Stopped in for lunch with my daughter and husband. We were greeted and seated promptly. It was very fold at the table due to being seated right under a vent. The waitress gladly moved us to another part of the restaurant. Our orders were taken by the friendly waitress. We ordered the Turkey Mozzarella sandwich with Coleslaw, blackened chicken sandwich with fries snd Turkey blt with fries. All were good. Blackened chicken very tasty with just the right amount of heat. Fries cooked perfectly. Turkey blt was enjoyable by my daughter and she mentioned how it was a healthier option than a burger but just as good. Turkey mozzarella with cranberry mayo was good except the mozzarella lacked flavor. Almost seemed to be missing the cheese. Coleslaw texture was great not too watery but overall had a very strong onion flavor. Not my favorite. Overall vibe was great and we will return to try something else.

The curry fish and chips is a surprise, to say the least. It is my new standard for this dish. The Mac and cheese is a pure comfort dish. I also appreciate tap list which includes a good selection of from local breweries.

Sat outside to enjoy a beautiful summer day. Food was good with plentiful menu options. Drinks were very good and cold. Service was attentive, friendly and helpful. Great place to watch life in downtown Concord while enjoying a good meal.

Google
I wanted to love this place. The food tasted great and the presentation was beautiful. We ordered the Guinness stew and the Dublin burger, as well as the Blarney puffs -which were delicious. There were just two issues that I can't ignore, so they lost a star. We ordered a medium well burger. The burger came out looking dang near raw all throughout the inside. We could not eat most of it, opened it up to show the server, who agreed it was not done and apologized. However, there was no correction and no discount to the bill, despite most of our burger being unedible. I'd forgive a cooking error, but that combined with the lack of a correction at the price we paid, lost them a star.

Went to this restaurant for the first time with friends after a show at the Capitol Center. We were all pleasantly surprised at the quality of food we received for this price point. We shared the spinach and artichoke dip and it was absolutely delicious. I ordered the special which was a Steak Tip Alfredo over cavatappi pasta and it was one of the most satisfying and addicting things I have ever eaten. The loss of one star on the Service is only because the on-tap beer list was not fully up-to-date and they did not have the beer that I initially ordered. I would absolutely recommend Barley House to anyone within reasonable driving distance. We will definitely be going back.

Google
Their fried haddock sandwich is amazing, highly recommend. I've also had a bunch of their apps. All good as well. There's a good amount of outdoor tables in the summer. There are 2 bar areas, one upstairs and one downstairs. I've come here to watch a band downstairs with some friends before and had a great time.

This was my first time visiting Concord and I decided to go to The Barley based on the positive Google reviews. I am glad to say that I made the right choice. I would like to start my review by mentioning how amazing the service was. The waitress was very attentive, extremely friendly, and nice. I ordered the fish and chips, which were both tasty and arrived quickly. The dish came with coleslaw on the side. My table had a pleasant view of the New Hampshire State House and park. The men's restroom was also clean.

While we were staying in Nashua for a wedding, my girlfriend and I took the opportunity to drive up to Concord to sightsee and have dinner. We chose the Barley house based on reviews and chat GPT and were not disappointed! We started with the Blarney Puffs and then we each got a burger. The Puffs were something elseeeeee. Burgers were great though my Oktoberfest special was somewhat over cooked, thought that was probably due to the combination of meats the patty included. Overall we had an amazing time and our server Samantha M was amazing :) thank you and we will recommend to others!

Yelp
Love this place. Great stew and beer list! It's so economical and they have a good variety of food.

Yelp
We tried the Barley House this past Saturday evening at 6:00 PM. There was a 40 minute wait and we put our name on the list for 3. We got beers at the bar and waited for our table. Time was correct, We got buzzed at 40 minutes and got a booth. Service was pleasant but the food took nearly 40 minutes to come out was underwelming. Started with a cup of cabbage soup. It was warm and lacked cabbage. I had the beef stew which was only warm and lacked beef. I only got 3 small pieces. It was mostly potato, carrot, and onions. Hubs got the fish sandwich which was just ok. He though it may have been previously frozen and then fried. THe beers on tap were the best part of the meal. The downstairs unisex bathroom needed a good scrubbing, esp the walls.

