We got there at 7am and were lucky enuf to get raspberry, custard and guava malasadas and they were delicious. Not too sweet and good amount of filling. The pineapple upside cake is to die for! Mac nut sticky bun was very hardy and good. Blueberry scone is good for dipping in your coffee. Nice lady at counter. Kinda hidden but worth getting up and finding.

Google
The Bakery is small. Nice people working there. We were able to get the pineapple upside down doughnut. The second time we visited. Parking is very limited. The donuts here did not taste extremely sweet to me.

Google
This place is awesome, been here for years and years (1970s) and its obvious the new owners are fixing it up. All that aside the breads are great, fresh and made on site. They make goods for local hotels, but have tons of great pastries, croissant, cookies, muffins and even strudel you can purchase. We took an assorted box and snacked on it the next few days and great meeting the owner Charlie Owen. Keep up the good work!

CASH/VENMO ONLY. This place is definitely a hole in the wall. It is flanked between industrial and furniture warehouses. We got several goodies: almond croissant, blueberry danish, coconut danish, and bacon/egg/cheese croissant. The breakfast croissant was made in front of me and it was the highlight for sure. There was only one person at the front when I was there so service was slow but I was in no rush. The other standout was the almond croissant. It was not double baked but it was flaky and it had almond paste inside so very strong almond taste if that’s your jam. The danishes were a bit too doughy for me. For about $17 for everything, I say it is a great deal if you are looking for a pastry fix or a great breakfast croissant.

Google
A true hole in the wall in an industrial park with chickens and thrift shops and now defunct Sugar Train. Super easy to get to also. Excellent pastries and I wish I would have found earlier. The baby pineapple upside down cake is perfect as a breakfast desert to go with Drift coffee around the corner. Sorry shameless plug.

Google
Went for the delicious malasadas and was not disappointed! There were three filling options (vanilla, chocolate and guava) and all were tasty. Get there really early though, at 6:45 there was already a line out the door. Also make sure you have cash or venmo on hand, several people did not notice the signs and it caused a hiccup at the register. Service was friendly and genial though, would absolutely go back.

Google
They have a small selection of delicious donuts. They're pretty big. Also try the sandwiches, I recommend ham or bacon with egg(s) on croissant. Google Maps navigation will take you to a pretty round about way to get there and then expect you to park on the side of a busy road that's not possible. They're actually located on the other side of the building so turn in at the closest intersection and use street parking. They're cash only but also take Venmo.

Google
We had a lunch/whale watching tour booked so we wanted a light breakfast. My husband found The Bakery. It's not in a fancy area (surrounded by car repair shop type places) and parking was a bit of a pain but we found street parking nearby. When we first walked in I was a little disappointed that there were no tables inside. Once we saw the pastries - OMG! we were completely blown away by the quality and huge selection. The staff there is so friendly, and were told there were picnic tables outside. We sat outside at a table with an older gentleman. He was funny and nice and told us that he and his wife started The Bakery about 40 years ago. He told us lots of stories about getting started. As the neighborhood got older and parking got more difficult, they started selling more to stores/shops/restaurants that resold it. They make over 1k of doughnuts every night. So, you can go someplace fancy and pay a lot for these or you can go to the source where the prices are surprisingly inexpensive. The entire experience was awesome. We live on Oahu and I wish we could get his pastries here. Try this place, you may get luck and get to visit with the owner outside.

Yelp
You'll most likely need to order ahead of time, I.e. the day before. This is one of the only if not the only bakery's in the Lahaina/Kaanapali area that sells Malasadas. Pretty good flavor, especially the vanilla cream and chocolate filled. The plain was just that, sort of plain, doughy.
google avatar

Yelp
Sadly they have dozens of options but very limited availability for options. Sadly waited outside the location for 20-25min waiting for the bakery to open to find out they don't have any options listed online.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious bakery! We went near closing so there weren't many options left, but we picked 4 to share and they were all solid! In order of my favorites - lilikoi donut, ube donut, custard filled donut. We also had pineapple upside down, which was good but I really liked the donuts and would probably skip this one next time. For the 4 it was about about $14 which I felt is reasonable! Of note, parents don't like many places and are picky but loved these donuts! That's a huge win in my book. Cash or Venmo only. Be prepared! Some parking outside, all parallel, no lot. Easy to find.

