Yelp
Love this block of shops! I have recently visited Fern Bar and w while we were walking it was great to see many local shops, restaurants and even live music! I bought a cute hat from a local store, went to Taylor Coffee for a good latter, ate some great sandwiches at this Farm to table shop (forgot the name!) and had desserts at sermentine bakery! Really great place! Prices are reasonable!

Yelp
Overpriced, all the food is average at best, and the service at the first restaurant we attempted to eat at was abysmal. Way overhyped and disappointed we wasted a precious evening during our trip coming here.

Yelp
Mix of different stores both upscale and basic. Loved the toy store very similar to Teton Toys in Jackson

Yelp
What a cute outdoor mall! So I have been following this place on insta since it opened and always wanted to check it out. But it's just a bit too far for a trip on its own. However, we ended up in Sebastopol today and a city sign reminded me of this gem. This place is seriously cool. A nice area with shops, a local market, some cool restaurants and breweries, and even a kids outdoor area. You could easily make it a day with girlfriends. But with a toddler, it was a lovely 2 hours.

Yelp
In the small town of Sebastopol this trendy shopping center is a popular spot for shopping, dining and socializing. There are a variety of restaurants that features local cuisine and food items. Whether you are in the mood for delicious food, local roasted coffee, or fine spirits, you will find it at the Barlow.

Yelp
This was my first time ever coming to downtown Sebastopol and goodness it was so freaking cute!! Initially, my boyfriend and I came to this particular area because they had an organic coffee house that I wanted to check out! Then we discovered there was a whole little shopping district!! Basically told the same story of how this used to be an apple refinery or some sort of Apple canning facility, 30 or 40 years ago. The new owner ended up breaking up each farmhouse into multiple stores and then lighting up everything and out each section! It's such a cute well lit of different things from places to eat, wine, tasting, and clothing shops along with some outdoor things for kids to do while parents are snacking and eating! I would love to come and spend a day here but this particular day we brought our two puppies and one of my dogs is incredibly picky and elderly, so he wasn't really into all the walking around and the loud noises. Lol my other puppy was rather intrigued with , everything but puppies really like the smell of the pizza spot on the corner!! We ended up eating there as well as getting some coffee and some tacos to go at one of the other places! I will definitely come back again!! Perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon in the middle this summer!!!

Yelp
I love The Barlow! Think warehouse district turned local shopping district and outdoor makers market. I just learned that The Barlow was originally a few warehouses that were home to Thomas Barlow's applesauce production and cannery. Although vineyards have taken over many of Sebastopol's apple orchards, Sebastopol's apple industry is still going strong. The Barlow contains restaurants, a coffee shop, wine tasting rooms, boutique clothing shops, breweries, and more. A few of my go-to spots: -The Community Market - grocery shopping or grab-and-go lunch -The Farmer's Wife - incredible, farm-fresh sandwiches -Acre Pizza - NY-style pizza! -Taylor Lane Coffee - coffee and breakfast items! -The Fern Bar - incredible cocktails and dinner! There's always something new to explore!

Yelp
You can tell from the many reviews that a lot of people love The Barlow, so I am in the minority. We made a day trip to Sebastopol from SF, I had seen where it was named "one of the most zen cities in America." I think the Barlow is for everyone else who doesn't like the zen. It's like an outdoor mall, you can stroll from cool place to place but it skews towards affluence and just wasn't my cup of tea. Lots of other people love it so don't be discouraged by this one review.

Yelp
The cutest little area! This reminds me of Tin City in Paso- lots of little drink and food shops all in one area. We enjoyed going to Region. a pour your own wine bar that has a beautiful, cozy outdoor patio and great indoor seating. You can order food from the different food vendors and they'll have it delivered to you. Such a cute spot with so many different options that there's something for everyone and you can easily hop around!

