The Barat Perhentian

We arrived on the first day and noticed that there were ants in the room. We informed the front desk who sent the cleaners to try and spray some bug spray. This didn’t help so we requested a new room. They said the resort was full but a room was available the following day. The next day we checked into the new room which was on the second floor and much better. There are gaps in most of the first floor rooms so the second floor rooms seem to be a lot better. Overall the resort is good. The rooms are simple but good for the price. The resort doesn’t have a beach of its own, but is a 5-10 minute walk from some nice beaches. Location is quite central on the island in terms of walking or catching water taxis to different areas. We went in June and the crowd was busy due to European holidays. Backpacker crowd. If you’re looking for a quiet resort, book before June or after August or choose a different resort. Staff was friendly overall. Food at the restaurant was pricey but pretty good.

I stayed at Barat Perhentian Resort for 3 days and 2 nights, and it was truly a wonderful experience. The resort and its environment are beautiful, and the staff were all so friendly and always ready to assist with anything they never seemed tired of helping guests. I really loved that. One thing that impressed me the most was the check-in process. Although the official check-in time was 2:00 pm, I arrived early around 11:20 am. To my surprise, my room was prepared so quickly that I was able to check in by 11:50 am. Omg, what a wonderful service! I really appreciate their hospitality, and it was absolutely worth the money.

This was my second time staying at The Barat, in a double queen bedroom. The location is great, close to the village and snorkeling spots. The room was a bit worn, the power outlet tripped, so the water boiler stopped working, and later the TV had issues. There are no TV channels, you need to ask at reception for a USB drive movies. The staff helped quickly and even replaced the TV. The shower pressure was low but okay.||The food was the best partbig portions, tasty, and worth the price. The BBQ station is a must-try.||Although the room had some problems, the friendly staff and good food made the stay enjoyable. ||I’m happy with my visit and would come back.

The room is cozy and clean. Bottled waters are replenished everyday. Just the water pressure abit low. The staffs are friendly. We came during long weekend (14 - 17 Sep) so required to wait for half an hour or more for the meals to be served. The staffs are quite attentive to our requests. The beach is full of dead corals so it is advisable to wear water shoes. It is a memorable trip to the Barat Perhentian.

Rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the area is quiet, a solid start. On-site booking for snorkeling and boat transfers is convenient and efficient. But the stay was ultimately unacceptable due to a major hygiene issue: bed bugs. I was bitten across my body and immediately informed the hotel. They never responded. No apology, no follow-up, no acknowledgment, a complete failure in basic guest care. Breakfast is overpriced at 100 RM for two, especially when the neighboring Coral View offers better food, service, beach, and value. Add to that a heavy presence of bats around the property at night. Verdict: Comfort is meaningless without care. A hotel that ignores a bed bug complaint fails its core responsibility. This should have been a 4-star stay. It’s a 2.

The Perhentian Islands are truly paradise on earth – stunning beaches and breathtaking scenery. The hotel is a decent option at a fair price compared to the surrounding accommodations. However, I’m giving 3 stars because the room was not very clean: pillowcases and towels were stained and there was a persistent smell of humidity. The first night our request to change them was fulfilled, but on the following days our requests for room cleaning were ignored. On the positive side, the restaurant, although more expensive than others in the area, is worth it – the food quality was very good and the view was amazing. One more downside was the lack of internet connection throughout the hotel. If you work remotely, this can be a real issue, but otherwise, you won’t miss it since you’ll spend most of your time on the beach.

Ok let’s start by saying: you are at the perhentian the price/quality ratio is quite bad. The rooms are not very clean we took a standard room and knew it was kind of a hostel but expected at least the bathroom more clean. The restaurant and coffee shop amazing you will see all the island there every night as it’s the best. I did a dive was quite nice. It’s in the quiet area of the island which we liked a lot and close by Turtle point and one of the best beach (you can’t swim in the beach in front of the hotel but amazing for sunset) 6min walk which is amazing !

Absolutely relaxing break during the long week end. Great place to unwind. Staff is friendly and always willing to help. I stayed in standard chalet, which is basic but met my requirements at the price I paid. Located next to the jetty, it is easy to access by boats. I recommend this place for solo travellers as well as families.