Yelp
I had a fantastic Haddock sandwich, the beer batter was light & crispy My husband had their hearty Guinness Stew. My husband loved the stew but it was a bit rich for my taste. Nice service & ambience

Yelp
We've eaten here in the past, so we do have a point of reference. It's been a couple of years. One needs to have realistic expectations about where we choose to eat, and this is a pub fare after all. That being said, we chose simple (medium) burgers and sweet potato fries. Burger was indeed medium but, luke warm. Very obviously pre-cooked. Kind of tough actually. The meat seemed very lean which is why it was tough and dry. The sodium level was almost OFF THE CHARTS. I literally drank 3 pints of water while we were there and I just got home and having another. Service was good enough, not her fault at all. We have had better meals there in the past for sure, hence my two-star review. Not my choice for a $20.00+ pub burger. You guys can (and have) done better. We were seated promptly. Dining room is a bit dated, but it's a pub and it is what it is.

Solid food and service and atmosphere. And please let me end this review with the obligatory 85 characters.

Yelp
Man, this is the place to be for lunch on a Thursday. I was visiting my parents for the holidays and was leaving that afternoon, so we stopped in for lunch before I had to head out. It is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Concord, and my parents live just a few blocks away. My sister and brother in law do, as well, so it's been a relatively frequent spot for my family for years, but this was my first time here. I think the entire town was there for lunch - we actually had to wait for a table, but I think it was only about 10 mins. While we were waiting near the entrance, I was perusing all the photos on the wall - lots of political candidates, some athletes and other celebrities, and then I spot a photo with my brother in law in it. He interviews politicians for a local radio show sometimes. Anyway, it was funny because no one in my family had ever noticed the photo before and it looks like it's been up there for over a decade. Once we were seated I ordered a spiked hot apple cider, which was tasty but room temp. If they weren't so busy I would've asked to have it reheated, but it was good enough as is that it didn't feel worth troubling anyone. My dad got a non-spiked hot apple cider that was in fact piping hot and he was very pleased with it. It was pouring rain that day, so it was a perfect day for a hot bevvy. We started off with the Blarney Puffs appetizer - it's fried little pockets of potato, cheese, and scallions served with Guinness cheese sauce. It made me wish I was in town more than once a year because I would eat those things every single day. Then I had to try the lobster BLT. Can't travel all the way to New England and leave without any lobster, come on. It's market price, which was $36 that day, but that's about what I was expecting. It was so filling that I could only finish half of it, so you're getting your money's worth. My parents got to enjoy the other half later. I also liked the coleslaw I got as my side. I don't know that I need to do the lobster BLT again, as that was more of like a novelty thing for me, but I'd get on a plane right now for more Blarney Puffs. I think my parents are hooked on them now, too. And they can get them whenever they want, so they'd better take advantage or I will have some sort of existential crisis.

Yelp
This 5-star review is solely based on our experience for an app & drink at the bar with a super awesome employee. It was a Wednesday around noontime & we sat in the corner. Immediately, we were greeted & told about their specials. We ordered one of the specials & it was suuuuper good! It was something that had fresh salmon with a glaze...I can't really describe it or put a name to the dish, but it was excellent. The bartender was laid back & great to talk with; another couple seated nearby must be regulars because he talked to them like they were old friends. I've been here in the past for dinner & also had a great experience from what I can recall. Supposedly, The Barley House has been voted several times as having the best burgers in 2020 & 2021. I'll have to go back & try one to see what all the hype is about.

Yelp
First time visiting in a while and will not be going back anytime soon. The food was not flavorful. The beef stew should be called chunky potato. Our booth seat had a huge rip in it. It was not very busy, so not sure why the food was like this. It was nice we decorated for the holidays.

Douglas Q.

