a few minutes for - I'll go up to 30 minutes waiting on this ride. But of course, I much prefer riding when there's no wait at all! And if there's no wait, you better believe I'll ride it a few times in a row! I have no issue with simulators and 3D rides but if you do, it may make you a bit dizzy. They did some updating in 2012 to make the graphics even more on point. The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man is a fun ride and well worth trying while at Islands of Adventure!
google avatar

Ashlee A.

Yelp
What a wonderful ride! And I won't lie to you guys... I did have to close my eyes a couple times LOL. Went through the single riders line, but the waif wasn't long at all. It is constantly moving for the most part and I love the cars that you ride in.
google avatar

Deshika B.

Yelp
2017's Yelp 100 Challenge 45/100 I am always so hyped to get on this ride! It starts with the queue, which has you weaving your way through the daily bugles newsroom floor, to the executive office of the editor, and even hanging out in the break room where you can imagine having water cooler talk about the latest exploits of Spider-Man. The ride is a mix of 3-D slash coaster, similar to the transformers or simpsons ride, and they did an amazing job with this one. The coolest thing about this ride is all the cameos from Stan Lee, if you don't know he is pretty much Marvels universe creator, and just seeing him pop up as a garbage collector, innocent bystander, or a theater goer running from the chaos, is a delight unlike any other. I always wait in line for this ride no matter how long the wait is, and I definitely recommend riding it every time you visit islands of adventure.
google avatar

Joee L.

Yelp
I was able to get an under 5 minute wait for this ride in the single rider line! It's a 3D ride with special affects. You wear 3D goggles. I was pleasantly surprised by this ride and it definitely made me shirk and laugh throughout it.
google avatar

Joseph G.

Yelp
Was my absolutely favorite ride as a kid. Captures the spider man character greatly and even to this day with technology improvements the ride still remains innovative and fun. A must ride everytime I visit.
google avatar

Sanjay G.

Yelp
as name said, amazing ride it was... we have visited this in off season so it was only 10 minutes wait for us. this ride is in Marvel superhero island section. The ride is based on the classic 90's Spiderman cartoon and not on movies so moviegoers can be bit disappointed but nevertheless, excitement is same and few villains have appeared in spidey movies. It's fast, has interesting twists and turns, and the floating and falling sequences feel very real. It's a 5-D simulation ride (similar to the transformers or Simpsons ride,), so visuals are great and cool. If you sit in the front, you really fit the fire heat. You get squirt by water no matter where you sit. the feeling of falling from the top of the building and Spidey caught you on his web is totally real. they do a great job building a -story and bringing the audience into it. Pay attention to the videos when you are in line. it's fun for all ages Rating - 8/10

Yelp
Great ride! I have rode this a few times recently since I just got my Universal Studios Annual Pass. This ride is a classic! Not only is it fun for all ages, but they also have a single rider line that makes it all the better. This ride is located at Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure in Orlando! The ride is in the Marvel Superhero Land and is so much fun. The queue for this ride gets you excited by giving you a pre-show and it gets you into the Spiderman frame of mind. They have the newsroom, scenes of bad guys, and you hear cops and other first responders talking about the masked vigilante! Then they give you a pair of 3D glasses and you board the ride! The ride takes you through different scenes with different bad guys from the comics and movies. You are in a moving car that is a simulator as well. Its so much fun! They snap a picture of you as well so you can see how crazy it all is. The ride is very interactive and a great ride for everyone! I for sure recommend!
google avatar

Thomas P.

Yelp
The original 3D ride! And who doesn't love Spidey? The 3D is still pretty good. The story is classic. The theming in the line needs a major overhaul. As does the cartoon. It otherwise it's still the perfect ride. And always good to see the late Stan Lee.
google avatar

Paul G.

Yelp
I have always loved this ride! If you're a Spider-Man fan, you've got to try this one. they did a HD update around 2012. If you haven't ridden since then, you gotta go back! Be warned that the ride simulates floating flying, falling and web-swinging. If you've got a sensitive stomach, you may want to reconsider. For some the 3-D can be too intense. A friend removed her glasses, and my wife closed her eyes for the duration of the ride. Keep the glasses on, and keep your eyes open, and you'll have a great time!
google avatar

Liz P.

Yelp
This was a fun ride ... probably more fun than I thought it would be. Tip: do the single rider line! I believe the wait time was about 45-60 minutes when we went, but we literally walked onto the ride by doing single rider. It meant that my friend and I were on two different rides (I had to wait for her after) but that was fine. If you're a big comic book or Spider-Man fan, I'd suggest this one - it seemed to be based more on the comic books than the movie. I wouldn't wait more than a 1/2 hour for it, though.

