I stopped by the apothecarium on my way home today and had a great experience. Adam was so helpful. He helped me find just what I needed.

Jacki took excellent care of my entire experience at the Apothecarium. She took me directly to the product I was searching for and made a knowledgeable recommendation about products I didn’t know about. On top of that she was genuine and kind. Thanks!

Just about every Apothecarium personel whom I have interacted with (at numerous locations) has been hospitable. Yet the reason why I'm posting a review is because Casey (at the Castro/Market St. location) is phenomenally stellar in customer service, in her knowledge of the products & educating, & she is extremely personable which makes me feel right at home. Nice dispensary, but something is going on with hidden fees. Made an order for pickup that ended up being $24. When I got there and paid with debit it ended up being $28.50. Then on top of that they run it as if it’s an ATM charge so I got a bank fee on top of that. Ended up being $7 more than what was in my order confirmation receipt with no mention of any fees or anything. At least let me know you’re going to rip me off.

It was my first time visiting the store and everyone working here was super friendly/knowledgeable! Casey was especially helpful when I was deliberating between choosing between 2-3 products. I’ll definitely be back soon!

Jackie is one of the kindest people I have ever met. She is incredibly inspirational , knowledgeable and selfless while also valuing her self worth with humility and grace like no other. More recently started coming to the Castro location. I'm used to the SoMa one on Howard, and this location is 3-4x bigger! It is located on Market Street, right across from the Safeway. There are usually open spots on the block out front. They have machines to pay, and I always do, though I've heard they mostly check in the AM. This location is open, bright, and has a wide variety of products! They're sorted by ingestibles, vapes, and have a big flower bar at the back where you can talk with someone in-depth about the herb selection. They have various displays throughout that are sponsored by the different brands they sell. They even occasionally have live demos, where people from the brands come to offer samples, information, and discounts on their products. There are always weekly specials, so make sure to check those out to try and save some money! Each time I've come in here, the staff has been friendly, engaging, and helpful. They are well-trained, and knowledgeable about the different products and brands. If you have questions, or need recommendations for a specific brand or strain, just ask! If you're new to Cannabis, you can just tell them the feeling you want (sleepy, energy, focus), and how you want it (eat, drink, vape, smoke, etc). Every experience I've had at this location has been positive. I feel bad for not mentioning everyone, but specifically big shouts out to Casey, Kirk, Cairo, and Davante! I took an easy stroll to this dispensary after finding them on Instagram. There's outdoor signage and a big logo in the window so it's pretty easy to find. The decor inside was trendy chic, with some rich jewel tones and golds. Once you check in there's plenty of merchandise to browse and the staff is great at helping you sort through options. This was a fun and easy shopping experience.

I went here twice during 420 week, and they had insane sales! Some brands were up to 50% off. The service here was great! They'd come and help when it looked like I was lost and answered all my questions well. Definitely coming back!

Spacious, relaxing and no one bothers you unless you want them to. I order everything online and just pick up! Always parking right in front. Love it.

Came to this bar with friends when it was still "early" (if 10:30pm is early in your books) and it was quiet and decent. Within an hour the bar filled up and it was no longer "quiet". It was definitely challenging to talk but if you're not at a bar to talk and you just want to drink, then it's perfect. The espresso martini was delicious. Could drink them all night. But then I won't be able to sleep. This one kept me awake for hours T-T Ordered some food too, and apparently it's delivered from Woodbury next door? The Buffalo wings were spot-on!

the inside of the dispensary is very classy and clean, also very spacious with all their products displayed. I am a Veteran and get a 10% discount whenever I make a purchase. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I've been buying there since 2016 and wlll continue to do so.

My first cannabis store visit. They need your ID if you want to get something from the store or talk to the sales people. Very clean space with comfy seats and they even provide water.

Please know that because of the friendly, caring, and knowledgeable staff, I would usually give Castro Apothecarium a 5-star review. I have been a loyal customer for many years. However, there seems to be a new business model that concerns me, especially on behalf of the safety of the staff, who again makes the Apothecarium experience amazing. Rather than visiting the "bar" and consulting with a staff member to make purchases based on what I was looking for, it is now set up as a more traditional "retail store" with maybe one or two employees. I preferred having a conversation with a knowledgeable person who I've built great relationships with and trust their expertise. I felt more appreciated as a client with a 1:1 consultant rather than the present experience, which is a shopper (if that makes sense). The prices haven't changed, but the level of service you get is much lower by design. Plus, with so much inventory out on the floor, I am concerned for the safety of the singular staffer should there be a break-in/robbery. With the other dispensaries in the area, I feel like the customer experience has dropped off. Please bring back your knowledgeable, kind, and professional staff with the prior business model, wherein I can also choose to tip them for their outstanding service.

