This hotel has a very classic pub vibe, which I really enjoyed. The rooftop terrace is a standout—great views and a perfect spot to relax. The food was amazing, definitely a highlight of the stay. The rooms are pretty and comfortable, with a cozy feel. Just keep in mind you’re right in the middle of the outback rocks, which comes with its pros and cons—like the occasional cockroach sighting. Overall, a great spot if you’re after character and good eats in a unique location.

Google
Great pub, staff are friendly and helpful. Can't comment on rooms as we stayed somewhere else. Location is good but does include a big hill or lots of steps so be prepared if you're not staying close. Close to the bridge if you walking around over even over it. Service was great, food was nice had pizza, garlic bread, chips and nachos over our 4 days in sydney. Drinks great, reasonably priced for a city pub, water on the bar is always helpful and always nice on a hot day. Lots of seating outside great again for those hot days. Would recommend a visit here.

We had a great lunch, really loved the old heritage pub. Staff very friendly and accommodating. The pub was very clean and tidy, lots of cutlery and napkins available at the tables. Appreciate that there were quite a few gluten free options available. The gf pizza base was really nice.

Google
This is a well located establishment with friendly and efficient staff. Quite the pizza menu on offer! The "Coat of Arms" pizza was delicious! A good selection of beers on tap. Well worth your time. Excellent *****

Google
Very good pub The staff was very gentle, good service and low waiting time. The coat of arms pizza is a must have. I refuel my water bottle and they give me ice. Really really friendly and nice pub to go and try the national Australia animals in a pizza (🇦🇺)

Google
Had the coat of arms pizza. It was awesome. Definitely worth trying at least once. Tastes good. Also good beer selection on tap!

Google
This hotel is in the perfect location, and it’s definitely value for money. The food in the pub is really good, the wines are nice, and of course there is a great beer selection. We loved ending our busy days on the roof top deck. The only complaint is the noise from the pub, take earplugs… but other than that the rooms are clean and comfortable and although the bathrooms are shared there are lots of them so it is never an issue.

Google
Why is this place rated so well? The food was expensive and very underwhelming. For the nachos, they used a liquid cheese sauce which tasted like synthetic plastic (why not melt real fresh cheese when you clearly use it for your pizzas?!) and a splat of guac at the top. It didn’t have much flavour. We also ordered the kangaroo and crocodile pizza. While the fillings were tasty, the crust was super tough and tasted like cardboard. I was very excited to come here but came away feeling like it was a tourist trap. Happy to pay a premium for good food but this fell way short of that.

Yelp
Visited this pub while on our honeymoon in Sydney. Ordered the Tasmanian honey & chilli soy chicken wings and Coat of Arms Pizza. Our first time trying emu & kangaroo. Food was fast and tasty.

Yelp
Place is historic and has character. Order at bar. Give them your table number. Food arrives fast. Delicious. Enjoy.

Yelp
It is allegedly, along with two other pubs, the oldest pub in Sydney but I guess that's up to what criteria you decide to use. Note that it's a bit of a climb up from the main Circular Quay area, especially if you take the shortcuts. Regardless, once you arrive, it's easy to see that this is a popular location. It's called a hotel because years ago, any establishment serving alcohol also had to provide lodging - so there you have it. The pub itself is old and smelly (probably why all the windows are open), with a unique two level bar structure. There was live music on a Saturday night and plentiful picnic tables along both sides of the building. Theres hardly a wait at the bar for a drink and they many selections on tap and by the bottle. You can also order drinks and food from a QR code at the table - which we ended up doing for some quick bites. Coat of Arms Pizza - half emu and half kangaroo and it was pretty good (keep in mind using pub food standards). The tomato sauce had a bit of a sweet flavor to it and the meat (lean, as expected) had good flavor. The pizza dough is the soft chewy variety that reminded me of what happens when you microwave leftover pizza. Crunchy Fries - wide cut and comes with tartar and ketchup. Easy to munch down and goes well with beer. Lastly, the male bathroom was quite disgusting and difficult to breathe in. And it wasn't even dark outside yet so who knows how often then clean or if it even gets worse has the crowds get more raucous. That's all...

