Cooking Classes Are My Favorite Way to Understand a City

"This cooking class in Athens is located on the roof of The Artist Hotel near Monastiraki Square. The four-hour experience is terrific from start to finish. You learn how to prepare a five-course traditional Greek dinner—Aegean Salad, tzatziki, spanakopita (spinach and feta pie), moussaka (beef and eggplant lasagna), and galatopita (custard pie)."

We stayed at The Artist Athens hotel for three nights in September and loved it! It is a charming contemporary boutique hotel in a great part of the city - easy walking distance from the important sites and near lots of cool restaurants and bars. The rooms were clean and new and comfortable, and surprisingly quiet given we were under the rooftop bar/restaurant! The bar was lovely with a great view and you need to check it out. There are wine tastings and cooking classes that are highly recommended. The staff was wonderful, and there was a beautiful breakfast offered. We will definitely stay there on our next trip - thank you The Artist Athens!

This was our first trip to Athens, and we loved this hotel. We felt very secure. They were able to hold our luggage for us, which was helpful. The breakfast every morning was outstanding, with many options to choose from and all delicious. The rooftop bar and restaurant was very fun, with a fun of the Acropolis in the distance. The cocktails, food, and desserts were amazing. The elevator was a great help with luggage and all. The only thing that Inwould change, is that I would get the larger room. Ours was very small, even for just two people, space was at a premium but we made it work. Staff were always helpful, and we were treated very well. It was very convenient to several restaurants and bars down the alleyway. All very good!

We absolutely loved The Artist - it was a fabulous play to stay. Our room was a good size, well laid out and the shower was really effective. It is also a great location from which to see Athens and a fun part of town. The breakfasts were fabulous, the best I have had in a hotel. The fruit salad was always full with ripe fruit, the bread and pastries were so fresh and yummy and YOUR choice of main was always superb. But most of all, we loved the staff, they were so friendly and helpful, no matter the issues, they became like a second family.

This is a small hotel - well kept - very clean and modern, very friendly and the location is perfect - busy, buzzy and central. Breakfast from a menu rather than buffet - but good. Delicious restaurant on the top floor with great view of the lighted Acropolis at night. Great shower, comfortable beds. We stayed 10 nights. Only disadvantages: no room service, narrow streets. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful stay at this excellent hotel. Absolutely EVERYTHING was perfect in every detail. (They even upgraded us to a Junior Suite) The rooms, the breakfast, the cleanness and most of all the staff which gives you the feeling that they love what they do. After staying in Athens in 5 and 4star hotels over the years this place became our favourite and we'll return for sure!

From checking in to checking out, we have seen nothing but friendliness, from front desk to breakfast staff. People there going out of their way to help and make our stay pleasant and comfortable. A big shoutout to Lampros whose knowledge of foods and restaurants gave us incredible recommendations for dinning around the hotel, made our staying in this hotel more enjoyable and standing out to any other hotels we had ever been.

enjoyed my two night stay here- Hotel is VERY clean, breakfast is five stars, room spacious, airy, and bright. Room service came in while I was at breakfast for both days and cleaned up and replaced towels. Location can't be beat, hotel is definitely an oasis. nice chill music vibe as well. See you in March, and then again with the group in May. Andrew de Valencia.

We had a cool time here cooking "authentic" Greek food with a chef. Most of it was good, he promised to teach us how to make filo dough though, and fell short of that promise. Overall a hood experience, but a bit pricey at around 100 euros per person. You get to keep the recipes at the end, and eat the food you cook. So don't screw it up!