Yelp
There is always something happening in the Sebastopol Barlow Market District. Pop-up shops, artisian workshops, trivia nights, live music, and more! Hungry? Try one of the award winning restaurants, craft breweries, spirits, and wineries. The Barlow is the bomb! Why anyone would give any less than a 5-star review is beyond my way of thinking! This is a lovely place to visit year-round. Family friendly, solo exploring, hanging with friends, and a fun date outing for sure! Definitely fits the bill of something for everyone! How can you possibly go wrong with all types of venues situated all together on 12.2 acres of land! And free Wifi. This is what I am talkin' about. I especially love how so many of the restaurants have outdoor seating. And even a playground for children. Wheelchair accessible and a pretty good-sized parking lot for those busy weekends and holidays. If you find yourself in the hood, check out the Barlow Event Calendar. Thangs are happening here! Now for that glass of Sonoma County wine at Region! (One of my fav Barlow hangouts!)

Yelp
SUCH a cool area! This is now a tradition during the holidays for my family and I. I love the walkability of this market area - a conglomerate of restaurants, breweries, wineries, and shops in one area - all with the same industrial feel. We love to come for shopping, dinner and drinks: there's always something new to see and try! Businesses include: - Quaint gift shops - Glass blowing studio - Olive oil store - Local market - Pinball bar - Brewery - Cidery - Winery - Wine-tasting shop - Pizza joint - Sit-down restaurants - Cheese shop Give yourself a few hours to walk around the shops, have a drink, and then eat dinner here!

Yelp
When we were there yesterday there were booths and happy faces, children in the play area and parents shopping and mingling. Happy Sunday, dad's galore, I bought a few things handmade for my daughter. Ate some pastries and sight-see. Clean and well thought out shopping area.

Yelp
The Barlow, to an outside visitor, seems a brilliant way to repurpose industrial/agricultural buildings and turn them into a gathering space with charm. The vintage warehouses now offer places for a variety of businesses to flourish. We've visited on several occasions. Each time reveals even more about the options within the broader campus. Recently, we visited with my sister-in-law. We were looking to spend some time before my brother could join us. We happened upon a monthly crafts fair - serendipitous! We ended up strolling by the booths and each picked up a few little items. Though we didn't purchase, we were all fascinated by the crafter who was repurposing vintage luggage, outfitting the pieces with modern-day sound gear of speakers, Bluetooth transmitters, etc. Very clever! The fall weather was absolutely perfect for wandering around the site. Our SIL mentioned several of the restaurants where they'd enjoyed dining. It seemed like many of the food / beverage places had indoor/outdoor seating options. Perfect for this climate! We ended up walking to one of the coffee places in the center of the complex for a refreshment break. That provided a chance to hang out and enjoy the scenery of the vibe that's been created in this area. There were a couple of musicians performing during the crafts show. Might have been part of that whole event, or just a weekend thing. Either way, that added to the overall experience. There's a lot to see here, and many options for dining, plus breweries, wineries, art studios, other boutiques, foodie experiences, and more. Put it on your to-explore list!

Yelp
Such a cool place to explore on a weekend afternoon! We went to celebrate my dear friend's birthday and had the best time exploring the breweries, wineries, restaurants and other shops. It was perfect for a large group and we had no issues finding seating and even found a cool wine bar to blow out the candles on the cake. There was a lot of great outdoor space as well and the ambiance is perfect. Would definitely come back!

Yelp
The Barlow is a 12.5-acre outdoor marketplace in Sebastopol that features wineries, distilleries, breweries, restaurants, eateries, and shopping boutiques. It has something for everyone, including award-winning wineries and distilleries, a wide variety of restaurants, unique boutiques, and live music events. The construction of the Barlow started in 2012, and it opened a year later. Since then, it has become a popular destination for those who enjoy art, food, and wine. Over the years, we had driven by it many times but never stopped to explore. This time we did and ended up spending at least three hours there! Two of the highlights of our visit were drinking cider at Golden State Cider (See my Yelp review) and having a meal at El Tarasco Restaurant. There is a lot to see and do at the Barlow. For example, you can * Visit the wineries and distilleries. Sample their products and learn about the winemaking and distilling process. * Enjoy a meal at one of the many restaurants. Choose from California cuisine to Mexican food. * Do some shopping at the boutiques. Find handmade jewelry, locally made clothing, and more. * Take a walk or bike ride. Explore the grounds and see all that The Barlow has to offer. * Enjoy live music. Check out the calendar to see what's happening during your visit. The Barlow is a great place to spend a day with friends or family. It's a fun and lively destination with something for everyone.