Yelp
Like everybody else, I came here for the aptly named Coat of Arms pizza. It is a half-and-half pizza with emu meat on one side (with tomatoes) and kangaroo meat on the other side (with red bell peppers). I had to make this my first meal in Sydney on this trip, and here is why. The symbol on the national coat of arms of Australia is the picture of a kangaroo and an emu. Both animals are native to Australia, and neither animal can move backwards. So, legend has it that the symbol on the coat of arms was intended to represent a nation that is always moving forward. The pizza was very tasty, but the two meats were almost indistinguishable. My taste buds couldn't really discern the difference. This was probably because both meats were seasoned and cooked the same way, and had the same sauce drizzled on top, which might have masked the flavors of both meats. Service is very cordial and the atmosphere is relaxed. They also have a saltwater crocodile pizza for those who are particularly adventurous.

Yelp
The Australian Heritage Hotel quickly became one of our favorite pubs and we visited this place multiple times during our stay! The highlight is the Coat of Arms pizza which consists of half emu and half kangaroo with roasted tomatoes and charred peppers topped off with lemon mayo. My mouth is watering just thinking about this pie!

Yelp
Kat, the bartender was excellent. Made some great recommendations and very friendly. The Mortadella pizza was very tasty!!

Yelp
This is a pizza place in Sydney. Kinna cozy and casual place to spend your day. We are from the United States and we specifically stopped by here to try their half emu and half kangaroo pizza. We ordered a large whole pizza and a couple of local ipa beers. The staff members were helpful and friendly. We we ate outside at their outside tables and chairs seating area. It was sunny and quite a lovely day. We enjoyed eating our emu and kangaroo pizza. We were not disappointed. Both meats were tasty. The emu is on the sweeter side just they way i prefer it. They serve you quite a significant portion of emu and kangaroo meats, although I can eat more of them. This is the first time I tried emu.

Yelp
Stopping here based on Yelp reviews and recommendations from some locals. It was pretty quiet on the night we were there. We tried the Coat of Arms Pizza and enjoyed it! Also tried a few different Australian beers, loved the variety available! Bartenders were great! Only disappointment was the rooftop. It doesn't really have a view of the harbour, but we would still recommend trying this place if you are in Sydney!

Yelp
Great Australian themed pub only stocking Australian beers. Great pub meals, Aussie music and worth a visit if walking over the Sydney Harbour bridge and ideal for a beer after the walk.

Yelp
This Hotel features a pub/restaurant and it was awesome. It was located in the same block at YHA so easy to get to, bartenders were awesome, food came out in a timely manner. I enjoyed a beer from NSW while I waited for my food. Do yourself a favor and stop in to "The Aussie" at The Australian Heritage Hotel on Cumberland St in The Rocks...

Yelp
I so thoroughly enjoyed my emu and kangaroo pizza! The emu tasted like it had been marinated in wine and the kangaroo was a great mix of tasty game and beef. The salad was also yummy and filled w veggies, edamame, and just the right amount of creamy dressing. Local beer and ciders paired well.

Yelp
I was visiting Sydney staying with sister and brother in law, my brother in law and his friends whom I know invited me out one night and we visited your bar/restaurant on July 8th, 2016. The place is old and rustic, very nice location and we had lots of fun. The beers on draft were great, I really enjoyed the fact you have a selection of IPAs and generally dark beers. The food was good, not the greatest but good enough for a fun night with guys. was not a fan of the nachos (leave the nachos for us USA south-westerners) but fell in love with the kangaroo pizza and emu pizza. The duck pizzas however was too greasy and smelled too, never had dick pizzas so can't say it should or shouldn't smell. Would definitely recommend the place and come back when in Sydney again.

