The Arden Hotel

Fantastic experience. Was attending a one day meeting and evening meal. Staff were friendly and proffesional throughout the day - regular check ins and coffee tops - much appreciated. Buffet lunch was great - the soup & buffet fish & chips were just what was needed. The location, opposite the theatre makes for the perfect stay in Stratford. Again our evening meal was great. The team looking after us where attentive and not intrusive. The suggestions, quality and varity of food and wine options for such a large party made this a memorable day and a venue I look forward to visiting again.

This is a great hotel, lovely room, huge bed, clean with tea/coffee making facilities. Staff very attentive... Breakfast was really lovely, everything so nice. Evening theatre break 3 course meal lovely.. Central location to theatre and town. We did a guided walk too which was so educational definitely worth doing. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Had Afternoon Tea on Fri 19/12 for our 55th (Emerald) wedding anniversary. Booked at very short notice in person with a really friendly female staff member. On arrival met by staff and escorted to our seat. From this time onwards my wife and I could not have wished for more from the staff. They were more than attentive and could not have made our experience any better. A big thank you to the staff

The staff at The Arden treated us like royalty; nothing was too much trouble. Every member of staff was polite, friendly and did their jobs with a smile, efficiency and obvious pride. We spent three days at the hotel over Christmas and we had the best time. We had gone just a few miles to the Arden Hotel because we needed a rest and didn't want the effort of planning, buying, cooking and washing up. The food was excellent and it never seemed to stop being served. Even the dog was given special attention, having received gifts as we arrived and being spoiled with a sausage for breakfast each day. Our fellow guests seemed to be of the same mind, that the Arden Hotel is definitely a place to spend time relaxing and the place to be for a quick sprint over the road to the RSC theatre. This is a fabulous hotel and we went on the theatre break weekend. All the staff are very helpful. We had requested a quiet room but the Robinia room in the main building is above a function room and you could hear loads of noise and voices. Fortunately the hotel were able to move us to the Laburnum room towards the very back of the hotel which was much quieter. You could hear people above walking around, so would probably request a room on the 2nd floor above next time. The room amenities in a superior room are very well stocked and of good quality.||The hotel is right opposite the RSC so in a great location. The lounge areas and dining room are lovely and the service is fantastic. The Grinch cocktail was delicious!||The only criticism would be the 5% service charge on top of the bill which you can ask to be removed. It’s another stealth tax and has migrated from America. We feel it’s the responsibility of the hotel to pay the staff and not the guests, after all we have already paid the bill to stay.||The staff are fabulous, so a big thank you to them all.

Love this beautiful hotel, perfect location opposite the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and easy walking distance from the centre of Stratford upon Avon. Very convenient location, large car park, very helpful staff. Special mention to Peter on Reception for warm welcome and helpfulness. Clean, comfortable with everything you need. Only need to be a bit wary of the varying levels, due to its history and location. Rooms are reached by several sets of stairs and there is no lift other than a platform lift from reception to restaurant (which is also street level).

We had a wonderful time celebrating Christmas day at the Arden. The welcome, service, food, organisation and friendliness of staff was faultless. Sai and his team have done a brilliant job and helped make our Christmas extra special. A big thank all the staff who worked so hard to make the day so special.

I had the pleasure of dining at The Arden, along with friends, to celebrate my sisters 70th birthday. The food was exquisite and the service exemplary. Our waiter for the evening was Jamie who was attentive but not overly so. He made us all feel very welcome and was on hand to take photographs and to ensure that we had an enjoyable, as well as memorable evening. When I am next in Stratford upon Avon I will definitely be booking with them again. Thank you for making our visit extra special.

It is a nice hotel with really good service and accommodations. We stayed in a room with a king or queen size bed. It was a good size, and the bathroom was really nice with handheld shower head extension and a nice sink. The only downside was that the bath was only half enclosed, so it is really easy for water to get on the floor. The refrigerator was really small and wasn't kept very cold. Breakfast was really nice. It's slightly pricey but nice. We purchased a full English breakfast. Everything was really good. It was but pricey overall and they added more because we had our son. Another downside is bringing your luggage in and out. It was not easy going up and down stairs with 20-25 kg bags. There are no elevators.

I loved it! We stayed for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The location is perfect if you are attending a play at the Royal Shakespeare Theater (across the street) and it is just a block off the main road so quiet - but close to everything. The staff were ALL so professional and very helpful with anything we needed. The room was fabulous and had modern amenities - including a large bathroom and shower. We had breakfast in the restaurant both mornings which was delightful. We stopped at the hotel bar each evening for a night cap after being out on the town. I would highly recommend it!

We're staying here for one night only. Positives: 1. Toilet seat, just right, for small butts! 2. Magnifying glass in bathroom. 3. Room & bed adequate for 2 people. 4. Free Wi-Fi really fast! 5. Restaurant & bar, fabulous. 6. Front desk service. 7. FREE Cotswold chocolates, also provided in your room along with tea & coffee. They even filled my Contigo hot drink holder! 8. Lots of buffet breakfast selections. 9. Hot foods in the menu. 10. Lots of staff avail. to help. 11. View to the garden, from our bedroom. 12. Able to open windows for some fresh air. Negatives: 1. Bathroom too dark to put makeup, even with magnifying mirror a plus, but you can't see. 2. Drapes lining all ripped. 3. Seat cushions too low, padding worn out? I put a pillow on, but still too low for the desk. 4. Stairs not handicapped access. 5. Even though we've closed the windows by the time we went out for dinner, the room, was still cold, even the sheets were cool after sleeping a good night sleep (for me). So, it must be a perfect temperature, since I slept the longest from this hotel!

I visited here while strolling here for lunch. My prior visit had been over 10 years ago for a wedding when it was still known as The Thistle. It's a great location for pre-theater dinner as it's directly across from the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. If you stay overnight, you may find yourself in the breakfast room with an actor or two from the prior night's performance. At lunch they offer a fixed price menu with 1, 2, or 3 courses. I selected 2 courses. The first course was a chicken and mushroom terrine; the second, a bream. There was a good selection of wines to accompany the meal. The food was nicely presented and prepared perfectly. Service was attentive without being cloying. Quiet ambience was appreciated after a day of tourist activities.

Nice hotel with good sized rooms and fine amenities. It is a bit of a maze to get to the rooms. The keys - old fashioned, not key cards - come on a large key chain with your room name, no numbers here. This is quaint but a bit of a problem for toting around. Guess you could ask the front desk to hold it for you when you go out. The location is fantastic, right across the street from The Royal Shakespeare Theater. Breakfast was mixed. We ordered omelettes which were very good but the breakfast buffet was disappointing. The one irritating thing that happened was that upon check in they asked if we wanted a newspaper and which one, they made is seem like it was complementary - it wasn't. They asked for payment upon check-out. I told them that it wasn't explained that there was a charge - not much just one pound. They could have bought themselves a bunch of good will by waiving the pound but they didn't. Too bad.