Yelp
I had no idea The Barlow district even existed until one day last year we accidentally drove up on it. It's a beautiful area with several repurposed farm storehouses lining the main road. We've now gone back a couple of times and the storefronts seem to be increasing each visit. For those of you who aren't in the know, The Barlow is a 12 acre outdoor market district where you can find local food, wine, beer various retail stores - all local to Sonoma. I've been to a couple of the restaurants (The Farmers Wife and Acre Pizza), the coffee shop (Taylor Lane), and a brewery (Crooked Goat), and all were excellent. Parking is plentiful (at least when I've been there) and free (but keep it to 2 hours). I see they are now offering tasting tours around the district which I think would be excellent and give you a mouth watering sampling of what the district offers. For sure visit The Barlow next time you pass through Sebastopol and be sure to arrive thirsty and with an empty stomach.

Yelp
A sweet gem hidden away. I've never heard of this town before but I'm happy I came. So pretty and all the shops look so intriguing. A must see and plenty of street parking.

Yelp
This is a cute little shopping district, with boutique home goods and clothing stores, a cheese shop, a few breweries, a bar with unique mixed drinks, a cider mill, wine shop, ice cream, olive oil, and a quaint grocery store/market with a coffee bar, and several restaurants and a theater. You could easily spend a few hours or half a day there. When we went, the weather was beautiful, so we leisurely strolled through the shops, had a snack and a beer at one of the breweries, sampled cheese, and picked up a few things at the market. We are from Southern California, staying in Sonoma for the weekend, but commented that this would be a fun and relaxing area to stay on a future trip, especially with all of the drinking establishments.

Yelp
Eating, drinking, fancy and not fancy, the Barlow has all the different food groups represented. Sushi, coffee, pizza, Mexican, sandwiches, smoothies, cheese and of course, ice cream. Of course, this is Sonoma County so you can expect to find wine shops and wine tastings and wine bars here too! Don't forget the art galleries and floral shop. Tons of outdoor seating, games areas, play spaces for the kids and shady spots to eat and drink. I was fortunate to find street parking for the Sprinter van on a Sunday evening even though the place was quite busy. After some wandering and thinking about our last stop on our weekend drive, we landed at Golden State Cider and that's the next review. If you don't know what's for dinner, head over to The Barlow and stop at the first place you see. Or maybe you need a drink? Same deal. It'll be awesome. [Review 17649 overall - 440 in California - 1170 of 2022.]

Yelp
Don't miss the trade market every third Sunday! Huge variety of vendors selling all kinds of stuff - loved the art and jewelry and was surprised to find everything was fairly priced, as well. The DJ adds a fun vibe and there were lots of food and drink spaces to grab a bite to eat. I saw a wine bar I definitely wanted to hang out at.

Yelp
I absolutely adore this place! The Barlow is a fun little marketplace that's tucked away in downtown Sebastopol. The marketplace features a plethora of wine and beer tasting rooms, local and boutique shops, restaurants, bakeries, arts & crafts, and specialty food shops. I came here for the first time with a friend who comes here regularly, and I was blown away by how many shops were here! Sebastopol is a small town but the Barlow definitely packs a big punch. It's like the local hangout spot in town, but people come from all over to check it out. There's a large open patio space with tons of shaded tables that are shared amongst the different businesses. There's also grassy field space that's perfect for picnicking and child or dog play. When the weather is warm out, this place is bustling! Because there's lots to do, you can literally spend your entire day hanging out here without leaving to go anywhere else. Parking is pretty easy and convenient as well. Looking forward to exploring more of the shops in the Barlow, and I'd highly recommend a visit if you're looking for something fresh and fun to do in wine country.

Yelp
Such a fun spot to park at and enjoy for a while! There is a lot here to entertain you--shops, boutiques, restaurants, bakeries, bars, cider, beer, cheese and more! We strolled around the whole spot and found so many gems! One must stop in my book is the WM Cofield cheese shop. Delicious cheese made there! If you are looking for a sweet treat, then I recommend the vanilla pastry cream from Red Bird Bakery. We picked up some amazing flavored olive oils and balsamics at IL Fusti. We didn't stop for any food or drinks but they looked so good and I need to come back!

