Five members of our family recently enjoyed a Monday thru Friday week staying in the Veranda Suite at the Atlantic. The suite had a small well equipped kitchen, which we did use for one or two simple meals. There is a living/dining room combo, quite comfortable and spacious. There are two bedrooms with cozy bedding and views from every window. Everyone slept well every night, some of us even slept in until roused by coffee brought from the always ready coffee bar in the hotel proper. There is an additional sofa bed though we didn't utilize it. The large bathroom is well stocked with essential bath products, soaps, shampoos and a large pile of fluffy towels. The shower has two shower heads and easily fits two people, while you're getting wet from the back and front simultaneously. The Veranda Suite is a bit behind the main hotel, quiet and serene. We all enjoyed a wonderful gourmet dinner on the porch with exceptional wine and my granddaughter made sure to get a cookie very day from the lobby. The family spent quite a bit of time on the suite's wide porch with rockers, couches, tables and chairs, it'd be a great place to have a cocktail party, easily has room for twenty or so. And the view is postcard worthy.||The hotel itself is a five or six minute walk from the village stores, shops and restaurants and more importantly, the ferry. There's a farm just a bit down the hill that my granddaughter insisted we visit every day to feed the camels, llamas, goats and kangaroos. Lots of hiking around the island that some of the family took advantage of.||It was our first experience on Block Island and everyone wants to return for the mopeds, the banana boat ride and Crescent Beach.

We stayed at The Atlantic for the weekend after 4th of July. It was a wonderful weekend and I’d recommend this hotel for sure. It is a little walk uphill from the ferry but well worth it to be on the top of the hill with such beautiful views. The staff were very welcoming when we arrived and there was some nice wine and sweets when we checked in. Thankfully our room was ready when we arrived and it was very nice. A bit cozy with a very comfortable queen bed and nice views of the grounds. While the room is very quaint and feels like you have stepped back into history my husband was very happy that the room had air conditioning that we controlled. The bath was on the small side but just enough for the two of us. They also had very nice amenities. ||We had drinks on the front lawn in the evening and dinner at the restaurant which was wonderful. We were able to sit outside which was very nice. Our appetizers and our entrees were delicious and the service was spot on. We were very pleased with our dinner. ||The Atlantic also offered a continental breakfast in the morning (for a small fee) which we enjoyed and it was just enough. They also offered a full brunch, which we missed this trip. The grounds are beautiful and so peaceful overlooking a farm below which is so cute with several animals you can see. It is also so close to many other places making it a great place to stay.

Google
Excellent waitstaff that goes above and beyond and the best lobster pasta on Earth with incredible sunset views and and water views from high on the hill. Cannot wait to return. Not a fan of their wedge salad. Keep it simple. Lots of seating choices and a lovely property.

Google
We had dinner on the porch which was very pleasant and the views were great. They also have indoor and what the call patio dining. Patio dining is on the lawn so it's in the sun, if you want outdoor but not in the sun reserve the porch. I had the mussels and the scallops. The mussels are spectacular. They are served in soup rather than just a broth. The mussels themselves were plump and fresh but it's the soup that sets this dish apart, I wanted to lick the plate. For the main course I had the scallops. They were fine, fresh but otherwise not outstanding.

Just spent the most wonderful weekend with my sister at The Atlantic Inn. The staff was amazing, especially Sara K, the restaurant hostess. She checked on us throughout our stay and gave us great ideas on things to do. The view was second to none and dinner on the patio absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the halibut. Our room was quaint and squeaky clean. Hats off to the new owners for preserving this inn. We have decided to make this a new annual tradition!

Google
We love the restaurant at the Atlantic and come here every year for my birthday. I especially love the fact that they have a vegetarian menu (you'll need to ask for it from the host/ess though.) The view is beautiful and the food is the best on the island in my opinion.

