"Charming Boutique Hotel in Vibrant Bellavista Neighborhood The Aubrey Hotel is full of surprises to be discovered. Whether a cozy, hidden seating area, meringue cake at afternoon tea, or fresh raspberry juice and mango nectar delivered by a delightfully energetic breakfast server, the Aubrey was a terrific base for three nights in Santiago . The hotel consists of two renovated historic mansions in the bohemian Bellavista neighborhood and an added pool terrace and piano lounge. The multicultural staff is bilingual, friendly, and gives great recommendations. Bellavista is a lively, vibrant neighborhood filled with university students, street art, restaurants, and bars and has a busy late-night scene. There are no large hotels nearby, just small hostels and B&Bs. The area exudes character and is easily walkable to La Vega Central (the main produce market), the Museo de Bellas Artes, and other main tourist sites. The hotel is adjacent to Cerro San Cristobal. It is relatively pricey, but if you are looking for a hotel with character and outstanding service, I found the Aubrey to provide great value."

"The Aubrey sits at the edge of Barrio Bellavista, a few steps from Santiago ’s bottle-green 1925 funicular (which takes visitors up to Cerro San Cristóbal ) and just below the zoo (sometimes guests can hear the animals when they're lying by the pool). Open since 2010, this 15-bedroom boutique hotel is housed between two 1920s mansions built by the same architect. The larger of the two houses once belonged to famed Chilean railway magnate Domingo Durán. Today, the hotel is owned by a Brit and an Aussie who spent $3 million and several years transforming it into its current state. The bedrooms are split between the two mansions, and there's also an outside block housing a few pool suites. A cobbled terrace runs between the restaurant and piano bar. The interiors are inspired by the early 20th-century art deco movement and feature statement art deco furniture, printed fabrics, and elaborate wallpaper."

We spent the day here while awaiting travel PCR test results. There’s no better place to temporarily quarantine upon arriving in Santiago. The pool and deck were secluded and sunny, the service attentive and friendly, and the rooms quite comfortable. A little noise from the street outside made us wish we could venture out, but the staff met our every need with a smile.

Lovely historic hotel at a great value. Rooms are comfortable and bathrooms are extra spacious. The staff is excellent - courtious, professional and very helpful. Located within easy walking distance of most major attractions and tons of dining.

This hotel was a huge disappointment as it didn’t have anything to do with the photos showed on its website. It hasn’t been properly maintained in years. It's falling apart. Our room was bleak and unclean. We requested another room, which was worse. We really felt cheated. It was extremely frustrating as we had had a long flight and we had high expectations based on the good reviews. We canceled our reservation and found another hotel in the area.

Came here on our honeymoon and were blown away by the rooms, the location, and the people that work here. Mark, the owner, is an awesome guy, and clearly has a sense for who he hires. If you are lucky, you will get Manuel for your bartender and your front desk person will be Catalina. They were awesome. Hely at the pool also took great care of us and he may or may not have read this review before I posted it and forced me to say that :)... Awesome place

Urban Oasis For me, a perfect hotel is historically or artistically unique with a flair for luxe. The first thing that immediately made my heart happy is the fact that it sits in the heart of the vibrant Bellavista Distract, but being at the edge of the Gardens and Zoo, it exists in it’s own tranquil world. You can walk down the street for dinner, music, art and revelry (Patio Bellavista with it’s concentration of venues is wonderful), then return to retreat within it’s walls amidst the sounds of waterfalls and singing birds. Being a boutique hotel, the building itself is an historical estate, we felt like the sole visitors, rarely seeing anyone else. The daily breakfast was lovely, and on our last day, having stayed out late the night before, they brought the spread to our bed. We stayed in the San Cristobal Studio, with it’s in room vessel tub and balcony overlooking the pool, and found it hard to leave in the mornings because it was so relaxing. Owners Max and Will were warm and inviting, the entire staff helpful and attentive, and midday Pisco Sours in the Piano Lounge were a delight.

We arrived during the riots in Santiago, the staff went out of there way to ensure our safety and comfort. I have never slept in a more comfortable bed! Everything about this boutique hotel is gorgeous, the rooms, the lobby, the stairs, the gardens.... go there!

Great location in Bellavista, staff couldn't be more helpful or welcoming. Highly recommended. The pool is an oasis of calm on a hot day in the city. Be sure to take the funicular and teleferico cable car in the park next door.

I was very disappointed with my family’s stay at the Aubrey. I wouldn’t rate it much better than a backpackers. Under staffed, rooms dirty, rooms not designed well ( IKEA furniture throughout the room ) no hot water in the shower sometimes, door and window knobs falling off, I could go on forever. The thumping music from all the bars in the neighborhood until 4am is also a big negative. I’d never stay here again.

