OMG, I enjoyed my early Saturday morning pop in to The Art We Are Cafe in Kamloops. A relaxing cafe that offers organic options of tea, coffee and food. Dietary and vegan options available. Spacious seating and various art to appreciate.

Super cozy little café. The food was delicious and I had the gluten-free vegan chocolate brownie and it was amazing tasting. The hot chocolate with oatmilk was really good too. They have lots of good food options but I went in for a sweet little treat. It's really nice having places that accommodate different dietary restrictions and this is one of them.

I have been to the art we are a lot, as I use to work downtown. It’s been a little time but I didn’t expect much to change. To my surprise the prices changed and the portions. I asked for the quiche with no side assuming I wouldn’t be charged the full price however I was !! 15.75 after tax’s When I sat at the table and opened the box I laughed and showed my friends I was with what I paid for and they both were in shock. The smallest slice of quiche and the thinnest. I am not use to this from the art we are but this made me change my opinion and perspective of this cafe. I would have been alright with paying 10$ maybe for this as I didn’t get the side. And the lady at the till did not inform Me there wasn’t a change in price as I paid for everyone’s stuff this day. I find this practice to be greedy and gross, it’s simple to add a quiche only price and have that at a comfortable price that isn’t only gauging the customer. I understand food prices have gone up and obviously labour cost as well. But 15.75 I could buy two quiche at Costco for this price. Sadly I’ll be going to other cafes in town with fair prices.

Such a beautiful cafe. Always love their Mocha and sandwiches. They combine their sandwiches with soups which are so delicious. Recently had their coconut lentil soup turkey sandwich and I recommend it to everyone! It’s a good portion too!

We were driving through Kamloops and Read reviews about gluten free options so found our way there. It is located down town with metered parking which was limited but we found a spot on a Wednesday. The cafe has ample seating inside and some outside as well. No wifi was available and only one bathroom for everyone that had long waits. There was lots of art and jewelry on display and for purchase. They had a water station which was handy. There were quite a few gluten free options for lunch and or breakfast. I ordered the quiche with salad and my husband had broccoli cheddar soup which came with corn bread and a spanakopita. All was flavorful. I ordered a large haystack cookie for the road which was very good. It’s nice to have a place that provides gf and vegan options as well as regular items.

Google
My favourite cafe in Kamloops. It is a must-stop for tourists & students. There is a lot of locally made art, jewelry, & gifts which are worth taking the time to look at. Large selection on the menu for sandwiches, paninis, etc. Coffee is always good & service is always friendly.

Google
What a gem in Kamloops. This was a fantastic spot for fresh vegan and vegetarian food on our road trip. The tofu salad with a savory sauce was delicious. Lovely community art gallery and a great place to pick up a local souvenir and support small artists. What a gem of a place. -1* for the plastic. Loved the salads and would love them even more if they came in better packaging with less plastic

Yelp
I really wanted to like this coffee shop since it's so cute but unfortunately, I found the food and coffee really lacking. In my opinion, the spanikopita was a bland and the coffee very mediocre. For the price, I was expecting something a better. Despite this, I find the ambiance of the space really nice and cozy, and the staff are nice. I also appreciate that it features local artists and enjoy perusing the gallery walls.

Yelp
Great service! One of the best iced matcha latte's I've had (if you like it milky and slightly sweet)! I had a very delicious and filling salad with lots of leafy greens, carrots, chickpeas, candied pecans, & a green cumin-forward dressing. Perfect meal to beat the heatwave. It was nice reading about how they source their ingredients locally and form working relationships with their vendors. There's patio seating at the front, most patrons seemed to like sitting at the indoor tables at the front but I was able to find a cozy and isolated corner facing two very private booths. Pandemic or not, appreciate the many cozy corners one can find in their layout. Some local crafts and art sold in the store. The lady lining up behind me said she usually gets their tofu salad bowl so am guessing that one's one of their hits as well. Heard their spanakopita is good so hoping to take one on the road with me when I head back to Vancouver.

Yelp
Decent food and drinks, lacking some flavors. Love the seating inside and outside. Fun little place.

Yelp
Perfect cafe. Large inside with artsie display and merchandise. Nice smaller outside seating with little birdie on ground entertaining us. Muffin excellent. Press coffee excellent.

Yelp
I love this place. The staff are so lovely, great place to get little trinkets for buddies too. Good amount of seating and just good vibes. Coffee has great selection and taste!

Yelp
This is the closest thing to a vegetarian restaurant we're going to get in Kamloops. While they do serve some food with meat in it, the vast majority of things you can eat here are vegetarian or vegan friendly. The Art We Are is my absolute favourite place to go when I'm looking for a bowl of hot soup on a cold day. All of their soups are made fresh daily and there are always three or four options to choose from. So far my favourite would have to be the potato-broccoli-cheddar soup but I would happily settle for any of their heavy vegetable ones as well. All of the soup is served with delicious homemade cornbread. They also have a great selection of coffees and teas. My personal favourite would have to be their cherry tea latte. It's a great place to grab a coffee with a friend. I haven't had the chance to check out any of their events yet but The Art We Are is also known for having some great live music and poetry slam nights. We are definitely lucky to have a place like this in Kamloops.

Yelp
This is a very unique place. I think its a great addition to the downtown. I really like the ambiance. I really like the menu. I really like the soup. I had Broccoli and Cheese soup today. I know they have a lot of entertainment also. I did not check out the craft section, but its worth checking out for gift shopping. I think we are very lucky to have so many great choices of places to eat in such a little city. I am a big fan of this place !