Google
The best dining experience for me in quite some time. It started with a very simple tomato sandwich appetizer. At first glance not a glamorous start but the flavor combination of fresh vine ripened tomatoes, basil, and the house-made aioli really set the tone and showcased the Chef's attention to detail and his culinary flair. And it just got better from there. Dinner at the Atlantic was the apex of our trip to Block Island and I highly recommend you make it part of your itinerary the next time you visit the island.

Google
We had lunch at the inn's restaurant last weekend. Lovely views of the harbor and Atlantic; excellent food; surprisingly poor service. Our waitress checked on us once midway through lunch, never offering to refill our drinks or anything else despite the fact the place was practically overflowing with staff. After eating, we stared at our empty plates for at least 20 minutes before anyone approached. We tipped commensurate with the service received. Next to our table was an extremely loud obnoxious woman who was obviously drunk. Staff kept feeding her drinks, probably where their profit / tip margins are. They should have cut her off. Miserable experience.

Yelp
We had a wonderful stay and dining experience here! They just started doing weekend brunch which we enjoyed on their covered porch. The room was very comfortable and felt like a good mix of coastal vintage and modern amenities. There was no television which was a nice touch so we could stay present on property. We enjoyed our dinner in the dining room as well, it is very beautifully decorated and they have a wine spectator award. It's a great spot for a getaway - they have it all! I especially enjoyed the personalized service with welcome wine and cookies, and self serve coffee for the mornings.

Lisa K.

Yelp
Excellent meal. The entrees were super. Higher priced than most places on the island but a nice atmosphere, super service and grand porch with great sunset views. The strawberry shortcake dessert did not make the grade. It was a tiny scoop of yummy ice cream with a few crumbles on top for $16. No biscuit, no cake, not even a cookie. They called it "deconstructed". We called it majorly disappointing.

Ila S.

Yelp
Delightful! What an enjoyable, delicious brunch in the loveliest setting. The service was excellent, the brunch was delicious, looking forward to a return visit! The Atlantic Inn was beautifully decorated inside and out!

Yelp
Yeah, yeah, yeah...great view, lovely setting on the Block...but, really you're on Block Island not New York or Boston. What's with the pricing ... 18.00 for a beet salad, 21.00 for a fig salad, 46.00 for a bowl of linguine, 51.00 for for a plate of 8 local (?) scallops...half size no less. Tell me you didn't cut those in half. Yet, your wine choices and prices are excellent 12 - 18 per glass - serious drinks higher. And then, there's the focaccia which came with the dinner ... an up charge of $8.00 placed on the final bill for 'bread.' If it's your standard to dine out at $!25+ per person ... I would recommend 3-5 other places on island that would leave a better taste in your mouth.

Rebecca K.

Yelp
Have always wanted to stop here and finally did. I enjoyed a fabulous lunch on the porch while looking at the ocean. I couldn't have been more perfect. I had the wellness salad with salmon. Wow. They don't skimp on the size. Enough for two people and the freshest ingredients. I complimented with salmon- again extremely generous and yummy. Staff was friendly. Food took a bit long to come. Bu, I can't wait to return.

Yelp
Holy smokes, this place is delightful! The front of the house folks, Delilah and Sarah were welcoming and sweet! The room... well it's block island... wasn't the 850 square feet we all justly deserve, but it was cozy, spotless and perfectly climate controlled! Now the food, SIMPLY UNBELIEVABLE! 8 of US ENJOYED dinner and lunch, as well as snacks there several times during our 5 night stay. Impeccable service, fun hosts and bartender Wyatt, a native did a wonderful job and were over the top as we had a diverse group ages 6 weeks to 68 years old. I plan to skip renting a house next summer, opting to stay here! It is absolutely heavenly.

Athina L.