Yelp
Quick trivia - The Australian Coat of Arms has a kangaroo and an emu on it. These two animals were chosen because it is said that they cannot move backwards, only forward - which symbolizes progress. (But if you're Aussie, I'm sure you already know this, in which case, just bear with me) The Australian Heritage Hotel has something called, 'the coat of arms' pizza. So does anyone know why it's called that? You guessed it! It is topped with kangaroo and emu! (half emu & half pepper Kangaroo with red onion, bush tomato, capsicum & cranberries). This was my first time trying kangaroo or emu so I really have nothing to compare it to. It didn't really taste like any other meats I've had. It actually didn't really taste like anything - except for the sauce that they put on it, which just tasted really tart. I wasn't a fan. I wish I was able to taste more of the flavor of the kangaroo and emu. We also had the roast Peking duck pizza (mushroom, red onion, spinach, shallots, toasted sesame seeds, plum Hoi Sin sauce). They didn't skimp out on the duck slices, but they did overdo it on the hoisin sauce. The pizza was good but just a tad too salty from all that sauce. Last but not least, we also had the Mediterranean pizza (pesto & tomato sauce, garlic chicken, kalamata olives, spanish onion, roasted eggplant & mozzarella). This was pretty good too. You know how chicken on pizza is usually dry? This one wasn't. It seems like their other pizzas would be pretty good. just as long as you avoid the unconventional meats. Tip - they accept ressos on their website. My friends and I came in on a Monday at around 7:30 and it wasn't too packed. But I'm not sure how long the wait is for other nights.

Yelp
Ladies- looking to meet a cute Aussie? Then head over here after work or on the weekend as it is right across the street from the KGV Recreation Centre and there are plenty of post-workout men having beers with their buddies after playing basketball or working out. There are tons of beers -I mean tons and my husband (yep- I was not here for the hunky Aussies) got to drink some harder to find ones such as Schraers which he enjoyed. There is a lively crowd outside and live music. We had pumpkin topped pizza which was a little salty and the crust was so-so. Food I give a 3 - but adventurous eaters can try kangaroo or emu. The 4 star is for the the fun vibe and cute locals- gals included.

Yelp
I felt that this place was a very solid OK. They have a super impressive beer list which is fun if you are ready for a night of drinking but the food was pretty lackluster. We had The Australian pizza with crocodile. The small size has 4 pieces which is perfect size for an individual or for sharing if you plan to order another dish. The real winner of this dinner for us was the baked pumpkin salad that comes over arugula, goats cheese, hazelnuts, and rocket. We added haloumi to it which was good but, again, not great. The haloumi felt over grilled and a bit too tough. Nevertheless, the atmosphere here is very fun and relaxed. You order your food at the bar and it is brought to you as each plate is available. If for nothing else, come grab a seat outside and enjoy a drink with your friends.

Yelp
Honestly, I came here only to try the saltwater crocodile pizza! PIZZA - The crocodile didn't taste as bold as I thought it would, which probably was due to the Thai herbs and coconut cream present. Good, but next time I would go for something cheesier! If you don't want crocodile, there are other meaty pizzas such as: coat of arms (emu, kangaroo), pepper kangaroo, peking duck, and lamb. DRINKS - There are plenty of beer options! There will even be a recommendation for each of the pizzas too. A chill pub spot overall.

Yelp
We made reservations for dinner at the Australian Heritage Hotel. It was a good thing - it seemed pretty busy! The set up was a bit unexpected. It is very much a bar with many smaller rooms that make up the overall space. We were seated outdoors along the sidewalk. You order both food and drinks at the bar. They have a wide and eclectic variety of pizzas to try. We ended up getting a split between the chili and tandoori chicken. I had never had guacamole on a pizza before and it wasn't bad! I wasn't expecting the bar-like environment but maybe I didn't do enough research before coming. It wasn't really the relaxing atmosphere I had hoped to enjoy. 2 stars.

Yelp
I'm actually quite surprised that I can remember all the places that I've been despite the fact that it's taken me almost eight months to actually get around to writing a review on the place. Anyway, this place isn't bad, though everytime I have been here (which usually ends up being a Friday) it is pretty packed out, but then again it is the Rocks, and I have come to expect that from the good pubs in the rocks. The staff are actually really helpful, and even recommended their speciality beer, though for a speciality beer it wasn't actually all that good. It's an okay pub, but not one that I would be hurrying back to visit again.

Yelp
Does your passport have 100 beer stamps in it? Unless you're Irish, it probably doesn't. The Australian's does, though. You can pick your free beer passport up at the bar and drink your way through an even century of great Australian brews in whatever time frame you see fit, hopefully more than 24 hours although I heard Bob Hawke did it in seven but he's an Australian Hero. One of Sydney's rock star Rocks pubs, the best way to enjoy this joint is to head in for a prolonged Sunday sesh, start in the early arvo with some of their justifiably famous pizzas (you know you want to go crocodile and emu, you just know you do), and then grab one of the outside bench tables and sip your way through to dusk, making friends with nearby tables and passersby who wish they were having half as good a time as you clearly are. Other notable mentions: - Two Up here on ANZAC Day goes off. You've been warned. - The Australian Beer Festival they host every October also goes off. Consider yourself warned a second time.
google avatar

Tina K.