Yelp
I saw all the positive reviews and amazing pics on Yelp last night, while staying the night in Lahaina. So first thing this morning, my partner and I stopped here for a quick breakfast. I wanted to get one of everything, especially the sticky bun and ube glazed donut, but didn't want to have an upset stomach the whole day. So I went with a plain bagel toasted and a sesame bagel. The bagels were good but nothing to set them apart or rank them above prior bagels that I've enjoyed (I'm a big bagel fan). My partner also enjoyed her lilikoi glazed donut. Would definitely want to come back here again to try some of their more flavorful concoctions. Oh, and the service was fast and friendly.

Yelp
We love coming here, great assortment of morning goodies for us all. They have Kraken coffee cart at the end of the street along with food trucks for lunch. It's a sweet spot !! Highly recommend getting there early.

Yelp
One of the best places to get a chocolate croissant in Lahaina, I found this place to be quite a gem ! Loved the pastries we got and enjoyed every bite . Yes cash only . The location was kinda tricky but we found it . The earlier you get there the better . Enjoy! :)
google avatar

Yelp
A nice assortment of donuts, breads, and malasadas. Get there early or order ahead. Great customer service!

Yelp
If you are looking for delicious pastries in Maui, this is the place to go. It is tucked away down an industrial road which made me question if I was in the right place but I definitely was! I visited early-ish around 8:00 on a weekday and there was a bit of a line but it wasn't out the door and the team of 2 up front moved fast alternating between taking orders and checking people out. They had a large variety but some items were down to the last item or had already run out. I was looking for Poi rolls and unfortunately they didn't have any that day but I was lucky to find they had a few ube glazed left! I added a Lilikoi glaze, pineapple upside down cake, a bread pudding, guava malasada and chocolate sprinkle to take back to the family. All were good but I would make a special trip for the ube, lilikoi and pineapple treats. The guava malasadas were also very good with ample filling that oozed out as you but in. I'd probabaly pass on the bread pudding and chocolate glaze in the future. Their other European pastries and breads all looked delicious as well. You could tell everything was fresh at the rate it was leaving the store and the bustle back in the kitchen. One note if you visit, they don't take credit cards. It's cash or Venmo only so be prepared! It's marked that way up front but I saw at least one person get to the counter and not realize then have to run to their car to be able to pay. Worth trying, go early and bring cash!

Yelp
I was really looking forward to the masaladas, unfortunately I think we got an old batch. Very dry and underwhelming. The reviews here were good so i was in high expectations and got I think 8. We had to toss, not worth the calories.

Jstaff S.

Yelp
Very nice people that work there! Super helpful as well with recommendations. We knew exactly what we wanted going in there but they were helpful to people who didn't know what they wanted. Recommend the malasadas (one of each flavor), pineapple upside down cake, apple macadamia cake, and there was a treat that looks like a purple donut they recommended that was very good! Grab some treats and sit by the water as the Lahaina shopping strip

Yelp
I actually came here 3 times trying to grab some masada and was successful the 3rd time (kinda). Our first time, we came around 8am and I was right behind the person who took the last malasada, so I was devastated. I ended up getting the california roll and a pineapple upside down cake. The pineapple cake was moist and sweet, little sticky but pretty good. The california roll was like a cinnamon roll shape bit with croissant dough and drizzle with chocolate. This one was standard as well. 2nd attempt, I woke up a little late but decided to call to see if they had any malasada and they were sold out again... 3rd attempt, I decided to get there around 730am. As I came in, I saw some malasada on the back counter and was excited. When I asked to buy them, the owner told me they were reserved and I should have called ahead. I was devastated again, but I told the owner of my failed attempts and maybe he felt bad, but he decided to let me have one of the reserved malasada!!!!! I was super happy. I ended up getting the lilikoi malasada. It wasn't fresh malasada as it's been out for a bit, but I have to say, it's basically the best 'non-fresh' malasada I EVER had, hands down. It was still soft, not greasy, the lilikoi flavor was not strong and not overly sweet. So I can see why it gets sold out easily. I'm so glad to have gotten one

Yelp
Cash only and if you want fresh Malasadas then you need to get there early. The bakery is just a little store front with a single table inside and a few outdoor ones, and it's in pretty industrial area. The Malasadas are amazing though, great dough texture and perfect amount of sugar. I recommend grabbing a few and then getting coffee at the Kraken truck up the street. It makes for a great morning in Maui!

Yelp
Lemme reference this, I did some work here and on my way out as an act of goodwill/community I bought a package of shortbread cookies. One of the best shortbread cookies I have ever eaten. These cookies where surprising thick but despite it's thickness the were not too hard. The cracked when I applied pressure with my teeth but only where my teeth were and did not crumble all over the place. Perfect texture. It's flavor was awesome too, not too sweet or buttery. But what really impressed me was it's clean taste and aftertaste. Staff is really friendly too. Definitely gonna return.

