Really nice pub/hotel. We stayed for 2 nights with 2 small dogs. Super dog friendly, all the staff were lovely with the dogs and in our room they'd left bowls, treats, food and balls for them- really nice touch. In the bar in the evening, they gave us a pit of calming treats for the dogs and they slept so soundly after them, we will have to find buy some when we get home. Breakfast was delicious- really good full English. Our room was in the annexe over the road. It was really nice, everything we needed. So good we've booked again before we left. The only negative was the people in the room above us doing laps round their bedroom at 6am?!

We had a great time here. Props to Anne Marie, Dean (whisky expert) , and all the staff for making us and our two small dogs very welcome. Food was good. Location is great. Hotel is beautiful. Promotions require the Enigma machine to deconstruct. Thankfully, Anne Marie was on hand to guide confused punters through the process. The weekend deal was great value for money. Recommended without reservation

Fab little hotel with some great deals to explore and enjoy. Staff are an asset. Shout out to Anne Marie for decoding the complex special offers. Thanks to Dean for his whisky tour. Food is good and well-priced. It's a dog-friendly hotel and we brought two dogs. They approve - as do we. This is a moderately priced destination that offers great value. We would love to return one day

This is a really great hotel, the views are stunning and it is bang in the centre of Bowness up the small hill. The staff are fantastic and really friendly and helpful. Joe the Manager was also very helpful, friendly and always had time for a chat. The rooms are lovely, small but big enough for what we needed to sleep in, nice clean bathrooms also. The no clean two night stay in exchange for free drinks is also great, if you need clean towels or toilet rolls you can just ask at the bar. We ate on our first night and although tasty the food was served not hot enough and with too much salad on! Breakfast is set out buffet style and is quite basic but you order hot food at the bar, again on our last morning the sausages came out uncooked and a couple of tables were sending them back. The manager was apologetic and offered fresh made but we refused as we had to get on the Road. It wouldn't stop us going back as this is a minor blip that I am sure has now been rectified. Sitting in the lovely gardens enjoying the sunshine was amazing.........

We stayed in this “Inn” one night in Oct 2025. Our room was actually in the building across road from actual pub. Check in not until 3pm check out 10:30am 😏 12pm would be more acceptable.|Room was on top floor of house, warm, spacious and nice decor. Bed was described as a double but was actually two single mattresses on a double base so still had ridge down middle 😟. Bathroom large with bath and separate shower but could do with some shelving or storage.|We had sunday roast in the pub which was lovely. Breakfast tasty and lots of choice. Dog friendly|accommodation 👍 Good value for money, great central location and staff friendly and helpful

We just had a fantastic stay! The staff made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived, always greeting us warmly and ensuring everything was perfect throughout. The food was top-notch, with plenty of delicious options and a great selection of drinks. Our room was spotless, and we slept like a baby every night. Can’t recommend this place enough!

Never been before for food.|It was very quiet the food was ok had the Roast Beef Dinner which was quite tough and was lacking in vegetables we were surprised that its not served with Mashed Potato. We just felt it needed more Vegetables and Mashed Potato, we never read the menu properly, just presumed so its our fault for presuming.|Staff were sat in restaurant eating Greggs which seemed odd. 🤣|Nice Decor and a nice position on the hill.

We had a great time with our dog, Poppy, on a 2 night break at The Angel Inn, Bowness this week. Lovely food, great staff, comfy bed, warm room with every amenity. Thanks a lot - we've enjoyed staying with you.|Location is central to Bowness though on a hill, which is Bowness anyway. But it isn't at the top of the hill so easily walkable to and from the waterside

Yelp
Windermere is exceptionally charming, and the Angel Inn is the cream on the top. We stayed here for one night prior to embarking on a several day hiking adventure in the English lake district. After a train ride from London, we checked in and were immediately escorted to our rooms. It is a gorgeous, well appointed, old white cottage with seemingly unending English charm. The room included a queen bed with comfortable linens, en suite bath with a standup shower, in-room toiletries, coffee/tea service, and incredible views of the town of Windermere. Overall, it was very well appointed with modern features throughout. For dinner, we enjoyed the restaurant's evening special of sirloin and chips. We ordered it medium rare and it came cooked to medium. Prior to that we broke from English tradition, and ordered a very nice fruit & cheese plate for an appetizer. At the end of the meal, their sticky toffee pudding was quite rich and among the top four I've had in my life. They have a very lovely outdoor setting, complete with comfortable tables, that allow for glorious views of Windermere, both the town and the body of water. Angel Inn also has a guest lounge area, with comfortable sofas and chairs that allow you to warm yourself by their wood burning fireplace. It is within easy walking distance to the post office, co-op, Laundrette, and mere. It is a 1.6 mile walk, all downhill, from the Windermere train station. There are also bus routes to take you into town.

Yelp
Beautiful B&B, although it borders on a small boutique hotel. The room was very nice and comfortable. It was easy to find and convenient to walk around town. My food was excellent. Essentially, Bangers and Mash.