I've been a LONG TIME customer of Apothecarium. This store is the absolute worst with making good on their delivery windows. First, their app barely works when it comes to being notified whether your order is en route or not (showing "Packing" instead for bulk of your delivery time. Second, if you ever call and ask what's up with your driver being late, you're usually lied to and told that "you're up next". Every one of the past 7 orders I've made have been including tonight's being the last has been late. For the record, I called an hour ago and was told "I was next". My order is now once again 28 mins late after the two hour window has gone by. Props to the SOMA location for at least getting delivery times right. This location unfortunately has caused me to go to another provider.

Nice place. Staff knows what they're talking about. Clean. Be prepared to pay SF prices.

I've come with two local friends over two separate occasions. As other Yelpers have mentioned, there seems to be a difference in service and experience based on how busy the store is. Furthermore, the guy my friend was working with during my most recent time in August mentioned that new regulations around packaging was causing a shortage of many items throughout the city. Despite these challenges, this location excels in making information clear and accessible to all types of audiences. Their menu is clear, but really talking with folks is very illuminating. No pressure to buy. Very down to earth. And I just love the modern, elegant aesthetic inside. Can this person come decorate my apartment?

Fantastic dispensary! Everyone i've spoken to there is kind, friendly and very helpful. They always stock what I'm looking for. The delivery folks are outstanding. Just an overall great experience.

Wonderful service here. The people behind the counter will tell you what you need for your pleasures and pains. The prices seem to be about the same as anywhere else. Enjoy.

It's like Tartine Bakery - great products but be prepared to wait needlessly and for too long. It's like they plan their shifts to ensure a 15 minute wait. When the store is almost empty, there's one person helping the five customers. Prices are high, too, paying for the uselessly huge shop (and amazingly, you'll have to line up outside on Market Street most of the time, just to get into the waiting room. I get that reception is legally required, but you won't have to stand around outside at any of the numerous dispensaries in the area. I keep going back to try, and they keep sucking. I said the products are great like Tartine, and I mean it. But unlike Tartine, this is a retail establishment, and the same, awesome products can be had anywhere, such as the three amazing dispensaries within a quick, pleasant walk from this place: Flore, Eureka Sky, and Love Shack. Apothecarium is also a chain, not a nice little local business like the others I have mentioned. I've seen their ads on billboards in Las friggin Vegas.

Gave this place another chance, big mistake. The old location really had a boutique feel to it. This new location is too large, weirdly organized, and has cheap window stickers all over the front windows of the store. After calling ahead an order to pick up, I walked into the store to find four employees helping one customer. Then one barked at me to wait outside. Really? You can't help more than one person? Also, staff are not always wearing their masks properly (chin straps). This place is more expensive than other dispensaries in the city, so to get treated so poorly and to have staff not follow health and safety guidelines is really disappointing. Will never be back.

Been here once when I was visiting SF. They have a wide variety of selections from edibles to smoke up pre rolled joints. I loved the experience of mine where I was greeted by a pretty lady who took all my information and asked me to fill out a form to get sign up. And then my name was called we went to the counter the lady was super helpful she guided us and recommended different things based on our questions. I tried their a cookie and a pre rolled joint and costed me a total of 12$. I was stoned like super buzzed for 4-6 hrs. It was an experience. Overall loved their selections and will visit them next time I am in SF

I think the space that now houses Apothecarium was a club/restaurant I used to drink in many moons ago. Sort of echoing a club atmosphere, the pot shop is fairly large and kinda snazzy. I don't mind the check-in process--you present your ID, then take a seat and wait to be called by name. I dislike crowds, so I've learned to avoid the place later in the afternoon on Fridays and entirely on the weekends. No matter how many times you visit, the person you're to buy product from walks you over to your spot at the bar, opens the menu, then walks around to the other side of the bar to meet with you across the counter. This is great if you're new, needing to peruse the menu yet again, have a ton of time/questions or don't mind standing for minutes on end. Staff are generally good and pleasant to exchange a few words with over a transaction. I have had the occasional doobie rip-eyed (I'm showing my age with that expression) worker, but that's a rarity, fortunately. *street parking is scant *accessible via Market St. streetcar, J-Church and various other Muni trains that run through Church St. station

The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Parking can be challenging so I go after six. They have a huge selection of products.

I don't even recognize this place anymore. All of their bud was below 26% and they're charging $77 for that. Single pre rolls were 17$ plus taxes. No concentrates above 80% thc, didn't even look at the prices. Came in to buy a pen battery, an accessory which has no cannabis in it. The total was 24.96, which shows me it's 20$ but they're charging the full cannabis excise tax... for an item which has no cannabis in it. Hope you're giving that extra 3 and change to the BCC. And on top of that, a $3 debit transaction fee. We didn't buy the cannabis excised battery.

