The Archway Museum

The Archway is a unique museum built over the interstate, telling the story of westward expansion, pioneers, railroads, and early highways in the United States. The exhibits are well designed, informative, and easy to follow. Everything is clean, well maintained, and thoughtfully done. It’s a great place to stop, stretch your legs, and learn something while traveling through Nebraska. Definitely worth a visit if you’re passing by.

Our family really enjoyed this museum. It was surprising how well done it was. We’ve driven under it several times and wished we had stopped sooner. They did a great job bringing history alive. The way that you could listen to whichever items you picked as you walked through self guided was brilliant. Even our young kids could work the individual speakers and enjoyed listening to the stories they told. We look forward to stopping on our next road trip.

By far one of the most unique museums I have ever seen. Amazing inside and learned a lot about. The interactive tour is very cool. Extremely well done. Helpful and friendly staff

This was an awesome expirence. I've pass this place a million and 2 times in 25yrs. I've been driving a semi for 28yrs. I seen the beams being set for the Archway. I always said I'd stop to see what it was all about and I finally got the opportunity. It definitely does not disappoint!

Great for Kids! We brought our seven year old children to this historic museum. They loved the audio tour and could go fast or slow. They enjoyed the second level looking over the freeway telling them if someone was speeding and how fast. Great place for a quick place to stop go to the bathroom go through the museum and get back on the road. It was bigger than we thought. It would be definitely worth the $15 per person.

They spared no expense on this museum. The diorama and displays are certainly top notch and the building itself is attractively built. However, I can't help but feel there is a missed opportunity with this roadside attraction. The emphasis is on the museum, but I think it should be on the archway itself. The nature of the building finds only one real outlet in the replica 50's diner where you can look east over the interstate through two relatively small windows. It seems to me larger picturesque windows, a glass walkway over the interstate, or a window facing west would all be much more interesting. There are plenty of pioneer museums with more artifacts, it seems like the natural thing to do is lean into the unique architecture.

As a truck driver it's not always easy to find a place to take a break or sleep. The Archway is a great place to to stop. There is truck car and RV parking available. The Archway has lots of things to see on the outside and inside. Unfortunately I didn't have time to tour the inside of the attraction. I enjoyed the sculptures and history information with the time I had.

I have driven past here multiple times (not the 1,000 that their t-shirts state), and finally had the time to stop in and check it out. I was not expecting it to be very much, but I was very pleasantly surprised! There is an entire museum in the archway detailing the westward expansion. Each person is given a speaker to listen to at their own pace. I found it to be very informative as well as a nice break in the long drive from Iowa to Colorado. I would absolutely recommend stopping here if you haven't already!

I've driven past The Archway more times than I can count, and every single time it's a moment of "I've made it to Kearney!" It's one of those landmarks that immediately catches your eye and gives you that sense of arrival. Even though I haven't had the chance to go inside yet, the view of the arch from the highway is absolutely stunning, especially when the light hits it just right. I can already tell that the next time I'm in town, I'll definitely be stopping in to explore what's inside. If the exterior is this impressive, I can only imagine what the inside has to offer.

I truly appreciate the Lincoln Highway exhibit, which includes the iconic 1773 Road Mileage sign. My grandparents managed the Shady Nook Truck Stop in the late 1930's, adjacent to the 1773 Ranch and car campground.

This was the best tourist stop I've ever chanced! I like to try any tourist stop I can at least once, with many disappointing me. However, the Great Platte River Road Archway Musuem was A MUST SEE!! Prepare to spend at least an hour here! Each ticket is about $30, so I honestly think it's not worth it if you don't take advantage of the entire experience and it WILL be over an hour for the entire thing! There's 50 pre-recorded audio sessions you listen to on a little device that looks like a remote that hangs off your neck. It goes through the history of the famous Westward Expansion. From start to finish, it was epic. I'm not a history buff, but they made this attraction so stimulating and exciting that I listened to every word. If you have children, it might be hard for them to follow along the entire time so I definitely recommend this stronger towards adult groups. This rest stop was pretty nice as well, for stopping purposes! The outside scenery was pretty, the building's presentation was nice, the bathrooms were decent, and plenty of parking! If you're into geo caching, they have a couple at this location.

Let me just start off by saying the Oregon Trail PC game was the first game I ever played on a computer in the 90s, and it was my favorite! To finally have an in depth lesson on what it was truly like for these pioneers was plain awesome. Who knew there was more to learn than just dying of dysentery?! My expectations for this place was super low because it looks like your ordinary tourist trap, but I really was blown away at how cool this audio tour was. One of the best parts was getting to radar vehicles on the interstate below lol. Highly recommend.

