I actually came here 3 times trying to grab some masada and was successful the 3rd time (kinda).
Our first time, we came around 8am and I was right behind the person who took the last malasada, so I was devastated.
I ended up getting the california roll and a pineapple upside down cake. The pineapple cake was moist and sweet, little sticky but pretty good. The california roll was like a cinnamon roll shape bit with croissant dough and drizzle with chocolate. This one was standard as well.
2nd attempt, I woke up a little late but decided to call to see if they had any malasada and they were sold out again...
3rd attempt, I decided to get there around 730am. As I came in, I saw some malasada on the back counter and was excited. When I asked to buy them, the owner told me they were reserved and I should have called ahead. I was devastated again, but I told the owner of my failed attempts and maybe he felt bad, but he decided to let me have one of the reserved malasada!!!!! I was super happy.
I ended up getting the lilikoi malasada.
It wasn't fresh malasada as it's been out for a bit, but I have to say, it's basically the best 'non-fresh' malasada I EVER had, hands down. It was still soft, not greasy, the lilikoi flavor was not strong and not overly sweet. So I can see why it gets sold out easily. I'm so glad to have gotten one