Yelp
This was our 6th trip to the island, and our first time dining at the Atlantic. The focaccia we ordered was lovely, but the dipping oil was overbearing with vinegar. A seasoned olive oil would have been much more appealing to the palate. The sharpness of the vinegar obliterated any deliciousness of the bread. My steak tartare was tasty, but could have been more finely minced.the texture was wonky and awkward to pile on to the toasts. The one thing that really annoyed me-(it seems to be an ongoing trend to use culinary terminology that is inaccurate, just to sound "cheffy") The menu said that my scallop dish was topped with a prosciutto "gremolata"- there was nothing on my dish that would fit that description. There were a few dried strips of prosciutto. There was no gremolata. Some patrons are familiar with these terms, and it's an insult when chefs use these terms incorrectly and assume that we don't know better. My scallops also were tiny and also sliced in half!! 1/4" thick, an the size of a quarter in diameter.that's inexcusable for such a pricey entree. The view was gorgeous, the service was decent.

M B.

Yelp
Overpriced, service poor and food not worth it! We ordered a bottle of wine and waited & waited, it never came. Scallops were overcooked, gritty and very small. Four adults & 2 small children, they added a 22% gratuity. IF you add a 22% gratuity you better have great service, service was poor & lacking. I will not return!

Penny J.

Yelp
Banana espresso martini was delicious. Their light lagger was also good. Fresh oysters were good but not very large. The salt and vinegar fries just taste like normal fries.

Kate H.

Yelp
Wow- the food is UNREAL. Weird starting a review with food when the view, decor and overall vibe is so on point, but we were blown away by both breakfast and dinner. The ambiance/renovation is stunning, design and energy is something out of architectural digest- pays homage to the island/ history while being contemporary and comfortable. Highly recommend

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Best cheese board, drinks, and sunset on Block Island wine by bottle or glass...outrageous staff

Yelp
I wish I could say better things. Block Island is fun and the hotel has a lovely view, but overall our experience was negative. When we arrived at 1pm on a Sunday a grown woman was vomiting booze in the hotel lobby bathroom. From there, it went south. What could have been a decent stay (nice but tiny room, OK food) turned into a huge disappointment. We could not be more appalled by the awful customer service at the Atlantic Inn. When my mother-in-law had to be rushed to the ER after a fall in the morning and couldn't complete her stay that night, we were told that a future credit for a single night midweek was "impossible." We alerted the hotel at 10 am, mere minutes after it happened. Tom at the front desk was unhelpful and rude. Sarah, the manager never even called us back. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone contemplating a trip to Block Island.

Yelp
Awesome dinner on the veranda food, service & ambiance were the top. Great meal, wine & dessert.

Yelp
We stopped in for a drink at the outside bar on a warm and enjoyable evening and ordered a bourbon on the rocks for myself and a drink for my wife. When I received the bill I was charged $12 for the bourbon and $3.50 for the rocks. I advised the server to please remove the charge as I have never been charged for ice. This prompted a visit from the manager who arrived at the table and wanted to know who complained about the charge. I was told that due to the ice I received a pour which was more than normal. I told her that I did not want nor ask for a more than normal Pour and that I was highly insulted by the charge and requested that it be removed. Needless to say the charge remained although I held back an $8 gratuity that I was planning on leaving It's inconceivable that they would rather alienate a good customer rather than doing the right thing.

Yelp
Food was good but the grey goose Gibson wasn't right. Something licorice was in it. ice cream was the worst I've ever had in my life, didn't take a second bite. No creaminess and lacked flavor. Very icy. Cheese board was good. Pork chop was good. Filet was phenomenal. Pho was ok.

Yelp
We came to the Atlantic Inn for dinner on a summer Monday evening. Our reservation was at 6:30pm. Upon arriving we were seated immediately and our server came over shortly after. Our server was attentive and kind, very knowledgeable about the menu and what his favorite meals were. I had the salmon and my friend had the scallops, both were absolutely delicious. The prices of the meals were on par with dinner on the rest of the island but the quality seemed exceptional for the cost. Our meals came out quickly. When we were done with our meals however the restaurant was significantly more crowded (about 7:30pm). I would absolutely return again for dinner and would keep my 6:30 dinner time to avoid the crowd!

