The Archway Guest House

Wonderful stay at the Archway Guest House. We were only able to stay three nights but would highly recommend it to anyone searching for a place in the area. The hosts, Anita and Dennis, were very welcoming and accommodating during our short stay, made to feel at home. The room was very comfortable, roomy and had a lovely view. The bed was comfortable and the ensuite had everything we needed. The breakfast was delicious with wonderful fresh fruit and many options for the main meal. Anita and Denis clearly enjoy being hosts and want you to enjoy your stay. They have fresh baked goods for when you arrive and lots of advice for ways to enjoy your stay. We would stay again in a "blink". Thank you and good luck for the future.

From the moment we arrived we felt welcome. Anita brought us homemade cake on arrival into our comfy room. Coffee, tea, water, cookies are all supplied in the room. Such a comfortable bed, and douvet and 3 pillows each. The towels are absorbant and thick. The breakfasts were amazing and such a lot to choose from. Better than most restaurants. You must try Dennis's scrambled eggs!! |You can use the dining room if you wish to bring your own dinner, which we did. A good place to watch the sunset over the mountains. Anita and Dennis were fantastic hosts for our three night stay in Windermere. We stayed in the Grasmere room on the second floor, and the bed was a large king. The bathroom was small but newly remodeled with a shower that had both a hand wand and overhead fixture. There was great water pressure and plenty of hot water. ||The included breakfast was fairly extensive, including various omelets, a full English breakfast, and various "loaded" bagels, including my favorite, which included cream cheese, avocado, and salmon. French toast with maple syrup for those with a sweet tooth was also available. Each morning, you could also help yourself to several juices and fresh fruit.||Anita offered great suggestions on what to see in the Lake District and helped us navigate the local bus system. She also provided recommendations for restaurants for evening meals.||If in Windermere again, we would stay at the Archway Guest House.

We had a great stay for 4 nights. Anita is a great host and does everything to make sure you have a good stay. |Especially the breakfast is fantastic, a lot of fresh fruit and the bagel with salmon, avocado and egg is great. But also the English breakfast is possible. If you want to see the lake district this is a good place to stay. The room Windermere has a fantastic shower after a day hiking 😀

The Archway was a cozy guesthouse in a beautiful location within the ‘Lake District,’ one of our favorite spots during the journey my spouse and I took in September to explore the entire island after coming from Turkey. We stayed for only one night, but we are very grateful to the host, who welcomed us warmly from the moment we arrived, treated us to banana bread, and patiently explained the surroundings. If we ever dedicate a trip solely to exploring the Lake District in the United Kingdom, we will definitely visit again.”

My Son & Myself stayed here recently after reading all the positive reviews.|Well those reviews are accurate so we made an excellent choice by choosing to stay here.|Arriving an hour earlier We were welcomed with a warm & open reception from Anita & Denis & instantly felt at home.We really can not fault anything at all about Our experience here.The twin room was immaculate & first class & the food was top notch.There is an extensive menu & the portions were generous. |It was everything & beyond what We were hoping & will most certainly return here again the next time We are at Windermere.Thankyou Anita for those chocolate muffins You kindly gave Us for Our train journey home.

Spent 2 nights at the Archway Guesthouse on a sisters’ trip to the Lake District, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Anita and Denis were warm and welcoming - you just couldn’t wish for better hosts. The rooms were comfortable and thoughtfully appointed, the breakfast delicious and the extra details - like the homemade lemon drizzle cake, generously offered and greedily accepted - just made it all the better. And when we had both an early arrival and a late departure, there was no problem with leaving our bags so that we could make the most of our time In Windermere. Highly recommended.

I always enjoy staying at Archway Guesthouse when visiting the Lakes. Anita and Denis are warm, kind and helpful hosts who go out of their way to make sure of a great visit. It's a good location in Windermere and the rooms are nicely furnished, comfortable and well kitted out. And the breakfast is excellent :)