Yelp
You have to get there early, parking is a pain, and the selection is small, but boy it it worth a visit to this cult bakery in Lahaina. I bought the apple strudel and the pineapple upside down cake and both were delicious. The apple in the strudel still had a little bite to it, the pastry was flakey and it was topped with a delicious sticky jammy topping. Yum! The upside down was moist, slightly dense but also light at the same time, and sticky and moreish, with literally a cherry on top! I was early so they still had malasadas, and a great showcase selection of donuts, croissants, fruit flans, etc. All drool worthy and I will definitely be a return customer. Will be buying the choux swans next time :) The lady at the front desk was extremely friendly, and yes it is cash only.
google avatar

Yelp
They didn't have croissants, but we got a couple of malasadas, buttered bagel, blueberry scone and a sticky bun on the way to the airport our last morning and it hit the spot. The cashier was super friendly.
google avatar

Erin J.

Yelp
Dry. Hardly any filling. Out of a dozen donuts, our group of four ate half a donut each and the box sat on the counter for the next few days. Total bummer.
google avatar

Yelp
Always stopped at the bakery with my daughters every morning while visiting Maui. We'd stock up for the day. I am praying that they survived the fires and everyone is safe. Fantastic people, amazing baked goods of all kinds.
google avatar

Laura C.

Yelp
Deceiving. Display case shows fully piped, mouth watering masaladas; but looks can be deceiving. After they take your order they pull from the baking rack in the back; there is barely any jam in the masaladas. Also got the bagel sandwich. Bagel sandwich is very meh. Super breast and not chewy. Just bready.
google avatar

Paige K.

Yelp
Terrible malasadas with no filling. I was to excited to try this bakery and bought 4 malasadas. When I brought them home and cut 1 open, there was just the smallest bit of the guava filling in it. I cut open the rest, and they were all cheaply filled like the first one. Avoid this bakery if you're going for their malasadas; you'll be disappointed like me.

Yelp
**Cash Only Parking: street parking We drove by The Bakery Lahaina couple of times and decided to try it on our last day in Maui. We scrolled through the photos on Yelp and got really excited over the pineapple upside turn cakes and expected to try other pastries. However, I was kind of disappointed. We went there on a Tuesday morning, around 9:00 AM. There wasn't must selections and they didn't have the pineapple upside turn cake. The worker said the baker makes whatever he/she feels like. So, don't expect too much. I recommend calling ahead of time to see what they have. Since we waited in line, we decided to get something. We got a taro roll, apple danish and cherry danish. The taro roll was flavorless. Taste like regular bread with slight sea salt. But the taro roll was pretty soft! The danish pastries were okay. Nothing special.
google avatar

Tina A.

Yelp
Quite possibly some of the best baked goods I've ever had. Went after 8 on a Tuesday and they "only" had mango cream puffs and Passion fruit eclairs. We got one of each and ordered Plain and filled (chocolate and vanilla custard) malasadas and a macadamia nut sticky bun for the next day. That cream puff was unbelievably delicious. My kids devoured the eclair, so I only got a tiny taste of yummy tart/sweetness. Came back Wednesday and picked up our goodies. The chocolate ganache filled malasada was so good, I know I'll be craving it for a long time. Every blooming thing was incredible. The staff was super friendly and gave perfect recommendations. Ordering ahead was definitely the way to go for this girl who doesn't want to get up so early on vacation.
google avatar

Dee S.

Yelp
The Malasadas go really fast, so get there early! They have different flavors as well. The staff is super friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
They were very patient with me here and the sourdough was great, better than it looked actually. I got the last coconut bagel which was average; I tasted no coconut. She tried to sell me one already cut open. Seriously? Um, no thanks. The cream puffs were ok with very little sugar--even the chocolate one--which I appreciated, but they weren't anything to write home about. The cream filled donut with a smear of strawberry flavoring looked nice and my four year old enjoyed it but he doesn't discriminate too much, to be perfectly frank. The bill for all of these things was around $30. As I tried to hurry I didn't check the bills she gave back to me. I gave her a tip, and only after did I notice that I got a bill ripped in half I couldn't use, just to stick it to me possibly (?) So while it was all fine and the bread was good, I can't say that I would venture out of my way to come here again. And no, I didn't get to try any of the Hawaiian donuts that everyone raves about. Apparently, they sell out at 8 am!
google avatar

M H B.