A quick stop to stretch legs and check out the outdoor sculptures. There are several and a walking bridge across the street with a path. We did not go in - literally followed the path , checked out sculptures and went to find food and gas. Note neither are close to this stop/exit.

If you're from Nebraska and travel anywhere west, odds are you've driven under this archway and thought "oh we should stop!" And by that time it's too late. Well after 30 years of driving under we finally stopped to tour the arch It was actually very fun and informative. If you're a Yellowstone or 1883 tv show fan this is right up your alley. You start with an escalator ride up to the top listening to story's on your device and then you can enjoy many stories as your tour the arch. We made it through in about 45 minutes. My kids even enjoyed it! Pricing for 2022 is $15 per adult, and kids 5 and under are free! There is also discounted pricing for seniors. Definitely worth a stop ONCE in your life.

The Great Platte River snakes and undulates it's way along the highways and byways of Nebraska like a watershed that will not quit. At some point after Kearney, Nebraska (road warrior that I am, and probably the most well driven Yelper! around..) there is a giant overpass that at first looks like it was dropped across the road by NASA or was built but early 1800 settlers. It's a giant walkable bridge over the Route 80 causeway and has turrets on both sides. Some where on the South side, or even inside the turret, there's an elaborate westward-HO type travel museum with exhibitions on westward Expansion and MANIFEST DESTINY! There are Prairie Schooners, chuck wagons and shows on Indian removal. Atop the side-turrets of this ornate and elaborate foot bridge sit two silver, metal-welded Eagles that are perched on the overpass like gargoyles on the Notre Dame Cathedral.. it is fun and educational to visit, nice to see passing under; or a fantastic place to make a family stop on a long road trip. Nice self guided tour with individual audio boxes/headphones. We spent about an hour, but could do more. Workers were helpful and friendly. For $15 each adult worth a stop. Huge gift shop, clean restrooms and a nice walking sculpture path.

Really nice place. Provides a great historical guide through time from the frontier migration west to the modern-day American road trip. Very enlightening, enjoyable and educational. The self guided tour with the headset is something I don't see alot of, great idea.

Traveling across the US in our Rv. Got here a few mins before 5 pm. Staff was extremely polite. Was too late for a tour but was able to browse gift shop and purchase some snacks and gifts. Very interesting? Hope to be back to take that tour. They allow overnight parking so we also stayed the night. Thank you for everything !

The Great Platte River Road Archway is built over I-80 - it actually spans the interstate. The museum offers self-guided tours using audio headsets keyed to numbered tags located throughout the museum. It traces the movement of the pioneers and their migrations along the Oregon, Mormon and California trials. The timeline starts with the earliest pioneers and leads up thru the development of the telegraph, the railroad and eventually the interstate highway system. The actual history is a little light and seems a bit watered down but would be great for families with young children. To cover all of the approximately 50 audio recordings you will need to allow an hour to an hour and a half. I think this museum would appeal to all ages. Different age groups will have different "takeaways" and different information will appeal to different people but there's something for everyone. One note of caution -- there is no food available at the museum - i.e. there is no snack bar or dining options on-site.

This place is very kid friendly and a great off the highway stop to get the kids out. This archway was very thoughtfully made. Happy we made the sop

A great stop and history of the trail. Came years ago and nothing like it is today. Great improvement. Worth the admission. A break from the drive.

I have driven under this museum multiple times (and pulled over for speeding right in front of it) but never gone in until this weekend. We arrived thirty minutes before they closed but the staff was still really friendly and walked us through the audio guides. The museum is pretty comprehensive with a good overview of the settlement history along with the development of the west. That's pretty much where the story starts with little Native American history other than helping settlers. That was a big miss in my book.

If you're passing through I-80 from Denver to Omaha or visa versa, you must stop and visit the Great Platte River Road Archway. Inside this beautiful Archway is a museum of history of how early settlers traveled from the Midwest to California. Kearney, Nebraska is a historic town because of the hospitality they showed towards the courageous pioneers who were traveling to the West.

