Very flavorful coffee. That deserves five stars. There is not a big option of food and what is on offer is fine. You can work from here but not during weekends. Unfortunately there is no in-house toilet. If you capture a table far behind close to the windows you get a nice view of Kudamm. Worth visiting this place for a hearty coffee.

Get inside the small door next to Superdry, and take the lift to the second floor, you will get to “The Barn”. It’s circular, beautiful and with a nice terrace. The coffee is excellent and you can also buy it in grains or beans. You can also find some merchandise. Not only the coffee is very good but also the cakes are excellent.

Google

I stumbled upon this hidden gem of a coffee bar in Berlin, and I'm so glad I did! The round terrace with its breathtaking view of the city is absolutely enchanting. The fact that you have to enter through a clothing store and take an elevator to reach the top deck only adds to the charm and makes it feel like a well-kept secret. The coffee and ambiance here are both top-notch. A must-visit for anyone looking for a unique coffee experience with a view!

Google
Reviews are confusing but in reality it's only clash between old and new. Old people don't like modern style of coffee (specialty arabica is SOUR!) and they dream about old style of bitter robusta taste together with thick cream cakes. This place is nice and coffee is great. Only problem is that it's bit hidden in the building.

Google
I don’t understand why it has so bad rating. The Barn is an epic roaster, one of the most important roasters in Germany. They might not speak German, I don’t care, the prices are a bit more expensive than average cafes? Maybe, but its F the barn! The place is beautiful, the guys are great and coffee was perfect! I really don’t understand why they have a 3,3

“A Brewed Awakening: The Barn, Berlin” In the heart of Berlin, nestled amidst the historical semblance and contemporary charm, lies The Barn, a haven for coffee aficionados. As someone smitten with the allure of a well-brewed cup, the experience of savoring a V60 pour-over after a long hiatus was nothing short of a brewed awakening. The Barn, with its roots deeply embedded in Berlin’s coffee culture, offers more than just a cup of joe. Here’s a delve into its proposition, two compelling reasons to visit, and a caveat for the discerning visitor. 1. The Proposition: • Historical Resonance: The Barn, now housed in the erstwhile Café Kranzler, carries forward a legacy dating back to 1834. Though the original edifice met a tragic fate during WWII, the modern rendition pays homage to its precursor, blending old-world charm with modern aesthetics . • Bean-to-Cup Philosophy: The Barn’s ethos centers around sourcing and roasting premium coffee beans. With a score of 86 and above, their coffees are a testament to quality and sustainability, embodying a fully developed yet light and clean roast style, revered across Europe . 2. Reasons to Visit: • Coffee Connoisseurship: For the seasoned coffee lover, the allure of meticulously brewed coffee is irresistible. The V60 pour-over, a personal favorite, is a testament to The Barn’s commitment to coffee excellence. • A Blend of Past and Present: The blend of historical charm and modern minimalism provides a unique ambiance, making it a pleasant locale for casual meetings or solitary musings. 3. A Caveat: • Accessibility: While the charm of The Barn is undeniable, its popularity often leads to crowded spaces, possibly a deterrent for those seeking a quiet retreat. 4. Getting There: • Mitte Locale: Situated in Berlin’s famous Gallery District at Auguststraße 58, 10119 Berlin, the Mitte location is where it all began for The Barn. The area is well-served by public transport, making it easily accessible for visitors. The Barn is more than a coffee shop; it’s a journey through Berlin’s rich coffee culture, intertwined with historical threads that add a unique flavor to every sip. And for someone who cherishes a well-brewed cup, the experience is not just about the coffee, but the narrative that accompanies it.

Google
Went here several times for the past 2 years. Meeting several different staff/baristas, none of them was nice, rather rude. The coffee taste just ok. Cakes are awful, but yeah this isn’t bakery tho. The only reason I keep coming back because the place is really nice with greatest city view.

Yelp
What happened to the beautiful cafe? They've turned it into a pretend Starbucks with canned music and uninspired staff (that don't even speak German - which is fine if you're just going to live here but if you want to work on Ku'damm it seems like you should also speak the language?) Instead of a true (original) Berlin experience - the real Berlin - you get whatever all the expats think Berlin is supposed to be. They took all the chairs and tables out and put in weird uncomfortable benches. Such a loss for the city! Why? And it doesn't even have a WC?