Yelp
Seated pretty quickly even though there was a wait. Everyone was friendly. Excellent BSprouts app and great burgers. Our drinks were excellent from the bar. Decor added a nice touch. Really enjoyed our dinner date here.

Yelp
Solid option in downtown Concord! Consistent food quality and service in a comfortable tavern/pub setting.

Yelp
Their pumpkin apple bisque is amazing! It has a very unique taste almost with a slight hint of curry. Everyone else had burgers and said they were great (since that is what they're known for). I'd definitely come here again as it's a very chill place with good eats.

Yelp
Stopped in while in Concord. I had a bacon cheeseburger with fries and an IPA beer. The burger was cooked perfectly and the fries were delicious too. We also got the chicken pot pie and chicken sandwich. The chicken pot pie had chunks of chicken with a nice thick gravy with mushrooms, carrots, and peas. The crust was light and fluffy. The chicken sandwich had a good piece of chicken with cheese and came with fries. The atmosphere seemed to be relaxed and family friendly. The tables all had those little battery operated candles on them to provide ambiance. Service was prompt and helpful. I would visit this place again if I were in Concord and would recommend it to anyone that happens to be in the area.

Yelp
This was recommended to me by many locals! The burger did not disappoint! I liked the chipotle ketchup too! Definitely a great local pub with multiple dining sections, though I sat at the bar! Bartenders were friendly and attentive! The music was good and I loved their Christmas decor!

Lei L.

Yelp
This is perhaps Concord's most well known restaurant. I went there for my law school orientation. I also went there when there are important guests in town. The vibe and decoration is great. I like the chicken pie. The burgers are great, too. Servers are all professional and crisp.

Janice W.

Yelp
It was a long wait in a not busy restaurant for a very tough obviously cooked frozen hamburger. NG. Fries were good. Haddock was good. Service was pleasant. I would not go back.

Yelp
A nice spot in downtown, the food was good, the bartender was excellent at handling all of the things & the Guinness stew was just like gramma used to make Mmm Mmm D~Lishus

Yelp
Enjoyed the atmosphere and the service was great! Great location and nice options on the menu! My I "Falafel" Burger was not really a burger, (which is fine by me!) but a falafel patty in a pita. The arugula and falafel flavor was very tasty, but the patty could've been formed a little better? It was a little too moist and fell apart easy. My fries were beautifully displayed, but they were sadly soggy and not crispy- although good flavor and I still finished them anyway :-P Hubby's house burger was average. Nothing special- a little small and a little dry. His fries were soggy too, but he also finished them ;-) My mother-in-law really enjoyed her fresh turkey and mozzarella sandwich. She said the bread was fresh and nice big slices. She took half her sandwich home and I think her serving was the largest out of all of ours! Overall, not a bad meal. There is definitely room for improvement, but at those prices, we were expecting a little more.

Yelp
Decided to give this place a try when in town for my sons hockey showcase and it didn't disappoint. The waitress we had was polite and on top of everything. Very relaxed settings with hockey on most tvs so no complaints here ! We ordered burgers and pizzas . The deep dish pizzas were much bigger then expected and tasted great. We were able to take 2/3 of the pizza back to hotel to hold us down rest of the day. The burgers were also very good, meat was cooked perfect very juicy and feeling. Price wasn't bad at all for the amount of food and great service. Highly recommend and Hope to return for future visits ! Thanks!

Yelp
My sister n I stop in for lunch the other day for the first time. Was it all that impressed. To start we got what they called "the JUMBO buffalo wings" and as you can see from the picture they are very much just average size and smaller. There was nothing jumbo about them not to mention the price didn't help matters any either. For my entrée I got their chicken pot pie for me a pie whether it be chicken beef, apple, pumpkin pie it's usually surrounded in a white fluffy crust. This just looks like they took a piece of pita bread toasted it and threw it on top also on the salty side. Put on a positive note to staff in ambience was very clean, friendly, warm, and inviting .