Yelp
The vegan options here allow me to pretend like I make good choices all the time, when in fact I really just come here to make myself feel better after a steak. The chocolate-quinoa cake keeps me coming back, as do the friendly staff, artsy atmosphere and the way they promote the hell out of local art, talent and businesses. A proud landmark of this lovely small town. The only thing I dislike is the sludge-like coffee they serve. I understand Kicking Horse is relatively local (Rocky Mountain) and organic, but it leaves much to be desired and pairs poorly with the great baked goods TAWA produces.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place! I visit at least once or twice a week when I can, to have a hot delicious lunch. There is always a selection of 5 or 6 soups/stews/chilis each day, with most being gluten-free/dairy-free or vegan. You can even get gluten-free cornbread with your meal! They also have a yummy selection of salads, wrap, and sandwiches... as well as cookies, cakes, brownies, and other treats (with some being gluten-free!). I love to come here and know that there is a variety of different menu items that I can eat, being gluten/dairy-free. The atmosphere is cozy, and you are surrounded by amazing artwork, jewelry, crafts, body care, and other items made my local artisans. This place is a must-try!

Yelp
Amazing place, super cool decorations and paintings available for purchase. The food was amazing, great vegan options.

Yelp
This might be an awesome coffee or tea shop (the menu looked thoughtful and the teas appeared tasty), but I came in for the veg-friendly food. I got a falafel sandwich and the veggie lasagna to share with my partner. It was enough to sustain us, but the wrap could have used more sauce or dressing and the lasagna was barely warmer than room temp. At around $18 with tip, I was unimpressed. :/ Maybe their soup is good because they were all out of the four kinds featured today... If it were daytime I'd come here to write or work and sip a hot drink. Try have wifi and they have live music sometimes. Had been hoping for more here. I don't recommend coming here for dinner, but if you need a snack to power through the hours between meals, give it a shot.

Yelp
I love this place! I have been coming to The Art We Are since they were in an obscure, upstairs location on Victoria Street. I love that they are local, and that they make amazing food and drinks. I love that they serve as a place to buy local art! And I am super appreciative of the fact that they are breastfeeding friendly, and LGBTQ2S+ friendly. I wish I could afford to come here more often!

Yelp
Tried the cappuccino with hubby and we find the coffee to be less flavourful and caffeinated than Cafe Motivo. This is one of the less tasty cappuccinos we have had in our lives. Likely not going to come back for the coffees.

Yelp
Love this place!!! The local Art is awesome and beautiful, my 10 yr old daughter loves it too. We have tea there every Friday while her brother is at 4 cats next door. The service is prompt and friendly and the atmosphere is very cozy

Yelp
Excellent coffee and ambiance. A very earthy aesthetic.

Yelp
Great lunch spot for a quick soup salad or other healthy choice option. Pretty cosy seating inside and it's usually busy for a weekday lunch. One of the best quick options downtown Kamloops.

Yelp
The atmosphere here is great. The coffee is pretty great, too. And the shows I've seen here were great as well. The service is well, great. I haven't had too much of the food here so I'm not going to comment on that part. Overall, great/10

Jen N.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place. They're quirky and cater to a range of people and their taste in food, coffee and tea. It's a great space to study, meet up with friends for a chat or have a quick work meeting! Also, I love that they have gluten free items on the menu!

Yelp
The Art We Are has moved to beside Kelly O's on Victoria Street! With direct street access this place will be even busier than before!!

Yelp
This coffee house / restaurant has great, healthy foods and can accommodate many dietary needs including gluten, egg and dairy free, vegetarian and vegan. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The prices here for some things can be quite steep, however, that is most likely because of the higher than average quality of ingredients. I recommend this establishment to all of my friends and colleagues.

Yelp
What isn't there to love about the art we are? They have the best staff, most amazing home made soups daily, and probably the best haystacks I've ever had. Never disappointed!!
google avatar

Kelly K.

Yelp
Delicious GF here and coffee is fantastic. Local art for sale here too. Priced very reasonable :)
google avatar

Yelp
Great coffee, friendly service, a nice place to hang out and work - they have some power outlets too :)

Yelp
Like any superior business located downtown, the only weekness is the lack of parking. the food is incredible, the service is terrific, and the art pieces are classy and appealing! A definite lunch visit is required when you visit this wonderful city.

Yelp
Visiting kamloops from vancouver [where we have so amazing restaurants] stopped in here for lunch. The bread and soup were friggin phenomenal

Mandy Y.

Yelp
Amazing food and atmosphere at this little cafe. It is a little higher on the price point but it could be justified by how fresh and clean the food tastes. I've tried their soups, salads, wraps as well as bakery items and they're all fantastic!

Cheyenne W.

Yelp
I've tried many times to like this place. But the only thing it's got is a cozy setting. The staff never seem to be very attentive or in the best mood. The food is average, if a little bland. The baked goods are better but they don't look very appealing and the choices don't change often. The coffee and espresso drinks aren't particularly bold or smooth enough, but their chai latte and tea selection is good. It's nice to grab a simple drink here with a friend or to read a book by the big windows, although I wouldn't suggest much else.

Yelp
Awesome, light, healthy food. Great coffee, cute quirky decor. I have the mexi pocket or soup and corn bread...so good! Perfect if u want a light lunch or snack.

Jenna D.

Yelp
Try the kung fu quinoa salad! love the fresh soups everyday, beautiful space great vibe.

Lauri L.

Yelp
Great little coffee/tea shop with local art and crafts for sale. Friendly and accommodating service. Great 'cup' of coffee in a full sized French press. They happily made fresh ice tea for this picky person who doesn't like a sweet tea ( which seems to be the only kind readily available). We will return tomorrow.

Yelp
Three recent visits have all been outstanding. Tonight we listened to "Oh My Darlings." They were superb, even for old geezers. The carrot cake is wonderful!