I think this is such a cool and unique tourist/historical attraction. I've stopped here a few times on road trips. Once, we went through the tour and gift shop. The tour comes with audio headsets and its self paced, so we were able to move along and see what we wanted to in the amount of time we had. It was really enjoyable and we learned a lot about the history and development of the area. I've also stopped a couple times just to get out and stretch our legs and walk the dog. There's a nice river walking/biking trail that has some historical markets and pretty views. I've also seen people fishing from the bridge across from the archway. And, on my last visit we went into the maze, which was fun. I'd recommend the stop if you are in the area, it's interesting, reasonably priced and helps break up a long road trip. They also offer a military discount for the tour.

This was such a cool museum of how our ancestors travelled out west and moved through the era into present day. The kids had fun learning. I like how you move at your own pace and hear stories using your own listening device.

This was our first visit here after passing under the archway for years now. It was a very easily sled guided tour. We were told it would take about 35 minutes to go through it all. After almost 2 hours were approached the end. We did however read about all the boards and signs everywhere along the path through a wonderful walk of Nebraska and pioneer trail history. We would have to say this is a must see Ali g the way of traveling on interstate 80

Even if you are passing through outside of "open" hours, stop here for a stretch. We spent 45 minutes wandering around the various sculptures at the building, and across the walking bridge. An excellent place to let the kids get out the wiggles, even if you don't go inside!

I made a pit stop here as I was curious about this archway. On the outside it looks good and inside it is a museum that explains the history of Nebraska which is cool. It has a self guided audio tour. You have to enter the number thst is shown on the tag. There is a scanner as well you can do to listen. I like wax figures and it is very detailed. I spent 1 hour and admission is 12 dollars. It was a fun stop and glad i did it

Worth a stop once off I-80. Small children under 12 will not enjoy. Great history of travel in US from early times till current. Your wear a headset telling the story at yoir pace....one hour mimum needed. Very nice restrooms! Pricy. Large parking lot.

This is a great place to stop while traveling through Nebraska. I always look forward to seeing it as I know my travel destination is not much further . Going in their is a long elevator that takes you up to the top . Each room is decorated per history and you wear headphones that will give you the information. When you get to the center there is a small window you can look out and watch the interstate traffic . I highly recommend for a quick stop to stretch your legs !

7/22 This museum is really fascinating. We walked in and this "prospector" walked up to us and asked us where we were from. He's a great greeter! He really fit the part. My son was thrilled because he was going to get to take a long escalator ride. It's a self-guided audio tour. There are badges all over that you can scan to give you information about what you're seeing. It starts out a little slow with exhibits about the prairies and the hard times everyone was having getting across the country. I really liked the letters from people left behind as "warnings" to those heading west for the gold rush, like take this way or don't take this way. Turns out people back then could be just as greedy as some of us today. I really liked that you could physically touch things or at least approach them and not be forced to stand behind Plexiglas or some other barrier. It made it really interactive and fun. The second level is about the highway system and I found that much more fascinating since we are definitely a road trip family. There are two escalators or an elevator to bring you back down to return the equipment and there is a nice gift shop. The staff was really friendly. There is a bit to see outside, too. My son and my husband went through the maze. Really great find and a great learning experience. My son has already asked if we can go back to the "scanning museum". :)

This museum needs to be advertised more. It is spectacular! We got there just in time before they locked the doors and they did allow us to take our time. I had no idea how spectacular it is! The have recreated the Oregon trail in a way to help you imagine what the people went through and it finishes with the railroad, drive-in movie, and 50's diner. The also give you a player to listen to as you go through. There are over 30 segments! My only complaint was that we couldn't find every numbered segment and I did get a bit tired of listening toward the end. My favorite part was going up the entrance through the covered wagon, seeing the pioneers on either side. So very glad we finally went!

Good break in a road trip. Nice grounds to walk around. It needs a cafe. Decent prices for a museum. Staff was friendly and let us stay past the closing time to finish our tour. You will learn about the morman trail, 49rs, and the Oregon trail as well as the transcontinental railway and Lincoln highway.

This is a really interesting stop on your journey through Nebraska. The "bridge" which is actually a museum spans across the highway, and you can even look out the window at the cars below --along with a radar detector that shows you how fast everybody is going. Lol. The museum tells the tale of westward expansion - mainly that of the trails and then the railroad and then highways. The wax figures are really interesting, they bring the story to life for all the scenes that they portray. There's audio accompaniment to help explain things as you go through the museum. The staff is very helpful. Outside of the museum there's a very beautiful walking trail and on the trail you will find a re-created sod house so you can kind of get an idea of how difficult and how simple the people lived as they were migrating to the west living in the great plains where there aren't a lot of trees they had to be creative when making their homes. If you're in town for this stop by also recommend that you go to Fort Kearny and there's also a Trails Rails Museum in the city as well. (Forgive my run-on sentences!)