Yelp
Truthfully, we had an outstanding time on the lawn having cocktails & appetizers while we waited for our table. It couldn't have been better. Everything turned when we were seated inside for dinner. The menu was exactly whet we had put on the lawn, with four entree choices. Once we ordered, the food, it took one hour to come, which was unreasonable. We had ordered bay scallops, sliders, a chicken basket, and fries. We were informed that there was an error In the bill, they added the bill from the lawn accidentally to the bill inside. We said, no problem, just void it. They said they could void it but we would see a charge twice. We asked for a receipt for the voided transaction. It never came. Then they put the whole bill (for inside and out) on one card without asking us how to divide it. Long story short, we had over a $500 hold on our credit card because of several errors on their part. And the manager never even apologized. I don't recommend places that have poor business practices, and this was one. Go to another restaurant if on Block Island, there are plenty.

Yelp
We loved our dinner at the Atlantic Inn! It was about a 10 minute walk from the main strip so it was pleasantly quiet while still having great views. My sister ordered the cast iron seared pheasant and I ordered the halibut curry and both were amazing! We are every last bite. Will definitely be back.

Eileen B.

Yelp
My son was on leave from the military, and I wanted him to have a great meal with a great view. Everyone was so nice and the meal was incredible. I had the scallops ... My mouth is watering right now thinking about how good they were. My son ordered the wagyu steak. It was worth every cent!! The service was top notch and the owner stopped by our table to make sure everything was ok. As far as the view ... it is amazing! The Atlantic is a must for a great dining experience!

Lauren B.

Yelp
Horrendous customer service for outrageous prices. We were told that we would have to pay for dishes that were way too spicy in addition to their replacements (has NEVER happened to me before). The owner argued that we should've known the dish was always cooked spicy, and had the audacity to talk back when I politely corrected him as if he were the authority on Vietnamese food. In his words, if it's not spicy it's cooked wrong. He was very dismissive and argumentative, preferring to stick to his alternative facts. Have never experienced such awful service and will not be back until there is a change in ownership. Edit: In response to the business manager, we were never informed by the server that the broth would be spicy, even after asking that the dish not be served with the advertised chili flakes. Northern Pho tends to be very mild, while Southern/Central tends to be more spicy. There was no indication on the menu other than the chili flakes that the pho would be spicy.

Yelp
We enjoyed the whole experience at The Atlantic Inn and the Restaurant 1879. We had heard many good things about this place, and were so happy to have been able to eat here several times during our recent vacation. Everything from the welcoming front porch, the friendly staff, the terrific food, and the live jazz music added to the enjoyment of an amazing meal in a very special location each time. Chef Denny created some real flavor magic with his original and delicious apps and entrees. Everything was visually appealing as well as truly flavorful and satisfying. We absolutely enjoyed the Wagyu for Two, which was cooked to perfection. Chef Denny even came to our table to make sure our meal was to our liking. He's a rock star! Behind the bar, Eric and his team took good care of us. We enjoyed their positive energy, friendly faces, and great service. Would absolutely eat here again and again and again.

Christina M.

Yelp
Best food on Block Island. We ate here and noticed responsible social distancing and the food was excellent. My husband had the veal and I ordered scallops. Not a big fan of the Arnold Palmer dessert but the lavender infusion was a nice surprise to it. The potatoes that were curried served with the scallops were complex and delicious. The veggies are all locally grown and the tomato salad starter was simple and refreshing. We will definitely be back!

Edward H.

Yelp
We arrived a bit early for our reservation. We sat outside and took in the lovely view while waiting. The appetizer, Watermelon Gazpacho, was one of the best I ever had. It was layered with flavors, sweet and salty with a slight bit of spice. Every ingredient complimented each other. I also had the Wagyu Ribeye. Incredibly tender and the chorizo and kale was a nice touch. If you are looking for a nice sit down dinner away from the hustle and bustle this is a top choice.

Georgian I.