Yelp
Always delectable freshly baked breads and sweets. Their chocolate eclairs are superb.

Todd N.

Yelp
We got there early, as their website suggests everything is made fresh daily, and they may run out. Unfortunately, that doesn't paint the whole picture. They only had about a third of what is listed. No croissants, no cinnamon rolls, and no banana bread. In fact, when I asked about the banana bread, the lady said, "oh, is that still listed?" I'm sure their food is pretty good, but don't count on much of a selection, no matter what time you get there. Disappointing.
google avatar

Dan F.

Yelp
Arrived early, limited selection of pantries. Selected a donut, almond croissant, cherry pastry and muffin. The croissant was not at all fluffy and was hard. Tasted day old. The donut was not fluffy or airy more like a cake donut, the muffin was nothing special. Pass on this place. We will stick with Stillwells bakery, Awesome place.
google avatar

Wendy T.

Yelp
Really good malasadas and donut! Nutella was just meh but the lilikoi donut and malasadas were v good! So were the cream fillings. CA roll was really good. Get there super early or call and preorder a day before

Alex M.

Yelp
We found it hard to find good Malasadas. We went to Home Maid Bakery in Kihei and the Korean server was not nice, her attitude was 'How dare you ask for fresh Malasadas, I really don't eant to serve you", we won't be going there again thst's for sure. Thankfully we found The Bakery in Lahaina where the Malasadas are larger, and the fillings excellent so that's going to be our Malasada run any time we're in Maui. Would thoroughly recommend it, they also had a good selection of pastries and cakes to suit everyone's taste.
google avatar

jaimito t.

Yelp
Do you remember the soup episodes in Seinfeld?. That's how you had to order with the original owner. My last time at this place was four years ago. And today, I was pleasantly surprised with the new owner. She was very tentative to the customers and "smiled". I got a bit of everything from their pastries, and a couple of their bread offerings. Very tasty pastries and bread was great for breakfast.
google avatar

Bailey G.

Yelp
Fresh and delicious donuts. We got here right when they opened on a Monday leaving Lahaina on our way to Hana. The staff were all very friendly and the bakery definitely has a historic feel. The guava malasadas were amazing - just the right balance of chewy/airy dough and the perfect amount of jelly filling. We also had a cinnamon twist and a malasada with cream filling - both were tasty as well! The are CASH only!! We did not realize this and had to run back to the car to grab money. Just keep that in mind if you plan to visit.
google avatar

MajkaJugovic ..

Yelp
Delicious donuts. Really hit the spot! Owner was super friendly too. Will come back next time in Maui.
google avatar

Kyon Z.

Yelp
Went there on our vacation. Was looking for Malasadas and found this bakery on Yelp. We went there around 11, and of course they were sold out! So we preordered for the next morning. Didn't have time to take a nice photo, they taste much better than they look! So worth the wait!

Scott M.

Yelp
Having a milestone birthday is always a special event. But what made it even better was Charlie's team in helping create a "Kanak Attack Cuz" Malasadas Chantilly Tower Cake. After getting 4 dozen custom-sized and filled malasadas, my sister went to work dipping them in white and dark chocolate. Some of the white and most of the dark were given as favors at the party. While people say to eat malasadas right away... let me tell you, a few of those chocolate-coated stragglers that didn't make it into bags... well let's just say, those bad boys were awesome for days. PS: If you attempt to copy, be sure to have some bamboo skewers handy to bind everything together or you will be chasing them around the room. Mahalo!

Yelp
Oh so good. Little shop, but find it and enjoy. Take cash and be ready to order - the lady is a little impatient but friendly enough. I would advise that you choose an assortment of items, as there are so many amazing baked goods. This bakery is hard to find but GPS will take you right to it. Don't be shy. There is usually a local hanging out on the porch. Just ask if you have any questions. Everyone is friendly. Good idea to have someone else driving while the passenger jumps out and grabs an order to go. Not much parking in this area.

David G.

Yelp
So disappointed I've lived here over 40 years and have enjoyed Harold's fantastic, bakery goods!!! Harold is known for their baguettes and their fantastic pastries ! Heads up if you call their phone number they'll ask you to leave a message. The bummer is they don't listen to the message machine from my experience. If you were thinking you're going to get a crusty French baguette you're not. You can get the same baguette at Safeway in my opinion. so sad.

Karen M.