It's okay to see once, but after that it's boring. I wish they would switch the exhibit up once in a while. They also definitely need to add on and have a nice Nebraska style sit down restaurant with grass fed beef, deer and bison steaks. I believe if they do that, they could definitely bring in a bigger revenue.

Great stop to break up a day driving! This was one long day of driving among many on a cross-country road trip. On this day we started in Des Moines and ended in Laramie, covering half of Iowa, all of Nebraska, and some of Wyoming in between. Did we ever need a nice stop to break up all that driving! And the museum delivered. It looks cool from the road but there's so much more content inside than you'd expect from just driving under/past it. It's a large, high-tech, well-done museum on the history of American road travel, particularly in that region. Starting with the pioneers, right up through the advent of the modern interstate. It was interactive and engaging, and a perfect break for our bodies and minds from the monotony of the drive. We also did the maze on the grounds, and walked out on the little bridge and fed the fish in the river - you can buy fish food from dispensers on the bridge. Museum tickets cost $12 for adults. Well worth it IMO. Other attractions on the grounds, like the maze, were free.

Excellent educational museum. Well produced, well made, well operated - well worth the trip. Drove past about 20 times before ever stopping - and it was MUCH more than I expected. I guess if there's a criticism, it is that they don't market themselves very well - because I expected almost nothing. Boy was I surprised. The art direction is first-rate; the recreations, murals, figures and life-size displays are worthy of any great natural history museum or the Smithsonian. This place celebrates the Oregon Trail, California Trail, Mormon Trail, Lincoln Highway, transcontinental railway and the pony express, all of which intersected here. The grounds out front are very nice and well kept. There is a walking/bike trail along a river across a walking bridge just outside the entrance. Inside, there is a theater, gift shop and expansive lobby. A life-size diorama of western emigrants on either side of a two-store escalator dominates the expansive entryway. There is a fee (about $12 when we visited, I think), but well worth it. Admission comes with a headset and educational soundtrack. The soundtrack is triggered electronically at points along the exihibit, and there are bonus tracks that you can listen to by entering numbers on your set, or bumping up against electronic triggers posted by number at places of interest in the exhibit. Enjoy!

Worth the stop!! It's great, entertaining educational experience. Self-guides tour let's you go at your own pace. The teenagers enjoyed it!

I am so neutral about the Archway Monument. As I drive back to visit family, the I-80 drive between Colorado and Nebraska has become a normal venture. More curiosity than hype brought me to visit for the first time. I just had to stop and see what this monstrosity landmark building bridging over the Interstate was all about. The history and tour was actually very interesting. Being from Nebraska, I already was spoon fed this information and continued on. As for visitors, travelers and the other curious passer-byes, I'm sure this stop was much more an event for them than I. What I really wished to see more of was the experience of being in a building that sat above the Interstate. What a really cool concept? A building over a busy Interstate. Not just a bridge, but a building. I was really excited to sit and count cars, wave at the semis, wait for a Volkswagen Beetle to drive by so I could slug my girlfriend. Nope!! There is only one stinking window with a radar gun that didn't even work pointing down at traffic. What a waste of a great experience. Where else can you be in a building above an Interstate? None that I know of in the United States at least. I think the designers missed big time on this opportunity. Maybe a renovation idea?? Think about it. A glass box restaurant above the Interstate! EVERYONE WOULD STOP FOR THAT!! Please send design idea and large check or cash to Andrew Wright, Denver, CO. Just sayin'.

Though it will come as no surprise to native Nebraskans, this is the geographic center of the US. The museum has good waxworks and dioramas, even better live characters, an excellent audiotour create an interactive lesson in American history and culture. Nice outdoor paths, too. BTW, where did Mark Twain not go? (It seems he has preceded us to California, Hawaii, and every place else, by freaking stage coach!) Back then it took 3 weeks to get from Missouri to Sacramento and cost $500, then came rail which took 10 days and cost $50. Based on what we learned here, we got off I-80 and drove home on the Lincoln Highway, apparently the original auto route between NY and Sacramento for people wanting to see the US by car. It was a good experience, no construction, no "screaming road," every 10 miles or so a small town with a grain elevator, Sinclair gas station, bar, and beauty shop. Want to go back to Grand Island and to Columbus and explore.