Yelp
THIS HOTEL IS CLOSED! Some sites still take bookings for it however the hotel has been closed for some time! It was lovely when it was open though! Book another similarly lovely hotel in barrio bellavista or lastarria.

Yelp
My friend and I stayed here during our last night of a ski trip to Chile and it was beyond charming. In short, this old mansion was purchased and remodeled into a lovely boutique hotel located at the base of the Santiago Funicular in the heart of Bellavista. I can't say enough about the staff! The hotel has a gate at the entrance with a very friendly security guard, who also helped with our luggage. Upon arrival the staff was warm and friendly, eager to help with any needs or recommendations. Both Bruno and Jason at the front desk were very charismatic and helpful! They helped coordinate transportation from the hotel to the airport the next day with the driver at the hotel. They were amazingly accommodating, granting us an extremely generous late check out so we could shower before our flight. The employee working the breakfast area was so chipper and happy, eager to satisfy any needs my friend and I had. The rooms are pretty, we had a nice balcony (although we weren't there long enough to take advantage of it), a nice, spacious and clean shower and other needed amenities. The hotel grounds are beautiful, pretty pool and patio area, flowers everywhere and I kept joking that I was going to move in :) The only things I would note are: - There is no elevator, which may be a problem for those who are unable to climb stairs. They may have rooms accessible with minimal stairs so I recommend asking if this is a concern. - There are flowers everywhere, which may cause issues for those with allergies - Since it is so centrally located, it can be a bit noisy at night because of the bustling nightlife. That being said, if I'm ever back in Santiago, I will definitely be staying here!

Yelp
I travel a ton but I never tire of the hunt for a terrific hotel, the sort of place that makes you feel like you're temporarily local even though you're many thousands of miles away from home. For months I had my eye on the Aubrey in Santiago, Chile. From the pictures it seemed to be an unpretentious rustic retreat with plenty of good design sense in a prime location. I loved the look of the pool (though I knew I was unlikely to make use of it since I was visiting in winter) and the piano lounge where they enticed me with the promise of complimentary Chilean pisco sours for hotel guests (I love little extras). When I arrived last month for a one night stay the Aubrey showed itself to be just exactly what I was after. The entire staff is super nice, yet also relaxed. The folks at breakfast are some seriously cheerful people (especially at such early hours) and will whip you up toast and eggs with all manner of accoutrements: avocado, tomato, mushroom, bacon. There's also tea, coffee, cake, fruit, meats, cheeses and cereals. And best of all, this breakfast of champions is included in the room rate (love that)! The Aubrey is well located in the culturally dense neighborhood that is Bellavista. Here you'll find no shortage of restaurants and when you're not eating, you can visit La Chascona, Pablo Neruda's famous home, or climb up to the top of San Cristóbal Hill to take in the view. I came back again this month for a longer stay and got severely delayed on my way. The kind folks at the Aubrey rescheduled my transfer from the airport and welcomed me warmly when I finally arrived. We hired the piano lounge for two days of a media tour and were accommodated handsomely. When I showed up sick on the second day and said I was cold they brought it a fire (I kid you not) to warm me up. They also made me a teapot full of hot toddy which helped me power through. In sum, if you're coming to Santiago and want to stay in an intimate boutique hotel in a bohemian neighborhood the Aubrey is it. NOTES FOR BUSINESS TRAVELERS - The wifi works well (and there's just one password for all of your devices). - Power outlets are not conveniently placed in rooms (mildly annoying). - Cabs are fairly easy to get nearby; airport transfer to the hotel is reliable (this is a good option if you've never been to Santiago). - It can be loud, if you're a really light sleeper the ambient neighborhood noise may be problematic.

Yelp
This has been my second stay at the Aubrey and while this last stay wasn't as great as my first, I still highly recommend it. First off, splurge and get one of the newer rooms that's accessed via a short bridge. That was my first stay though. This time around I paid ~260 for a Habitacion Constitución, one of the rooms that's part of the main house, just upstairs from the reception desk. I loved room 8 and while petite, it was bright and very comfortable. The bed is full sized, perfectly comfortable for just one person, in my opinion. The wifi worked really well from my room, added plus for anything needing to do work. The minus was a really big minus though. The neighborhood is wonderfully alive and active all the time, a great perk in being within walking distance to cool stuff. The downside is when the sun goes down, the untz-untz-untz-untz-untz begins. I couldn't sleep until 4am the first night due to the bass coming from the corner nightclub. Night 2 was no different and while I switched rooms, I ended up going 2 floors up to the loft (same corner of my original room). Again, little sleep. But let's talk about the pluses, because these minuses are avoidable if you ask to stay in a room further from the bass. The breakfast is fantastic and they'll make eggs to your liking. You'll also get fresh slices of avocado and tomato along with a delicious coffee and fresh juices. At night, you can lounge in the bar area (also gorgeous) with a glass of unforgettable Chilean Carménère and listen to the live piano. This is a great boutique hotel in Barrio Bellavista and I'd recommend it to anyone traveling for business of pleasure!

