This was included in my ticket to the archbishop's palace, cathedral, and treasury. I am glad it was because it magnified the already great return on investment. The artifacts begin with the Vikings, with displays of axes, swords, spearheads, etc. Continuing on, it goes through the Middle Ages with an immense display of swords, suits of armor, handcannons, and other weaponry. All of this took place on the first floor of the museum. Just this floor made the time worth it, but it only got better. The next floor was all about WW1 and WW2. The number of guns, uniforms, propaganda posters, mortars, and machine guns was incredible. It was fantastically done, and you were able to learn an enormous amount about Norway's involvement in WW2. There was a lot of readable information that was interesting and informative. But, there were some (a lot) really bad typos in the English. You could still read it, but a lot of them were pretty funny. I'd 100% recommend a visit here, whether you both the combined ticket or not.

Loved the exhibition and especially the staff of the museum (thanks Jens!), it was awesome to chat about Norway history. The WWII part of the exhibition is especially interesting, with a lot of amazing (and largely unknown) detail.

Really good historic museum. It starts with the viking age and goes on until 2. WW and now. I learned a lot between the Norwegian Swedish conflicts. It’s interesting to see how independent Norway always has been. Appreciate the English translations as well! Unfortunately my card payment didn’t work, but the service people were so friendly and let me in for free!

The Armoury is situated next to the cathedral in Trondhein and is extremely interesting and informative. It has many displays describing events as far back as the viking times up to actions in both world wars. Nearly all of the displays have English translation as well. It's definitely worth a visit if you have the time.

The military history of Norway is presented in a balanced way from its Viking roots through combined Kingdom with Denmark to the complexities of WWII Nazi occupation vs. the Resistance coordinated by King Haakon VII from London. There are many exhibits where touch is allowed and encouraged including handling of swords, musket, clothing, and artillery pieces.

Highly recommended for history lovers. This museum has a fascinating and touchy history of Norway during world wars. They have a collection of weapons and model war planes at their exhibition. You can buy items of your choice at their mini store.