Yelp
Don't waste your money. 45 mins for apps, 45 mins after for entrees and they forgot one of us. Ordered dirty martini's and they forgot the olive juice. Took another 15mins for the olive juice to come to the table. Ordered a bottle of wine and when we wanted another one bottle of something else they were out. Asked for 2 different ones they were also out. By the time we finally got a bottle of wine we were finished with our meals and our 5th person still didn't get his steak. Manager said "sorry we were too busy" Asked to move inside because it was pitch black on the lawn and didn't want to eat a $50 steak in the dark, they said they couldn't accomadate us even though they had open tables that were open until we left. Food was good tho. The 3 out of 4 steaks we got were cooked perfectly! Apps were on point. But the whole experience disappoints. Poor and slow service, poor management and it's not worth it.

Carolyn M.

Yelp
Excellent chef. Not typical food fare. It seemed to have an Asian flair to it. My husband who's not the most adventurous loved his Waygu steak can Ike's and flavored perfectly. My lobster with a corn succotash was delicious. Mussels to start great flavorful quality. If going around sunset don't be afraid to eat inside if it's cool and windy. There are seats inside with views of the water and sunset. There was a lovely breeze from the porch where we were seated and ceiling fans which weren't really needed. At sunset I noticed the people on the porch had the sun in their eyes.

Mike M.

Yelp
We saved the best for last. The Atlantic Inn came highly recommended and did not disappoint. The halibut special was simply put, fantastic and my wife's scallops were the best she's ever had!! The service was par excellence and the old and historic hotel made our last night on the island both special and memorable. I would come to the island just to dine at this wonderful gourmet restaurant. We also met the 24 year old head chef who is in his way to stardom!

Steve M.

Yelp
This restaurant aims high, with prices that reflect that ambition. We just had a (mostly) good meal there. Salad and oysters were fine, wine list exceptional, and the halibut curry was very good. The wait staff were great. But management needs to know that the rack of lamb at $37 is way below their standards. There was hardly any meat on it- less than you would find on a lamb lollipop appetizer. And it was tough. Generally very good but not as good as their prices require.

Marc S.

Yelp
The place is beautiful with a great view of the ocean. I had a great event there but dealing with the owner on the logistics, details for the event and the costs he quoted vs. what he charged us at the end was a disaster. He would change things on us despite having a contract. This may explain why he is trying to sell the inn but without any success. No one wants an outdated place with no air conditioning. The staff on the other hand was great. They went out of their way to make our event special. Good luck with dealing with the owner. The owner cannot be trusted with anything he says! Buyer beware!

Patrick M.

Yelp
Hello, My wife and I had gone 17 years in a row. Never acknowledged we existed by the owner Brad. His wife was lovely. Vibe changed when he fired his long term manager.

Tanner G.

Yelp
We dined here for my friends birthday, the waitress was very very nice and the seating and views were amazing. But the food and drinks were mid tier at best. I ordered a lemonade and it did not even look or taste like that... practically water. The charcuterie board was disappointing, little to no variety of meats and other delicacies. The veal sliders were absolutely atrocious, to where they needed to be spat out. The chips were soggy, but tasted alright. The mac n cheese bites were the only good thing about that night. If you don't have ~expensive taste~ then the foods not worth it. Go here if you just want some drinks and a good view

Ginger W.

Yelp
We've been coming to the Atlantic Inn for twenty five years so that says it all! It is like stepping back in time and experiencing the quintessential Victorian summer. The food in the dining room is the best on the island. Tapas and drinks on the lawn can't be beat-- along with the fun, young wait staff.

Elaine N.

