Last time I visited, the name was slightly different - Island Barn Cafe I believe? That said, a great experience returning this visit. A relaxed, casual environment. The first thing I noticed was that they serve Chiasso coffee - the coffee van that serves my work back in Toowoomba uses their beans and no surprises, tasted just about the same. Excellent crema on my double espresso. Had two, with no regrets. The Vegan Brekkie Roll looked appealing but too vegan for my liking - so I committed sacrilege by adding bacon. Yes, it does make everything better - especially when cooked like this (was it baked?) The cost was very reasonable for the island, especially compared to their competition at Point Lookout that stung me $24.50 for a brekkie burger yesterday. The environment is doggo friendly and laid back. Well worth a visit if you're in town.

Just had a lovely brunch with the family here. Coffee was hot and delicious! Toasted ham sandwich was excellent. Kids enjoyed their milkshakes and nuggets/chips. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend this place for a light meal 😋

The food was delicious. Lots of options including vegan. Coffee was hot and delicious as was the chai latte on soy. We had vegan breakfast roll, straddie eggs, BLT and steak, cheese and bacon pie. All were delicious and good value. Atmosphere is beautifully calm and relaxing. Dog friendly too. Highly recommend.

Wish I could've given this cafe a better review, but I can't after having to wait 30 minutes just to order, no EFTPOS and needing to wait another (20) minutes for the coffee itself. I respect that some places are cash only, but it would've been nice to know that before waiting 30 minutes in line. I understand that staff shortages and peak service times exist, but at least let people sit down after ordering rather than lining up on the street. While in line, locals made comments about the coffee being amazing, and was "worth the wait". I can't say my coffee was worth the wait, and I witnessed a few tables have issues with missing items from their order. This business and its customers would benefit from a QR code ordering system to take orders accurately while it's busy, facilitate EFTPOS transactions and reduce staff workload.

I had a really disappointing experience here. My boyfriend and I stopped in for coffee before catching the ferry, and since we weren’t sure about timing, we ordered everything to go. I also ordered breakfast and asked the waitress, a blonde girl, for cutlery for both of us. She only gave me one set, and when I politely asked for another, she replied, ‘That’s why you don’t order for take away,’ in a rude tone before handing me more cutlery. I told her that I felt her response was uncalled for, but instead of addressing my concern, she started making comments about me as if I wasn’t sitting right there. She continued like this for a few minutes, and I felt genuinely bullied and uncomfortable, especially as I showed her I could hear her. I ended up leaving immediately, feeling humiliated. This behavior was completely unacceptable and unprofessional. I definitely won’t be returning, and I hope management addresses this kind of treatment. No customer should ever be made to feel this way, leaving the place sadly and uncomfortable. What a contradiction with the posters in the wall.. 🙄