Yelp
I went to the Australian Heritage Hotel to try kangaroo and emu meats but left with a severe case of disappointment. The coat of arms pizza had very little meat, and the pizza dough itself was simply the worst I've had. Service was very minimal, so I can't really comment on that, but if you're going here just to try kangaroo and emu meats, do yourself a favor and just buy their jerkies from a grocery store.

Yelp
Always a great place to visit. You know that its heritage because the carpet is the original from 1824. This place is worn out and tacky, but honestly its the best type of worn out and tacky! First time were came here my partner was disappointed that she couldn't buy imported beer, but this is the AUSTRALIAN Heritage Hotel. Show your patriotism. The food is always hot and always tastes yummy. The Honey, Soy and Chill Chicken is finger licking good. Covered in sauce; its juicy, salty, sweet and spicy. You'll get a massive bowl to tuck into. Heads up, you will get sticky and you'll have to wash your hands once you're done. If you share this with a bowl of chips (fresh and crispy) its enough for two people, easily. Tried a kangaroo pizza (forgot the special name for it on the menu). It tastes decent for kangaroo meat, other strong flavoured toppings are used to help balance the strength of the protein. The base is soft and cheese has good elasticity. The pizza size is good for one very hungry people or can be shared between two people who are just mid-range hungry. The dual levels is a key element to this establishment. Scenario: You have a few drinks on the lower level, you need to visit the bathroom and you find out that the male toilets are on the upper level. The only was to reach that bathroom is via the treacherous curved stairs. Enough said.
google avatar

David H.

Yelp
Seat yourself and then order at the bar. Don't wait for someone to seat you. Ordered the coat of arms. Kangaroo tasted better than the emu, and although the emu was more tender, they were both quite tough. The pizza was small by American standards - our large pizza was an American small. The roasted pumpkin and beetroot salad with prawns was awesome. Definitely coming here again.
google avatar

Jeff C.

Yelp
I have been to the Australian about 5-6 times, and I have always had a great time. The atmosphere is quintessential Sydney, fun and casual. They have a nice selection of pints here, but in the end, it is all about the pizza. I took my 73 year old mother here after we did the Sydney Bridge Climb, and she couldn't get enough of their Kangaroo Pizza!!! I have had kangaroo before, but for my money, this is the best way to have kangaroo, nestled in yummy cheese and crust. We sat outside to take in what turned out to be a perfect day. The staff was very accommodating to my mother, explaining that kangaroos were not endangered and in fact delicious. With that she said, "Oh,let's give those little suckers a try then." And we were on our way to a perfect lunch and memory that I will always cherish..

Yelp
Our first pit stop of the Yelp Elite Peek Tour of the Rocks. Did you know that they had 140 beers? Well now you do. They also have a passport you can obtain and if you get all the beers drunk and signed off in your passport you get your name on a shiny plaque. What great incentive right? Well at least it's incentive to keep coming back. If only to try out a different beer on each visit. We went into the lower bar which is, as the name suggests, lower than the bar on the street above. The pub itself is cozy and well worth a visit, they had trivia on and there were quite a few people playing. They also do a bit of a decent spread. We had pizzas and chicken wings. The wings were lovely - I think more so because of the slight chilli surprise kick at the end. I wasn't expecting that! I had a slice of the vegetarian pizza & the tandoori chicken pizza. Both were equally delicious. Apparently you can also get a coat of arms pizza here. Emu on one side and kangaroo on the other. With a draw like that how can you stay away?!
google avatar

Mimi D.