Yelp
minutes ago on  Google Responce to the Manager's comments of my review update: 1. Server did NOT notify us that this dish was spicey even after we requested that the chili be omitted. 2. Management only offered to take the meals off our bill after we complained. Their first response was that we could order another entree but we would be charged for the original as well. 3. Pho is not always "hot" spicey. A competent restaurant menu would indicate the spicey nature. If it is regional, the region should be noted. 4. But aside from the above, we genuinely complained about the food because it was inedible. The manager was rude and accused us of ordering something we knew was spicey. Believe me, I would never order a spicey dish, and the acusitory nature of the manager's response says it all, and now in written form. Thank you for showing your true colors for all to see. An experienced manager of a high end restaurant would apologize and not accuse a patron of malfeasance. Very poor. Customer service horrible. Food prep poor. I'm a long time customer but will now stay far away. 30 yr owner was rude when my husband and I declared our meal was inedible. Halibut Pho is not always spicy. We requested no chili shavings, but broth was very spicy hot. No mention of the broth being spicey in the menu and no mention by the waitress, even when we requested no chili spice. Meal arrived and was too spicy, so we requested a replacement. First the restaurant refused to credit us for the meal so we could order another. Then the owner/manager came out to talk with us and was rude to my daughter. He finally removed the meal and we departed, not having eaten an entre. The Atlantic Inn owner did not care about his customers and the food was not properly prepared. I will never return.

Erin J.

Yelp
This is our favorite vacation for two! We enjoy the peaceful pace, comfy accommodations, and amazing meals. Lighthouse is walkable. There is even a petting zoo nearby and farmers' market weekly. There is no greater way to spend an evening sunset than enjoying cocktails and charcuterie on the porch at the Atlantic Inn while the breeze rolls in off the ocean.

Lynn C.

Yelp
Too much fennel!!! Great ambiance for a night out in block island, especially at sunset. Our meal took 90 minutes to come out and service was poor. Wouldn't go back here. Ordered the wagyu steak and could not enjoy due to the overpowering fennel.

Nancy C.

Yelp
Had a wonderful stay at the Atlantic which has some of the best views on the island. Friendly hotel staff, clean rooms and great location that's walking distance to town. My room was small (as described) but quiet and comfortable, clean and well appointed. Not sure it would be great for a couple as the bathroom was tiny and not a lot of walking room around the bed but it was perfect for me and I'm sure some of the rooms are more spacious. Definitely recommend

Ignatius L.

Yelp
What a wonderful evening at the Atlantic Inn. We dined on the front lawn in a fun and creative way. Everything was positively wonderful, including ceviche, oysters and scallops. Dare I say, the best meal on the Block.

Mike E.

Yelp
Food was great, but it seemed the restaurant discriminated against us pretty blatantly. Tried to first turn us away and then put our orders behind those of others who came in and ordered well after us. Walked and asked about dinner for 2 on a Saturday evening. The place was not empty but not overly crowded. The host first said it may not be possible if we didn't have a reservation. My wife said we could wait for a table if need be. Then the host said, "well, I have this one table - let me show you". It was a table in the corner. We said it was fine. While we were dining, there was another table across from us that was never occupied, so that seemed weird. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. Appetizers came promptly. Then there was about an hour wait between our appetizers and the second course. There was nothing complicated about our orders - no modifications to what was on the menu. My wife ordered an appetizer and a small plate and two glasses of wine. I ordered an appetizer and an entree. Our waiter apologized and explained that there was a table of eight that just got seated, so that may slow things down a bit. He offered to bring us more bread or anything else while we waited for the entrees, which was a nice gesture. The host was going in and out of the kitchen the entire time. A table of four or seated after we placed our orders and left before we got our entrees. Same thing with a table of two near us. Also of note: on the menu, there was a $20 item listed as "round of drinks for the chef and staff". Seems like a sleazy move to blatantly ask for handouts like that. Our best guess for why the host attempted to turn us away and why we had to wait an hour between our appetizers and our second courses was that the host was assuming we were not wealthy enough compared to other guests. We look about ten years younger than we are. But this seemed completely unnecessary, as the restaurant never filled up while we were there. So I would not recommend coming here unless you look as though you have a lot of money.