Yelp
I understand what they're going for with The Barlow but it's not quite my scene. The whole concept of revitalizing some industrial spaces with bars, restaurants and shopping is a great one and it is a cool little area. Free parking and a nice community vibe can be found here. I just didn't happen upon any interesting shops or galleries. While there are definitely some interesting food choices, it's limited. I would have rather spent my time in the downtown area of Sebastopol for some more variety. It's a cool space and a draw as a meet up spot for friends and families, but not a destination if you're just visiting the area. I truly wanted to like it more but simply didn't. After browsing maybe 4 outrageously priced shops, having some lunch and doing a lap around the area I left thinking "that's it?" Maybe more will grow around here and I hope it does but I can't see coming back.

Yelp
Nice outdoor strip with some boutique stores and restaurants. Not a bad place to grab a bite or to explore when in the area. There is a small turf area for kids with some styrofoam building blocks next to the bakery. Plenty of parking in the surrounding area.

Yelp
Aloha, we were traveling from Bodega Bay to Sonoma and stopped in to see what's new at The Barlow. A fun strew of warehouses with breweries, bars, restaurants and shops. Wish we had a little more time to have beer-hopped a few more as they did seem fun. Enjoy the specialty boutique shopping, very trendy. Budget time to walk the entire complex. Enjoy!

Billy F. G.

Yelp
This has to be one of the best when it comes to atmosphere, good vibes and a variety of different foods and very favorable spirits. We found very friendly people and service at each and every place we visited. Prices were moderate and the food portions were very good. Just a very nice place to take a walk, eat, drink and relax excursion
google avatar

Yelp
We were coming back from Bodega Bay (crowded, overcast and lots of wasp) and wanted to stop for some cider. We didn't know the cider place was part of this great place called The Barlow. Lots of restaurants, shops and breweries (and cider). We had already eaten lunch so didn't try any restaurants but the two breweries and cider place were great. Can't wait to come back to try some restaurants and do some shopping.

Yelp
The Barlow has a little bit of something for everyone. Literally! There are a wide variety of shops, restaurants, wine bars and tasting rooms, distillery and vendors. A few of my favorite highlights include Golden State Cider, Region, Acre Pizza, Two Dogs Night Creamery, and Spirit Works Distillery. The Barlow is located in downtown Sebastopol and you can easily stroll throughout the market without having to move your car. There is plenty of parking unless you go on a busy event day or night. There are a wide variety of events that happen throughout the year including live music, meet the local makers and more. This is the perfect place for gathering and seems to be a great community addition to Sebastopol and the local area. I highly recommend giving the Barlow a visit!

James R.

Yelp
Pretty lame. I realize it's was a Tuesday when we visited but not much happening here. I was really looking forward to this visit based on what we read but it was pretty much underwhelming. A lot of places were permanently closed or not opened.
google avatar

Yelp
Fun market to peruse through while being in this city town! Bohemian shops and there's wine and beer bars in this market. One can spend time here leisurely in the afternoon and make it a day outing. Chit chat was pleasant and got some sunshine in between. Enjoyed the atmosphere and chill vibes here.

Yelp
Had a great experience at The Barlow ! Attended a monthly event, Head West, with local vendors selling their wares on a sunny day in Sebastopol. There are a number of shops and restaurants housed in warehouse like structures which are spread throughout the area. Would consider this a must visit destination if in the area and would recommend The Fern Bar for a tasty meal and great drinks !

Yelp
High end shops and restaurant mix. It is in the wine country area ish so to be expected.

Yelp
Reasonable prices & nice outdoor patio & seating. Lots of choices of restaurants. Nice people & good food you can smell as soon as you get out of your car.

Yelp
We are at the Farmer's Wife, sampled wines at the Region in a pleasant Sunday. We came back for lunch at the Blue Ridge Cafe. Great food and outdoor seating that is dog friendly o.

Yelp
Went with high expectations that were not met. Selection limited and would not return such poor service. I prefer Silk Moon in town.

Yelp
My new favorite obsession is definitely the Cheese store! WmCofield Cheesemakers is AWESOME. There's a legit CHEESE ROOM/CAVE that you can peek in to drool over the many beautiful wheels of cheesy goodness. All artisan made with cheese from Petaluma. I sampled a delicious cheddar and two types of blue cheese and some cheese curds. Absolute heaven. I bought some of all three and I pretty much are the whole bag of cheese curds in a day while wine tasting. YUM. He also has other local cheeses there to purchase and taste. Such a great addition place to add to your list to visit!

