Living in a dungeon is how one can best explain this.. We had a family booking and were given a room in the basement with no view whatsoever and limited ventilation. The rooms are dated, old carpets and walls with tales of sorrow written over. The beds were comfortable and we slept well or probably fell unconscious with the lack of fresh air. There are no lifts or porter available to help with bags and if you are tricked into opting in for free drinks then you give up on room cleaning. This is hygiene 101, why would they not clean rooms other than maintaining that dated look and stench. Parking is a nightmare as it reminded me of driving school and exams. The positive is the friendly staff at dining and location is very good. Proximity to pier, Beatrix Potter, high street and short drive to many scenic places. The grilled chicken was cold which would have even disappointed the sacrifice given by the chicken. Wouldn't recommend unless you plan to experience what living in prison would feel like.

Nicely located hotel in the centre of Bowness on Windermere - lots of pubs and restaurants and shops easily accessible from this hotel. Free parking is always a bonus as was the excellent breakfast they served the following day. The room was nice and the bed was really comfortable. The views in room 33 were spectacular . The bathroom was a little small and compact but very clean . All the staff are really helpful and well presented. We will definitely stay here again when visiting the lakes

Spent 2 nights at this hotel and it was excellent. The location is great. Because there was three of us we stayed in a junior suite. It was very spacious and comfortable.|The hotel has a great feel to it. The bar and restaurant has many alcoves and character and the staff are very helpful and friendly.|Like many reviews have said the cooked breakfast is very tasty. All in all a great stay and we will return.|John Foster

I just spent two nights here with my husband and 8 month old, and it was lovely. The team made me feel welcome right from check-in, and the room was clean and comfy. I loved the Walk Inn Breaks package—it was a great way to unwind. Plus, the food and drink were delicious - the Sunday roast especially! Our first stay at an Inn Collection hotel, but would definitely visit again.

The pub and inn were charming and comfortable. The staff were friendly and the bed/ accommodations were good. Bowness itself is touristy and seems to draw a younger party crowd during peak times. If you’re visiting for hiking and the history of the region, look to Coniston or Grasmere or Ambleside (however, Dale’s Way is a lovely hike- a quick walk from Bowness). The bus system around the lakes is terrific, so I left Bowness each day.

This was our second visit as we stayed here just before Christmas and wanted to experience it in summer as they have a lovely outdoor seating area at the front of the hotel. Service is exceptional and staff cannot do enough for you. My husband is GF and they catered really well for him. We have a small dog who was treated like a prince by the staff and given lots of lovely treats. Whenever we come back to Bowness I think the Angel Inn will always be our go to place to stay.

We stayed at the Angel Inn for 2 nights , during a spell of exceptionally hot weather with our three dogs, and it was a truly lovely experience. The staff couldn’t have been more welcoming (really dog friendly - dogs are welcome everywhere inside ) A special thank you to Sam, who recommended a brilliant shady walk that kept both us and the dogs happy and cool . |The room (annex 22 ) was a bit on the small side with the 3 dogs 🤣 but it was really clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed, including an efficient fan . The warmth of the welcome and the fabulous breakfasts made up for the lack of floor space . We also enjoyed dinner in the beer garden which is well maintained and has a lovely view . We arrived on a Friday afternoon and parked up without a problem, and left the car for the rest of the weekend . The Angel Inn has charm and character, and even in the extreme heat, it felt like a relaxing little escape. We’ll definitely be back . Thanks again to the fabulous dog loving Sam xxxx

We visited today as a group of 7 after having a great experience last October. All meals were good except mine and my daughters. We ordered the red pepper hoummus and avacado sourdough bun but when it came it was literally some hoummus spread on the bun. I informed the lady who had served us and she said she would check with the chef. She came back and said that she was sorry but the avacado hadn’t arrived with the delivery this morning. I said that I was really disappointed that we hadn’t been informed as we would have chosen something else. She said sorry but just walked off. Another lady came over to check how our meals were and I said that I was really disappointed that we were not informed that there was no avacado as they were so bland. She said that they weren’t informed either (I assume she meant from the chef). We weren’t offered another meal or any compensation. We will not be rushing back.

Yelp
Windermere is exceptionally charming, and the Angel Inn is the cream on the top. We stayed here for one night prior to embarking on a several day hiking adventure in the English lake district. After a train ride from London, we checked in and were immediately escorted to our rooms. It is a gorgeous, well appointed, old white cottage with seemingly unending English charm. The room included a queen bed with comfortable linens, en suite bath with a standup shower, in-room toiletries, coffee/tea service, and incredible views of the town of Windermere. Overall, it was very well appointed with modern features throughout. For dinner, we enjoyed the restaurant's evening special of sirloin and chips. We ordered it medium rare and it came cooked to medium. Prior to that we broke from English tradition, and ordered a very nice fruit & cheese plate for an appetizer. At the end of the meal, their sticky toffee pudding was quite rich and among the top four I've had in my life. They have a very lovely outdoor setting, complete with comfortable tables, that allow for glorious views of Windermere, both the town and the body of water. Angel Inn also has a guest lounge area, with comfortable sofas and chairs that allow you to warm yourself by their wood burning fireplace. It is within easy walking distance to the post office, co-op, Laundrette, and mere. It is a 1.6 mile walk, all downhill, from the Windermere train station. There are also bus routes to take you into town.

Yelp
Beautiful B&B, although it borders on a small boutique hotel. The room was very nice and comfortable. It was easy to find and convenient to walk around town. My food was excellent. Essentially, Bangers and Mash.

Yelp
This is my favorite place to stay in the Lake District!!! They have an incredible breakfast and the rooms are beautiful. I can't wait to go back!