Yelp
The Atlantic Inn is a fantastic old Victorian building built sometime in the late 19th century. It contains around 25 or so rooms and has a commanding presence on top of a hill within walking distance of Rebbecca and the center of town. Southeast lighthouse and Mohegan Bluffs are only a short bike ride away in the other direction. The location is gorgeous with great views, a huge pouch and lovely flowers and plants everywhere you look. The rooms are decorated with period furniture and lovely old paintings and the entire interior gives the sense of stepping back in time. The staff were extremely polite and friendly and the meals at the hotel superb, with many of the veggies grown right on grounds. A great place and the only negative is that it tends to get crowded during the summer and you have to book well in advance.

Hilary H.

Yelp
The Atlantic Inn is a quaint, charming and very old fashioned inn on a beautiful piece of land with a beautiful view of the town, the water, and the rolling hills of BI. Head out to the lawn just before sunset and order yourself a cocktail -- this place boasts the best seats in town to watch the sun going down. The inn itself is very old, and doesn't seem to have been updated (save for electricity and plumbing) since it was built. While the rooms are quite small, they are comfortable, although on a breezy September night, our room was so stifling I can't imagine what it would be like in the heat of July or August. When I say old fashioned, I mean it -- they don't book online. You have to call to reserve your room and then send a check within a week, or you'll lose the room. You can give them a credit card over the phone, but they'll charge you a fee and then run it through one of those hand-operated imprinting devices. How 1985! There are also no phones or TVs in the rooms. No AC, either. The inn is clean, the staff is sweet and the complimentary breakfast decent. The restaurant is pretty good, too and worth making a reservation at for at least one meal during your stay. I would definitely stay here again!

Irina P.

Yelp
Love that they handed us blankets as we walked onto the grass as the evenings tend to get chilly. The staff was so super attentive and nice. Beautiful views, starry skies, cold Westheimer brews and perfectly shareable Lobster Sliders made for a wonderful, low key evening. The white kitty that kept us company on the lawn was a bonus but do keep in mind she has a sophisticated palate and prefers her lobster with no mayo.

Pepper G.

Yelp
We planned our 30th anniversary at The North Light on Block Island. I contacted Brad, owner/operator, at The Atlantic and he walked me through some options for a special dinner (party of ten). Most of the guests are from the San Francisco Bay Area so our expectations on food and service can be high. Brad and our server Ariel made sure the service was outstanding. Unfortunately, I don't know the Chef's name but everyone raved about the food. Everything from the scallops to the stuffed Lobster (house specialty) and the Halibut special were flawless and served on point. Best meal I have ever had on BI by far and I have been visiting for over 40 years.

Joe C.

Yelp
The Atlantic Inn is located a short uphill hike from town. I mention the hill because the hill is key to its location. In the evenings when the sun goes down tables and chairs are set up on the front lawn, all overlooking the hill. The view is beautiful, quiet, peaceful and very New England preppy-like. I say very New England preppy-like because you'll feel like the person sitting next to you could very well be somebody from the Kennedy clan (of JFK fame). You don't have to book a room to enjoy this Block Island classic. You can easily grab a few drinks at the bar or eat in the wonderful dining room. Everyone is welcome (Although if you're wearing a t-shirt or sandals you probably won't be welcomed. That's understandable because it's not THAT type of place). Although I didn't find their menu overly impressive, what I ordered was both terrific and reasonably priced. The portion sizes were fine and I didn't walk away hungry. The cheese plate and frickles (deep fried pickles) were both top notch. My only qualms with the place is its staff. It's not that they were awful. They weren't. It's just the attitude they carried was that they didn't give a #%@. OK I get that the staff has to put up with tourists every day of the week. I get it. I worked at a ski resort myself for one year and dealt with tourists every day. But that's what I signed up for and that's what they signed up for too. Even though they may not care they should act like they care. Earlier in the day, I had been at the Beach Head and the staff at the Atlantic could learn a thing or two from the crew at the Beach Head. I seriously mean that. The Beach Head staff was falling all over me to made me feel like I was truly welcomed. Overall it's a five star experience (speaking for the restaurant) with one star subtracted for the careless and apathetic wait staff.