Yelp
We live nearby and visit the Barlow several times a month, sometimes while on a walk, sometimes for a meal and often make a morning stop for coffee and a pastry. When we were there this morning we picked up coffee and croissants from Sarmentine-always good, though the coffee has gotten weaker the last 3 times we've stopped by. This morning we sat outside in the normally lovely sitting area between The Farmer's Wife and Kosho Sushi and today the area seemed very in need of some sprucing up, the stone patio was full of grease spots, there were dirty napkins under several tables, some of the tabletops needed cleaning, and there were bits and pieces of what seemed to be food on the ground -obviously all there since yesterday as restaurants were just opening for the day. One of the umbrellas was broken and some of the Barlow maintenance crew were there to fix it, as they finished with that umbrella, they came to work on the one right next to our table-they didn't say a word to us just went to work right where we were sitting. We had to move and at that point left the area; the workers still did not acknowledge us or apologize or even explain their need to work where we were sitting. It is also very disconcerting for all the food purveyors in that area to have to go in and out of their restaurant front-(only?) doors with the food and items they need to run a business. Today as we drank our coffee we watched one of the purveyors carrying out a big plastic bag of soiled napkins, rags, and towels, other workers constantly push loaded carts through the sitting areas filled what their restaurants' needs-vegetables, beverages, meats, take out containers, cleaning materials etc. Also when we used the restrooms near the Cider place my husband and I both noticed the bathrooms needed cleaning-the women's restroom floor was quite dirty and in need of a good scrubbing. Not sure if management has changed for the Barlow but it seems to me that to continue to draw customers a closer look might need to be taken at cleanliness, upkeep, supervision, and space configuration issues.

Yelp
This place is awesome! Love the brewery, wine spot and pizza place! Cool vibe in Sonoma County!

Yelp
Not knowing, stumbled on to weekend with a long row of street vedors (happens 2nd and 3rd weekends) with so many creative craftspersons with booths of jewelries, baseball caps, skin care, candles, and my favorite booth is the guy who converts old lugguage into blue tooth speakers. Forgot to take a picture. The weather was sunny, 85 degrees. There's plenty to eat and drink. British cheese making. Plant store. Community market. 25 wine tasting place. This place reminds me " you build it, they will come." This reminds me of pre- covid days of street fairs and gatherings. Cinema nearby.
google avatar

Yelp
Love how many different places this place offers. From grocery items to steak and eggs, wine and beer, clothing, such a fun place to hang out with friends or come solo to eat and relax! Will be back!
google avatar

Sheryl M.

Yelp
What a lovely, dog friendly spot! They have art, cider, beer, wine, coffee and food, to include Barrio Fresca Cocina Mexicana. They offer huge delicious tacos. We shared a wine tasting at Pax and had a couple of splashes from the unique wine bar, Region. The Barlow was so fun, we are going back this weekend!
google avatar

Ashley S.

Yelp
We were visiting from out of town with a group of people and The Barlow was the perfect spot for our diverse group. There's literally something for everyone. We prefer beer and cider over wine, unlike the rest of our group, so we enjoyed Golden Gate Cider while they drank wine at Region. It's a co-op so you can order food from other surrounding restaurants when you're sippin' your alcohol. Just scan the QR code on your phone, browse the menu, and let the server know what you want. We LOVE this concept, and hope it takes off in other markets. We enjoyed truffle fries and a market salad from the Farmer's Wife, and pepperoni and pesto pizza from Acre Pizza. We loved everything. It was so tasty! The pizza was thin crust, and the portions were more than generous all around. The others ordered poke from Kosho. Even though we weren't the wine people of the group, Region had the most unique tasting. It's like opening a tab at the bar - the take your credit card, give you one of theirs, and then you insert your card at the wine wall, choose your pour (taste, full glass, etc), and watch it flow! No need to wait for someone to bring you bottles, or go through wines that you know you won't enjoy. They are more than helpful if you have questions or need suggestions. When we're back in the area, I know I'm going back to try the Crooked Goat Brewing, and I'll be sure to enjoy more pizza and ice cream!