Yelp
As any frequent reviewer of my posts know, I like to periodically (annually) re-review my reviews as things can change. Sometimes businesses close, get bad, or sometimes, better. This is one of those posts. Yes, I know I've been bad about checking in, but I just had a son, so I've been a bit busy. Plus, since the Pandemic, we've been getting deliveries from here more than actually picking stuff up. Unfortunately, during the pandemic, this ride, as well as the entire park are closed. They should be opened again next month, hopefully. However, since my initial review, my family and friends have been on this ride and to this park soooo many times. As I said in my last review, the Amazing Adventures of Spiderman holds a special place in my heart. This ride is based on the classic 90's Spiderman cartoon that I grew up watching. When I was 400lbs, this was literally the only ride that I could ride. So, as you can probably imagine, I love this ride. Don't get me wrong, this ride is not going to be the best ride you've ever ridden, but it's fun for all ages. It's a million times better than the new Fast and Furious ride though, which is terrible. Even those that are afraid of rollercoasters can ride this one. The ride is fast, has interesting twists and turns, and the floating and falling sequences feel very real. Plus, the wait is interesting as the line has plenty of Spidey eye candy. If you're a fan of the old cartoon, the line is an homage to cartoon. You'll walk through the spiderman's office, watch "news" stories. It's like walking into the cartoon, and it's super cool. Would I recommend this place? Of course! Don't go crazy and wait four hours for this ride though, but as long as the wait is under 1.5 hours, give it a shot.
google avatar

Thomas A.

Yelp
Maybe my kids' favorite ride - so my 4-star is getting a bump because they wanted to ride this every day. It hits all the standard Universal ride bullet points with a solid dose of silly and snarky compliments of Spidey. (If you have the Express Pass you bypass the backstory so you wouldn't 'get' why you're being recruited into the "Scoop-Mobile" to get pictures of the baddies and the stolen Statue of Liberty. Will it matter at all to enjoy it? Nah.)
google avatar

Jana E.

Yelp
Great ride! Look for Ironman in the corner!! Love this ride. If you get motion sick like I do, this ride is totally ok.

Yelp
So happy Marvel got the film rights for Spider Man! That has nothing to do with the ride by the way. The Spider Man ride in the Marvel portion of Islands of Adventures is a 3D/4D ride. The ride takes you on adventure as you accompany Spidey on his journey of stopping the city from being destroyed by villains like Doc Oct, Electro, Hob Goblin, just to name a few. You wear 3d glasses to help enhance certain visual effects during the ride. You will get wet by the way, but not a lot so no need to worry there. The simulation of moving is very well done, especially the portions that simulate falling and elevating. If you have motion sickness, this may not be a good ride for you. The only drawback to the ride is its age. The visual graphics are pretty outdated now. They were cutting edge when the ride first open like a decade ago but now it looks PS2 era graphics. That's just my personal opinion. I'm still a fan of this ride as the story and world building is very well done. The wait to get onto the ride can get really long when the park is in its rush hours (10AM-1PM). I've seen the wait get up to 75 mins, so be sure to get to the park ealry if you don't want to wait too long for this ride. Nothing beats help Spidey save the city!

Yelp
For this review, we're going to Universal Studios Islands of Adventure to review their dark ride: The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man. So far, I've ridden this thing twice. First, I rode it in 2016 and it was unbelievably good and ended up being my favorite ride in the entire park. And then I rode it last year right before the pandemic and yeah, it's still my favorite. Now, my parents have asked me "What's my favorite theme park ride of all time?" And I can't pick, it's just way too hard. However, this is the ride that would more than likely win that title. YEP! This ride is that good. I love just about everything this ride has to offer. So let's get into this review. First, we put on our 3D goggles and get in the car. We start heading into a back ally where J. Jonah Jameson tells us to go find Spider-Man to get some pictures of him for the Daily Bugle. Eventually we follow the Spider Signal and meet the webslinger himself. Now, a problem that I have with newer 3D rides is that the screens are kinda blurry which can be really disorienting. Voyage to the Iron Reef and Justice League: Battle for Metropolis both have this issue and while I still like those rides, it's annoying to say the least. Spider-Man however doesn't have this issue as the 3D looks GREAT. But anyways, he tells us that Doc Oc is on the loose and that we need to watch out. But being the idiots we are, we sneak into their lair where we meet a whole bunch of Spider-Man villians. They have taken the Statue of Liberty (Taken notes from Nuclear Man from Superman 4 I see) and they are planning to reek havoc on Manhatten. However, they spot us and now zooming out of there at mock speeds. After coming toe to toe with Electro, Doc Oc and Scream. We meet Spidy again who again tries to tell us to leave. But he is suddenly attacked by Hydro Man. We speed through more awesome practical scenes before running into Doc Oc and Hobgoblin. Chaos goes on until Hobgoblin throws a pumpkin which is perfectly timed with a fire effect to make it seem like a real effect. Because holy hell. This ride is perfect when it comes to mixing up the practical effects along with the screens. It makes you feel like you're really in the action. However, now we hit the absolute best part of the ride where Doc Oc uses his gravity gun to lift us up. AND OH MY LORD. USO MADE IT REALLY SEEM LIKE WE'RE BEING LIFTED UP INTO THE AIR. THIS ISN'T EVEN DONE WITH SCREENS, THIS IS ALL PRACTICAL STUFF. WOW! THIS IS AMAZING! WHY CAN'T MORE DARK RIDES DO THIS? Eventually, Spidy tries to stop Doc Oc, but he throws us off the building leaving for Spidy to catch us. Saving the day and stopping the villians. After a Stan Lee cameo, we head back into the unloading platform. Where Spidy thanks us for saving the day. Yeah, this ride is straight up Incredible. While I love Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure and Incredible Hulk Coaster, this is still my favorite ride at IOA, and quite possibly my favorite theme park attraction of all time. And considering that this is located right next to Hulk, you'll never want to leave Superhero Island. But yeah, this ride is godlike. Go ride it! Final Score: 100/100 Location: Islands of Adventure Opened: March 27, 1999 Manufacturer: Oceaneering International Last Ridden: 1/10/20