Yelp
My husband and I stopped here for lunch on our way from CT to Ashland, NH. It was our second time at the Barley House. The food was good but the service was a little slow. We shared a Bison Birger and a butternut squash salad. Both were delis! Since we were in transit we would've preferred quicker service but the server seemed somewhat overwhelmed by the number of guests in the dining room. All in all it was a positive experience. Casual atmosphere.

Yelp
Food is good. Services is good. Ambience is good. Would recommend. Parking can be a challenge on a weekend weekday or any day of the week lol

Yelp
Really, REALLY good burgers, superb beer selection, and wait staff who are attentive without crowding you makes a great combo. Haven't been in for a bit but it's on the agenda!

Yelp
Amazing food and service. Tasty Hummus while you wait! Really enjoyed the Mac and Cheese and Chicken Sandwich. Also their chocolate cake is very moist and rich. Definitely stop here for a go

Yelp
Love the outside dining as inside really loud. Food and Service has been hit or miss. Drinks are not filled to top, smaller glasses. Each time we are there the prices are different for drinks. My husband likes a dry martini. Charged for martini, up charge for gin and because he asked for dry was charged another $2.00. Caesar salad one of the best. Wish you had a few more healthier dishes. Some of waitstaff seem like they want to be elsewhere. No attention to details, very slow and just going through the motion.

Yelp
Wings were fantastic, great traditional Buffalo flavor. Burger was excellent and huge so big I had to pack it up. Great fries as well

Yelp
I really like this place! Out of all the places that we visited in Concord I feel like this had some of the best Irish food that I could've had in the area. I tried the burger as well as the fried brussels sprouts which come with walnuts and are delicious, and the sausages. We also got cocktails these were really strong and well-made. We were seated immediately as soon as we walked in, the place is very large is built around the bar and also has a restaurant seating in the back. Large wooden tables can seat 6 to 8 people. The wait stuff was really good with us we wanted to change our seats and as soon as the table opened up for us they allowed us to move over. We put in our food requests and I would say took about 20 minutes for the food to arrive and about 15 minutes for the drinks to arrive. They also have a really large area on the right for additional seating as well as where the toilets are. The space was really well-managed clean and I highly recommend anyone who comes this area to visit this place

Yelp
This place has both a great location, a great outdoor patio, and a great TV setup at the bar where three different sporting events were going when I entered. They had a great craft beer selection: 12 taps (although one was Bud light... not that there is anything wrong with that) . I ordered their house burger and it was cooked to perfection. My gluten-free wife ordered a burger w/o bun and they kindly added extra lettuce in place of a bun. Good vibe. Would return in a heartbeat.

Erica G.

Yelp
It was not our favorite choice ever. We ordered an appetizer, and it never came out. Dinner was served first, and when i asked about the appetizer, was told it be right out, when advising please cancel it since our meals are already here, it seemed like that was a big bother to the waitress. Meals came out, and the food was subpar. Definitely will not be going back. So disappointing, trying to support a local business versus a chain restaurant, and the food is just blah. Sorry to say it, but that won't get anyone's repeat business. Step it up Barley House!
google avatar

Sara L.

Yelp
Went for lunch yesterday. No wait, seated in a comfortable booth. Started off with fresh soft pretzel sticks served with cheese sauce and mustard. Then had the roasted turkey sandwich with cranberry mayo and a delicious McBarley burger. Everything was fantastic. Only weird thing is when we were finished eating the waitress asked if we wanted a dessert menu and we said yes definitely. But 10 minutes went by and she ended up just dropping off the check and walking away. Will return if in the area again.
google avatar

Dawn G.

Yelp
This is definitely one of the best places to eat in Concord. We got the Blarney puffs which is potato fried dumplings and they were delicious. We split a pizza and it was top notch. The service was great and it was such a vibe! Loved it here, highly recommend.

Yelp
Dublin BurgerGreat location across the street from the capital building and delicious burgers! The Dublin Burger is a must try!!

