The ASH - Antwerp Student Hostel

I came here on Thursday. I was greeted very warm and welcome, by Chris and Merel. The service is great. The rooms are very nice and good. Other hostel guests are really kind and great as well. Nobody made it extremely late and not that much noise at all, very considerate people. The kitchen is very big and useful, have two dish washers ,two fridges , two microwaves. I arrived early in morning, way be4 check in time , and Chris already gave me a lot and good recommendations to go to in Antwerpen. Check in is normally from 15:00, my room was already ready at 14:15, which is excellent. Showers are great, and the towel renting is cheaper than in Lisbon. So yes, I really loved it here. The warm, human reception and that of 90% kr more of the very kind guests as well, make this for me, a great hostel. I had mixed dormitory half male, half female.

Basic chill hostel. Cheap and has everything you need. Location is near the central train station and opera metro and tram stops so it’s easy to get around. There’s a street with casinos nearby, so it’s easy to get late night food, especially if North African/Mediterranean is your favorite. Chinatown and a grocery store are also easy walking distance by the train station. With the window cracked open for ventilation there is some highway noise but it is quiet enough for a good night’s sleep. Our private room has a large table for working and en-suite bath. The fan doesn’t work in the bathroom and the shower head is broken but usable. The two twin bed configuration is convenient and the comforter isn’t too hot (in December). You can turn off the radiator and crack the window for air. They are strict about no smoking, and use fragrance free laundry detergent on the linens. Our private room was clean and didn’t smell. In the common area, there is an efficient double kitchen that is free to use, eating and study rooms, and a quiet bar that sells breakfast in the morning and hot chocolate, beer, and wine until 9:30.

It was very nice. Clean, quiet, modern and comfortable. Service is very nice 👍. Only slight problem that we have faced is that the only way up from the basement area (where you can store luggage for free 👍) is with the elevator and there are no stairs up except an emergency exit that leads to outside so when the only elevator is busy you get stuck downstairs 👎. Do not stay here. - The dorm room bathrooms are filled with mold. - The "management" also doesn't even provide soap in the dorm rooms. Yes, that greedy and cheap. And just disgusting. - No towels provided. You have to rent them. Again, greedy. - Slow staff at the reception who prefer to make 2 cappuccinos for customers at a snail's pace in their café than 5 people trying to check in. - The beds are extremely uncomfortable and not clean. - Very shady long-term stay drug users and alcoholics which the management seems to be fine with, possibly because he indulges in it himself judging from his demeanor. If you want to risk waking up to a fire inside your room because of those drug users, definitely stay here. 0/5.

Overall a positive experience, only thing im not a fan of is using the flexipass app to enter the room. My phone doesnt seem to work very well with it, much prefer a normal card. Room i had was slightly chilly at night (fine under the covers) and the wash basin was in main room XD Location wise its alright, maybe a 15min stroll from.the main station. Staff were very friendly! Checkout is 11am, and late checkout is half the price of your room rate. Would stay again.

Pros Practically everything is superb here. I have comparisons but this place is among the top hostels in the town · really nice and cheerful staff · pristine rooms, kitchen, etc. · spacious showers & toilets · very good beds · hotel-like vibe Cons · lockers: they aren't in the rooms, then they are small & you have to pay for them · due to the centrality... you cannot find a good supermarket nearby. The local breakfast is very good for groups but not friendly for individuals like backpackers

Very chill, tidy, clean, and quiet hostel, with families staying over as well. Quite spacious rooms, great Wi-Fi, and great staff. The only thing is that there are quite a few mosquitoes, even at the end of October, and there’s no soap in the room. But I’d definitely recommend this place!

Spent a night but probably we’ll return for a longer stay. Very basic and clean double room. Amazing location and friendly person in the reception. I found using the app to get into the building super useful, made check-in experience a breeze. recommended…