This place it's close to my house and walked by a lot of times and thought it's probably expensive based on how fancy it looks. However, found out they have great products and great deals, plus the staff is super friendly, bubbly and makes me feel welcomed every time. The check in person is making my day better every time I walk in, even if I had an average day before that. Great customer service, the bud-tenders have great energy and are extremely knowledgeable. A friend of mine wanted to stop by here and so I asked a friend which location we should go to and they recommended this one and so we showed up. It was very surprising how organized and professional they were! I have never been to a place like this, it was modern, very cozy and eclectic, the person that helped us was very informative, asking question of what we wanted, why, when, examples to show us exactly what would work for us and what effects it would give us. Mind Blown! Such a great experience, I really liked that he seemed very educated on what they sold and wasn't like here, whatever, you know? Highly recommend.

Driving through SF on our way to Napa and needed to find a place open on a Sunday after 8pm, and this place was a gem! As soon as we were buzzed in. We were greeted by Matt, a Kings fan (just kidding!) and welcomed into the building. The place is beautiful and clean and the professionalism is evident as soon as you walk in. Matt was incredibly knowledgeable, walked us through everything and then gave us a couple suggestions. We were so impressed by the service and how well versed he is. Thanks again Matt! We will be back every time we're in the city!

To commemorate the legal use of RECREATIONAL MJ in CA, I was here! On this special day, the Apothecarium first opened their doors for the life-event. It was glorious! Except for all the news cameras all over the place that day. I didn't need them all up in my business. As expected, I knew I would be in line for a long time; I think everyone knew that; but most of us were in good spirits and making new friends as we engaged in friendly conversations with one another. It helped time go by pleasantly. When I finally made it inside, I found the place to be chic and modern. In other words, BOURGIE. But they know good music with all my 80s jams they were playing! Making it passed the doors was the half way point with about another hour ahead of me, but all was good as were the vibes. Dispensaries are new to me as they are a little ahead of my time. Back in my day I knew of rolling blunts and hitting bongs and pipes. Pens and oils as another method are pretty cool; I'm learning these things from my friends of younger generations (No, I am not that old. Just ignorant. ) To frequent this establishment in the future is still unclear. However, I trust this is an excellent place to buy from; It feels safe. My sincerest apologies to the medical users, many seem to feel their home is being taken away from them now that the doors are opened to recreational users. I think you all deserve priority over everyone else. The staff here are a delight to deal with and they helped me to make the right purchases. Maybe when I obtain my medical marijuana card, I will come back. Just don't tell my mom.

Weird place. They make you wait to get help shopping like we are back in the Medical Card only era. Fire sky and helpful service no doubt but I prefer a place that lets you browse the goods

NO RETURNS ACCEPTED I've purchased a few things from here and usually my experience was pretty good. However after today's experience I wont be coming back in. I recently purchased two packs of gummies. One CBD for anxiety and one higher content THC that was recommended to me by one of the workers. I was hesitant because Ive had some bad effects from thc in the past but he and another worker mentioned that I could use the CBD gummies to come down if the THC was to strong. Since they didnt have a good oil selection, gummies seemed like the next best thing. An hour later I popped one of the CBD gummies and proceeded to have what felt like an allergic reaction. I felt painful tingling up and down my body. It felt like I was being electrocuted. It lasted for hours and needless to say wasn't fun. Realizing that if that was what the CBD gummies were like I had no trust in the higher THC ones I went to return them today where I was told that they have a no return policy. Mind you I didn't try and return the opened pack I tried to return the still sealed pack. The only solution provided to me was to give me a 20% discount off something else. NO cash return just a credit to my account. When the girl could tell I was getting agitated she raised the discount to 50%. OK let me get this straight. I bring in an UNOPENED item with the receipt, tell you I had a bad reaction to a similar product from the same brand and instead of getting my money back you expect me to SPEND MORE AT YOUR STORE. You're joking right? Guess what Apothecarium thats not how transactions work. If you have a no return policy then somebody should've mentioned that to me before I spent the money. The only reason I'm giving one star is the guy who helped me was very kind. Otherwise this place would get a 0. I'll be telling my friends about this place and referring them elsewhere.

I was in the Bay area due to work and since weed is legal in CA, I decided to stop in. The lady at the front desk advised that we would have to register so that they can keep track of how much weed a person was allowed. It was 3 of us in all and the representative that called us back was light skinned with an afro. Very knowledgeable about the product. Informing us about the indica, balance and sativa. We ended up picking edible blueberry and some other kind of candy. I loved the way he broke down the difference between the different types. I cant wait until next time!

I have 2 broken batteries from this location. I also have two broken cartridges. They acknowledge they're faulty and in the same breath blame me. Avoid this place at all costs, I feel like they stole $200 from me (equivalent amount in faulty items). This problem is happening exclusively because of Carly. She has reached out to multiple locations to prevent returns no matter how faulty the item is. If you make the mistake of going to this vendor, at least ask for a new rep if you get Carly. Not only is she rude and ugly (inside) but she's made it so I can't even go to other locations. Avoid.