Yelp
Tried out Barley House after searching for some pub food in the Concord NH area. There was a 45 minute wait when we arrived on a Saturday night. There was a lively bar and small waiting area so the wait was tolerable. Once seated our server was very friendly and attentive. The menu had a good selection of entrees and sandwiches/burgers. My wife had a burger which she raved about and I had the steak tip special which was good but they were cooked a bit over what I would have preferred. The beer and cocktail selection was very good We would definitely return if and when we are in the area.

Mary P.

Yelp
My chicken pot pie was good. My sister ordered coconut chicken tenders and when she brought them out, the waitress said oh it's just the coconut that makes it look like it's burnt. The chicken was pretty tough and the outside was burnt. We should've sent them back.

Jacqueline T.

Yelp
I don't like giving bad reviews. We were on our way from Quebec City to Boston and stopped by Barley House. We were in a happy vacation mood. Then, we were served by a server who did not want to make eye contact with me. It was obvious that she was doing it on purpose. Racial issues? I have never been treated with such obvious disrespect! Maybe she does not like my happy chirpiness? What a contrast in the vibe from this server as compared to servers in Quebec. As reviewed by another reviewer, this is NOT a restaurant if you plan to eat healthy. We got fried brussels sprouts, mac and cheese, a chicken pot pie and sodas. Wished we got the burgers and beer, maybe the experience would have been better.

Yelp
We stopped in for lunch and I am glad we did so. For starters I had the pumpkin soup which was perfect on a cold days. The soup was nice and hot and thick, oh and let me not forget how flavorful it was. For our lunch my son ordered the chicken sandwich with fries, my girlfriend had the fish and chips while I had the beef stew. All of our meals were delicious. The beef stew was served with potatoes and carrots. It was phenomenal. The kind of meal which fills you up and makes you feel warm inside. My son's chicken sandwich was fried perfectly. Crispy on the outside but most inside, and my girlfriend's fish was so good. The batter was not overwhelming and the fish was perfect.

Yelp
First time here. And it turned out to be a memorable lunch. After a day Of Christmas shopping, we were ravenously hungry and ended up looking for a casual yet classy place with sit down service. We liked the Yelp reviews so we decided to come in. We were not disappointed. While we waited for our table, we sat by the bar and enjoyed a wonderful Glenfiddich neat. Our table came in just in time and we were ushered to a nice booth, plenty of social distancing with Plexiglas dividers between booths. Our waiter was Justin. You can't get better service anywhere else. He was amiable, knowledgeable, courteous and efficient all at the same time. We started our lunch with a bottle of a great Cabernet. The first bottle had a dried cork and it looked like it may have turned. Justin opened it, we tasted it and the wine had indeed turned. The restaurant made it good on the spot and within five minutes, we had a brand new bottle of awesome wine. Admirable. The Fried Brussel Sprouts, Chicken tenders and butternut squash soup made for a memorable lunch. Coupled with a great wine and the outstanding service we got from Justin, this was one of the better lunches we've had in a long time.

Yelp
We visited on a Saturday evening. There was no wait. This is unusual. The service is good. The grilled chicken was freshly prepared. The french fries were average. The chef recommended Gin and Tonic with cucumber was really good. The Turkey BLT came with a turkey meat patty instead of traditional sliced turkey breast...which would have been a better choice. The specialty Irish Whiskey coffee was really bad. I think this Barley House is more a pub with pub grub than a $20.00 sandwich restaurant. Good atmosphere.

Ed S.

Yelp
Blarney puff appetizer was amazing. Guinness stew was very tasty. Happy I ordered it. Our waitress Autumn was one of the best we've ever had.

Sarah G.