Yelp
This hotel experience was excellent in so, but so many levels. I ¨was forced¨ to have an unexpected 2 nights layover in Santiago de Chile after my flight back to the U.S. was cancelled due to the ¨Calbuco¨ volcano eruption. Let me tell you: I made the best decision by staying at this prime location and beautiful mansion! I knew about this hotel beforehand after reading an intriguing article in the Condé Nast Traveler magazine. The article is indeed inviting, yet it isn't until you visit this hotel that beautiful justice is served! The staff is there for you, always! Since we entered the site, we were greeted with royal kindness. They, the staff, all posses an outstanding load of professionalism, friendliness, and attention; they are all full of that humble ¨human touch¨ that could be easily missed in other city locations. The rooms are cozy, beautifully decorated, and clean. You are going to find that almost every room have a different character, so don't hesitate to ask the staff to tour the place upon arrival (if possible), and make sure you'd find that perfect one for you. The casona (mansion) is full of history, art deco, and warm settings. There're no shortage of patios, living spaces, a beautiful piano lounge, and a restaurant (don't you dare miss the delicious breakfast! Num, num!!)... and how to forget the pool?! Such is the jewel of this fabulous location: heated, well attended, clean, and relaxing. The address is just exquisite: @ BellaVista! ¨BellaVista¨ is a name that describes beautifully this location. Within boundaries of the city metropolis, yet apart for the rush and the noisy ¨centro¨ area. Green areas surround its unique streets, and there is no shortage of restaurants, gastronomic options, art, bars, and even a few discos for those who might like to hit the dance floor. (Hint: if you are planning to dance, be ready to stay awake later than usual... as in other places of South America, Chileans also start the actual party later at night- pass midnight in some cases- so be ready to be dancing/partying all night long if you desire to do such.) Overall, this hotel is excellency! We want to come back to Santiago de Chile, with more days to spare, and proudly enough we already know where we are going to be staying again. Thanks so much Aubrey Hotel: we'll be back!!! Raul Oakland, CA.

Yelp
The Aubrey Hotel is a beautiful boutique hotel located near several great places to eat. The Aubrey is quiet, artistic, and modestly renovated. The rooms are stunning with glass showers overlooking the private patio, comfortable beds, and a well stocked selection of drinks and snacks. Our highlight was the hours that we spent by the beautiful pool and patio soaking up the sunshine. The staff was great, hotel superb, and the pool was fantastic. High recommend!

Yelp
After reading so many rave reviews of this hotel, we were excited to arrive after a long trip. Unfortunately, we have mostly negative reviews to report. We had booked the "constitucion" room in the main house and when we arrived, were taken to a room on the top floor -- no bathtub, dirty rugs, strange windows. "From an ikea dumpster" is generous. When I talked to the receptionist, he defensively said we had been "upgraded". Who knows if that was the case, but we requested to move to the room we had booked-- #8 which was smaller but had nice windows and a bathtub. The day/night at the Aubrey only got stranger. It's obviously low season, but we wandered around the property like it was abandoned. My partner and I are young travelers who speak Spanish, but prefer nice hotels with personality. At the Aubrey, the staff treated us like backpackers and were informal, inhospitable and frankly unhelpful. The hype is not worth it.

Yelp
I agree with the other reviews. The property is wonderful and in a great location. It is all stairs. I don't think there are any accessible rooms, nor is the pool accessible. We spent New Year's Eve there and it was loud, but I guess with all the bars in the neighborhood, it is loud at night year round. The staff were helpful, but sometimes in not so helpful ways. A lot of the restaurants in the neighborhood closed after lunch on NYE, so the front desk said they could get us a dinner reservation at an Argentinean restaurant 20 min away by taxi. I said, heck no! We ended up ordering food delivery and eating on their lovely patio with drinks from their bar. My only other complaint was that our attic room was very close to the other two attic rooms that were being used by a family who kept us up at night and then woke us up in the morning with all their loud chatter and door slamming and parental whining.

Yelp
I absolutely adore this hotel! It is a beautiful building located in Bellavista. Breakfast is provided daily, the rooms and common areas are well kept. You won't need a car while staying here, there are many good restaurants and bars within walking distance. Ask for rooms with views to the park or the pool, you will not regret this.
