The Atlantic Inn, St Mary's

We have had the fortune to visit The Scilly Isles before but that was during the Summer months. We decided to take a last minute break for Christmas and new year as we had heard the island community really comes together at this time of year. We were lucky enough to stay at The Atlantic which was the perfect base right in the middle of Hugh Town to explore St Marys and further afield. The Restaurant and Pub was nicely dec'd out and they had also decorated our room which was a lovely touch and helped it feel a home from home. Our room was great, warm, comfortable and with plenty of room to relax. The Scillonian had stopped sailing for the Winter so the Islands were noticeably quieter but the residents seem to take this time to catch their breath and enjoy themselves. The team at The Atlantic were brilliant in helping us fit in and be part of the Island celebrations enjoying all it had to offer. The Christmas Street Market and Carol Concert really got us in the festive spirit, the Christmas Lunch was quite special and New Years Eve....what a party! Very pleased we took the decision to spend Christmas and New Year in The Scilly's made all the better by a great team that made us feel part of the Island family. Thank you Atlantico's!

Superb location - delicious food - fabulous views and outstanding staff - located right where you need to be for views / drinks / great food and next door to what where all the boats leave for neighbouring islands. Or room was spectacularly positioned high up on the shoreline where you could watch the boats come and go - see the little planes coming in and count the thousands of birds. The attached bar is fabulous and does some great food and the restaurant also offers specials overlooking the bay. The staff were incredibly warm, welcoming and professional - always with tips and recommendations … and a smile. (Special shout out to Megan and Alex ❤️). We loved it so much we are already booked for next October!

The Islands have a unique atmosphere and charm unlike anywhere else I have visited. My wife and I found the Atlantic the perfect base close to the quay for when you arrive and then to explore the other Islands. The Hotel room was very clean, well appointed, with a great view and comfy bed. A lady called Kate refreshed our room a couple of times during our stay and was full of useful advice about the islands and places to visit. We had breakfast every morning and then dinner in the restaurant a few times during our stay. The food was always great and service superb, we really felt the team were sincere and wanted us to enjoy our stay. Flo & Lucy served us each evening, they were professional but with a nice personal touch. In overview I would say a very well run business, we would love to return.

We were a large group, 11 of us, for dinner. My partner and I shared a bruschetta starter and a whipped feta starter, both delicious. We then had the sharer seafood platter, which was amazing! The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. The atmosphere in the main bar is fantastic. Well worth a visit for a meal; my partner and I also popped in for a late morning coffee, again a great experience.

Very comfortable beds and beautifully appointed room. My husband was taken ill on the first day of our holiday and airlifted to Truro hospital. The hotel staff went the extra mile to help, so much so they refunded our accommodation costs. I was met with kindness and support at a difficult time which made the whole experience more bearable. A wonderful caring hotel.

Location is fabulous looking straight out onto the beach and across to some of the islands. Restaurant staff were so welcoming, helpful and friendly. If you are actually staying at the hotel it could have done with a lounge area as you either had to sit in the room (no way) or in the bar/restaurant areas which were always full. Do not ask for the twin bedded room which was in the roof. Room was hot, stuffy, dim, small couldn't open window more than a couple of inches, could not open bathroom window as there were gulls on the roof outside and of course you had to keep ducking due to the low ceiling. So disappointed especially when we saw some of the room on the level down so much nicer.

Lovely food, lovely atmosphere and great views. Meg was a fantastic host and made our experience even more enjoyable, perfect and professional service. Brilliant staff paired with brilliant food!!! Really enjoyed the Smoked Mackerel & Horseradish Rilette as well as the Crab Aranchini to start. Amazing selection of specials too! Definitely recommend.

What a fantastic place the food was lovely. We had gone to the Isles just for the day so was not sure where to go. This place did definitely not disappoint us. I would highly recommend and go again if we were ever back on the Isles.