Yelp
We have eaten at and ordered from the Barley House for over ten years. While eating in we also have a good experience, our take-out experience has been awful. 1. The timing is never correct; at least 20-30 minutes off 2. Order never went through their online system 3. Completely missing items that had been paid for; this has happened several times 4. Food is cold and prepared haphazardly I'll continue to eat in at the Barley House, but won't order take-out after our last incident.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and food if you're looking for a great pub to enjoy. If you enjoy delicious appetizers try the pretzel sticks and beer cheese. it's a delicious combination that surprisingly go together well. Their staff could use a bit more training, and I say that due to barely seeing the waiter/waitress after you get your food.we got our food, but I than wanted another drink. The waitress/waiter only showed up again to give us the bill. Overall nice place just needs some work.

Yelp
Great burgers! My sweet potato fries weren't the best, but minor flaw. Great outdoor seating! Highly recommend. Just be mindful that they are closed on Wednesday!

Yelp
Great food and good service. Always enjoy our dining experience here. Good for family or just adults. Eating outside is always great.

Yelp
We ordered takeout from the Barley House for an early dinner. Even though it had to be takeout, it was very well prepared. As soon as we arrived we called and gave them our car info. Shortly thereafter they came out with our food and drinks. The food was hot and delicious. The burgers were perfectly cooked, fries were hot and crispy, Caesar salad was cold and crisp, keto burger wrap was not soggy at all. The pretzels are delicious, of course, and that mustard is out of this world. It's not often you find a restaurant that normally doesn't do takeout, so adept at preserving the integrity of the food when putting together to go orders. Excellent job guys! We will be back.
google avatar

Dan S.

Yelp
Right from the jump, Autumn is the best waitress ever. I will not debate this. She was so prompt, so friendly and so sweet. A treasure! I think they've shrunk the menu since the last time I was there. If you don't want a burger, a sandwich or one of half a dozen entrees, seek another restaurant. That said, all the food we ordered was really good. The fried haddock sandwich was cooked perfectly, light and flaky. The fries were cooked well, albeit a little scrappy. This is a great lunch spot if you're in Concord. Check it out!

Yelp
Great little place in historic downtown Concord, New Hampshire. Inside what looked like a historic building, bar was a little small and hostess seemed truly sorry when she told us we had a 20 minute wait, lol. Very good beer selection of local breweries. Waiter was good, but never replaced my silverware that had fallen on the ground. Wife and I shared hers. We started with the Blarney Puffs, my wife lived them and the dipping sauce. I ended up going with the McBarley Burger, it was perfectly cooked and you could tell it was a handmade patty. I also had the sweet potato fries. I ate it all, but not sure how since it was such a good size portion. My wife had the hangover burger. A perfectly cooked patty with a fried egg, two giant pieces of bacon. She loved it, as it was a perfectly cooked burger.

Timothy M.

Yelp
Do not get a hamburger tasteless and so densely packed hard to cut with a knife. MEDIOCRE AT BEST! The fried haddock sandwich was goog good fries. DO NOT GET THE BURGER.!!!!!

Carol V.

Yelp
Great burgers! Don't miss the downstairs bar. When the wait upstairs is 30 minutes or more, we go downstairs and get served the same menu right away.
google avatar

Renee L.

Yelp
I hate to leave poor reviews, but I stopped by here on my way home with my boyfriend after a weekend up North. He had stopped here a few weeks prior and raved about the burgers. Upon entering, it was pretty packed with waiting families, which was interesting as we ended up waiting about 30 minutes and the room was practically empty. I got a Caesar Salad ($13 - pretty expensive as it is) and added chicken. My boyfriend got the Mushroom Swiss burger and a beer. The burger was a hockey puck and extremely overcooked. It truly tasted like someone had torched the burger with propane. My salad came with about 4 pieces of chopped grilled chicken, which somehow ended up being an additional $6. It was fine, but it is crazy to me how places are charging near $20 for a salad when it's compiled of just lettuce, cheese, and chicken. Both of us don't plan on coming back again, especially considering the fries were the best part of an almost $70 meal. 2 stars because the staff was nice.

Eric S.

Yelp
Great place to go for drinks, lunch or supper. I've enjoyed everything I have had there (try the Guinness stew ) Great fries too. Staff has always been friendly and right there for what you need. Comfortable seating and a great atmosphere.