Yelp
The size and scope of retailers, food vendors, wine and cheese shops, tasting rooms, etc. is epic. You can easily spend an afternoon here, if not your entire day. Parking is attainable, also very popular with visitors to N.Cal as well as locals makes for a good vibe. Lots of cute dogs on leashes to admire. Great variety of shops for gifts and home. Sebastopol is beyond hip!

Yelp
On this recent north bay trip, one of the boys wanted to check out The Barlow. My group of five arrived on Thursday, February 22nd around 4:30pm. It was rather dead, so we easily found street parking. We started off at Crooked Goat for some beers and games. Ended up in the back lounge area and played Cards Against Humanity while nursing our beers for about an hour and a half. We then moved to Woodfour for more of the same. Beers and What Do You Meme? They have happy hour here from 3pm-6pm on Mon-Fri, so we probably should have started here to take advantage. We arrived right before 6pm, so only took part in HH for one round. We spent a good hour and a half here as well. There are many other spots we could have checked out, but we had dinner plans, so we only hit up the two. Would be fun to come back and explore the rest of their offerings.

Yelp
I've been dying to make a trip to Sebasterpol to check this place out. It's a super trendy area with a lot of potential. The town is amazing. We were there as everything was opening so there wasn't much going on but I love the concept. The shop owners were all extremely welcoming and eager to have us try out their products. The streets are lines with fruit trees and lavender. The cheese shop was by far my favorite. I think if they would bring in a weekend farmers market it would attract more people earlier. If I am able to try this again later in the day then I will update this review.
google avatar

Mario D.

Yelp
I was surprised that this industrial center had several cafes, small local retailers and persimmon trees lining the main parkway! I will go back next time I am in Sebastopol hidden gem.

Yelp
The Barlow is a foody destination that shouldn't be missed if visiting Sebastopol. It houses a collection of hyperlocal businesses that focus on wine, artisan foods, art and sustainable retail. It has a gentrified industrial feel and is the second life of the historic Barlow Apple Factory warehouses (which had deteriorated and become an eyesore over time). I visited the Barlow on a consecutive Wed night and Thu morning as I was staying within walking distance at a nearby Inn. Although the Barlow was quiet with not many visitors while I was there, I imagine it has a completely different energy level on weekends or during special events. I had some delicious ice cream (frozen with nitrogen right in front of my eyes) while enjoying a nice fire pit on a cool night, sweet and savory crepes (amazing!), some terrific wine hinting at Crème brûlée, watch a glass blowing artisan at work and enjoy an abundance of sculptural art. I'm looking forward to returning to sample more of what the Barlow has to offer!

Yelp
If you're sightseeing in the Sebastopol area of Sonoma County, this place is a must-stop. The Barlow is a collection of buildings housing businesses that are there to incite gustatory delight in any foodie. Our first stop was Taylor Maid Farms which serves great coffee and pastries in a modern but rustic setting. The coffee is on par with Blue Bottle. I think I saw an oversized maple bacon donut. It was calling my name but we had eaten brunch already. :( Next time! Our next stop was a children's store. I needed to buy gifts for my niece and found a couple of things. This store has a lot of books, wooden toys, mainly high quality and unique gifts from abroad (France and Germany) and the US. Our third and fourth stops were both wineries--Wind Gap and La Follette. Let's just say, we spent a pretty penny tasting and buying wines from both wineries. Both had tasting fees, but La Follette waives your tasting fee with a two bottle purchase. Nice! It's nice being able to walk from winery to winery. There were more wineries in the Barlow, but we were good after two. We had to sit down for a little bit after tasting. I wanted to get ice cream from Sub Zero after wine tasting, but it was either that or have pie at Angelica's Patisserie which is nearby. Pie won. (And macarons.) The Barlow also has a couple of breweries, restaurants, bakery, a community market and other businesses that I'm sure are worth visiting. We were there for about 4 hours and barely scratched the surface. We managed to get a nice shady parking spot on the street since we got there around 11 am. If you want to find parking, I'd suggest getting there early.

Yelp
Great little shopping and Dinning area in Sebastopol. We found some nice arts shops, restaurants and wine shop to take in. Very nice atmosphere. We will be back.