Totally awesome museum dedicated to America. The museum is inside of a bridge that goes across I-80. Its only for people. So don't worry about getting ran over. The museum takes you through the early history of America and our culture of driving. It's neat to see the random things on how traveling culture developed and how we travel in cars today. Take a break on your long drive and check it out.

Decided to stop in on our way from Omaha to Denver. As the other reviewers have mentioned, this is a museum spanning over the highway detailing the plight westward, starting with covered wagon trains, to train, to cars. The staff was attentive and very friendly. You have headphones that provide a dialogue of the different exhibits. It was actually quite interesting (maybe not for our 7 year old) and definitely worth the break from the road. Overall it was an interesting way to spend 30-60 minutes, and definitely should be a stop on a family road trip.

While looking for a quick stop to stretch and use the bathroom on our road trip we picked here and I am glad that we did. The outside is amazing enough. It is awesome to see the bridge with all of its colorful panels going over the highways. Outside around the bridge is some pioneer items such as a wagon which provide great photo opportunities. There are also statues out there and walking area. We skipped the walking area since we were on a tight timeline and it was very hot. When we got in were were greeted right away and everyone was very kind. We opted not to do the tour being that this was meant to be a quick stop but we walked around their store. the store was pretty typical. There was a really cool vintage coke machine that you can put $1 in change into and get a small glass bottle of coke. I loved that! There were also these great oversized rocking horses that we were able to sit on and take our pictures. A great way to pretend to be a kid again. Even though we did not do the museum tour, it is still a great stop. Yes, this is touristy, but who cares? When you need a break from a long boring drive since there isn't anything to do in Nebraska this is a great stop and I highly suggest it. You can even go to the firefighters museum downt the street if this does not occupy you for long enough.

I finally took the opportunity to visit the Archway about a week and a half before Christmas when I was in the area. It was almost empty during the middle of the day I visited so I pretty much had the place to myself. It's huge inside and quite engaging if you love history. The lighting is a bit dark so it's like entering a cave except, instead of going downward, you step up on an extremely long, steep escalator. There were a lot of replicas (think of the wax museum) of the early pioneers in historical clothing, wagons, and other items that they used at the time. It was very interesting. Because they were no major historical figures and certaintly no rich, famous elites there is no one area or figure that is a landmark or towers above the others as a go-to spot. It has a wonderful souvenior shop and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They definitely helped make my experience memorable! The admission fee of $12 for adutls was a little steep in my opinion. I think $8 would have been a good fee but presumably they have to pay operating costs year-round even when there are few tourists so they charge more than expected to cover that. Outside, the grounds contains sculptures of buffalo, an enclosing walking maze for the kids, a walking bridge across the Platte River, and a sod house which is fun to visit, especially for the kids. It's great for taking pics not to mention the good physical exericise you get walking to grounds. It's also wheelchair accessible. Additionally, there is an adjacent walking/hiking trail that extends for miles into town extending from two different directions. It would be awesome during the short spring or short fall season in Nebraska to explore the Archway's grounds and adjacent trails. Any other time in NE the weather is extremely hot or extremely cold and can be very uncomfortable. I know from experience. Going inside the Arch which has A/C on a hot summer day has to be one of the best things if you're in the area from June-Aug. I didn't take pics of the grounds because since it was winter, the grass and foliage was brown, dead, ugly and it would have done a disservice to the arch which is really nice inside.

This monument is an example of don't gauge the book by its cover.. it appears to be just another structure that's built over I-80.. but it actually has a very cool audio-visual tour (inside) about emigrants (yes, that's an actual spelling) traveling Oregon, California and Utah trails back in the 19th century.. the tour starts on one side of the freeway and ends on the other.. since I'm driving (granted leisurely and in an air conditioned car, not wagons) from Pittsburgh to Oregon, I really really enjoyed the tour and historical lessons.. I highly recommend it !

If you are cruisin on I-80 (hauling ass across the Great Plains) near Kearney, Nebraska, and see this huge arch across the freeway you might be prompted to say: looks like the mother of all tourist traps. But amazingly it isn't. It's a very cool, interesting museum, somewhat high tech, in the archway! They have a number of exhibits inside that not only are educational but fun. There is a series of exhibits that proceed in chronological order. One exhibit, a sort of diorama if you will, is of a drive in movie site. Right there is this cool '61 Cadillac convertible! Well worth the entry fee. On the way there stop at a rest area with a Nebraska info. station and you can get a coupon for some $ off the entry fee. A nice break from the monotony of I-80. Even better yet check out one of Nebraska parks. I'm a fan of the Sand Hills area.