Yelp
This ride never gets old and it's usually the 2nd ride I go on due to the wait times. I have never really waited very long, but it was super busy and had a wait time of like 80 mins! So I definitely suggest you get to it early. They do a great job of making the line super interactive, with videos and props all over. They've even upgraded the 3D glasses (might be why they have an attendant handing the out and taking them back...or people were stealing them, which is ridiculous if you are). The ride itself, I know by heart, but is always fun regardless! Good for the young and old!

Yelp
Spider-Man, Spider-Man, should have gone to Disney-land! But I didn't so I am sad, the kind of sad that makes me mad.... Look out! There goes the Spider-Man! Another video ride. Another. Ugh. Put on 3D glasses, wait for water in the face, and real fire is "hot." What a surprise! Are these the same vehicles as the other video rides... methinks so! Stan Lee pops up more than once. Once should be enough, just like the movies. They are trying too hard.

Yelp
Even though you are seated "comfortably" in this 3-D action thrill ride, you are under constant threat of falling to your impending doom! But Spider-Man saves the day as he protects you with his Spidey skills in the nick of time, over and over again from some popular comic book villains! The action is intense, exciting and heart pounding! This is one of the main rides you must go on while visiting the "Islands of Adventure!" And you can actually boast that your life was saved by Spider-Man!

Yelp
The web-slinger is all right. Sweet 3-D effects and a story that works in multiple iconic Spiderman villians make for a swell time. I suspect Spidey doesn't have the reridability of a roller coaster but that's just conjecture as I only rode once. I'd say this is definitely a must-do at IOA. The line wasn't too bad either. It was maybe about 40 minutes in nice air-conditioning with Spiderman artifacts presented for your approval and vintage Spiderman cartoons playing on the TV. This ride didn't make me dizzy like Harry Potter, even with the 3-D glasses. I did feel right in the action even if the CGI wasn't as realistic as the visuals in Harry Potter. They really do you make you feel like you're falling a long way. I couldn't help but look up at the building after walking out, wondering how much those cars really move. I think if I had a season pass and came here on a slow day I would ride Spiderman with my eyes closed the entire time just to try to determine how much the cars you're in actually move and how much is due to the visual effects. Look out for the Stan Lee cameo and get all wistful. This ride straddles a line between warm, fuzzy nostalgia and thrilling action and does it well.

Yelp
I'm not sure how they do it. But it feels like your really falling hundreds of feet when the web from Spider-Man gets shot at. I'm not one to ride roller coasters so these 3D rides are right up my Alley. I loved the props that are set up while you wait for the ride in line and everything looks so realistic.

Yelp
Fun ride, a bit of a wait. The actual wait had a few interesting things to see. But definitely got boring at times waiting. It's very similar to the Transformers ride. Just a different video is playing in front of you. Fun though to see how it'd be like from Spiderman's POV. Remember to watch out for the Stan Lee cameo!!!

Yelp
I love this ride. I remember riding it like 20 years ago and I still love it just as much today. For me, it was the original virtual reality. The line is usually not too long but even if there is a wait there is a lot to look at. You stroll through the Daily Bugle where you can see old newspapers or the desks of some of the reporters. You can even watch the Spider-Man cartoon at one point. The line does leave you in suspense as to how much longer you have to wait because when you get out of one room there is another to follow. The ride itself is pretty cool. You wear 3D glasses then get into a van sort of thing that takes you on a battle with many of Spiderman's villains. This ride produces just general fun and it is not scary.

Yelp
One the best rides at Universal! This ride is really fun! You see Spider-Man's villains and their actions. There's some spinning and moving around a lot so don't ride this if you have automobile sickness. It's 3-D, so visuals are great and cool. If you sit in the front, you really fit the fire heat. You get squirt by water no matter where you sit. They don't take photos of you during the ride anymore. :/ but it's still fun to pose when Spider-Man captures the photo. If it's 50 mins and under to wait on a crazy day, I would wait for it. 25 mins and under on a non-busy day. I really recommend this ride!

Yelp
As much as I'm more of a fan of the Kong franchise than comicbook movies, and despite the relative ages, this is a better attraction than Kong.
