15 Best Bars in Copenhagen

"Located on a quiet lane in Nørrebro, close to the curious Danish Police Museum, The Barking Dog is a chill bar for drinks and good conversation. A clever menu features numerous cocktails, many of them pre-batched in barrels. There are classics like margaritas and daiquiris, as well as Swedish-inspired vodka-tonic-lingonberry highballs and straightforward concoctions heavy on the mezcal, including the stiff Mexican 8-Ball, made with tequila and absinthe. Partake in one of the spirits flights—agave, sugarcane, grain—to expand your repertoire, or just stick to a beer like a Danish Pilsner or IPA." - Alia Akkam

Overall very bad experience. It took more than 30 minutes get our drinks. They came with the wrong drinks, witch they did correct. The drinks were not balanced, and had a bad taste. We had to almost argue and explain to the stafg what to do. We got charged fore more drinks then we consumed, as we rejected the first. We eventually got it right, but my frinds Birthday was not a success to say the least. It's very sad. All 8 of us had a bad experience and never coming back. Un acceptable.

Special corner of Copenhagen that oozes atmosphere and intimacy, from the vinyl records to the straw mask artwork. This place is worth your time.

Came here to grab some Glogg and also tried some special mezcal they had on rotation. Everything was delicious and the vibe inside is very cozy. Wasn’t too busy during a weeknight but I can see this place getting packed on the weekend. Would recommend for a drink if you’re in the area!

The bartender soon explained the bar menu and recommended according to our preferences. He was were professional and really laid his heard in the drinks. Great service, great drinks and great atmosphere. Well done 💪 We will come back soon😘

The cocktails here are so creative! We came here to try something new and cool and we were not disappointed. The place is swimming in vibes - lots of cool nooks to sit, including right outside. The ceilings are low, creating a cozy atmosphere, and the music isn’t too loud to actually talk. The service is fast and great. Someone was with us immediately and the drinks came out in just a few minutes.

Google
Such a great place, a place where you make friends, feel a happy and comfortable atmosphere. The Bartenders are great, the drinks are tasty, and the music is great. Please, do yourself a favor, and go enjoy, either alone or with friends.

I had an amazing experience today, I asked for a couple of cocktails and one out of the menu, the bartender was called Alice, she is not just very funny but very professional at the same time, she got what you wants. Really recommended to spend amazing times!!! :-)

Service is really bad… they didn’t have any cola. Drinks was fairly good.

Yelp
We weren't blown away by this place. The drinks we ordered weren't that I great. I ordered the rye or dye, and I wanted it to be more sour. I tried the drink my spouse had, and it tasted watered down. The place really emphasized form over function. Some people try to be hipsters really hard, but other people are hipsters just because of who they are. This place is the former; it just tries too hard to be quirky. Even on the menu, where fancier and hipstery places will list what the drink has, this bar sort of hinted at the ingredients. Not ideal when you know what you're looking for or what you like.

Yelp
Cocktail bar with a very nice atmosphere and a mysterious drinks menu that changes regularly. The menu tells a story for each cocktail but does not fully reveal what it contains, so you're always in for a little surprise. The cocktails are however of high quality, so at least I haven't been disappointed, only pleasantly surprised. One thing that makes this place stand out from the rest is the service. It seemed like the guys really enjoy their work and they were very genuine and helpful. Wish there were more places like this!

Yelp
Such a great find in Copenhagen!! This place is a little off the beaten path, but definitely worth it. The drinks, although a little expensive, were delicious. If you like mescal or tequila, this is your place! Everything was expertly concocted and the bartender was more than happy to talk us through the hilarious menu (for reference, each drink is paired with a funny description.) The decor was also very warm and cozy, on top of being quite hip and trendy! We will be back!!

Yelp
Thank you Yelp for helping us come up with these as a pre-dinner stop for a cocktail while visiting Copenhagen. We showed up around 6:00 on a Monday evening and it was pretty quiet. There were a few folks sitting at the bar but otherwise the collection of seating areas were completely empty. This is a good place to bring a small group (no more than 4-6 people) and catch up over conversation. There is music playing in background but it's not overpowering. The bartender was quite friendly and offered to help us with suggestions as we reviewed the menu and struggled to make choices. Some of the cocktail names are quite amusing. Ultimately, we made our decisions and a few minutes later some lovely drinks were placed in front of us. I opted for the Tree Hugger, which was delicious and as the name suggests had a piney taste to it. As we settled up with the bartender to make our way to dinner, we noticed that he was changing the music. Turns out all the music is played on a record player. Been a while since you've seen that, right? Hipster? Yes. But as someone who had a record player as a kid, I definitely appreciated it. Come in for great cocktails and a relaxed atmosphere to hang out.

Yelp
Wonderful place to chill and chat before a big culinary adventure. The bar was super friendly- from the lovely Swedish couple from Malmö, sitting beside us, to the charming and attentive Brit bartender. We also managed to score an invite to another hot bar in Copenhagen because I apologized for bumping into its manager. Love Copenhagen!