Yelp
[COFFEE] Looking for good coffee we found this place through another app to spot good coffee places. Unfortunately on yelp it has not the best reviews BUT good we went anyway. The place is a bit hidden - two ways to go up one is through a shop where u can use the incredible stairs or take the lift. The place was never really busy what we can't understand because the service is awesome, the coffee is far the best around this area and the location is unique. Well if you need a break and you are close by - go up! Great coffee some snacks like - sweet - savoury and fresh. Enough space inside and outside.

Yelp
So I do not understand the reviews here! Sure it is NOT the old Café Kranzler, in which my grandma enjoyed her "Donau Welle Cake" during West Berlin times ... However, there is an excellent coffee a great view and a great vibe! I like it! My grandma probably not. You have to decide for yourself whether you are hipster Berliner in 2018 or rather 1970 Kranzler customer! If you are the first type, this is your shop! If you are looking for the "old" West Berlin from 1970 go to Roseneck in the "Wiener Konditorei" , my grandma would still like to be today!

Yelp
This area of Berlin has been devoid of any good coffee so that the traditional Café Kranzler has been taken over by local coffee roasters the Barn is great. Coffee is made with great attention and care and the quality is in general excellent. Service has been very good at all times I have been here. Of course it takes a bit of time to get the coffee but it is because it is handmade on order. The food selection is fairly limited except for weekends after 1pm when they have some bbq and waffles. The sandwiches and other food they have is however all good quality. The rye bread sandwiches are among the better options. The space is also very nice with a lot of windows and option to either sit inside or outside. It has never been difficult to find a seat here either so a good place to come as a group.

Yelp
I asked for milk in my cold brew and was told it was against their policy to add milk to the coffee. I asked if I was allowed to add sugar and apparently that was okay. I just really don't care for (expensive) iced coffee without milk. It was disappointing.

Yelp
Great coffee! Roasted with a light and floral profile. Just a hint of acid. Very tasteful. The wait was a bit long, but if you like coffee, go here :)

Yelp
A historical Berlin classic, this café has been renovated and revitalised by famous Berlin-based coffee roasters The Barn. The interior is functional industrial-chic, dominated by wooden stools - nothing special, average comfortable at best. However, the famous terrace is of course worth the while when the sun is shining. Most important is the coffee, though. Options include standard variations as well as cold brews - and nitro coffee, which is a great variation and gives a plus. However, service is really bad. Coffee took ten minutes for a simple espresso, the served waffle was cold and had obviously already been sitting around for a while, and waiting for both coffee and a new waffle, the nitro brew unfortunately lost its smooth texture. Overall, not recommended or if so, only if you rather come for the terrace and the view than for coffee.

Yelp
This place is really worth it! Very good coffee... just be patient... it takes a while... meanwhile have a seat on the terrace and enjoy this historic Berlin spot! There is always free space... because it's a secret escape... nobody seems to know that this place still exists! People take serious care of making their coffee... and they are very very friendly and helpful! Don't miss to go there to experience the real Berlin!

Yelp
They ruined a once great cafe. Instead of honest retro charm we now have boilerplate hipster coolness complete with uninspired and annoying music. Service is excruciatingly slow. It took us almost 20 minutes to get two coffees and two slices of cake -- and that was on a slow day with four people behind the counter. The food and coffee are okay.

Maria G.

Yelp
No comparison to the original Cafe Kranzler. Not sure why they got to keep the name. The coffee is not great and the atmosphere feels like a barn (at least that name is accurate). It takes about 10 minutes to make a cappuccino and the espresso is too acidic. In short, if you are looking for the coffeehouse atmosphere that was Cafe Kranzler, this is not the place you want to go.

Yelp
So I like pretentious coffee, and I'm willing to pay a premium for it -- but this place breaks all bounds of pretentiousness and I don't want to come back. The ambience IS beautiful, it's got a great view, great location, lovely to sit outside. but COME ON. They will not make you a single espresso? On principle? Are you kidding me? Even the cashier was embarrassed to explain to me that this wouldn't be possible -- she said I could take it up with the barista, but that I didn't have a great chance of success. First time all over the world I've ever had this experience; and I've been to a lot of very self-serious coffee places. (the sheer fact that I'm complaining at all should be proof of that). And yes, you can get really top notch coffee in Berlin for around 2 euros, so no need to charge me 3.50.