Clean, informative, educational, friendly. I use the apothecary strictly for my insomnia and the employees across the board have known exactly what I need. Plus the one employee whose name is Matt is cute as a button but I digress. They have a wide selection and very educated informative staff. Prices are reasonable

Saw this on their website under the page titled PHILANTHROPY: "At The Apothecarium, we take our commitment to community seriously." This means a lot to me! So when I was told they do not carry any product by a SOCIAL EQUITY GROUP I was heart broken!! We all know actions speak louder than words. If you really want to portray this business as one that cares about the community, rather than putting the energy into a response to make this company look good, take your commitment seriously and please support your community; that includes social equity brands.

Used to love it years back, now just another (kind of pricey) dispensary in a crowded market. I continue to use Apothecarium because I live nearby and they have good variety and a well-kept online menu. But their inventory management isn't the best and they'll unexpectedly be very low on, or out of a certain category. Service has gone down, you wait in lines more often, it seems. Budtender friendliness and knowledge levels are all across the board, seems to be a lot of turnover. I was unable to purchase a gift card at the holidays because no one on staff knew how to activate them, including someone they called. eye roll Several others to choose from in the neighborhood.

Such a classy spot! I'm not much of a connoisseur of marijuana, but when it's legal and a few steps from where you're staying ... it seems a shame not to visit. Lots of reviews said that the service was very slow, but that wasn't my experience. I waited less than 10 minutes to meet with my personal consultant. When I shared my inexperience with the product and described my goals, she immediately routed me to the products that made the most sense. There was no attempt to upsell or otherwise misdirect me, and that was a nice feeling! Since I'm not a local, I won't be back any time soon - but the next time I'm in San Francisco, this will be my dispensary of choice!

I was a lifetime insomniac. My doctor suggested gummies or edibles. The Apothecarium helped me so much to get the right combo. Staff is well educated and always helpful. I rarely have insomnia these days which seems miraculous. I'm 71 now and the products are a bit pricey but it's my favorite dispensary in SF. I wanted to put in a good review for Wes, their delivery employee. He's kind and always cheerful. He loves my nutty chihuahua and takes a few minutes to play. I couldn't be happier with all the choices, the staff and the deliveries. Bravo Apothecarium. Highly recommend this business.

I love this place! The atmosphere is cool and I was impressed by the customer service! Budtender Dan was soooo awesome and helped me with my apothecarium vape pen that I didn't know how to work lol. Dan made me feel assured and comfortable by sharing a similar situation he had gone through that normalized the situation for me and I really appreciated that! It was a very efficient experience and everything I needed was in stock! I would highly recommend this place and the host at front was sooooo nice as well! Delivery does not include tax. Since its cash only, its frustrating to run to the ATM for extra cash as they do not incorporate it until they send you a message that the delivery is ready. Poor delivery experience.

This is really a new experience in a city like SF. The interior is high quality and modern. They have all these cannabis products. My friend had me try some edible and I decided to check out Apothecary. I looked at their menu full of things to get. I got a gummy pack and a cookie. It was like $20 and I had $5 off first order. I just wanted to see this store and see what they offered. This supply could last 3-6 months. It's really not healthy or advisable to be into cannabis, but well, it got a hold of me. This is the type of place you should check out anyway. Instead of low-class dispensaries. At least, it's classy and normal people use it. What else do you expect from SF? Once again, I don't advise this habit. Oh well.

I really like this place when I want to take a friend visiting from out of town to a dispensary. The apothecarium has a very classy sort of boutique vibe to it. Mostly importantly they have a huge menu with tons of great products. Also I believe they breed the strain pineapple tonic, a high cbd strain, which is one of my favorites.

I've been here a few times. The staff and setting are great. Products are generally extensive. The lines move at a fairly reasonable pace. Downside: I can't get to the menu online without signing up. I get it if I needed to order and have it ready for pick up or delivery. But I really just wanted to see if a particular product was there before going in traffic to pick it up. Apothecarium - Could you please make your menu directly available without signing in?

These people run a classy joint, pun intended. From the doorman to the check in to the salespeople, everyone is super friendly and attentive. The decor is light, airy and upscale. Minus a star for the slightly high prices, definitely for people with money to burn. The big plus to me: it's one of the few clubs that accepts credit cards. There's an over 60 senior discount of 10%, and they frequently have promotions. I received a 20% off card for my next purchase for attending an educational event the Apothecarium sponsored at the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park. A good test of any business is how they handle a problem. I missed out on my senior discount recently, and when I emailed their contact it was handled quickly efficiently and kind of even over-compensated. I've been an occasional customer for several years and I will keep coming back.