Yelp
Unlike my other English speaking reviews buddies below (shout out!), I came to this cocktail bar and drank wine. So even though I took a lovely picture of a cocktail while in there, I really can't say much about its potency, flavor, or quality. I will say, however, that my glass of Syrah was exactly what I expected it would be, so no disappointments there. The ambiance in the bar is actually really great and I could imagine hanging there for a while with some good people and good conversation when the budget allows. The lighting is good, the bar is fascinating (cool lighting - yes, I am easily entertained), the clientele are diverse, the the bartenders are a friendly and chipper bunch. Overall the mood here is relaxed and easy-going and I guess the idea is to serve what normally might be considered a pretentious adult beverage (cocktails) in an unpretentious environment (pub).

Yelp
This place is a great combination of service, character and good cocktails! We came and sat outside and the minute we came, a girl greeted us and brought us water. The cocktails change theme every month, and this time it was Mexican and tequila based drinks. I had one of the best margaritas I have had in Copenhagen while my friends each had an equally impressive cocktail. The inside is very cozy and very Nørrebro. This is the neighborhood cocktail bar that has a laid back vibe and something for everyone. On the way put they gave us all a free ginger shot just because. I have found my new favorite place in Nørrebronx!

Yelp
They figured it out here. Cocktailbars does not have to be pretentious and forced Their white russian comes with coco pops on top

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere! very good music played with LP's. Love the logo of their beer! but the best thing you can order in this bar is MESCAL! They are experts on Mescal and you will be able to try some of the finest mescals from Mexico. Ask the waiters to tell you more about the origin of the Mescal you are drinking and ask them to show you the bottle, you will see that all the bottles are from very small productions and the date of production is written by hand, that says a lot about the authenticity of such beverage. If you are curious about it, the waiter will explain you anything you want, they all know what they are talking about and they all like to explain the little stories behind each bottle. Forget about tequila and give it a try for the Mescal! you won't regret it

Yelp
It's called SERVICE! It's so hard to find good help these days.. unless you are at the Barking Dog! My first time here was around 7:30 on a Saturday night so it was almost at full capacity. A handsome gent came up and suggested a high table in the far room, but warned us that the group already sitting in the area there was pretty loud. He offered to squeeze us in to a low table with some other patrons but we opted for the seats by the loud table. As soon as we hung up our coats, there was water on our table and two drink menus. Inspired by the loud group, which was apparently in the middle of an enthusiastic pakkeleg, I wanted a Christmas beer. It ended up being an English Pale Ale called Reindeer Droppings. Thankfully it didn't taste as one would imagine, but it was not that great either. Eventually the loud group left, leaving a trail of crumpled wrapping paper and even some forgotten gifts in their wake. Three bartenders came out of nowhere and righted the area in 2 minutes flat. They even offered us a box of Anthon Berg chocolates that was left behind (which we politely declined). Although I wasn't happy with the beer, I will definitely be back to try the cocktails at this cozy bar with great service.

Yelp
Really good cocktails. I tried one that was recomended to me by the bartender that included mezcal and loved it!

Yelp
Came here for the cocktails but they're kind of steep, so I vowed for the accountant instead. It's a mix of lime with apple juice and ginger beer. I also got the polish which was sausages, pickles and chips. Drinks aren't really worth it but the atmosphere is amazing! Den er hyggelidt! It has a hip, trendy and retro vibe. Great decor, its also the first bar I've been to with a server that doesn't work only behind the bar.

Yelp
Been here few times as it's within the area I live in. It's a good place for cocktails as they have a variety of them and they also have their own beer for beer lovers to try.. The cocktails are not the cheapest but they are quite good. However seems like this place did never win my heart and if there is another option around to go to I would probably not stick to this one. The place is quite small and few stairs below ground level so in summer nights you feel kind of locked in. On the other hand in winter time it's cosy and warm. So all in all a place I will probably visit again but won't become one of my favourites!

Yelp
Decent cocktails, nice friendly French staff. The only down side is that this place closes at 2am! This is a great place for a few friends for a cozy night with some nice conversations, this place is way too small for big groups! Four stars for customer service and decent cocktails.

Yelp
This is a cool cocktail joint. It has the right vibe, the cool bartenders, hip crowd and good cocktail list but I didn't leave impressed. Maybe I'm spoiled by NY but I think the mixology could get better. Drinks were underwhelming and not well balanced.

Yelp
Fun place. They made a good aviation, blood and sand, and the white Russian with coco puffs was entertaining. Good service as well.

Yelp
Fun interesting cocktails and a nice, hip crowd. Server was strangely sarcastic when asked for drink recommendations, but overall experience was fun. Nice cocktails and atmosphere, though the drinks do not seem super strong.

Yelp
A fun little neighborhood place with some creative cocktails. Won't change your life, but a fun place to meet a friend on a Friday night.

Yelp
We visited Barking Dog with my couple of friends to celebrate birthday. We were asked to leave once the bartender found out we were there to celebrate. We were told it was rude of us not to call them in advance to inform them we are coming and that they only provide a certain quality of service which they couldn't provide because we were too many (10 people in a bar that was half empty as it was a weekday..). We were a group of civilized people in their 30ties, not going to get drunk and we would certainly mind waiting a few more minutes for a cocktail or beer. The bartenders did not take any of our suggestion into consideration and were insisting on us leaving, the whole situation was very awkward and sad, as we were hoping for a cosy evening and instead were treated almost like criminals. Never more, Barking Dog!