Yelp
Kind of bummed out because we heard such wonderful things about this place. The service was absolutely horrible. We ordered a bottle of wine and quite a few apps / share plates and our server didn't check on us once, not to even refresh wine. Food was mediocre but service completely killed the experience.

Yelp
Had a very disappointing meal last night, which was very surprising since our previous visits were 5 stars. My watermelon salad was horrible. My wife's halibut was so heavily spiced she couldn't taste the fish. My niece's Steak was so rare she wouldn't eat it...just the fries. She ordered it well done! Maybe it's post COVID ramp up...

Yelp
The Atlantic Inn was recommended to a group of us vacationing on Block Island, the food and service was the best that we have had all week. The Scallops are a must if you dine there. The whole staff very friendly and professional. Dave

Yelp
Our experience here was rather mixed. The restaurant has an extensive list of wines, most of them are mediocre at most and are very pricey for what you get. The restaurant was out of a lot of the menu items. Customers around us complained about it as the selection was very limited. We ordered a number of different dishes, we enjoyed most of them and we loved the bread that was brought to the table. One of the dishes tasted terrible and we sent it back to the kitchen. We were surprised that we were charged for this one dish and asked the waiter to bring it up with the manager. Apparently the manager didn't care enough about ensuring that the customers leave satisfied and refused to take off the charge. Overall service was good, I wish that the waiter wouldn't be so pushy. When a customer says that they don't want dessert, please respect it.

Yelp
Was looking forward to having a delightful dinner with college friends while on a weekend escape, as we had with every other dining establishments this weekend. First, I will start with a positive: our waitress was very nice, attentive and helpful, and listening to the other wait staff it sounded like they were equally kind and knowledgeable. The appetizers were interesting and inventive and were not bad. We ordered the focaccia basket, the mezze platter and the pheasant dumplings. The meals came shortly after the appetizers were cleared. My dining companions ordered the pork chop and the pheasant, which they enjoyed as they had been seasoned well and cooked appropriately. I had ordered the Wagyu steak, which was ordered medium rare but came out not only over cooked but unseasoned and had an off putting texture and flavor, I can describe it as a wet (but not juicy), rubbery piece of meat with faint aftertaste of plastic. I can only assume what could have been the issue as the manager did not take a moment to discuss with me as a caring, professional in the hospitality business should. He asked how everything was, and as I thought they would care to know the preparation was off, I politely told him the steak was over cooked and had no flavor and odd taste. He grabbed the plate, looked at it, abruptly turned and walked away while, angrily stating "That is medium rare". I was surprised by this but assumed he was taking responsibility and walking back to kitchen to talk to kitchen staff and make things right either with a new plate or come back to apologize and explain the issue. Neither happened. I was never offered another meal in its place. In fact, although he came back to our dining area in more than one occasion he did not even give our table a glance. This could have been a learning and teachable moment, figuring out what had caused the issue and what should be done in future to avoid this from happening again, unfortunately it appears this "manager/owner" chose to be unprofessional and take no responsibility. Sad, as it is a beautiful location and the wait staff were pleasant. I would not recommend this place to anyone, as there are many other nearby dining establishments with excellent food, drink and servers and management who understand what "hospitality" truly means.

Yelp
Beautiful spot for end of the day cocktails on the lawn! Service was excellent and the food was delicious (highly recommend the striped bass and baked oysters). Take a pass on the desserts and have an extra cocktail before dinner while enjoying the view, or treat yourself to an extra piece of their homemade bread which was beyond! Does not take American Express. Large vegetarian menu.

Yelp
We had a delightful round of appetizers, and drinks on the deck last night. The deviled eggs with smoked salmon, tomato Mac and Cheese Croquettes, and Ribs were the highlights! Cocktails were splendid! Our server was very friendly, professional, and on top of her game. 10/10 will be going back there!
