THE BAR IN FRONT OF THE BAR

While looking at the map of the area, I found this place that showed up as top 100 bars in the world so we decided to visit. We only had drinks outside since the weather was really nice. Both of us ordered from the special suggestions menu and both of us were thoroughly impressed by our drinks. While they were more expensive than other places you can probably find nearby, they also were special enough to warrant the price and they did not break the bank either. Cool place with great service and the inside looks really nice with an out of this world decor. Definitely worth a visit!!

The only bar in Athens we went to twice. The staff was very friendly and capable. The drinks were delicious. My particular favourite was the Truffle Old Fashioned. I also had a Tangerine Martini which was very good (though less remarkable). My wife had a virgin mojito (they called it something else, but this was essentially what it was) and loved it. Happy to recommend. Sitting outside was a delight, and it was only after we were leaving (for the second time) that I discovered that "the bar in front of the bar" had a bar behind it 🤦 not sure we were the only ones, since it was busy outside and dead inside!

Athens has a lot of good bars and this is definitely one of it! We came to this place twice, one in the afternoon and the other in the evening, the service was amazing! We tried some sprit, the cream, margarita and one more drink as well as the sando chicken sandwich. We loved everything! Definitely recommend

Came here and sat outside with family. Good service, great cocktails. The banana horchata cocktail was surprisingly good. They whipped up a passion fruit mocktail that wasn’t on the menu but was great. There’s an indoor and outdoor area. Clean bathroom upstairs. €10-15 for a cocktail.

Our waitress was the best! The drinks were delicious, we tried like 11 different ones. Her scent was my favorite.

I was excited to visit, especially since The Bar in Front of the Bar ranked #51 on the 2024 World’s 50 Best Bars list. The drinks were decent — slightly too sweet and less nuanced than I’d expected, but fair for the price. Service was slow (nearly half an hour for cocktails while the bar wasn’t busy), and when I paid €30 on a €24 bill, no change was offered. It wasn’t a terrible outing — the atmosphere was fine and the drinks were okay — but overall the experience didn’t quite live up to the hype of being named among the world’s best.

Interior was gorgeous and outside had a lot of energy. Drink concepts were nice and music was good - however that is where I have to leave it. Service was very slow - 30 min for 2 drinks and the waiter just pocketed the difference from what we paid (cash) and assumed it was tip. Would I recommend? No, the only benefit of the doubt I will give is that maybe the outside bar is better given the branding.

We first visited this bar last time we were in Athens. It's actually 2 bars with 2 different menus. The one out the front called 'The bar in front of the bar' and the one inside called 'Rumble in the jungle'. They both serve serious cocktails. Think crazy combos carefully balanced by talented mixologists. Lots of experimental things. But also a great buzzy vibe and always popular. The rumble is more night clubby, the bar in front is more a street bar vibe. Both excellent. A huge personal thank you to Akis who took care of us twice and is a superb guy full of passion, making awesome drinks and giving great recommendations for what else to do. Thank you Akis, you made our night twice!