I really didn't know what I'd find inside this mammoth structure that spans I-80, just outside of Kearney, NE. I thought it would be some kind of hokey museum, filled with displays of old wagon wheels and vintage pioneer junk. Yeah, there's some of that stuff to be seen, but the self-guided tour takes you through the history of the Western Expansion in a very unique and interesting way. I was impressed. My pioneer ancestors came to Nebraska in the late 1800's, by covered wagon, and actually lived in a sod house (or soddy) until the late 1930's. This terrific interactive museum gave me a real sense of what it was like for them to make that trek and provided a great history lesson about the experiences of those who ventured on to Utah, Oregon or California. However, the best thing about the Archway Monument had to be the good folks who work there. I was greeted at the door by an Old West character who clearly takes his role seriously--he had some impressive whiskers. After crossing the Platte River via footbridge, I discovered a real Pawnee hogan. The communal house is an awesome structure, and the young docent working inside was extremely enthusiastic and informative. If you ever find yourself in this corner of Nebraska, cruising down I-80, the Archway is definitely worth a stop.

I was in Nebraska for a funeral and was hoping to give the trip a happy memory too. So I went to my '1000 things to see before you die - US and Canada version' and flipped it open to Nebraska. Sadly, I had just missed crane season, but the next thing on the list was the monument. Turns out even the locals hadnt seen it - and we had 2 little ones in our group so it seemed family friendly. It was a cold and windy day, but we bundled up and headed over. Upon entry, we were greeted by a wild haired cowboy with a rustic sense of humor, who directed us to the counter to buy our tickets. We returned to him and his helpers got us set with our audio tour getup and a photo op before we went up the escalator into a different time. We learned of the first settlers and the paths they took. We saw cabins and tents and wagons and so many fabulous things from the period. We went up another level and were transported into a newer time, one with cars and cottages and diners. In the diner you can actually look outside and see the big rigs flying at you at 70 mph... talk about a culture clash! It was great fun, a learning experience and something you can do in just a few short hours. I'm with the book though, a must-see before you die. Im so glad that I did!

Don't be fooled by the size of the place from the outside. What an unexpected gem! A fun, engaging and educational museum. Spectacular displays and worth the stop.

Stopped through to finally see this museum after driving under it quite a few times driving back-and-forth it was so good for all ages the boys which are young under the age of 12 loved it the 16-year-old loved it and the adults loved it so much information showing you how America has transitioned from the early ages on. The Oregon trail and the Indians. Very reasonably priced. Will definitely be visiting again.

Driven by it many times. Finally decided to stop and check it out. It was much better than I anticipated. The history of settlers moving west, building of the transcontinental RR and the interstate highway system were very interesting and informative. The no charge headphones really make the museum displays come alive. Highly recommend a visit. Plan on 1.5 to 2 hours.

The Great Platte River Road Archway Monument is a neat place along, or should I say above I-80 in Kearney. I did feel though that the admission of $25 total for me and my wife was a bit steep considering the entire tour only takes about 45 minutes, according to Monument staff. The main exhibits here are about the Westward expansions and the Lincoln Highway/I-80. There are also activities outside to do like feeding fish and a huge maze. All in all it was a fun time, I just thought the price for admission was too steep for no more than was there.

Absolutely fantastic and highly recommend! Everything about this stop was fantastic. Staff was kind and knowledgeable. Great value for the money and super cute gift shop. Admission includes headset audio tour. My 10 year old daughter loved it and as she put it she "doesn't even like learning"!

Wanted to stop here about 9 years ago - I was out numbered by 3 to 1! However, this trip there were just 2 of us, me and my dad. It was interesting, I had come down in the hotel and he was sharing with me about this bridge up the road about 90 miles that some people had told him about that morning. I ask, it the bridge over a river or something? He wasn't sure much more than that. At that point I had forgot about the bridge that we had passed under so long ago. I was surprised to see the bridge that I wanted to check out before. This time it was his idea so of course we stopped. I would agree it's a bit of a tourist trap - food is served there but on the higher cost side. We tend not to eat in these places so I can't comment on good the food is. The bridge is actually a museum that is self-guided tour that takes you through the history of settling the west. It is worth the time and cost $12 adults / $10 seniors.
