I was blown away by my experience at Angels Share Hotel. Planning a trip from the US to a place I've never been before was a bit of a challenge, but as soon as I saw photos of Angel's Share I knew I had to stay there.
Just a bit of trivia, I had know idea what "Angel's Share" meant until I went on a scotch tasting tour. The Angel's Share is the bit of scotch that disappears during its aging process, or if a bottle has been sitting for a long time, some may disappear. That is the bit of scotch that the angels have taken for themselves. So it's such a cute name for a Scottish hotel!
I am absolutely obsessed with boutique hotels now. The theming was everything, with every room showing off a famous Scot. The service was so friendly from the moment I booked them. Molly helped me over the phone and via email, and she was so accommodating as we added and removed guests (one guest had to cancel his entire trip last minute because of health reasons) from our wedding group. She really went above and beyond! They were willing to match the price I found on a travel website, because I would always prefer to book directly and give my money to the business rather than a travel company. Make sure to book ASAP because they only have a limited number of rooms.
When we arrived they had upgraded us to a bigger room since we were in Scotland for our wedding. The look of the restaurant and bar alone impressed me.. it was such a beautiful atmosphere. Then the room was even more fantastic. Equipped with beautiful furniture, all of the amenities and snacks, and of course- a portrait of a shirtless, kilted Ewan McGregor (lol!) the room was just everything we could have hoped for. My bridesmaids had plenty of space to throw up some fun Harry Potter decorations before we went out for my bachelorette dinner as well.
Service in the bar was wonderful, all the food and drink was yummy! We enjoyed drinks and breakfast here a few times. The chandeliers are beautiful. We didn't notice any noise from downstairs in our room either.
I can't wait to visit Scotland again. If you are planning a trip, make sure you spend 3+ days in Edinburgh. It is an absolutely jaw-dropping city, and is now my favorite city in the world... I wish we had spent more than 2 days to be able to see everything. Angels share a bit of a walk from the train station, but we made the trek in the rain and it wasn't too bad. It is walking distance to Edinburgh Castle, and surrounded by some really incredible pubs and restaurants on Rose St. It really doesn't get any better. Service, atmosphere, central location... what else could you ask for?