Yelp
After hearing that Australians eat kangaroo, naturally, we had to go find a place that offered it up. Unfortunately, all the places we happened to cross paths with served up huge steaks that were too intimidating for any of us to want to order. Fortunately, we logged onto the webs and came across this hotel with multiple sites raving about the Coat of Arms, half emu/ half roo pizza that comes in a small size.... Perfectly enough for everyone to have a taste of both of em! We came, we tried and it was a good pizza... Flavor of the meat was slightly different but nothing super distinct that, if you were blindly served, you'd be able to guess was anything more than slightly off cow. For whatever reason, we had anticipated something that would have a stronger flavor, like rabbit or something. Anyway, pizza was good there and it was fun to try out! I did throw up a bit after our meal though but thats probably mostly because I don't normally eat meat lol.. Everyone else was fine :P We wandered around for about 5 min inside the bar area before finding out that there's no hostess and that you just order inside at the bar and find your own seating. Tables outside on the main road get filled pretty quickly but the tables down the side street were pretty open... likely due to the fact that half of the table are sitting on an uneven sidewalk.

Yelp
Great little small-town pub, with a nice variety of beers. The house lager is very nice. We stayed in the bed and breakfast upstairs, which was old and tired, but nice and clean, and the double bed was comfy enough. The shared bathrooms were clean, and never had to wait to use one. Would recommend. The staff were extremely friendly when checking in, and the bar staff too. Beyond reproach.
google avatar

Jimmy S.

Yelp
Came to try out their kangaroo pizza trying to find out what kangaroo meat taste like. Found put it's not the way to go. Ordered the half emu half kangaroo pizza, the pizza is tasty but the strong taste of the toppings covered the taste of the meat, I had no idea which bite was emu and which was kangaroo. Big selection of beers here, great place for group.
google avatar

Marck N.

Yelp
The Australian Heritage Hotel was one of the places I was researching for kangaroo meat earlier prior to my trip. I decided to put it in the back of my mind at the time as the main food offered are pizza's. Little to my surprise when we were walking around the Rocks area, there it was. How perfect I thought. My partner and I both wanted to eat lunch after a long morning sight seeing. We ordered the pepper kangaroo pizza and the selection of dips. The local beer I decided to have was the Fat Yak, while my partner ordered his usual Guinness. The selection of dips included a spicy bush tomato, hummus & baba ganoush with turkish bread. The bread was nicely toasted and fluffy. Out of the dips, I liked the spicy bush tomato and the baba ganoush. The bush tomato dip wasn't really spicy but more on the sweet side. The baba ganoush had a nice garlic flavor that stayed with me all day. The pepper kangaroo pizza was pleasing. The kangaroo meat was slightly spicy and it was tender. The pizza crust was crisp and not to doughy. The only thing that threw me off was that you have to pay for everything (food and beer) after you order it at the bar. But I guess that's the way it goes, as this place is really a pub.
google avatar

Dan P.

Yelp
The Australian is the quintessential Aussie hotel. Whenever I return from travelling overseas it's the place I visit first to ground me in good old Aussie culture. The split-level actually has the effect of turning the place into 2 separate bars, and quite often I will visit both when I go there, and hang out and enjoy the different vibes. They had a special brew on tap for The Ashes; they serve Coat of Arms pizza; and there is enough Aussie paraphernalia adorning the walls, bar and ceiling to have you naturalised on your first visit. The outdoor seating area is also sensational to relax and watch the world go by whilst you sip on a Scharer's lager. During the annual Beerfest or on Australia Day the streets surrounding The Australian turn into one gigantic human sardine tin, such is the iconic stature of the place. For tourists: You haven't visited The Rocks if you do not have a beer and a feed at The Australian.
google avatar

Yelp
Legendary pizzas! You will find a lot of unique toppings such as kangaroo, peking duck and crispy pork,...It's also the first time I've seen pizzas with Asian toppings and sauce. They are very delicious and worth trying! They have 2 of my favorite pizzas (peking duck and crispy pork) in Australia so far. There is a funny thing about the crispy pork pizza. There are more apple than pork in the pizza and it's too sweet for a gourmet pizza. I should call it dessert pizza instead of gourmet pizza since it's sweet. However, I still love it. So tasty! Average pizza price is $25 so it's quite pricey. Psss. If you like Asian food, you must try their peking duck pizza.