Yelp
Yummmmmmmmmmm! I dream of their super delicious pineapple bagel! So unique and flavorful!

Michael H.

Yelp
We stopped in while on vacation. They only take cash, but are also the most reasonable prices on the island. We enjoyed the guava and cream filled cinn/sugar donuts. The place is in a weird location, so expect to search for parallel parking options.
google avatar

Brittany L.

Yelp
Went here specifically for the malasadas. They will sell out fast so if you want a vanilla cream one go early, otherwise you'll get a plain or jelly. They are not typical malasadas (at least the kind we've had) as they are about double the size. Their bread is quite good too though! One other quirk, they only take cash or Venmo.
google avatar

Catherine C.

Yelp
Delicious local bakery, stopped for a quick breakfast on our way to Hana. Almond Croissant was delicious! My husband had an everything bagel with cream cheese - highly recommended!

Kathryn K.

Yelp
Best bagels on the island! Never been to their store, but it must be amazing. I can't wait! You can get their bagels at Down To Earth in Kahului.
google avatar

Tammy W.

Yelp
Delicious, fresh, and friendly. It was exactly what my family was looking for on our vacation. Yummy doughnuts, the muffins were great, and the cinnamon roll was good too. The owner was friendly and fun too. Would definitely go back next time we are in Maui.

James S.

Yelp
The best local bakery in the area. The Mac nut sticky buns are just outstanding, and the rest of the family loves the plain & filled malasadas. The service was quick, and always polite. Thank you all!

Dan W.

Yelp
We got here a little late (10 am) but scored some malasadas and bagel sandwiches. All of the baked goods were incredible. The bagels were light and taste great toasted.
google avatar

D C.

Yelp
Best bakery in town! Love all the sweets!!! Price is very reasonable and with varieties to choose! Excellent service as well!!!!
google avatar

Jenner B.

Yelp
Oh yea! I stop here a few times to get breakfast every time I travel to Maui. The place is local and they have special pastries based on local ingredients! They have pineapple pound cakes that are so juicy and moist. They are topped with freshly harvest pineapples... the juice drips and smoothers the cake. Omg it's to die for. One of these is the perfect meal before or after a few hours of surfing, ‍ or hanging out by the beach. I also recommend the taro puff cakes which are not as sweet but still perfect! Moist hot and delicious it melts in your mouth. The place is also very simple. They open early and sell out most of their baked goods. The staff is real chill too. Just tell them what you want and they'll get you a fresh one!
google avatar

Steven B.

Yelp
The Bakery Lahaina is great!! The coconut danish dough was like eating puff pastry. Our blueberry muffin had some lemon in it and was not overly sweet! The bread pudding was delicious. We loved this place. The woman who helped us was sweet. At the end of the day, they donate the baked goods not purchased to the Salvation Army. This place is a little off the tourist strip but come anyway. It's just a block and a half off the highway. Come!
google avatar

Katie S.

Yelp
Someone posted they sell NY style bagels, that person was wrong. It wasn't the worst bagel I've had but it was not a true NY style bagel by any means. Do make sure to bring cash.. I went right when they opened and there were only 5 or so options of food/donuts. Not sure when they bring out the goods but so you know there might not be much when they open. Malasadas we're tasty. They only had plain and guava when I went. Worth a stop overall, just don't get excited based on what others show if you go early. Which is sort of funny because everyone also says they sellout if you go late. So good luck!

mmgoodkitty m.

Yelp
So disappointed. My mom loved this place. We went here yesterday and I got a Malasada- Jam "filled", banana bread, double chocolate chip muffin, blueberry muffin, sticky bun, everything else was sold out except a couple of eclairs and donuts. I could tell the donuts were made there but looked at the muffins and I thought to myself, those are from Costco. But then thought there's no way they would do that. WRONG! My kid eats those muffins on the daily. I know them like the back of my hand. Double chocolate muffin was in the exact same liner Costco uses, the same size, the same chocolate chips (only on the top), and the same flavor and dryness. Went in trash. Blueberry muffin, the same. Only not as dry. Malasada was good- but less than a 1/4 tsp of jam. Banana bread. No nuts is a plus but my moms is WAY better. It was also dry. Sticky buns went in the trash too. VERY meh. Waste of $42.

Yelp
OMG! Molasadas too die for! Check them out to get your sweet fix. Cinnamon rolls used with croissant dough not frosted with traditional frosting but perfect just the way they are. Sweet but not too sweet. Yes! You won't be disappointed. Cute little shop worth the find. Open early too!