Yelp
A group of 4 of us landed at 6:40 this morning in Sydney from LA and by 11:15 we were starving. We had heard about the coat of arms pizza and decided that would be our first meal in Australia. Needless to say, we were impressed. We arrived shortly before lunch started (since we were starving and all), but the bartender offered us drinks while we waited for the kitchen prep to finish. We ordered the coat of arms pizza, the pepper kangaroo pizza and the Australian pizzas along with crunchy chips and tomato sauce. By far the favorites were the coat of arms and the pepper kangaroo. Meat was well marinated and the flavors of both pizzas were well balanced. Not a fan of the crocodile pizza though, but maybe that's just how croc tastes in general. Overall nice, low key place with a great staff.
google avatar

Auvro P.

Yelp
It's wasn't actually that bad. Just a quick dinner with class mates. However the potion size was a smaller than expected. I ordered calamari, $18? Just for sea food? No chips of salad with that? Sort of disappointing. And some vegetarian options would have been nice too. But staff was friendly and easy going. Food came out on time, and people were happy.

Shawna R.

Yelp
The Australian Heritage Hotel was right next to my hostel, and the first restaurant I visited on my trip to Sydney. Since I'd practically just gotten off my flight from Los Angeles, I was looking for something light. The man behind the bar suggested the quinoa and baked pumpkin salad with avocado. I had jet lag, so I was happy to go along with whatever he recommended. And I'm so glad I did! The salad was fresh and lovely--hit just the right spot. All the food I had in Australia was amazing, but I still think about this salad. So that's saying a lot.
google avatar

Yelp
We had the coat of arms and a nice summer IPA. Excellent emu and kangaroo!! Yes, emu not menu. Would definitely come again; outdoor seating
google avatar

Tim D.

Yelp
It's a classic, isn't it? You're as likely to find locals as tourists, and good enough: it's a fine example of an Aussie pub, with more than a hint of British boozer inside (wooden seats, dark panels, some ornate glass). The brews on tap go from the staples to the rotating unusual guest ales (they have some great lesser-known Little Creatures beers when I was here last). The food is good, too. They're known for their pizzas, in small and sharing sizes, especially the emu, duck, and croc. But their chicken wings are spicy, tender, and a pretty hefty portion for a shared starter plate. Lots of outdoor seating around both sides of their sharp corner spot, which gets great views along the Harbour Bridge. Happy people go to the Australian.
google avatar

Lucas A.

Yelp
We enjoyed our time here. The beer selection is decent, but the main draw to me was the kangaroo pizza. It tastes like skirt steak, and it was a good meal. Try it while you are in the city. It's something uniquely Aussie.
google avatar

Leah C.

Yelp
How can you not feel cool while having a schooner at one of Sydney's oldest pubs, possibly in the same exact spot where tired soldiers nursed their ales after the First World War. Yes, the Australian Hotel has stood on the iconic Chamberlain corner for more than 100 years, but it's location was on George Street prior to that, making this the oldest license in Sydney. I can drink to that! There is so much old time charm in this pub and I, for one, am glad they've changed very little over the years. Lining the top of the bar are old beer cans that convince you of the pub's heritage and authenticity. It's not pretty, it's not trendy, but it certainly is awesome. If you're peckish, there's quite a spirited menu here that will make even the more foreign of foreigners feel true blue in no time. How do you feel about crocodile on your pizza? You might find yourself ordering this crazy item just for the novelty of it. And for $19.50 for a regular, go for it! Share your croc pizza with a friend in hopes to disburse the bad karma related to eating this beast. Just don't head up to Northern Territory anytime soon.

Yelp
Wide variety of beer at a fair price. Order drinks/food at the bar and sit where you please. Great place to try "kangaroo". Overall the menu consisted of somewhat standard bar food. The location was good and gets very crowded on the weekends. Good place to go and hangout for a while.
google avatar

Eric B.

Yelp
This is a fun little bar nestled in a great part of town. It gets pretty busy around dinner time and the beer selection is fantastic. The food and service left something to be desired. We ordered some take out so we could take it back to our hotel and we had some beers while we waited. It took 50 minutes for them to bring us our order which was a lot longer than we were told or expecting. To make it worse our food was barely warm when we got it and it seemed like it had just been sitting somewhere for a very long time.
google avatar

Kenson K.

Yelp
We just happened on this place as we were exploring Sydney near our hotel. It looks like an old saloon/brothel/inn of the 1800s. It was a nice sunny day so we opted to sit outside after ordering our beer and food. Again, we had to have kangaroo so we had the peppered kangaroo pizza. Quite tasty and it goes well with Guiness, I may add.

Yelp
If you are visiting Sydney and want a taste at crock, emu or kangaroo, this is the place to go! These Australian delicacies are paired with the best flavors to create unique special pizzas. The most popular here are the Coat of Arms pizza (emu and kangaroo on top of a tomato sauce and pepper and cheese sprinkled pizza) and the Crocodile pizza (thinly sliced crock on top of a lime Thai flavored ingredient combo). If I had to recommend one, it would be the Coat of Arms -- the roo is cooked really nicely, making it not tough, and the flavor pairing of the spices and sauce is really spot on with the emu topping as well! The crust is also really thing and crisp on their pizzas. Just don't go to the zoo and see these animals before eating these pizzas, haha.

Yelp
Having been out all day, wandering in the sun and checking out the sites of the North Shore, I decided that given the weather a walk across the bridge was in order. Then as serendipity stepped in, the Australian Heritage Hotel appeared offering me the perfect option for lunch. If you were unaware, while this classic pub is known for the wide variety of beer on tap and behind the bar, they also make awesome pizzas. While not the most massive pizza ever (and thus the 3 stars not 4), if you want to tuck into a duck, chorizo (pic http://frid.co/qxW9PR ), or perhaps even a kanga pizza, then this is your place. I often use this pub as a great place to take tourists who want to experience something that they can only do in Australia. If you have not been here before I recommend checking it out.

Yelp
This a a great Aussie Rocks Pub people. If you are thirsty .... hungry .... enjoy some banter & chit chat then head down here and park yourself. Heaps of yummy food to choose from .... so many beer choices ..... great spots indoors and outdoors to watch the world go by. Keeping it short as all that needs to be said .... has been .... It's a fun place with noise & atmosphere to match.

Yelp
My wife and I loved this friendly place! It's a tad confusing at first, but the staff is more than happy to help. The Coat of Arms pizza (with kangaroo and emu) was excellent.

Yelp
This was one of the places I was most excited to go to when I started planning our trip to Sydney because I really wanted to try their emu and kangaroo pizza (called the "coat of arms") as well as their crocodile pizza. I had made reservations but since we got there right when the restaurant opened there was no one else there. Service is minimal and you order your food from the bar. Unfortunately, the restaurant ended up being out of crocodile so we went with the coat of arms and the crispy bacon pizza instead. Both were okay, not much to write home about. The problem was half way through eating the pizza we found two long strands of black hair baked into the dough and cheese (meaning there was no way it was our hair that had accidentally fallen into the pizza). Others in my party quickly stopped eating and I thought they were being silly at first and tried to eat around the hairs but they seemed so woven throughout the pizza that I soon gave up as well.

Yelp
Although casual, we found the bar and restaurant outdoor, indoor area very appealing and fun to hang out at. The drinks are well-made and the food is top notch. For the price I'd rather eat here than at one of those expensive steak houses.

Yelp
The Australian Heritage Hotel is a must go if you want to try Kangaroo for the first time. The hotel is located across a recreation center on the corner of Gloucester and Cumberland. For first time visitors, you grab your seats (inside or outside) and order your food and drinks at the bar. The bar had dozens of beer to choose from and ordered what was recommended on the menu for the Kangaroo and Tandoori pizza. My girlfriend and I were skeptical in trying the more rare cooked a la carte Kangaroo, so we tried the pizza first in addition ordered the chicken wings. Both pizza and wings were great though a bit on the oily side. I highly recommend visiting here. Atmosphere is chill and staff is nice.

Yelp
Terrible pizzas and overpriced. This place used to be really good back in the day but not anymore. Decent but not great beer list.

Yelp
Came here to try their famous Coat of Arms pizza - half kangaroo and half emu! Pizza was decent but nothing special...I guess it was just cool to try. It's more of a pub than restaurant so expect more beers than service. Also, the entire internet says they open at 10:30 but we got there right at opening to find out that they don't serve anything until 11:30...so that's extremely useless. Note: located less than a 5 minute walk from the BridgeClimb so a good option for a pre or post meal.
